bro, honestly, australia seems like a horrible place to live
moronic politicians that can censor and control whatever the frick they want, hard to import shit, fricking hot, giant insects everywhere, chinks everywhere, a chunk of the population descends from literal convicts, probably some weird chink timezone, probably shit internet
Yeah, I was planning on grabbing physical Switch as I like physical copies and just pirating it on PC but I'm not paying fricking $90 for Klonoa. It'd have to be a fricking god-tier remake to warrant that.
It's fricking $84.99 here in Nee Zealand, what the frick? It would literally be cheaper for me to get a VPN and buy the game while pretending to be in the country right next door.
*most profiting
A single Steam Deck sale ranges from 400 to 650 bucks. A single game sale is 40 to 60 bucks usually.
Best seller doesn't track copies, it tracks most dollar sales.
Steam Deck's sales are also held back by the fact they don't make sales by demand but by shipment.
So, klonoa is selling more, than the dollar sales of Steam decks current shipments. Steam Deck doesn't sell until your reserve is up, and it's still just shipments for the first week or so of reservations.
tried some basic color adjustments
there's no saving that ugly cliffside voronoi texture though, both the contrast and level of detail makes it stick out like a sore thumb
For your information I was only 1 year old when Klonoa 2 first released. I was probably shitting myself and being a general pain in the ass, as babies tend to be.
My first exposure to Klonoa was through a Toys R Us demo station and I was so short and the brightness so low I couldn't see fricking anything but it seemed cool
I thought the remaster of 2 was gonna be a lot more slight but now that comparison footage exists, it looks like a complete asset overhaul?? Nothing bar the general level layout looks the same, I thought they just tweaked the lighting and uprezzed some elements
They would have had to, since the Wii remake was a vast visual step up over 2, and it'd have stood out like a sore thumb in this package for the sequel to look worse.
so they made it look like absolute shit from an art direction standpoint, and there's not even particle effects in La-Lakoosha, the moody lighting is gone, and it costs as much as an AAA game here, it's an absolute shit show.
That's fair, I only ever played the original version of 1 and never had a Wii. I only recently replayed 2 on original hardware and it still looks great, but I can see how it might look lacking by comparison. I'm just surprised at how thorough the remaster is, looks like everything was rebuilt from scratch more like a remake than anything
>PS2 original - More texturing variety happening, but everything is so fricking dark >New version - Better clarity, but texture repetition, no environment lighting at fricking all. Green water. The water flowing out is way too fricking visible from the opening unlike in the PS2
They both have problems, it's really a give-or-take situation.
I may hate this soulless ass remake but $40 for two semi-remakes of 2.5D platformers? That aint too bad in current year. Ofc should be like $30 but its not like its 50-60
What's with everything in Klonoa 2 being shrouded in shadows in most of the screenshots I've seen posted here the past month? Even Klonoa 1 had a lot of moments of being well lit in some of the maps.
>Re-release old game. >Don't give a shit how polished it is, let the autistic weirdos -I mean, "dedicated fans"- figure out this niche as they modfix the rest of the work that should've been done out of love/hate
Every fricking time.
Here's the real secret bro, this cycle has never actually happened in a long ass time
What was the last really broken game that fans had to come in and really fix up? That shit hasn't truly happened since Dark Souls 1 DSFix.
And no replacing 2 mp3s in Sonic Origins doesnt count. LOL
>And no replacing 2 mp3s in Sonic Origins doesnt count.
Origins has tons of other things wrong with it you disingenuous frick, that's like the LEAST of its issues. But sure, on the topic of Sonic, you can add the Adventure games as well.
>Origins has tons of other things wrong with it you disingenuous frick, that's like the LEAST of its issues.
I think that's his point because nothing else has been fixed last I checked.
Calm down. I just said that because I know some smartass would have replied and said "actually people fixed sonic origins". I literally agree origins is a trainwreck. > you can add the Adventure games as well.
true. What people did with the SADX PC port is a miracle. I dont know about SA2 though
>ace combat you moron, and thats a lot more relevant than your ex-naughty dog shovelware since it's bamco
The only reason Ace Combat is coming back is because Kono actually managed to pull off the impossible and make an above average game, which bamco wanted to axe every step of the way. With the way things have gone the past two years I don't even think we'll see another Ace Combat knowing how fricking stupid is.
The pixel shader looks so weird but actually kind of neat. I dig this so far.
Only on 3-1 but Klonoa is pretty comfy so far, shame it took me this long to get around to actually playing it.
I will never support this garbage ass practice of holding series hostage by forcing people to buy shitty games, how the frick are klonoa fans just licking this shit up
>how the frick are klonoa fans just licking this shit up
Klonoa fans have been wanting SOMETHING for over a decade now, of course they'd be buying this up the first chance they get. Even though Bamco's advertising is shit, the internet is MUCH faster than it used to be, so word of mouth can get anything a long way.
People are buying it anyway because Namco is literally holding Klonoa hostage saying "If this is successful we'll do more stuff with Klonoa, or else we won't"
these aren't new klonoa games moron.
they are far worse asset flip versions of classic titles. they should be paying us compensation for making these insulting piles of crap.
>pay someone to come fix your roof >he says he'll come tomorrow >takes 7 months, only finally doing it because he needs the money >does a shoddy job >hey what the frick, why did you do a shit job? >YoU ShOuLD Be ThAnKfuL YoUR RoOF iS FiNaLlY FiXed, BuSTER
Frick off.
Publishers like Namco have realized that people will consoom literally anything with a brand name they recognize and so have stopped even pretending to make an effort.
its the psx voice acting, wii had remade phantomilian language, not sure why they didnt include that.
Also, they fricking put a button there to stop moronic players staring at the screen for minutes on these parts where yuou actually had to push square, fricking lol
IT TEACHES YOU TO DO THIS IN THE FIRST FRICKING LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Frick these shit c**t monkey devs. undermining the perfect intuitiveness of the originals design.

You sure this wasn't just part of the Wii version this port piggybacks off of?
the only wii game was klonoa 1 and that didn't have cancerous pop up tutorials and button prompts. it had 1 or 2 optional signs on the side path you could read.

idgi, are you guys saying they didnt include the jibberish language?
NTA
They did, but only the original playstation version. Not a big deal to me, I like it, but some people prefer the higher quality wii version of the jibberish language (phantomilian language)
I'm just happy to anything Klonoa related in an official capacity. Hiccups are to be expected or at least I'm fine with them at the moment considering how long the franchise has been dormant. The only way I will stop supporting Klonoa is if they don't learn from their mistakes.
>buy x if you want x to come back to life
When has this ever actually been successful in games industry besides maybe a one-off misadventure?
Don't complain then when Klonoa becomes dead again. I at least want to see more attempts with the franchise and will support it until their stupidity and stubbornness has gone on for too long. They're obviously not going to spend a lot of time and effort on something if it doesn't sell and will never be good enough for autistic perfectionists/purists.
At least the PS1 version is easy to emulate so thankfully there's that. I wish devs more often would include an emulation of the original game when trying to sell a remaster. That way, even if people are unhappy with the remastered graphics or 3D, they can always have the original game again.
are any windows 7 gays on standby to test if this works or am i going to have to wait for a repack?
i've seen this "CONSOOM PRODUCT OR [insert beloved mascot character here] GETS A BULLET PLANTED IN THEIR SKULL" marketing ploy multiple times with shitty remakes/remasters in the last couple of years (sonic origins just came out two weeks ago) and i'm fricking sick of it. i shouldn't have to defend corporate incompetency and corruption just to see media i like get treated well but this problem extends far, far beyond bamco and sega
Sonic is at least a popular character, there will never stop being Sonic games made. People complained about Travis Strikes Again, I enjoyed that game and still got No More Heroes 3, so I don't feel guilty at all in the slightest supporting Klonoa until he can get back on his feet.

at least klonoa got a small handful of games that are consistently good whereas sega and sonic team have been busy raping the sonic ip's rotting husk for the last decade or more. be grateful you're not a sonicgay

Just saying, whenever I've supported something like this, I've gotten what I wanted and I don't give money to devs who I know won't listen to me or feedback on their product. When you do nothing but complain and can't come into an agreement or enjoy anything about the work they did, that's when devs rightfully ignore you for being an insufferable prick like how Sonic devs ignore fans because nothing will ever be good enough for what any one particular part of the fanbase wants and it's hard to guess what they want when so many people like Sonic for a variety of different reasons.
That being said. Yeah, it's way easier though to get what you want when it's a smaller franchise and the devs are a fan of their own work like with Suda51 and NMH3.

what an amazing looking game. this game never needed to be remade in 3d. frick israelites
I know some people will prefer the original resolution and all that, but playing in duckstation @1080p without dithering was just mindblowing visually.
Klonoa games are good BECAUSE the devs had talent, passion and effort.
mankeyBlack personcraft are a shitty mobile studio that churns out garbage. namco have already poisoned the well and killed klonoa by giving it to them.
>Don't complain then when Klonoa becomes dead again
Scamco didn't even bother marketing the little fricker. They threw the remake out to Monkey Craft instead of doing it themselves. They clearly don't give a frick about the future of the series.
Hiring hoe-girlve vtubers to play it qualifies as global advertising even if only the japanese ones play it.
Of course, that's all they did.

