This. They've been adding too little too slowly.
I figured there'd have been an entirely new planet with a different enemy variety and its own biomes by now.
But no, just a couple of new bugs and guns.
This is the problem. I hope to God they're working on a different game behind the scenes because I know they can do better than this.
Season pass itself isn't a problem, they just need to put in more content each season like new biomes, new enemy factions, new equipment and such.
>Season pass itself isn't a problem, they just need to put in more content each season
WRONG
the Pass IS the problem. Without it, people would have been okay with the new grenades in a small update that could have been developed and released within 2 months. The Pass model, which has been now ingrained onto the danes' shitty brains, raised the expectation for each update by magnitudes higher.
Kill Season Pass, behead Season Pass, slam Season Pass into the concrete.
Nothing. That’s the problem. All it did was add (1) rare event boss nobody sees, boots that never spawn, and made last season’s content actually a little challenging, and basically nothing else. It’s a nothing update.

It's not about the speed of additions, but about their nature. People want more variety to existing content, new missions, a new biome, etc. Most of what was added in Season 4 are just frivolities.
I dont think its reasonable to expect a new biome or even a new mission type every update. I know this is expected from live service games but DRG never advertised itself as such and doesnt monetize its content anywhere near as aggressively.
I agree it needs new content if they want to retain the player base though. But that might be a fool's errant. Its the nature of games to fizzle out once they've been on the market long enough, unless a fanbase can use its tools to potentially create infinite content.
I don't need it every update. But something new once a year/1.5 years wouldn't hurt.

it'd be nice sure but at the end of the day its down to how much money new content brings in vs how much it costs. I hope they can manage, but I wouldnt count on it. it is a finished game so any additional free content isnt a given.

I'm seeing plenty of it, it's just that it doesn't even do that much. Nemesis was a force to be reckoned with, meanwhile that fricking buttplug just wanders around and shids all over the place.
I see it all the time and I fricking hate dealing with it. It's not a fun boss. The floor becoming near instant kill diarrhea that stuns you and the enemies that spawn, forcing you to drop your cleaning tool to deal with it, sucks.
God help you if you fight it on shitty elevated terrain.
Acid shot and stingtail are amazing. they made haz5 have an edge again after being easy for so long.
if they can add more enemy types and hazards there's no need for new guns.

One of the very first things I did after noticing OC grind is capped is opening the save editor and add 100 blank cores. I don't know what's the point of having machine events only spawning here and there and then no reason to do them cause I'm out of blanks.
>I save scummed so that I only get strong overclocks
The imbalance alone between OCs makes the current RNG system pure garbage. They only insist on their garbage weekly model to artificially keep players.
I just used wemod to fully unlock all of the battle pass shit and got to enjoy just the gameplay itself which is quite enjoyable if it weren't for doing the same 4-5 mission types over and over, I'll compare it to two other hoard shooters I'm familiar with PD2, KF2 and L4D1/2, you've got the horde bits down but objectives get stale if it's the same each time even with terrain variables included.

Okay, let's be fair - it's not like they actually ruined it, they just failed to improve it. The game itself is still fine, but it is running out of steam now. Content flow was dwindling since at least the second season.
Yeah like imagine if they added an enemy to every battle that was just unfun to play against into the mix. This isn't a passive aggresive jab at the Stinger, it's a fun addition compared to robots.
No, it is actually worse. The grenades they added are all sidegrades at best too. I would prefer to go back to season 2 with robots and hacking events over this. We gained nothing.

said but also,
There’s microtransactions but they’re only cosmetics. There’s money and minerals you need to upgrade and build shit but it’s not hard to acquire them. It’s good solo but best played co-op, even if you play with randos. It’s got a battlepass but to their credit its completely free and even if you don’t complete it all the cosmetics in it go into a loot pool at the end of each season so there’s pretty much no FOMO. Like
Okay, let's be fair - it's not like they actually ruined it, they just failed to improve it. The game itself is still fine, but it is running out of steam now. Content flow was dwindling since at least the second season.
said the amount of new content has been dwindling but if you’re a new player you’ll have shitloads to do and unlock. It’s a bit of a hugbox but there’s no “report” system so the worst backlash you’ll get is being kicked from the game or blocked

