general:
>way too long
>repetitive
>nothing to do except do quests
Gameplay:
>tons of reused enemies
>either too easy or annoying to play due to damage sponge enemies depending on difficulty
>same generic loot table wherever you go
>oversized MMO dungeons
>most of the combat consists of spamming the same 2 or 3 attack chains with the weapon of your choice and using the same 3-4 useful spells
Visuals:
>pretty scenery, but it's a completely static backdrop
>tons of reused assets
>ugly weapon and armor design
Story:
>5 hours worth of plot in a 40 hour game
>zero ways to interact with the world beyond getting info-dumps from npcs that talk really slowly
>MMO quest design
so what went right? It looks pretty for the most part. It has some inklings of an interesting world. The elves are hot. That's it for me. Thoughts?
It looks and feels like a game that started out as an MMO and then was turned into an SP game as money ran out only to quickly pushed out as a new publisher took over who didnt want to invest a single cent more into it.
Because thats exactly what happened.
Great world-building, interesting story, weak characters, plot feels disjointed if you do sidequests, leveling system is beyond moronic.
Since set-item drops are tied to your level good luck of completing a single one before you outlevel the levelrange the pieces drop in.
It's not a RPG. It's a generic action-adventure game. The action part is quite decent, but the adventure is not good.
Wrong board
>Thoughts?
Shitty marketing for a game with budged this big.
>story
there are no story, its a classic go kill a dark lord or something "plot"
>there's no story
>proceeds to talk about the story
Same tier as buzzword gays.
A generic plot is still a plot
>kingdoms of amalur reckoning
>there's no kingdoms
>the area the game takes place in is called the faylands
at least your character does get reckoning, but you don't know that until right at the end of the game so it's not something you strive for so I'll give them half a point
how do you frick up this bad?
It's one of those games you regret playing.
I literally don't remember anything about it apart from the Roman Gnomes.
I'm one of the few people that liked it despite its mmo nature
>The elves are hot
I mean, slightly better than hideous shit like Dragon Age/Divinity elves but really?
They're good enough
Alin being the only non vomit inducing elf in the entire game doesn't salvage them, and she's still a 6/10
>elf
Pretty sure they were fairies.
Dokkalfar=/=Fae
They're both ugly as shit
you can create a cute elf. btw this outfit is completely lore friendly
the alfar are elves, it' the fae that are faries sort of
its what happens when an MLB player tries to make an mmo, blows his life fortune on it and ends up broke. should have stuck to baseball, fricker
He probably was in the honeymoon phase of WoW when it was at its peak and with a little Dunning-Kruger effect and a shit ton of money, he did what he did.
That's exactly what happened. It still blows my mind as mediocre as it is that it turned out to be a decent game at all.
>Rhode Island
Seriously, wtf, lol.
Decent? It's a very rough action game.
I'd say it's pretty decent. Fun but gets repetitive. Kinda thing you play for a while then only ever touch again to satisfy brief itches
I thought EQ was his jam.
I'm surprised so many people here hate it. I thought it was pretty fun. Overstays its welcome with its length, but I like to throw it on every so often and beat some enemies up
it's playable in short passes every now and again but if I burn out quickly
Sounds like morrowind
Should have reworked UI.
It's fricking insufferable in 2022.
it sucks but it has character. I'll take it every day over modern soulless black and white mobile UI tiles
how long is the new expansion? Kinda cool they actually made one