Mascot characters will always have better marketing in non-US countries. Toyota Gazoo Racing's mascots are well known in JP and EU, but are absent in the US because mascots are not popular in the US. When I asked about why that is: >mascot characters are seen as childish and would not appeal to adults.

WOOOOOWWWW one small board inbetween buildings so it can't even be seen by oncoming traffic. Anyways nips don't buy games anymore unless it's nintentrash or MH, and especially don't buy platformers, so this is worthless. They needed to market in the west where people actually like platformers.

They could have just bundled the original games, maybe thrown in some GBA ones
Like the Castlevania and Contra collections
I can agree with or respect that, I believe almost every remaster/remake should come with a copy of the original game unchanged or untouched for new players who don't pirate, but source code can get lost understandably.
Glad to know you're easily pleased with mediocrity.
Because I always have the original game. I'm not going to get upset at a remaster. The positives here is that more people are becoming aware of the Klonoa series and can easily emulate the PS1 game if they don't like the remaster too. If the remaster works for them, then who fricking cares? You don't have to buy the remaster, I'm not trying to convince you to. I'm just saying I bought them because I felt like supporting Klonoa no matter what fashion.
>BUY KATAMARI REROLL OR WE'LL NEVER GET NEW KATAMARI GAMES >4 years later they couldn't even give this the same treatment
Frick you, I'm not falling for it again.
It's the Spyro threads all over again. Everything used to be comfy man, now everyone's hyper autistic as shit to the point that they keep saying the same shit over and over and over again, and others have to join in either to shit post or become a part of the hivemind. It's like a weird form of mass contrarianism, as oxy-moronic as it sounds.
>It's the Spyro threads all over again
I say it anytime I have a chance. those fricking morons b***hing about the graphics, and bara dragons are the reason spyro 3 is still unpatched and broken. my save file is still borked cause a gem never spawned in cloud spires/and extra spawned in villa. frick those clowns.
>those fricking morons b***hing about the graphics, and bara dragons are the reason spyro 3 is still unpatched and broken.
What is even the relation there
rather than b***hing about actual problems and demanding activation fix it, they b***hed about irrelevant, unfix-able problems like art direction. if the games community wasn't filled with morons like this we would have better games

Frick off you dumb homosexual.
how exactly should they have b***hed about the games being buggy before release, when the majority of people talking about the hideous graphics was? And also, you're a fricking subhuman inbred worm for ever saying that artstyle is irrelevant or unfixable in spyro of all fricking games, have a nice day

modding assets shouldn't be too hard (i think people use asset studio nowadays)
code is a lot harder to deal with since you need to work with decompiled .net
i'd be open to helping out with reworking textures i guess
we need to remove the unity toony colors pro shaders they got from the assets store and replace them with real shaders. there's so much work to do to unfrick it. I don't even know how we're going to fix the broken animations.
decompiling the ps2 game at this rate seems easier.
>we need to remove the unity toony colors pro shaders they got from the assets store and replace them with real shaders. there's so much work to do to unfrick it
Yeah that's never going to happen. At best we'll get some horrid reshade stuff slapped on top.
>"we" need to do stuff!
You ain't going to do shit and no one fricking cares. People are going to play their nostalgia games for babies, finish them in a day and then forget about the franchise for another 10+ years. Play with your toys and shut up, impotent homosexual.
I have a Deck and a Switch. I have no idea which I should get this on. The Switch is much more comfortable to hold but it's going to look so much better on the Deck.
Why do people keep saying Crash 4 is a bad game? Sure, the levels are a bit long and NuTawna is a big hamfisted, but other than that it's a pretty decent game. If anything, all this is teaching me is that it's all the same damn people complaining about every SINGLE recent platformer.
So hows Klonoa 2's remake? I never expected the first game's remake to surpass the PSX version because that game is a visual masterpiece but Klonoa 2 was pretty ugly even back in the day so I'm less opposed to a remaster/make. It better then the original PS2 version?
>get it on JP eShop >it really is that bright
I figured it was OLED footage or something. You know, where they have that one brightness setting thing on by default.
i dont have the original ps2 photo but the colors were a lot better and you could actually see less of that island over there. at least pic related looks good minus the excessive saturation
Reminder that all you are doing by buying this is demonstrating to Namco that you are willing to eat the lowest quality shit imaginable. That's the only lesson they will take away from this selling well.

I'm feeling a massive amount of deja-vu, these threads are starting to sound like the Spyro ones from a few years ago. You better not be the same people from back then.
>I'm feeling a massive amount of deja-vu, these threads are starting to sound like the Spyro ones from a few years ago
and you've been sitting in the threads saying the same shit too
Some of the autists are, but the visual changes aren't bothering me outside of the loss of the cell shading on characters. It's not like Spyro where the entire fricking visual language of every map was changes for no reason.
Knowing Ganker they probably are. I avoid this board like the fricking plague unless there's a game I like, people are just too fricking pessimistic now. In the case of Klonoa, I had saw it was going to be released on Steam in an hour and decided to wait here until it did.
Let's say hypothetically, the remakes do well enough to actually warrant a sequel... we do we take the series from here? What do you want out of a new sequel?
>All these people saying the games look horrible and ugly
Granted they look like they did nothing but slapped HD textures on the original models but they don't look downright horrible? It looks like a standard port. Hell Klonoa 1 looks way better then the washed out Wii version.
Does the game have any REAL issues like fricked up mechanics or are they fine?
the games are fine, they play well, i don't know if it's just me but when you move in klonoa 2 and shoot a weind bullet sometimes you have to be just inches away from an enemy to pick it up, i don't remember needing to be so close to some enemies while you're moving. might be just me misremebering
>but they don't look downright horrible?
Call me a nostalgiagay all you want. I think Reverie 1 and Wii Klonoa are hideous. That aside, the games are fine aside from some minor audio shit.
Let's say hypothetically, the remakes do well enough to actually warrant a sequel... we do we take the series from here? What do you want out of a new sequel?
I have Klonoa 2 on PS2 but never played the first game, is this collection worth getting?
Kind of split between buying this or Capcom Fighting Collection on Switch.
The PS1 game is easy to emulate. Phantasy Reverie is worth it if you think it's worth it. Nothing's inherently wrong the actual game, just people b***hing about graphics.
Anything as long your party members actually stay out while you're controlling someone. But using wind bullets sound hideous looking from back of Klonoa so maybe top down.
Is there any replayability in these games? From what I’ve seen, they look like they’re each around 5 hours long, and that’s it. No incentive to replay them whatsoever. No wonder this series never took off.
Something to look forward to at the least while I work my way through Klonoa here.
>vaguely aware of the meme that Klonoa has a lot of porn >decide to look it up >it's Klonoa the character, not the series >its mostly gay furry shit
What the frick? I just assumed most people were cooming to Leorina or something
it looks worse like nearly every other modern remake.
Either they give it to a mobile game-tier studio and/or the devs just dont understand the first thing about lighting or stylization
So, did a quick playthrough of Door to Phantomville. PC impressions: Game feels good to play, as tight if not tighter than the original games. The extra content is appreciated and will extend the game considerably. There is an option to turn the bloom off but doing so does not make the game look better. Shadows are set to MEDIUM by default, definitely recommend setting those to ULTRA HIGH because it matters, a lot. Aesthetically, not as good as the originals, but an improvement over the orginal remake. Mostly looking from a gameplay standpoint here, these games are fine entries in the series. Asking price is a bit much imo, for comparison Mega Man 11 was just on sale for $10, today, a new entry made by a third party AAA dev of similar notoriety to bamco, so your fondness of the series is going to have weigh in here. Do not buy this if you aren't going for 100% completion and/or have an emotional attachment, but otherwise worth it.
>Shadows are set to MEDIUM by default, definitely recommend setting those to ULTRA HIGH because it matters, a lot.
Been playing the game as default but will try this next time I boot it up, if it matters that much.
Does the pixel filter improve it at all? Used it for a few levels since I kinda liked how it looked but it made some gems hard to see so I turned it off to help with 100%.
So I've played through the first level of Klonoa 1, and the first two levels of Klonoa 2, and I have some comments. I'm not upset I bought the game, but there are things about the remake that just doesn't sit well with me. The Animations in particular in a lot of cutscenes are just off, which is mainly what bothers me. Like the mouths in particular, especially in Klonoa 1 the animations are weird. I almost would have preferred them just giving us the original Klonoa 1 instead of the remade wiimake game. As for Klonoa 2, mainly I noticed that people seem incapable of making expressions like they could in the original ps2 title. I know there are scenes where Lolo would be smiling, but she just doesn't now. It's like they forgot or couldn't with her new model. Lastly, and this is a little subjective, but the canons that Klonoa gets shot out of feel off too. They don't make the loud loading sound with the hammer visibly wienering back most of the time like they did in the original.
That said, I actually do have to compliment some of Klonoa 2's redone texture work. Not all of them, but a lot of them I'm surprised I actually think look better than the original. Bakuji's scenes in particular look pretty good. Bakuji looks like he had a glow up, and so does the tree he sits under. Plus, a lot of the enemies look very cute when you grab them, with some making surprised faces that might have been in the original, but I feel are more pronounced here. They actually do look a lot cuter. All in all, I think I like this version of Klonoa 2, but I think it could be a lot better. Oh, the new textures on the dolls you collect look good too!
>I know there are scenes where Lolo would be smiling, but she just doesn't now. It's like they forgot or couldn't with her new model. time like they did in the original.
I fricking knew something was off, the cutscene where baguji's asks klonoa for help with lolo had her smiling in the ps2 version.
alkso volk city doesn't look too bad, i like that they kept the cartoonish proportions on the buildings
I don't think it's just Lolo either. I'm pretty sure there are scenes where Klonoa should be flashing a smile but the animation in the remake leaves it out for some reason. I don't understand why the remake is having such an issue with giving the character's expressions.

