Was it or not a good design?
Do you feel like it feels out of place to the other pre-evos?

Post some more Kingambit art, while at it.
What the frick is Meira doing there?
Kingambit is a Meira pokemon
>any of the line ever using weapons
good art but that ruins it
i think it should've had a regional variant that instead focused on how a samurai would become a general rather than piggybacking from chess pieces
>piggybacking from chess pieces
That's literally a localization problem and not a design one.
explain
Aren't the japanese names themed after Shogi pieces?
I don't know shit about Shogi, what are even the pieces called?
Pawniard's JP name:
Komatana may be a combination of 駒 koma (a piece in the board game Shogi), 細切れ komagire (small pieces), and 刀 katana (sword) or 小刀 kogatana (knife).
Admittedly there's nothing for Bisharp and Kingambit, picrel for Shogi pieces
So, what IS exactly for bisharp/kingambit then in japanese if not shogi?
Do they also go for chess?
I already explained this in another thread, but I'll do it again.
駒 is not "a shogi piece" in the sense that it refers to a specific piece. It's how you refer to ANY piece. They use "Koma" for all pieces, chess pieces too (if the Japanese ever talked about chess)
It's not meant to be a reference to shogi, it's meant to classify a pawniard as a low ranking mook, or grunt. He's "a piece", an easily movable part of a whole.
In this sense the "pawn" in pawniard is a good translation, the rest of the chess references are taken out of their ass because localisers think the "american people" don't know what samurai are.
And just to prove I'm not a pseud, here:
First picture is Jisho, which takes its definition from the JMdict, which is free-to-contribute, open-source and the most used J-E dictionary.
Second picture is the Daijirin(大辞林) fourth edition from 2019, it's one of the most comprehensive and detailed J-J dictionaries.
I encircled two definitions which are important, I'll translate them here.
>(3) In shogi, chess, and sugoroku, something that moves on a board
>(8) Something under one's influence, people and things that one can freely use
The reason Bulba says it's a "shogi piece" is for the same reason it says "Bisharp may draw inspiration from a chess piece". Because they can only thinks of things through an American view, and if the line is Chess in English, then in Japanese it HAS to be shogi. It can't be anything else.
They're brainlets and don't actually know Japanese.
Small correction, the first definition is:
>(3) In games LIKE shogi, chess, and sugoroku, something that moves on a board
I didn't see the など there. It's not a term just for those three games.
>anon actually backing up and explaining his claims
>also shits on bulbapedia in the process
Thank you anon
Terrible OP image.
Out of place walking and running animation.
I love how he has his hands placed in battle, it’s domineering but in a cool smug way
Good design, poorly executed. If he wasn't constantly sitting he could have some really cool, imposing animations, but instead he looks moronic always sitting and his animations equally suffer
MEIRA BALLS
It's dogshit. Kingambit is a literal human in a costume.
It’s not bad but it makes me question why? Bisharp was already good. And in a sense, they kinda took its theme and made it bigger with more blades. It’s kind of weird because Bisharps evolution looks more like a Mega Bisharp to me than something that actually functions in the wild.
meira balls
>kneels to attack
what were they thinking?
what do you think 土下座 means?
pronebone.
Meira balls!
>Meira
from WHERE did you get this pic OP?
/v/hu
Ganker has regular touhou threads in which people use the archive, by using "Meira" to find it since jannies delete it often
It's kind of shitpost-y at times but they sure make a lot of good OC
also there's that one guy (bantgay?) who gets asshurt over meira and people poke fun at him for it. iirc that was the reason she got spammed in the first place, or at least part of it
GET OUT OF MY HEAD
GET OUT OF MY HEAD
I feel like at Supreme Overlord 4 and 5 he should actually stand up to show how serious he is now
Too much work for nugamefreak.
These pants look silly.
Kingambit looks like it can effortlessly lift and choke Tinkaton.
That's not really such a big bar to pass
MY FUARKING HERO KINGAMBIT
and Meira.