>Are there microtransactions?
No, only cosmetic DLCs. >Are there 6 kinds of currency?
Not for gameplay features, no. There is some stuff for cosmetics only. >Are there 90 crafting materials to upgrade?
There are several minerals used for crafting, but you don't need that much of them for gameplay stuff like gun upgrades. >Is it good solo?
It is playable solo, you get a pretty helpful robot companion, but it's nowhere as fun as multiplayer. >Can you tell me anything about it?
There are dwarves and possibly elves.
>Can you tell me anything about it?
It's like the first time you went into minecraft caves (and got a cool cave gen), and if minecraft had good gun play / combat instead of garbage combat.
Game's pretty hard at first, then it clicks.
There's a bit of a grind in that when you just start out you have nothing and unlocking perks and weapons and things is a tiny bit of a chore, like honestly they should lower the costs on that stuff, but also there's enough weekly resource missions and such that you can get everything reasonably fast and then once you have it unlocked it's unlocked for the next 800 hours you'll be playing the game.
>Are there 6 kinds of currency?
Other gays fail to mention that yes, there are a lot of currencies. However, they are minerals that you find during missions and are given to you for doing assigmentscompleting battle pass. Also you can almost freely (the game has a "market" that dictates prices) exchange one to another or just straight up buy them with credits.
You need those minerals to buy permanent upgrades, craft overclocks, cosmetics and to get promotions (basically prestige). But you will be swimming in them and credits after like 20 hours. So the entire system is just flavor since the game is about mining minerals.
Seeing what we've seen with the past few seasons, do you think GSG has what it takes to do that? It took them almost seven and a half months to shit out season 4, the longest gap between seasons we've had, and it's also the most content-anemic season we've had.
I killed the game for myself by doing everything there is to be done. Even with the double points going on, I just did the summer assignment and left again. The update was okay
I don't think it's content creep so much as we got regular updates when the game wasn't in season format and most of them haven't matched those updates in things to do.
That is content creep. The point is that you can't endlessly support a game with new content without degrading what made it good to begin with. There is almost always a simple elegance that is lost.
live in SEA
mostly my teammates are chinese
ever heard of those tofu project? yeah they did this in the game too
by god some of them are really good but 25% of them really really should stay away from guns and construction projects
75% of them move like a wuxian master through the cave, handle dreadnaughts like children
but the other 25% of them can't differentiate a dwarf from a bug
I can wait for more stuff to come down the line. The majority hate waiting and will settle for mediocre shit if it means they get it now. There was a bug where promoting a dwarf would reset the weekly core hunt assignment, and when it got rightfully patched out people lost their shit so hard, the devs bent the knee and implemented the bug without having to do the assignment. Frick did that get my blood boiling. So the devs are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
>and encourage different playstyles
lol no >hear tail's scream >immediately sprint sideway and continue to shoot (while moving) >hear septic sound >sprint sideway and continue to shoot (while moving) >neither tail nor septic appear >shoot while moving and sprint to kite
literally nothing changed
Stingtail has so little unarmored surface it makes armor breaking valuable instead of a crutch, and septic spreader can fire from the high ground without direct line of sight so you can't defend the low ground as easily.
Try playing above Haz-3 once in a while.
>Stingtail has so little unarmored surface
And? Are you assuming I'm not running armor break on all builds? >septic spreader can fire from the high ground
inconsequential. You don't need to change your playstyle for these two crawlers.
You would know if you actually played above Hazard 4.5 for over 2100 hours.
Most people were not running AB on most builds because it was simply not worth it, even with mediocre aim and quite a few buffs to AB mods: and I'm not talking about splash damage AB being non-functional.
You also underestimate how many players are STILL holding low ground as they get melted away.
I don't, they're still in the wrapping waiting for me to decide. I had thought about putting the four of them into one bigger frame, just haven't gotten around to it.
>good morning cruel world 🙁 >hello sunshine 🙁 >IT'S A NEW DAY, YOU GOT THIS DWARF xD
Why did they reddit the frick out of the dialogue? I also heard they removrd a lot of the battle lines because the homosexual ttv Black folk were crying about muh cursing effecting their shekels. I fricking hate sanitization and it especially has no business in DRG.
>Spaghetti code that discourages the devs from making anything remotely complex and in-depth >Discord and reddit mentality, never looking at any other forms of feedback >Started a publishing group, putting focus away from the game
Yeah game's fricked, don't know what to tell you