This is annoying because the monkeys made The Prince more expressive in REROLL
No no, I live in NZ. The game is $85 here. Its pretty high but when I thought about it, it's about $40 per game and I'd pay that. For context, a console game is about $110 here so it's actually cheap for me

Man they really fricked up the expressions in the important scenes. Could not get over him looking stoned out of his mind and smiling every time he talked, compared to how it was on PS1.
Why do publishers insist on hiring pajeet studios? Fricking hell.
At least Ubisoft realized on time the PoP:SoT remake was going to be a disaster so they moved development back in house. With Bamco had done the same here.
thanks for reminding me homie, just bought it, and played the first 2 visions of Door to Phantomile
its a bit janky visually and i SWEAR the controls arent 100% like the original, but so far, its alright, im just a bit disappointed because, the Original game was quite a looker in the PS1, and this one feels on the level of A Hat in Time, which doesnt look terrible, but its just an indie game
that being said, i think the artstyle is captured well compared to the original, the intro movie isnt as horrible as the youtube video led me to believe, i think this might be an OK way to experience the original game
oh also, the frickers used the original PS1 audio for the cutscenes, everyone sounds like they are underwater, i mean its cool they didnt rape my baby with a dub like the wii game but frick me, this is lazy
You should:
Import the remake on your platform of choice
Pirate the PS1 and PS2 games
Play them on PS1 and PS2.
Maybe check out the remake in a few years. Show your support now, but play the better versions.
Original had no counter either. Was either reload your save to start the start with a fresh 00, or just keep it in mind. The 2x sections are the worst though.
Do you not have a counter on your hub?
there's 150 per level. you can get more than 150 by skilful use of the 2x fairy.
The counter rotates, (playing PC, Klonoa 1) and there isn't a counter on how many collected per level. It just rotates around at 100, subtracts the 100 when reached (extra life) then continues counting.
welcome to hell, you though these games were easy? also this is volkan inferno. frick me
I mean, I wouldn't be upset, but I spent almost all my lives executing only 1 jump just to get all the gems, only to find out that I didn't collect enough gems with the 2x.
So now I have to repeat the level, being careful with the 2x AND do that jump again.
yeah you have to simply subtract the number you have at the start.
Klonoa 2 is better because it restarts you dreamstone count each level. I don't know why they didn't do that for 1.
it's one of the worst remasters ever made. right up there with GTA.
the visual glitches and bad art direction literally kill the games ability to set a mood or communicate the story to the player.
the characters expressions and animations being horribly broken is the final nail in the coffin.
I'm 35 but I hate these types of platformers. I was going to get this but I just don't have it in me. Exploration platformers are far better than linear run-left-and-right-and-collect-coins platformers. Crash Bandicoot always sucked.
I'm a little sad this remake is the only way for modern audiences to play Klonoa. Wish that Klonoa 1, the original ps1 version with 2d sprites, was actually offered as a port on modern systems. And I wish Klonoa 2 was available on any system outside of the ps2.
Both experimental and the default one it suggested. Going to try an older version or two later, since I wasn't expecting a Unity-engine game of all things to give Proton trouble.
Oh I guess that's fine then! How about you shut the frick up? It also drops frames on the PS4. The devs can't optimise for shit. Just another shitty remaster they couldn't be bothered to put effort into.
would it be that difficult or “bad” to just resale the original roms?
I know I can just emulate it but why the frick do these remasters never just also give you the original game?
is it that fricking hard or would everyone be able to tell the new shit they did is inferior?
I am.
I don't know what this shit meme about it being hard to emulate is. it runs perfectly on the latest pcsx2.
and looks 100x better than the shitty ports.
I have nothing, I'm just hoping Pac-Man returns to his former glory. I hated the Ghostly Adventures shit and I hated the soulless 80's rehash shit even more.
What do you feel it's janky? Maybe the ring hitbox changed because the difference of height between Wii and Reverie? I'm clueless since I didn't play this version yet
the ring hit detection is different for sure, also i swear to god theres almost no delay in the transition between jumping and flapping your ears to float, so damn near every jump i made was a floating jump at first before i got used to it
i also saw one enemy glitch out a little, those spinning spheres in the jungle level, instead of doing their usual patrol they were spinning in place
you get used to it, its not a deal breaker by any means, but i do feel a hint of jankyness

let me put it this way, in terms of remakes there are degrees of jank, theres:
>the game literally doesnt fricking work - GTA Trilogy levels of jank
and theres:
>only a complete autist would notice the difference - Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy levels of jank
The pill hitbox and fricking with the jump distances utterly raped the crash remake
whatever, autists, i finished crash 1 and didnt notice anything game breaking

>first ps1 game known for it's very stiff and unforgiving controls >N.Sane version makes it even worse somehow
It is objectively worse. How blissfully ignorant are you.

>How blissfully ignorant are you.
very blissful, homie, see thats my point, the level of jank in klonoa and crash wont be an issue in a casual playthrough
the game might have jank, but i didnt notice, thats the point

