Laezel grows on you, she went from kind of annoying in Act 1 to one of the coolest party members in the game. I like how she warms up to you too.
Also her ability to make things dead, that can't be understated. Best girl.
The fact that she stood by me when I decided to forsake her God-Queen, killed a bunch of Githyanki with me, and trusted me when I chose to help The Emperor means she is actually the best companion. Also she's the only companion who has a maxed out favor bar meaning she absolutely loves me after all of this. Shadowheart is only slightly in the green and she's supposed to be my gf.
I won the 21 difficulty roll, without savescumming, to trust me over the gith inquisitor and her reaction gave me a boner. Amazing quest, at this point we were banging and the tension between following me or lady skeletor was wild.

When you first see her you're focused on the nose. She's also usually angry, which doesn't do her any favors. Once you're used to the nose and she's mellowed out a bit, you can see that the rest of her face is actually very attractive and feminine.

You can beat the game without any allies, they are there just so you can summon few of them in combat. It costs an action point so it's kinda useless as friendly AI always somehow sucks.
Regarding the crone, you can get the quest from a worried mother who lost her daughter in the barracks of the lower city which is in the top right corner of the map. Then you'll get a marker exactly where the tavern is. Although I think that quest triggers only if you've killed the crone in act 1, I don't know what you're doing with your voodoo hexes

No, the devs were smart enough not to add that. Only real reference to cucking Jaheira existing, but she was always a prostitute who belonged to the road.
The only instance of her "cucking" you is if, by the time you finish off Goblin Camp and have that weak ass party, her approval of you isn't above Neutral. Then even if you fricked her, she will start talking about how she will go and try to score with Wyll or Gale. If you have at least Medium approval, then she will tell you how much your stinky armpits makes her wet. And that's it.

I think I might actually have bought Balder's Gate III on accident because I keep getting this glitch where a helmet that my main character is wearing will float off of his head, and since his hair doesn't render while the helmet is equipped it exposes him as someone who has apparently been wearing a wig this entire time.

This is a game that has different dialog if you or someone in your party is naked or not. They can come up with responses for this shit. Maybe a moralgay cleric or paladin is trying to shape her bad urges for good and redeem her, maybe an evil or neutral caster just doesn't want her daring to suggest that under their employ she can open her mouth like that, but that's the point, there should be a response. Hell, they can make one of the responses an overly sensitive "Oh dear I didn't want to microaggression tiefling culture" or whatever but there should be some options.
She's one of the more interesting party members when you can talk to her in your party in act 2 but it is a bit of a shame she has much less content than any origin party members. I want to make some webms of her conversations because she has great voice acting and I love drow

When you do the Dark Justiciar route for shadowheart, you learn a lot more about her.
She has a very promiscuous past, and brags about having kissed lots of people, and you not being close to her first.
She then goes on to explain how she was trained to use her body and sexuality to gain an advantage, and how Shar's acolytes would "train" with each other, to skirt around the rules of Absence, by having secret flings with each other.
tl;dr - she basically confirms she was initially leading you on because you were useful, and now (as in, late Act 3, she finally loves you for real).
She then tells you she'd like to skirt around Shar's rules with you, and brings you to an empty place with Selune's altar, where she smears the Nightsong's blood all over it, and finally has sex with you. Love is prohibited, but this macabre mockery of Selune, by engaging in copulation in front of her, is permitted, basically.

Play along with the Absolute cult in Act 1 and help her massacre the grove. Or just don't help the druids, chat to her a bit and frick off to thr underdark and leave the druids to their fate. Maybe have sex with her, but either way you need to pass a check afterward to make her not attack you. Later, do the "Infiltrate Moonrise Towers" quest ASAP and bust her out.

Yeah, speaking to the different goblins in camp can be entertaining but it's so half-assed in comparison to the other route. It's also really bizarre they didn't include an option to move the tieflings on and then attack the grove, or to turn the leaders of the goblin camp against each other.
Actually ignoring the question seems like the most logical option for most characters (not the player though) because all you want is some info, and you're potentially on limited time so risking life and limb to save or kill the grove is a waste of time for most characters roleplay wise

I mean yeah if you are doing the evil route it's worth it to speak to the goblins and talk your way through (even easier as a drow) but you still lose some exp by not killing the extra goblins there vs the grove. Avoiding there is logically the best choice but early on when resources are tight it is basically skipping a free couple levels of exp to make your characters go from weak to pretty strong which happens lvls 3-5

