The diving and gunplay revolving around it heavily mimics MGSV, I think someone had a comparison webm of it
Obviously completely different games but it's very interesting to see
the gunplay just feels good, narrowly avoiding an attack by diving back and keep shooting while you feel your teammates deliver a rain of iron from behind you are incredible moments
I've just started playing and I don't get mucch free time to game these days but I really enjoy all of the little gun autism details that they didn't have to put on the game
I was using the first shotgun you unlock and looking at the model I realized it's basically a UTAS-15, then I noticed the tube maga selector on the rear and thought "I wonder if that does what I think it does", and it did and I smiled and attempted to explain it to my friends and they didn't GET it

A game where you shoot the arachnids from Starship Troopers and random robots from [Insert generic science fiction game / movide from the last 100 years here] is the "renaissance era of gaming"? Helldivers 2 is a fun shooting game, but you're being ridiculous. It's not a revolutionary game like Doom, Command & Conquer, R-type, Mega Man, etcetera.