I just want them to think outside the box with updates. Every update just adds more and more shit to the caves, clogging them up. It's like a Bethesda gameworld now where there's something to do every 5 meters. Holy shit, do something with the error cube. Maybe make a new gamemode where you run on the surface of the planet and dive down into surface level caves? Fricking anything besides "we added a new event into the levels. We're really great at game design"
This
Deep Rock is slowly getting the Warframe treatment. Wide but shallow. They need something that fundamentally change our approach to missions
And for fricks sake focus on the mining/explore part.
the core gameplay has been the same for half a decade. the core gameplay needs to be expanded. they've redone the perks. they've redone the beers. they've redone the gunplay. they've redone the models. they keep refining the game, but having the same core gameplay gets old after 400 hours. I mean I am a die hard fan of this game and after 400 hours there's nothing I haven't done, and there is no update that will make the game feel fresh at this point.
Expanding on the core gameplay and changing the core gameplay are two entirely different things
If you wanted to expand on what we currently have, the simplest example would be making new mission types
If you wanted to take it a bit further, you could easily make missions feel more diverse by incorporating elements such as the drilldozer to be used in multiple scenarios and not just for the heartstone (like maybe calling it down to drill through hard rock impeding your progress)
I don't know why the devs aren't being more liberally creative with this game, unless they're making a second game with better systems in place
they could add something new to do that's not just a rando-generated cave. like I said, a mode on the surface of the planet. maybe a mode where you defend the space rig. a mode where you can build structures like minecraft. a mode where you encounter an elven factory. just something outside the box you know
If you want to maximize your chances, try playing rounds in infected territory that DON'T have the cleanup event modifier. Just like the big meteor, I don't think this boss spawns on stages that have the infection spires.
Their terrain physics is too good to go to waste. I feel like they need to think on how to make a scary glyphid that completely changes it like the bulk detonator.
You could make a tunneling worm, like the ones from Noita. Trawler is kind of like this but not really, since it stays near the surface and doesn't disrupt terrain whatsoever.
they already have the sandshark and enemies like that can get annoying in a conventional first person perspective since you cant really track where they are or where theyre going. The shark is managable since it spends a lot of time skimming the surface
Yeah I literally mentioned the trawler. But if a big long worm arcs from ground to ground, it's not the same type of fight as the trawler, even if it's not easy.
the real problem with the 4 seasonal updates so far is like everyone said, they didn't add a lot of content, but more importantly the content they DID add is mostly just rare events. the weapons, sabotage, and now the 2 new enemies are major content that sticks around at least, but everything else is just stuff that has a small chance to happen. so it doesn't feel like anything actually was added in the patches because most of the time it doesn't exist. I got a prospector data deposit last night and it surprised me because it's been months since I've seen one of those and I kinda forgot about them. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a prospector, nemesis, com router, or even rival presence mutator, so it's like that content barely even exists. and once s5 starts and all the plague stuff becomes less common, the meteors, meteor showers, corrupter, and lithophage outbreak mutator (and all the rockpox enemies that spawns) will become equally rare. so the game is still fun, but it feels like it hasn't really gotten much content in the past 2 years. and that's not to mention that robots and rockpox enemies are not well designed, because if you don't have a weapon with good accuracy or heat, then you're just fricked. oh what's that, driller can just drill through the rockpox enemies, making up for his lack of precision weapons to burst their blisters? better nerf the shit out of that, making it completely nonviable! it reduces the effectiveness of a lot of builds because they can't deal with that shit
I started playing yesterday and I'm having a blast so far.
I mostly play solo because I don't want to be dead weight, I joined a couple of missions and everyone seems extremely faster than me at doing everything and I find myself not really knowing what to do halfway through, I end up with the least kills/minerals in the end screen too. I play scout mostly because it's too dark to see otherwise.
Right now I'm playing lv3 hazard missions with the scout at level 11, at which point should I actually start to play more online without being useless, and when should I start with hazard 4 missions? Also is armor penetration useful as an upgrade, most of the enemies including a boss with healthbar seem to have very obvious weakspots anyway
unfortunately true
I told you gays dailies and MMO-tier grinds were going to hurt the game long term
You didn't fricking listen
That's not the problem.
This is the problem. I hope to God they're working on a different game behind the scenes because I know they can do better than this.
>I hope to God they're working on a different game behind the scene
Aren't they working on a spin-off? DRG Survivor?