>very blissful, homie
Nice standards you got there. Thanks for letting Activision/Bamco get consistently get away with it every 5-10 years everytime they bait low standard nostalgiahomosexuals like you.
Man they really fricked up the expressions in the important scenes. Could not get over him looking stoned out of his mind and smiling every time he talked, compared to how it was on PS1.
No he's not smiling for me? Maybe you guys have a problem with your version settings or something.
Sonic Origins had physics differences because the new engine and some semi-automatic sections now put you in the wrong place and some springs just don't make you jump far enough. I wonder if I'm autist for noticing that (outside the countless bugs).
i didnt say those games dont have jank, but someone who isnt an autist about it isnt going to notice
you can play the game casually and not find any issues, same applies to Klonoa, I NOTICED because i vividly remember playing the game, but someone not as invested wont find an issue
Schizo theory time. Some Namco executives wanted to get back into the platform genre so they decided to bring back klonoa. Some time later a higher up with a huge hard on for the Pac man world games noticed this and said they should remake the world games instead. He convinced everyone to make both games and they 'll make more with the one that gets more sales. Then he use his influence to give world a bigger budget and more advertising.
What are the odds some eceleb reviews this game and suddenly Klonoa actually gets mainstream love outside of being remembered as "that one 2.5D ps1 platformer"
Is this a good or bad thing
>What are the odds some eceleb reviews this game and suddenly Klonoa actually gets mainstream love outside of being remembered as "that one 2.5D ps1 platformer"
I've seen MattMcMuscles and a few others shill it already. It's fitting because people like him have such shit taste that of course he would go to bat for a low effort remake that was whipped up in four months just to get some clout.
>How can he get clout when no one gives a shit about Klonoa?
That's literally what being a gaming youtuber eceleb is all about, dummy >HeY GuIsE, check out this ObScUrE HiDdEn GeM! >omg thank you eceleb man! your taste is impeccable can I suck your dick???
>fifty euro in the EU
Love that people are still using that drawing I did 8yrs ago, especially with the Klonoa resurgence
You didn't draw it you fricking homosexual, I did.
>50 euro
>1 eur = 1.02 USD
lol
lmao even
good shit bamco
Cheaper for you to just buy a physical copy for console.
why do europoor always pretend their prices don't include taxes?
Crash bandicoot N sane trylogy and the Spyro trilogy were 39.99€ while in the US they were $39.99, there's no fricking excuse
>start throwing a tantrum if games are not cheaper than the US
I hope the next game is 200 euro and $50
I hope Vaush becomes your next president homosexual
>bamco never makes good games outside of soulshit and the occasional fightan game
You guys should have caught on by now.
Bamco really wants this franchise dead don't they?
> : )
Just about to buy it myself.
It's already a top seller.
Wait a second, is this why Steam broke for a bit there? Klonoa is actually selling???
Very much yes.
Selling like hotcakes.
KLONOACHADS WE WON
Is Klonoa going to sell a KLONILLION copies?
It's going to sell a couple thousands i guess. If they charged $30 instead it would do much better.
I fricking had to double take. I was expecting 40 AUD at absolute most lmfao
bro, honestly, australia seems like a horrible place to live
moronic politicians that can censor and control whatever the frick they want, hard to import shit, fricking hot, giant insects everywhere, chinks everywhere, a chunk of the population descends from literal convicts, probably some weird chink timezone, probably shit internet
>maybe physical will be cheaper
>$90 at both EB Games and JB Hifi
This fricked, normally JB is $10 cheaper
Yeah, I was planning on grabbing physical Switch as I like physical copies and just pirating it on PC but I'm not paying fricking $90 for Klonoa. It'd have to be a fricking god-tier remake to warrant that.
It's fricking $84.99 here in Nee Zealand, what the frick? It would literally be cheaper for me to get a VPN and buy the game while pretending to be in the country right next door.
I heard the Special Bundle soundtrack and art is in the form of some Unity app rather than in MP3 or PDF format, can anyone confirm?
That's correct.
IT'S AT #1 TOP SELLING RIGHT NOW
>The first top selling is a niche 400 bks portable console.
>The third is a literally who game
Do you guys really?
*most profiting
A single Steam Deck sale ranges from 400 to 650 bucks. A single game sale is 40 to 60 bucks usually.
Best seller doesn't track copies, it tracks most dollar sales.
So Klonoa is selling around 10 times as well as the steam deck.
Steam Deck's sales are also held back by the fact they don't make sales by demand but by shipment.
So, klonoa is selling more, than the dollar sales of Steam decks current shipments. Steam Deck doesn't sell until your reserve is up, and it's still just shipments for the first week or so of reservations.
this never means anything, it happens with every new game
Does this really mean a new Kuronoa?
I'm repeatedly dropping my pants around my ankles in joy. (It's how the true klonobros applaud)
>only 700 sales
It's so fricking over Klonoabros...
sonic origins was 2400 players at the peak
Crack when? I'm not paying this much for Klonoa.
just chip your ps1 bro
i know a shop that'll do it for 20 bux
if you're not intending to buy it, just emulate the originals dummy. They look better anyway.
2 looks like shit
You are playing the games with your pants around your ankles, right?
Why are his pants at his ankles?
Ambient occlusion shader isn't helping it, plus there's a literal floating piece of rock just north of the castle brick wall.
moar
How is it on PC?
man the map looks fricking weird
>P2 Sup. ON
Wut? Player 2 support or is it something else?
Player 2 support is allowing Popka/Huepow Jump
the whole game looks like shit especially klonoa 2. they ruined it.
Nice texturing guys. really working hard to earn that $70 by making everything worse than the PS2 version.
Pretty sure that's exactly the same as the PS2 version. Looks about the right resolution.
PS2 version didn't have black artifacts around it.
Did a kid redraw the textures with crayons or does MonkeyCraft literally employ monkeys?
tried some basic color adjustments
there's no saving that ugly cliffside voronoi texture though, both the contrast and level of detail makes it stick out like a sore thumb
Aren't remasters supposed to look BETTER than the originals, or is that asking too much these days?
>those stretched cliff textures
fricking hell
just bought it
Where were you homosexuals when Klonoa 2 was in Walmart demo stations?
I still have my PS2 copy! You guys fricking suck!
For your information I was only 1 year old when Klonoa 2 first released. I was probably shitting myself and being a general pain in the ass, as babies tend to be.
I bought a PS2 slim to play Klonoa 2 and Silent Hill 3
Get SRW OGs and Ace Combat 4,5,0
Game. Porn will come soon enough.
Sounds based
My first exposure to Klonoa was through a Toys R Us demo station and I was so short and the brightness so low I couldn't see fricking anything but it seemed cool
I still have mine too
NOT FOR LONG
ANOTHER CONSOLE REJECTED
I thought the remaster of 2 was gonna be a lot more slight but now that comparison footage exists, it looks like a complete asset overhaul?? Nothing bar the general level layout looks the same, I thought they just tweaked the lighting and uprezzed some elements
They would have had to, since the Wii remake was a vast visual step up over 2, and it'd have stood out like a sore thumb in this package for the sequel to look worse.
so they made it look like absolute shit from an art direction standpoint, and there's not even particle effects in La-Lakoosha, the moody lighting is gone, and it costs as much as an AAA game here, it's an absolute shit show.
m8 it isn't the wii demake.
Definitely changed a lot of stuff, can't say it looks any better
Haha the trees in the middle are halfway submerged.
>PS2 original - More texturing variety happening, but everything is so fricking dark
>New version - Better clarity, but texture repetition, no environment lighting at fricking all. Green water. The water flowing out is way too fricking visible from the opening unlike in the PS2
They both have problems, it's really a give-or-take situation.
>but everything is so fricking dark
thats a good thing
It's a bright and colorful atmosphere, it's a personal choice. If it's still that way in the Kingdom of Sorrow, I'l give it to you.
>It's a bright and colorful atmosphere
1 is. 2 is intentionally darker and moodier.
Right would be better and an objective upgrade if the water was clearer and more blue.
Quick and dirty edit, but here's the water blue.
Left it on the lighter side to match the rest of the artstyle.
Should I buy this game or commission more porn?
Are you the homosexual that makes Klonoa wear his ring as a wienerring?
I kinda slept on it, is Klonoa 1 that weird Wii version or was it remade from scratch again?
Retouched Wii version
I may hate this soulless ass remake but $40 for two semi-remakes of 2.5D platformers? That aint too bad in current year. Ofc should be like $30 but its not like its 50-60
20 dollars in my region but I wasted all my money
What the Frick
They didn't fix the shitty low voice audio quality or Klonoa having a blow-up doll mouth on this new model.
SAM.
WAHOO
Been out in japan for a few hours already. They aren't long games and they're selling.
Where's the torrent? No fricking way i'm paying this much for 2 psx games.
emulate them
why....just why... the lighting in 2 is fricking destroyed...
mods will fix it
Where do you live? Post your full address right now.
i hope mods will fix it, and also add 144hz support too
for comparison