You can literally kill all the Goblin camp except the Drow Paladin if you play it right.
I killed the entire grove by accident because I attacked Kagna.
I killed most of the Goblin Camp, but talked to the Drow Paladin and agreed to fight with her.
I also freed Halsin.
Halsin bugged out (he never showed up), but the Drow girl went to Zevlor's spot and I was able to end the raid quest and then rescue her later on.
I'm also like level 8.5 at the end of Act 2 (all I have to do is kill Thorm), but I skipped killing the Hag, dealing with the fungus people in the Underdark, and I never went to Withers. You get a shit ton of XP regardless.

shart and lae'zal aren't decently written, almost none of the origins are. they all jump on your dick, that alone destroys them as characters, especially lae'zal, who's supposed to be this badass warrior culture alien from space, but a couple nights into meeting her she harps on about how she wants to have your dick. that interaction alone destroyed her character. same for shart with her "omg you changed my life I love you" three days into meeting her and keeping her in camp.

You can have both minthara and the other 3 if you simply not resolve the grove situation and rescue the prisoner in the goblin camp, that way Minthara will have to return to Moonrise for the lack of progress and ends up imprisoned

they share the same tent and don't acknowledge eachother. You can keep both for act 3 if you cure the shadowlands.
the bad part is that the game quests treat as though the tieflings are alive but they are missing in act 2/3 thus probably blocking any karlach upgrades
also basically save grove from shadow druids, you can kill all the gobos, go to halsin and tell him to stay put at the camp, just dont talk to minthara at all in act 1

I know what the issue is. Basically every video game made in the last 20 years only renders what your camera is looking at. But in BG3, in dense areas with many buildings, a shitton of irrelevant floors and inside environments are always being rendered. I guess this is to avoid pop in when you go behind a building and it fades out to still let you see your character. That's why Moonrise and Wyrm Crossing run like shit, all the floors you're not on are still loaded in.

Only when it's specifically written in as a conditional. There have been a couple of situations where it was relevant, such as Ethel fight #2 and Stone Lord fight. Other than that, if you knock someone out, they're considered dead.
I for example knocked out Minthara and the game considered her dead. I also knocked out Ethel's prisoners right before going to battle with her, and the game considered them dead as well.
I knocked out Wyll's dad and the game acted like he died, only once in the early game was it ever acknowledged that my character knocked someone out instead of killing them and even then, not really.
It's a tool to not kill shopkeepers when you accidentally aggro them. Normal enemies get deleted.
Does anyone else think the soundtrack is lacking, only compared to everything else? It's definitely not bad but I think worse games have better soundtracks so it sticks out.

If you feed Shadowheart the Nedstark mushroom in the Underdark, she regains some of her memories, and one of them are of this Tiefling. She remembers him as a boy, and she remembers they were close friends in the House of Grief. When she gets to the House of Grief in Act 3, she meets her friend, who is now transsexual.

When you have Shadowheart eat the mushroom, you gain a quest, which describes her friend as a boy. When you finally meet the friend, it's a female tiefling NPC, voiced by a transsexual.
Power-wise it's probably Tempest that's the strongest. Getting to maximise your hard hitting spells is such a boon that I doubt any other cleric domain comes even close.
If you truly want to take advantage of the feature you might want to multiclass into Storm or Dragon (lightning) sorc and maximise your chain lightnings, shatters and destructive waves. Be sure to start with Sorc though for constitution save proficiency.

You can only kill them before their sexuality is revealed, and it's catastrophical for any "normal" run. If you kill Isobel, the Last Light Inn gets destroyed and everyone dies. You lose 8 quests, and you lose Jaheera under most circumstances.
If you kill the Nightsong, you are locked into Shar-route for Shadowheart, and you have to basically force her to kill the Nightsong in the first place.
Imagine that, a Shar fanatic, who is repeatedly schizobabbling about becoming a Dark Justiciar all game, finally gets the chance to fulfill her Lady's wishes, and 4 out of 5 dialogue options cause them to save the Nightsong and betray Shar. You basically have to shout out her "Kill her! Fulfill Shar's command!", to get her to do it.
Needless to say, 99% of the player base will not kill Isobel or kill the Selune aasimar, and they will be met with activist dyke dialog, and the bull dykes groping each other in subsequent cutscenes.