you can unlock everything in 200 hours, compared to say Overwatch 2 which requires 2 years of non-stop play to unlock 1 skin without paying
What
said but also,
There’s microtransactions but they’re only cosmetics. Like
said the amount of new content has been dwindling but if you’re a new player you’ll have shitloads to do and unlock. It’s a bit of a hugbox but there’s no “report” system so the worst backlash you’ll get is being kicked from the game or blocked
Few corrections to
>Are there microtransactions?
No paid game with paid dlc, microtransactions or battle passes should ever be played. This pile of shit has all three
Go back to troonytide
I'm worried bros...
I don't think they're gonna back down from the season pass, I think this is our future...
Season pass itself isn't a problem, they just need to put in more content each season like new biomes, new enemy factions, new equipment and such.
Seeing what we've seen with the past few seasons, do you think GSG has what it takes to do that? It took them almost seven and a half months to shit out season 4, the longest gap between seasons we've had, and it's also the most content-anemic season we've had.
>future
>assuming it'll continue
Dude the game is done. I doubt there will be more than 6 seasons before they talk about a sequel.
I killed the game for myself by doing everything there is to be done. Even with the double points going on, I just did the summer assignment and left again. The update was okay
Why the frick do people want endless content creep so badly? It is very rare for it to NOT kill a game.
I don't think it's content creep so much as we got regular updates when the game wasn't in season format and most of them haven't matched those updates in things to do.
That is content creep. The point is that you can't endlessly support a game with new content without degrading what made it good to begin with. There is almost always a simple elegance that is lost.
There isn't much competition in the PvE market right now, DRG pretty much is the best in it's category but it's getting slate.
live in SEA
mostly my teammates are chinese
ever heard of those tofu project? yeah they did this in the game too
by god some of them are really good but 25% of them really really should stay away from guns and construction projects
75% of them move like a wuxian master through the cave, handle dreadnaughts like children
but the other 25% of them can't differentiate a dwarf from a bug
>tofu project? yeah they did this in the game too
what
I can wait for more stuff to come down the line.
DRG devs treat the game like an MMO for no fricking reason, whoever keeps telling them to design stuff that way needs to be demoted to janny
devs killed the game by nerfing all the fun stuff into the ground
The 2 new enemies are fun and encourage different playstyles than the previous meta, good enough for me.
>and encourage different playstyles
lol no
>hear tail's scream
>immediately sprint sideway and continue to shoot (while moving)
>hear septic sound
>sprint sideway and continue to shoot (while moving)
>neither tail nor septic appear
>shoot while moving and sprint to kite
literally nothing changed
You also underestimate how many players are STILL holding low ground as they get melted away.
>doing EDD
>find boots
>can't take em to the next stage
cmon gsg, let a man have fun
can't wait for 1-2 more years for darktide to mog this game :^)
Surprisingly, the game's population is still growing.
i just got this game, its actually alot of fun if you dont grind it
who thought forcing you to clean the corruption like a janny as a primary objective was a good idea?
you vill spray and suck up the jizz
Thanks Mission Control
Objectively false. Current season isn't very good, but it's irrelevant; seasonal nature means it'll get rotated out.
did anyone else get the art prints from the board game? what do you have them displayed in?
I don't, they're still in the wrapping waiting for me to decide. I had thought about putting the four of them into one bigger frame, just haven't gotten around to it.
>good morning cruel world 🙁
>hello sunshine 🙁
>IT'S A NEW DAY, YOU GOT THIS DWARF xD
Why did they reddit the frick out of the dialogue? I also heard they removrd a lot of the battle lines because the homosexual ttv Black folk were crying about muh cursing effecting their shekels. I fricking hate sanitization and it especially has no business in DRG.
>Spaghetti code that discourages the devs from making anything remotely complex and in-depth
>Discord and reddit mentality, never looking at any other forms of feedback
>Started a publishing group, putting focus away from the game
I mean I'm not complaining about playing a game for 400 hours, worth its money, but the past 2 years of updates is what's laughable
the core gameplay is why people like the game and why it isn't losing players, why would they dramatically change that? are you stupid?
Expanding on the core gameplay and changing the core gameplay are two entirely different things
If you wanted to expand on what we currently have, the simplest example would be making new mission types
If you wanted to take it a bit further, you could easily make missions feel more diverse by incorporating elements such as the drilldozer to be used in multiple scenarios and not just for the heartstone (like maybe calling it down to drill through hard rock impeding your progress)
I don't know why the devs aren't being more liberally creative with this game, unless they're making a second game with better systems in place
agreed, theres a lot potential to add more interesting missions and my biggest hope is that the next season focuses exploring the surface
they've been saying no surface shit for years now
>zero gravity interferes too much with traversal tools
>but heres rocket boots
they could add something new to do that's not just a rando-generated cave. like I said, a mode on the surface of the planet. maybe a mode where you defend the space rig. a mode where you can build structures like minecraft. a mode where you encounter an elven factory. just something outside the box you know
Yep its true
I have played like 20 rounds and still haven't seen the new boss, is this thing tyrant weed tier rare?
If you want to maximize your chances, try playing rounds in infected territory that DON'T have the cleanup event modifier. Just like the big meteor, I don't think this boss spawns on stages that have the infection spires.
Ah I see i'll give it a try thanks
I love this game so much but there needs to be new weapons, and perks not seasons and missions
DWARFS ARISE
There's nothing WRONG with this season, it's all good stuff. It's just not substantial enough for people who played for years already.
BLACKED RAW, YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
the real problem with the 4 seasonal updates so far is like everyone said, they didn't add a lot of content, but more importantly the content they DID add is mostly just rare events. the weapons, sabotage, and now the 2 new enemies are major content that sticks around at least, but everything else is just stuff that has a small chance to happen. so it doesn't feel like anything actually was added in the patches because most of the time it doesn't exist.