What's with everything in Klonoa 2 being shrouded in shadows in most of the screenshots I've seen posted here the past month? Even Klonoa 1 had a lot of moments of being well lit in some of the maps.
it looked great on CRT
pcsx2 also gets a lot wrong for this game
Which was the game PCSX2 have bugged eyes because PS2 used an ancient pointer that's not present on PCs?
Jak and Daxter?
I believe they fixed that, recently.
Jak_and_daxter.exe
LMAO, did George Lucas "touch up" this game?
they turned the devine statue into a brown pile of shit.
it looks like that one pic of the witcher 2 special edition with the crumbled sculpture
Anyone capable of completely fixing the lighting is probably working at a game company way better than the shitcan studio who farted this cashgrab out
The new shill catchphrase
It really fricking is. Just like how people will see shitty game footage and talk about how it'll be fixed by release.
Nier Automata
Nier Automata came out in 2008
Are you being serious? Cause if not use Google to learn something.
No, but still
Unfortunately this looks too complicated for modders to fix.
Remake devs never understand lighting.
living in a basement does funny things to your perception
I HATE FOG IN MODERN GAMES
I HATE FOG IN MODERN GAMES
Sorry but,
>no physical, no buy
Aren't basically all consoles region free now? just import it or something if you care
It might be selling because all the big jp vtubers are streaming it
So it’s confirmed shit and not worth the money?
buy it if you like klonoa and want more klonoa, it's worth it if you haven't played the games yet.
it's absolutely not ok to experience the games for the first time like this. the cutscenes are broken and the set pieces are ruined.
>buy x if you want x to come back to life
When has this ever actually been successful in games industry besides maybe a one-off misadventure?
ace combat you moron, and thats a lot more relevant than your ex-naughty dog shovelware since it's bamco
>boring plane simulator
>good
>relevant
lol lmao even
>ace combat you moron, and thats a lot more relevant than your ex-naughty dog shovelware since it's bamco
The only reason Ace Combat is coming back is because Kono actually managed to pull off the impossible and make an above average game, which bamco wanted to axe every step of the way. With the way things have gone the past two years I don't even think we'll see another Ace Combat knowing how fricking stupid is.
AC8 is already confirmed, project aces got bigger because of 7's success and 7 only happened because whales gave infinity's israeli scam money
Correct
Shut the frick up shill
who were the geniuses at monkeycraft that didn't let us disable those button prompts? are they actual monkeys?
this game really looks like a source filmmaker guy making shitty YouTube video with badly ripped models and bad lighting.
>prease understandu anon kun, programming is hard for a humble mon "oo oo ah ah" "rhaaa rhaaa"
$53 of my hard earned Canadian dollars? I'm not a frickin' millionaire.
Just bought it and the DLC my friends.
good fricking goy
Theres DLC? WHY?
it's just cosmetic skins
Just the artbook/soundtrack/4-costumes as a bundle. Overpriced as shit.
Who's got Klonoa fever?
I'm a Klonoa fan and I'm not eating this shit
People are buying it anyway because Namco is literally holding Klonoa hostage saying "If this is successful we'll do more stuff with Klonoa, or else we won't"
>spend the last 12 years b***hing about getting a new Klonoa game
>Cry when it's 40 bucks
You literally couldn't afford $3.33 a year?
>a new Klonoa game
50€ for a half assed job is something I expect from my government, not a legitimate business.
these aren't new klonoa games moron.
they are far worse asset flip versions of classic titles. they should be paying us compensation for making these insulting piles of crap.
the least they could do is to include the fricking originals
>pay someone to come fix your roof
>he says he'll come tomorrow
>takes 7 months, only finally doing it because he needs the money
>does a shoddy job
>hey what the frick, why did you do a shit job?
>YoU ShOuLD Be ThAnKfuL YoUR RoOF iS FiNaLlY FiXed, BuSTER
Frick off.
I really like how awful this analogy is.
just like Brampfco
Would you rather a food analogy.
Imagine looking at a Nintendo and seeing food!
>a new Klonoa game
Oh? They released more than a rushed, outsourced set of remakes?
Why is all the voice acting pull-string quality in Klonoa 1?
>Klonoa 2
>Wii version
the only wii game was klonoa 1 and that didn't have cancerous pop up tutorials and button prompts. it had 1 or 2 optional signs on the side path you could read.
idgi, are you guys saying they didnt include the jibberish language?
NTA
They did, but only the original playstation version. Not a big deal to me, I like it, but some people prefer the higher quality wii version of the jibberish language (phantomilian language)
klonoa 2 is the only one that has it, klonoa 1 has the psx quality phantomilian language
also joilant water slider
>doomers are already in shitting up the thread
game has a few weird parts but holy shit you're the most insufferable homosexuals i have ever seen
nah m8 I bought but this deserves at least a little doomposting.
shill
I'm just happy to anything Klonoa related in an official capacity. Hiccups are to be expected or at least I'm fine with them at the moment considering how long the franchise has been dormant. The only way I will stop supporting Klonoa is if they don't learn from their mistakes.
Imagine defending this half-assed pile of shit port
Don't complain then when Klonoa becomes dead again. I at least want to see more attempts with the franchise and will support it until their stupidity and stubbornness has gone on for too long. They're obviously not going to spend a lot of time and effort on something if it doesn't sell and will never be good enough for autistic perfectionists/purists.
what an amazing looking game. this game never needed to be remade in 3d. frick israelites
At least the PS1 version is easy to emulate so thankfully there's that. I wish devs more often would include an emulation of the original game when trying to sell a remaster. That way, even if people are unhappy with the remastered graphics or 3D, they can always have the original game again.
Sonic is at least a popular character, there will never stop being Sonic games made. People complained about Travis Strikes Again, I enjoyed that game and still got No More Heroes 3, so I don't feel guilty at all in the slightest supporting Klonoa until he can get back on his feet.
at least klonoa got a small handful of games that are consistently good whereas sega and sonic team have been busy raping the sonic ip's rotting husk for the last decade or more. be grateful you're not a sonicgay
>he doesn't use ublock origin
Glad to know you're easily pleased with mediocrity.
When nothing but second best will do.
>like how Sonic devs ignore fans
is that why sonic games are unplayable trash? maybe they should listen then.
you blame sonic fans for the state of sonic???? not the devs that haven't released a single functional game in the last two decades?
are any windows 7 gays on standby to test if this works or am i going to have to wait for a repack?
i've seen this "CONSOOM PRODUCT OR [insert beloved mascot character here] GETS A BULLET PLANTED IN THEIR SKULL" marketing ploy multiple times with shitty remakes/remasters in the last couple of years (sonic origins just came out two weeks ago) and i'm fricking sick of it. i shouldn't have to defend corporate incompetency and corruption just to see media i like get treated well but this problem extends far, far beyond bamco and sega
more likely you might have to wait for a repak everyone pretty much dropped win7
SOVL
Are you sure about that?
it wasn't marketed in the west at all
Hiring hoe-girlve vtubers to play it qualifies as global advertising even if only the japanese ones play it.
Of course, that's all they did.
Mascot characters will always have better marketing in non-US countries. Toyota Gazoo Racing's mascots are well known in JP and EU, but are absent in the US because mascots are not popular in the US. When I asked about why that is:
>mascot characters are seen as childish and would not appeal to adults.
I'm talking about the West.
WOOOOOWWWW one small board inbetween buildings so it can't even be seen by oncoming traffic. Anyways nips don't buy games anymore unless it's nintentrash or MH, and especially don't buy platformers, so this is worthless. They needed to market in the west where people actually like platformers.
Refer to
what the frick is this and where do i buy it
The Gazoo Racing storefronts, or on Yahoo Japan Auction/Shopping, Mercari, or Rakuma.
>that doesn't sell games there
Yes it does. And you're also ignoring the digital space for advertising. There's plenty of it.
>Yes it does.
Okay well it doesn't sell any games there that aren't made by nintendo.
Not my problem.
nips may like mascots more but that doesn't sell games there. nips never buy platformers anymore unless it's shitendo.
I literally saw a bunch of Klonoa youtube ads yesterday
>buy this shitty half-assed port that wasn't even made by Namco and was handed off to some shitty studio to make
They didn't put any effort into this shit whatsoever and the DLC is a fricking rip off.
>They're obviously not going to spend a lot of time and effort on something if it doesn't sell
>BUY KATAMARI REROLL OR WE'LL NEVER GET NEW KATAMARI GAMES
>4 years later they couldn't even give this the same treatment
Frick you, I'm not falling for it again.
It's the Spyro threads all over again. Everything used to be comfy man, now everyone's hyper autistic as shit to the point that they keep saying the same shit over and over and over again, and others have to join in either to shit post or become a part of the hivemind. It's like a weird form of mass contrarianism, as oxy-moronic as it sounds.
People don't know how to have fun anymore.
>It's the Spyro threads all over again
I say it anytime I have a chance. those fricking morons b***hing about the graphics, and bara dragons are the reason spyro 3 is still unpatched and broken. my save file is still borked cause a gem never spawned in cloud spires/and extra spawned in villa. frick those clowns.
