yea, but hair in character theory can be utilised in many ways. for example, his hair before was all drooped down and hiding his face, symbolising timidity, shyness, and being hidden away. now it's literally being pulled away from his face as much as it can be, but there's still a bit that droops downwards. He's trying to show confidence, but there's still a bit of fear in him. it's quite good character design.
Don't forget the part that still gets in his way is black, which used to be the more prominent color with his old hairstyle, and purple matches Dokutaro, who is the one messing up with his mentality.
Basically, even with all the mind frickery from Dokutaro making him a schizo, he's still our good boy deep down
