It's a game of "minimize loses to snowball". As such you'll be learning how to kite around the more difficult encounters until later. I loved the earlier ones.

depends on the slot and what items you have, children are usually better than a glove or belt slot and can even sometimes be better than regalia and artifacts if you haven't gotten anymore good ones.

The orc treats beating women as a boring 9 to 5 he puts up with for his family.
I never liked how you couldn't have an army all one unit. Every unit is only supposed be one stack, so if you want more stacks then you have to divide that one max stack.

its designed to make you use a variety of troops otherwise everyone would be running 5 full stacks of archers
seems like an incredibly gay way to counter balance something that should be balanced by gameplay, e.g. fast melee units that nothin personnel over to archers on battle start
it is actually quite odd as archers are "balanced" by having cannoneers or elves or goblins not even available until after you've gone through half the game or more already