enjoy your game klonoa-chads
>those fricking morons b***hing about the graphics, and bara dragons are the reason spyro 3 is still unpatched and broken.
What is even the relation there
rather than b***hing about actual problems and demanding activation fix it, they b***hed about irrelevant, unfix-able problems like art direction. if the games community wasn't filled with morons like this we would have better games
>rather than b***hing about actual problems and demanding activation fix it, they b***hed about irrelevant, unfix-able problems like art direction
Wouldn't this be on Toys for Bob for running out of time and not bothering to go back?
or are they a team you can't bring yourself to criticize?
>Wouldn't this be on Toys for Bob for running out of time and not bothering to go back?
toys for boy was given so little time that spyro 3 had to be handed to a support dev
moron
>just don't do anything
moron
>toys for boy was given so little time that spyro 3 had to be handed to a support dev
So clearly we have to blame the forums!
moron
Yes I'm sure complaining about those problems would actually get them fixed instead of ignored. How stupid are you?
>he thinks TFB would actually fix anything
kek, Black person they added fog to the stages when Insomniac built a whole system around not needing it. If they could fix any gameplay related issues they still wouldn't because they're lazy gays known for working on Skylanders and treated with the appropriate amount of contempt.
Frick off you dumb homosexual.
They were never going to fix anything.
>expecting Activision to actually pay TFB to go back and fix niggling things in a nostalgia cash grab hit and run project
LMAO
NO SEE IF THE COMMUNITY HAD MADE MORE THREADS AND TWEETS ABOUT THE ISSUES
how exactly should they have b***hed about the games being buggy before release, when the majority of people talking about the hideous graphics was? And also, you're a fricking subhuman inbred worm for ever saying that artstyle is irrelevant or unfixable in spyro of all fricking games, have a nice day
>It's the fans' fault the devs didn't fix serious issues
That's stupid, dude.
>Toys for Bob
3 was done by Sanzaru Games.
Why do they do it though?
>they botched the dlc
Holy shit lul, that fricking blows. Digital deluxe editions are a cancer
Jesus fricking what the hell
I member I bought a couple OSTs off Steam and it was just a simple mp3 download that I could throw in whatever I want
I never buy DLC anyways (and frick anyone who does), but holy kek
Persona 5 Scramble for PC has a wrapper for the soundtrack.
How modable are unity engine games again?
I can't rip the source code and fix it can I?
modding assets shouldn't be too hard (i think people use asset studio nowadays)
code is a lot harder to deal with since you need to work with decompiled .net
i'd be open to helping out with reworking textures i guess
we need to remove the unity toony colors pro shaders they got from the assets store and replace them with real shaders. there's so much work to do to unfrick it.
All I want is the original Klonoa 2 with no LOD scaling.
I wont stop until I get it.
I have a Deck and a Switch. I have no idea which I should get this on. The Switch is much more comfortable to hold but it's going to look so much better on the Deck.
bunne bunne i love you bunne
Flip a coin.
Klonoa sex
I want to put my face in his armpits.
im happy to see more people drawing him lately
Sex with big-dicked kemoshotas!
Why do people keep saying Crash 4 is a bad game? Sure, the levels are a bit long and NuTawna is a big hamfisted, but other than that it's a pretty decent game. If anything, all this is teaching me is that it's all the same damn people complaining about every SINGLE recent platformer.
Meant for
At this point I'm just gonna wait for some mod to fix this thing, the remake of pac-man world looks miles better than this one.
PacMan World 1 was pretty ugly ngl
The remake or the original?
the original
Yeah I agree, and I've seen the gameplay of the remake and looks a lot better, sadly they didn't put that effort on klonoa.
So hows Klonoa 2's remake? I never expected the first game's remake to surpass the PSX version because that game is a visual masterpiece but Klonoa 2 was pretty ugly even back in the day so I'm less opposed to a remaster/make. It better then the original PS2 version?
Frick you. Klonoa 2 looked better than Klonoa 1.
>PS2 Klonoa
>ugly
Handheld remakes when
There's nothing to salvage from those releases.
furry on the quarry?
Klonoa on the Krakatoa
What a glorious day.
surprised they actually keep this line intact
Namco's western branch doesn't seem to be as pozz'd as SE and the like.
femnazis are no match for the clueless pajeet
Mpregging Klonoa.
>Klonoa released today
>He didn't post a new art piece
🙁
Why can’t I find it on the eShop?
Comes out tomorrow for Nintendo, it released early on Steam.
That’s weird. Why not? I sometimes browse the coming soon section on the Switch. Doesn’t seem beneficial to not have it up for pre order.
>Why not?
Who the frick knows? There are games up without release dates but you can at least wishlist them.
One more day for Switch. They never even bothered to put up a pre-order listing.
The frick? Don't post vtubers on Ganker. It's not a video game
your mom is not a videogame
It's just a reaction image.
So I bought the base game. I wanted the clothing swap clothes that were supposed to be with preorders, which you couldn't do with this version.
Do I have to get the Deluxe version to get my costume?
why don't modern engines let people simply turn off bloom anymore?
Uh... you can turn off the bloom... Go to display settings.
Holy fricking shit, really? I was just crying preemptively while the game downloads.
No, I really enjoyed how elaborate and different it was.
moron
>Unity game: Low/Medium/High/Beautiful
I want to hug Klonoa and have him fall asleep on top of me
>50 euros for butchered downgrades
yeah, you can frick off bamco
>get it on JP eShop
>it really is that bright
I figured it was OLED footage or something. You know, where they have that one brightness setting thing on by default.
wow joilant looks like trash, i could actually stomach the other zones but this one looks ugly as sin
No offense, but I fail to see the problem here.
>the one level that arguably looks better
you know what anon... just jump off a fricking bridge, preferably the one Tat blows up
This looks like a normal ass uprezzed PS2 game. I've never played Klonoa but what the frick could your problem be?
the original game had complex lighting. this is just a lazy asset-upscaling cashgrab
does the game have denuvo
Yes
its already out on those 'sites'
i dont have the original ps2 photo but the colors were a lot better and you could actually see less of that island over there. at least pic related looks good minus the excessive saturation
Send the link to "those" sites anon
i saw it on skidrow torrents, not sure if the site is legit.
Reminder that all you are doing by buying this is demonstrating to Namco that you are willing to eat the lowest quality shit imaginable. That's the only lesson they will take away from this selling well.
Just chill man
>buy game
>play less than 2 hours
>leave negative review
>get a refund
This if bamco aren't going to even give klonoa to a real inhouse studio then frick them. there is no hope.
>Reminder that all you are doing by buying this is demonstrating to Namco that you are willing to eat the lowest quality shit imaginable. That's the only lesson they will take away from this selling well.
Wahoo
I don't get it
>he doesn't know
I'm feeling a massive amount of deja-vu, these threads are starting to sound like the Spyro ones from a few years ago.
So it's gonna end the same way with the series in a limbo due to not selling enough numbers to appease the publisher? Pretty fitting.
Knowing Ganker they probably are. I avoid this board like the fricking plague unless there's a game I like, people are just too fricking pessimistic now. In the case of Klonoa, I had saw it was going to be released on Steam in an hour and decided to wait here until it did.
More comfy.
I literally do not give a single frick about spyro.
SEGA isn't the one doing the remaster
the games are fine, they play well, i don't know if it's just me but when you move in klonoa 2 and shoot a weind bullet sometimes you have to be just inches away from an enemy to pick it up, i don't remember needing to be so close to some enemies while you're moving. might be just me misremebering
haha, it looks like sewer water in new version
>they did nothing but slapped HD textures on the original models
They did worse than nothing
both are ugly and cluttered, at least the HD version has better texturing on the webs and trees and grass
Not true at all. Klonoa 2 looks great.
it's a shit screenshot, you don't see the proper difference with here with the particles and lighting
I'll do you one better, I've actually played the game. moron
I mean half assed still means that the glass is half full, right?
just Ganker being Ganker, as usual
>but they don't look downright horrible?
Call me a nostalgiagay all you want. I think Reverie 1 and Wii Klonoa are hideous. That aside, the games are fine aside from some minor audio shit.
I think the games look fine on their own, just shit compared to the originals.
Let's say hypothetically, the remakes do well enough to actually warrant a sequel... we do we take the series from here? What do you want out of a new sequel?
>we do we take the series from here?
They'll make the GBA games with recycled Reverie assets.
Don't forget the Wonderswan game.
Just fricking hand it to Masahiro Sakurai, at least he has some experience with dream shit.
The main reason to play these games is the art and atmosphere, and these new ports are artistically massacred. Just play the originals.
TORRENT WHERE
They seriously couldn't rig his ears correctly? They're clipping through the back of his head.
If they made a remake of Klonoa Heroes, how should they do it? Top-down view or third-person like most modern ARPGs?