I think that was the intended reaction for people to have with him. Act 3 after all exposed a lot fo his negative history. My take on it is he's got a massive ego that doesn't allow for deviations or unknowns in his plan. As long as all goes according to plan he has no reason to be rude or screw you over especially if you heed his advice. Pleasant surprises like not being judgmental about his squid face are fine and he can admit he's wrong in his approach for reasons like that. On the other hand introducing dangerous elements like the orphic hammer to potentially free someone who not only is from his new race's greatest enemy and has a really good reason to want to kill him set him off hard.and from what I hear he does the absolutely moronic decision of joining up with the elder brain if orpheus is freed. It's also kinda telling that he never forces the super tadpoles onto you. Whether he can't or just chooses not to is up for debate. If I had to guess Swen didn't like the thousands of threads a month everywhere pointing out the EA game was Divinity Original Sin's 2 plot and everyone was expecting the dream visitor to be a mindflyer and like the Gods in Original Sin's 2 plan to backstab the moment it was convenient so we got massive rewrites that make the Emperor a schizoid mess.

That's what you get when you're way too deep into the mind flayer story and later on turns out you also must make it work as Baldur's Gate story as well. Whenever the change of plans happened it clearly was way too late in the development cycle.
Slayer form would have been cooler, if it wasn’t a inferior version of myself, since I was playing fighter battle master. Only use for it was as a hp buffer, but that is never needed in the game.

There's a lot of ways to get advantage for backstabs besides going into hiding tbh
read your tooltips, I think fighter has shit that gives party members advantage and all spellcasters have a good selection of spells like hold person or making enemies blind
also read up what debuffs your weapons apply to enemies, and remember that you can get advantage by simply being on higher ground than the enemy

I was just spouting what other people were saying, my Paladin/Barb team with Cleric and Caster as backline carried me and the Caster wasn't really that strong until he got a bunch of items to make him better
Barb is pretty weak in comparison to fighter in late game. Paladin is stronger than fighter for early and mid game, but late game fighter is objectively better. Those 3 attacks per action are too good, when you get 4 actions per turn. Paladin is still decent at dealing damage to a boss, but can’t really match fighter late. Despite all this, paladin is a stronger class for the whole of the game. Fighter just overtakes in act 3.

Umm, no? I played a Paladin, later Paladin-Bard and with level 6 smites I could do max 81 damage. Since I was dual wielding, I could do 4 smites (weaker as a spend my spell slots) and one offhand attack. If any of those crit I could add more smites.
I absolutely can THEORECTICALLY oneshot bosses. Laezel cannot dream of matching that damage output despite getting six attacks with her greatsword with haste, even if I used a superiority die with every attack.
Cantrips are your bread and butter, leveled spells are your oh shit button, spell scrolls are your "well time to throw money at this problem until it goes away" option. If you don't like it, go warlock.
There's honestly no penalty for resting, and there's not that many fight scenes. So feel free to go all out every fight or every other fight. Infact, the game encourages it, because A LOT of the companion interactions and rng camp events are locked behind long resting

It's strange - normally you are encouraged to rest non-stop so camp events can happen, but there are a few quests where you have 2-5 days before failing.
There’s a penalty if you are in specific zones, that have timers. Long rests function as the passage of time, so you will fail some conditions, if you rest near them.
Its weird how the only truly polygamous companions are Halsin, who is really stereotypically creepy about it, and Minthara, who is obviously evil. The others imply they're cool with it but aren't actually

You can beat the game without any allies, they are there just so you can summon few of them in combat. It costs an action point so it's kinda useless as friendly AI always somehow sucks.
Regarding the crone, you can get the quest from a worried mother who lost her daughter in the barracks of the lower city which is in the top right corner of the map. Then you'll get a marker exactly where the tavern is. Although I think that quest triggers only if you've killed the crone in act 1, I don't know what you're doing with your voodoo hexes

Maybe a moralgay cleric or paladin is trying to shape her bad urges for good and redeem her, maybe an evil or neutral caster just doesn't want her daring to suggest that under their employ she can open her mouth like that, but that's the point, there should be a response. Hell, they can make one of the responses an overly sensitive "Oh dear I didn't want to microaggression tiefling culture" or whatever but there should be some options.