dating sim
Anything as long your party members actually stay out while you're controlling someone. But using wind bullets sound hideous looking from back of Klonoa so maybe top down.
is it not coming out physically in na?
No.
Maybe Limited Cancer will release one.
I'd rather import a European copy than give those fricks any money to stain my copy with their logo.
you can import it, asian copies have english language iirc
Does that include the JP release, or is Asia the SEA version?
Yes, if you aren't sure check a game's eshop page and check for this kanji
英語
That means it contains English language as an option.
this would actually look really nice with proper lighting, is it really that hard to make it not look like shit in unity?
>it rooku betta than wii version!!
and piss is better than shit. who cares?
Is there any replayability in these games? From what I’ve seen, they look like they’re each around 5 hours long, and that’s it. No incentive to replay them whatsoever. No wonder this series never took off.
I played Klonoa 2 three times when I got it, I rarely replay games.
Klonoa 1 & 2 are also short as frick, so replaying them isn't exactly a large time commitment.
So? Most short games aren't worth replaying anyway.
Is it "out" yet?
>klonobros
Game works well on deck so far. Smoother experience than the Switch demo I tried
Klonoa? Bros?
More like "klonobros" am I rite?
>Klonoa autist shits up Pac-Man threads for months
>Pac-Man gets more care and effort put into his remake
Pac-Man had a remake? Only thing I recall was that one arcade collection of recent.
Pac-Man World remake
Something to look forward to at the least while I work my way through Klonoa here.
>looking up Klonoa r34
thank god this wasnt volkan inferno, i was actually hoping that screenshot was from the original volk city level.
why the frick does pac man and klonoa shitposting exist again?
>why the frick does pac man and klonoa shitposting exist again?
Because some NEET homosexual had nothing better to do
I fricking hate Americans, I hate Trump, I hate Biden, I hope all you Black folk burn inside the Supreme Court!
WHAT THE FRICK SCAMCO, 50€ FOR THIS HALF ASSED JOB?
THIS IS THE FRICKING LAST STRAW, I'M PUTTING ON A DRESS AND LIVING AS A WOMAN FROM THIS MOMENT ON!
How is the remaster?
more like a reeee disaster
it looks worse like nearly every other modern remake.
Either they give it to a mobile game-tier studio and/or the devs just dont understand the first thing about lighting or stylization
Lighting differences definitely feel like a downgrade but I still am buying this just because I want to see this series continue
First game was carried hard by its aesthetic
Who the frick faps while holding a Vita? Gimme the source, I want to know the reason and it ain't even for coom reasons.
>for comparison Mega Man 11 was just on sale for $10
And that's nearly four years old already, and launched at the same price.
MM11 is 30 for a completely new game
>Shadows are set to MEDIUM by default, definitely recommend setting those to ULTRA HIGH because it matters, a lot.
Been playing the game as default but will try this next time I boot it up, if it matters that much.
Does the pixel filter improve it at all? Used it for a few levels since I kinda liked how it looked but it made some gems hard to see so I turned it off to help with 100%.
>Does the pixel filter improve it at all?
No it looks like shit.
Please understandu, MonkeyCraft only have code monkey, monkey not do blender, only craft in minecraft.
This is annoying because the monkeys made The Prince more expressive in REROLL
>$40 for each game
I mean to me that's actually kind of worth it. The DLC is over priced but I still think its a fairly okay price.
I thought it was $40 for both.
It is, he paraphrased it
No no, I live in NZ. The game is $85 here. Its pretty high but when I thought about it, it's about $40 per game and I'd pay that. For context, a console game is about $110 here so it's actually cheap for me
Is pic related any good? Looks like it got a full translation recently
>vaguely aware of the meme that Klonoa has a lot of porn
>decide to look it up
>it's Klonoa the character, not the series
>its mostly gay furry shit
What the frick? I just assumed most people were cooming to Leorina or something
he cute
They should have disabled loading screen tips on PC. Load screens are under a second.
Something, something, Switch's fault
I remember my cousin having this game as a kid but I never played it myself. What's it like?
It gives people inflation fetish.
How's the PC port?
Is new content for DtP or it also has something in LV?
Klonoa is so wild and silly!
THE NUMBER IS GOING UP BROS
KLONOA IS SAVED KEEP BUYING BROS
seriously fricking have a nice day, you piece of shit shill
>he doesn't understand irony
Man they really fricked up the expressions in the important scenes. Could not get over him looking stoned out of his mind and smiling every time he talked, compared to how it was on PS1.
DUDE
GRANDPA
They fricked up expressions in klonoa 2 cutscenes the worst. klonoa doesn't have a dynamic mouth during gameplay now either.
it looked like absolute dogshit on Wii too
Nope character are visibly sad in the wii version.
it's only the shitty remaster that fricked it up so bad.
Is that the actual shading in the Wii version, or some emulator mod?
it's the actual shading. the wii version had a lot of great specular lighting and normal mapping.
Why do publishers insist on hiring pajeet studios? Fricking hell.
At least Ubisoft realized on time the PoP:SoT remake was going to be a disaster so they moved development back in house. With Bamco had done the same here.
he looks mildly disappointed
I'll take his Wii model over the remade one.
wish granted
thanks for reminding me homie, just bought it, and played the first 2 visions of Door to Phantomile
its a bit janky visually and i SWEAR the controls arent 100% like the original, but so far, its alright, im just a bit disappointed because, the Original game was quite a looker in the PS1, and this one feels on the level of A Hat in Time, which doesnt look terrible, but its just an indie game
that being said, i think the artstyle is captured well compared to the original, the intro movie isnt as horrible as the youtube video led me to believe, i think this might be an OK way to experience the original game
oh also, the frickers used the original PS1 audio for the cutscenes, everyone sounds like they are underwater, i mean its cool they didnt rape my baby with a dub like the wii game but frick me, this is lazy
btw there is a pixel filter so if you want to make the game look like shit for some reason that is available to you
>if you want to make the game look like shit
Don't need a filter for that.
then you turn it off and it still looks like shit.
why does that filter exist? i don't get it
bro, it's like a 1996 gif animation!
You should:
Import the remake on your platform of choice
Pirate the PS1 and PS2 games
Play them on PS1 and PS2.
Maybe check out the remake in a few years. Show your support now, but play the better versions.
is it true that the switch version has frame drops? that's a joke, right?
It's not. It has slight stutter on PS4 also.
Good thing i got the PS5 version and Xbox too, then. Pity international shipping means it will not get here until next week.
I don't know about consoles, but PC is smooth as hell with no stutters.
I turned off bloom as well.
>mfw consolebabs can't turn off bloom
GOD DAMMIT
>Game does not have ingame counter
>You must get as many gems as you can with 2x's
>If you miss them, you have to go back
Suffering. I could be done with the game now but I NEED 100% COMPLETION
welcome to hell, you though these games were easy? also this is volkan inferno. frick me
Original had no counter either. Was either reload your save to start the start with a fresh 00, or just keep it in mind. The 2x sections are the worst though.
It does have a counter for how many you have, it's always 150 per level so that's enough.
The counter rotates, (playing PC, Klonoa 1) and there isn't a counter on how many collected per level. It just rotates around at 100, subtracts the 100 when reached (extra life) then continues counting.
I mean, I wouldn't be upset, but I spent almost all my lives executing only 1 jump just to get all the gems, only to find out that I didn't collect enough gems with the 2x.
So now I have to repeat the level, being careful with the 2x AND do that jump again.
suffering.
Do you not have a counter on your hub?
there's 150 per level. you can get more than 150 by skilful use of the 2x fairy.
The counter continues between levels since its for building lives from.
yeah you have to simply subtract the number you have at the start.
Klonoa 2 is better because it restarts you dreamstone count each level. I don't know why they didn't do that for 1.
Now that the game is out. Are these among the best remakes ever made?
No, but it's certainly one of the more competent half-assed remakes.
what's the worst remake?
that is not Silent Hill HD collection
GTA Trilogy
boy am I glad that I have those on my Steam account
these have to be the winners
>never played the original or the remake
>still feel bad
how do you frick up this badly?
I want to nominate Splinter Cell HD Trilogy for PS3 with how frequently it crashes, which can corrupt your save data in the process.
it's one of the worst remasters ever made. right up there with GTA.
the visual glitches and bad art direction literally kill the games ability to set a mood or communicate the story to the player.
the characters expressions and animations being horribly broken is the final nail in the coffin.
Can you get this shit at all on the steam version?
There was no preorder on PC. However, there is a 20 dollar DLC which unlocks costumes.
I'm not buying it until it drops in price, I'll buy the game but not the costumes.
the frick is a DLG?
also there was no pre-order on PC, the bastards
>No Steam Points Shop items for Klonoa.
>No animated Klonoa wallpapers or avatars or stickers
>Klonoa 2 background
>characters are completely obscured by the profile information