She then goes on to explain how she was trained to use her body and sexuality to gain an advantage, and how Shar's acolytes would "train" with each other, to skirt around the rules of Absence, by having secret flings with each other.
tl;dr - she basically confirms she was initially leading you on because you were useful, and now (as in, late Act 3, she finally loves you for real).
She then tells you she'd like to skirt around Shar's rules with you, and brings you to an empty place with Selune's altar, where she smears the Nightsong's blood all over it, and finally has sex with you. Love is prohibited, but this macabre mockery of Selune, by engaging in copulation in front of her, is permitted, basically.

The evil route just sounds horrible when you miss out on and kinds of good shit, including half of the companions.
Yeah, speaking to the different goblins in camp can be entertaining but it's so half-assed in comparison to the other route. It's also really bizarre they didn't include an option to move the tieflings on and then attack the grove, or to turn the leaders of the goblin camp against each other.
Actually ignoring the question seems like the most logical option for most characters (not the player though) because all you want is some info, and you're potentially on limited time so risking life and limb to save or kill the grove is a waste of time for most characters roleplay wise

I mean yeah if you are doing the evil route it's worth it to speak to the goblins and talk your way through (even easier as a drow) but you still lose some exp by not killing the extra goblins there vs the grove. Avoiding there is logically the best choice but early on when resources are tight it is basically skipping a free couple levels of exp to make your characters go from weak to pretty strong which happens lvls 3-5
You can literally kill all the Goblin camp except the Drow Paladin if you play it right.
I killed the entire grove by accident because I attacked Kagna.
I killed most of the Goblin Camp, but talked to the Drow Paladin and agreed to fight with her.
I also freed Halsin.
Halsin bugged out (he never showed up), but the Drow girl went to Zevlor's spot and I was able to end the raid quest and then rescue her later on.
I'm also like level 8.5 at the end of Act 2 (all I have to do is kill Thorm), but I skipped killing the Hag, dealing with the fungus people in the Underdark, and I never went to Withers. You get a shit ton of XP regardless.

they share the same tent and don't acknowledge eachother. You can keep both for act 3 if you cure the shadowlands.
the bad part is that the game quests treat as though the tieflings are alive but they are missing in act 2/3 thus probably blocking any karlach upgrades
also basically save grove from shadow druids, you can kill all the gobos, go to halsin and tell him to stay put at the camp, just dont talk to minthara at all in act 1
I have a feeling they're going to add some alt secret way to get Minthara since it seems like she still needs a lot of work to fix her route anyway.

I think halsin only officially joins your crew once you cure the shadowlands. And yeah he has a quest that starts from the lower room of the inn

Once there were a bunch of humans who got enslaved by the mindflayers. They eventually rebelled, led by Gith. Gith decided that they should hunt down all mindflayers in existence, and also make their own empire, creating the Githyanki. Another of the slaves, Zerthimon, disagreed and said they should focus on healing themselves, creating the Githzerai.
The Githyanki are buttholes riding dragons led by an evil lich-queen who wants to be a god and has essentially enslaved them all. The Githzerai are more chill, believing in meditation and stuff.
Bear in mind Gith was probably a little more chill than Vlaakith but got betrayed and enslaved by Tiamat in hell.

I know what the issue is. Basically every video game made in the last 20 years only renders what your camera is looking at. But in BG3, in dense areas with many buildings, a shitton of irrelevant floors and inside environments are always being rendered. I guess this is to avoid pop in when you go behind a building and it fades out to still let you see your character. That's why Moonrise and Wyrm Crossing run like shit, all the floors you're not on are still loaded in.
I vaguely remember someone saying that their engine keeps models and shit up in the sky where camera can't reach it so they can be easily loaded in when needed, and that's also the reason why camera is so limited.

If you click "Passive" on the skill hotbar you'll find an ability you can enable for "non-lethal damage" with melee weapons.
You switch your "Axe of a thousand beheadings +1" to stun mode
and that's only if the character is specifically flagged to be knocked out, otherwise they frickin die
KO'ing counts as a kill as far as the game is concerned. The Drow cultist will just disappear if you "kill" her with non-lethal blows.

Only when it's specifically written in as a conditional. There have been a couple of situations where it was relevant, such as Ethel fight #2 and Stone Lord fight. Other than that, if you knock someone out, they're considered dead.
I for example knocked out Minthara and the game considered her dead. I also knocked out Ethel's prisoners right before going to battle with her, and the game considered them dead as well.
I knocked out Wyll's dad and the game acted like he died, only once in the early game was it ever acknowledged that my character knocked someone out instead of killing them and even then, not really.
It's a tool to not kill shopkeepers when you accidentally aggro them. Normal enemies get deleted.

You can build a Cleric in a ton of different ways, depends on what you want to do.

Power-wise it's probably Tempest that's the strongest. Getting to maximise your hard hitting spells is such a boon that I doubt any other cleric domain comes even close.
If you truly want to take advantage of the feature you might want to multiclass into Storm or Dragon (lightning) sorc and maximise your chain lightnings, shatters and destructive waves. Be sure to start with Sorc though for constitution save proficiency.

If you kill the Nightsong, you are locked into Shar-route for Shadowheart, and you have to basically force her to kill the Nightsong in the first place.
Imagine that, a Shar fanatic, who is repeatedly schizobabbling about becoming a Dark Justiciar all game, finally gets the chance to fulfill her Lady's wishes, and 4 out of 5 dialogue options cause them to save the Nightsong and betray Shar. You basically have to shout out her "Kill her! Fulfill Shar's command!", to get her to do it.
Needless to say, 99% of the player base will not kill Isobel or kill the Selune aasimar, and they will be met with activist dyke dialog, and the bull dykes groping each other in subsequent cutscenes.

Huh, I honestly thought he'd do a complete 180 on us for his personal gain, seems like the type. He came off as very machiavellian to me, with how hard he tries to earn your trust and then immediately proposes plans and showers you with gifts as reinforcement.
I think that was the intended reaction for people to have with him. Act 3 after all exposed a lot fo his negative history. My take on it is he's got a massive ego that doesn't allow for deviations or unknowns in his plan. As long as all goes according to plan he has no reason to be rude or screw you over especially if you heed his advice. Pleasant surprises like not being judgmental about his squid face are fine and he can admit he's wrong in his approach for reasons like that. On the other hand introducing dangerous elements like the orphic hammer to potentially free someone who not only is from his new race's greatest enemy and has a really good reason to want to kill him set him off hard.and from what I hear he does the absolutely moronic decision of joining up with the elder brain if orpheus is freed. It's also kinda telling that he never forces the super tadpoles onto you. Whether he can't or just chooses not to is up for debate. That said I'm sure he probably will do some shady shit post-story but we never see it so he gets a pass for now

If I had to guess Swen didn't like the thousands of threads a month everywhere pointing out the EA game was Divinity Original Sin's 2 plot and everyone was expecting the dream visitor to be a mindflyer and like the Gods in Original Sin's 2 plan to backstab the moment it was convenient so we got massive rewrites that make the Emperor a schizoid mess.

read your tooltips, I think fighter has shit that gives party members advantage and all spellcasters have a good selection of spells like hold person or making enemies blind
also read up what debuffs your weapons apply to enemies, and remember that you can get advantage by simply being on higher ground than the enemy

I was just spouting what other people were saying, my Paladin/Barb team with Cleric and Caster as backline carried me and the Caster wasn't really that strong until he got a bunch of items to make him better
Barb is pretty weak in comparison to fighter in late game. Paladin is stronger than fighter for early and mid game, but late game fighter is objectively better. Those 3 attacks per action are too good, when you get 4 actions per turn. Paladin is still decent at dealing damage to a boss, but can’t really match fighter late. Despite all this, paladin is a stronger class for the whole of the game. Fighter just overtakes in act 3.

Umm, no? I played a Paladin, later Paladin-Bard and with level 6 smites I could do max 81 damage. Since I was dual wielding, I could do 4 smites (weaker as a spend my spell slots) and one offhand attack. If any of those crit I could add more smites.
I absolutely can THEORECTICALLY oneshot bosses. Laezel cannot dream of matching that damage output despite getting six attacks with her greatsword with haste, even if I used a superiority die with every attack.

There's honestly no penalty for resting, and there's not that many fight scenes. So feel free to go all out every fight or every other fight. Infact, the game encourages it, because A LOT of the companion interactions and rng camp events are locked behind long resting

It's strange - normally you are encouraged to rest non-stop so camp events can happen, but there are a few quests where you have 2-5 days before failing.
There’s a penalty if you are in specific zones, that have timers. Long rests function as the passage of time, so you will fail some conditions, if you rest near them.