https://www.steamcardexchange.net/index.php?backgroundviewer-54769
i hate when developers do this shit, cant you put a little bit of thought into this shit? some of us like playing Barbie with our profiles
soo... are the checkpoints called Klocks or Klonocks?
I'm 35 but I hate these types of platformers. I was going to get this but I just don't have it in me. Exploration platformers are far better than linear run-left-and-right-and-collect-coins platformers. Crash Bandicoot always sucked.
>I hate these types of platformers. I was going to get this
>remake calls the life system coins "extra Klonoas"
So did the original?
>each coin adds another Klonoa to your harem
I'm a little sad this remake is the only way for modern audiences to play Klonoa. Wish that Klonoa 1, the original ps1 version with 2d sprites, was actually offered as a port on modern systems. And I wish Klonoa 2 was available on any system outside of the ps2.
Decided not to buy after seeing the Switch version runs like shit. They fricked it.
>he fell for the shitch meme
>runs 40fps on Switch
>it's also not playing nice with Proton on Steam Deck as of current
Guess that still leaves the Vita as best way to play Klonoa 1 portably.
>>it's also not playing nice with Proton on Steam Deck as of current
Works on my machine. B)
Have you tried the experimental branch of proton or a later version?
Both experimental and the default one it suggested. Going to try an older version or two later, since I wasn't expecting a Unity-engine game of all things to give Proton trouble.
>>runs 40fps on Switch
False. It never drops below 50fps
cope
Nothing to cope about. You on the other hand are clearly seething about your lies being called out
Oh I guess that's fine then! How about you shut the frick up? It also drops frames on the PS4. The devs can't optimise for shit. Just another shitty remaster they couldn't be bothered to put effort into.
Everything on switch runs like shit. NES games run like shit.
Is she?
she's much cuter in the real klonoa 2.
I'd kill for a translated port of Klonoa Heroes.
it recently got a translation hack
Well yes but I'd like an official translation.
Why?
>Get a completely unpozzed translation
>uhhh id like a pozzing please 🙂
>poz
Not a schizo. So I wouldn't understand.
>poz
meds
its true that only pedos and furries enjoy this game?
yes, both those qualities are mandatory to enjoy klonoa
moar
If Klonoa where to get a new game, what would you like it to be?
A platformer and not more spinoff shit praised just because it's obscure and never made it overseas
Immersive open world with npcs that you can have real interactions with, kind of like a mix between Animal Crossing and BotW.
Klonoa Beach Vollyball TWOOOOO
But seriously? A proper Klonoa 3
Kemoshota peepee!
Mines still coming in the mail.
Wow, found the gem and made the jump first try.
would it be that difficult or “bad” to just resale the original roms?
I know I can just emulate it but why the frick do these remasters never just also give you the original game?
is it that fricking hard or would everyone be able to tell the new shit they did is inferior?
Reminder that if you aren't just emulating the original versions of these games, you are a subhuman shit-eater.
Damn, I can't play my physical discs on real hardware either?
I already did, sorry bud
I am.
I don't know what this shit meme about it being hard to emulate is. it runs perfectly on the latest pcsx2.
and looks 100x better than the shitty ports.
My copy isn't coming for a while. Does our king look alright in the remake?
Pac-Man's gonna have some real competition next month...
Oh shut up.
what do you have against pac-frens, dude?
I have nothing, I'm just hoping Pac-Man returns to his former glory. I hated the Ghostly Adventures shit and I hated the soulless 80's rehash shit even more.
Championship Edition DX was good, you pleb.
It was about as linear and scripted as Sonic Forces.
you are missing the point of the comparison and incapable of thinking in terms beyond "good" and "bad"
weird graphics or not, what about the gameplay?
is this good to get for someone who never played it before?
i swear Klonoa 1 feels slightly janky, but its a fine way to experience the game
What do you feel it's janky? Maybe the ring hitbox changed because the difference of height between Wii and Reverie? I'm clueless since I didn't play this version yet
The only thing that I noticed about the ring is it seems just SLIGHTLY shorter range than the original. I could be wrong, but the gameplay is a-okay.
I did have one collision glitch where I broke a crate with a jump on the side, but that I think I can look over.
the ring hit detection is different for sure, also i swear to god theres almost no delay in the transition between jumping and flapping your ears to float, so damn near every jump i made was a floating jump at first before i got used to it
i also saw one enemy glitch out a little, those spinning spheres in the jungle level, instead of doing their usual patrol they were spinning in place
you get used to it, its not a deal breaker by any means, but i do feel a hint of jankyness
let me put it this way, in terms of remakes there are degrees of jank, theres:
>the game literally doesnt fricking work - GTA Trilogy levels of jank
and theres:
>only a complete autist would notice the difference - Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy levels of jank
Klonoa belongs to the latter camp
>Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy
I dunno, the pill hitbox was pretty bad
whatever, autists, i finished crash 1 and didnt notice anything game breaking
>first ps1 game known for it's very stiff and unforgiving controls
>N.Sane version makes it even worse somehow
It is objectively worse. How blissfully ignorant are you.
>How blissfully ignorant are you.
very blissful, homie, see thats my point, the level of jank in klonoa and crash wont be an issue in a casual playthrough
the game might have jank, but i didnt notice, thats the point
>very blissful, homie
Nice standards you got there. Thanks for letting Activision/Bamco get consistently get away with it every 5-10 years everytime they bait low standard nostalgiahomosexuals like you.
yeah ok, autist
HE'S SMILING OVER GRANDPA AS HE DIES
I can't believe the levels of cope I'm seeing over this
im talking about gameplay, moron, the graphics are another matter entirely and absolutely disappointing
The pill hitbox and fricking with the jump distances utterly raped the crash remake
N. Sane Trilogy had more issues than just the debate over visual stuff. Same goes for Nitro Fueled. Reverie is more like Superstar Saga DX.
i didnt say those games dont have jank, but someone who isnt an autist about it isnt going to notice
you can play the game casually and not find any issues, same applies to Klonoa, I NOTICED because i vividly remember playing the game, but someone not as invested wont find an issue
is klonoa a boy or a girl
Boy.
is this game fun if im not a furry
yes
Since the Pac-man world remake was announced I want to ask. Which are better games Klonoa 1 and 2, or the Pac-man World trilogy?
Both franchises are fun in their own different ways. It's not a perfect 1-1 anology, but think of Pac-Man and Klonoa as Bamco's Mario and Kirby.
Well, Pac-Man World 3 shat the bed pretty hard, so I have to hand it to Klonoa as a whole.
World 3 was still better than this shit.
Well, just be glad that THAT era of Pac-Man is dead. Which is funny, that era only lasted 3 games.
>World 1 is just okay
>World 2 is great
>World 3 is shit
Klonoa.
i dont care about pacman world at all. its kinda cringe ngl
Is anti-aliasing broken?
Nah, but if you feel like it is you can force your graphics card to override the settings.
Forcing it isn't working, at least on an AMD card. Anyone on Nvidia having any luck?
Considering how bad the aliasing looks on
and
it seems broken to me.
I can't be the only person bothered by this.
>KLONOA
What?
Klonoa content is contained to /osg/
I just found out that the YuGiOh creator has been found dead, well that's a way to make my day even shittier than the salty EU pricetag.
>it's another low effort unity nostalgia cash grab episode
>expecting quality content from bamco
Never going to happen.
What about Dark Souls/Elden Ring?
overrated buggy crap
not really sure where the franchise would go from here
metroidvania? 3d collectathon? mobile gacha? something something n f t?
3D Collectathon or more 2.5d platforming that's about it
Klonoa is perfectly suited for a Kirby and the Forgotten Land kind of 3D platformer. Keep it to more linear, small hubs with tigh level design
> 3.5D Platformer
Schizo theory time. Some Namco executives wanted to get back into the platform genre so they decided to bring back klonoa. Some time later a higher up with a huge hard on for the Pac man world games noticed this and said they should remake the world games instead. He convinced everyone to make both games and they 'll make more with the one that gets more sales. Then he use his influence to give world a bigger budget and more advertising.
What are the odds some eceleb reviews this game and suddenly Klonoa actually gets mainstream love outside of being remembered as "that one 2.5D ps1 platformer"
Is this a good or bad thing

I've seen MattMcMuscles and a few others shill it already. It's fitting because people like him have such shit taste that of course he would go to bat for a low effort remake that was whipped up in four months just to get some clout.
I think you're a big fat gay.
How can he get clout when no one gives a shit about Klonoa?
>How can he get clout when no one gives a shit about Klonoa?
That's literally what being a gaming youtuber eceleb is all about, dummy
>HeY GuIsE, check out this ObScUrE HiDdEn GeM!
>omg thank you eceleb man! your taste is impeccable can I suck your dick???
So how long until the modding scene picks up? I'd love to see some custom costumes
I wouldn't be able to play the game without feeling funny
Funny huh? Not wild and silly?
KEMOSHOTA BULGE EROTIC UUUUOOOOOHHHHHHH ToT
You can avoid that feeling normally?
bros.. I'm.. not a pervert
