Bliz poured tons of money to maintain a scene, but it didn't last long and it was on pure artificial life support for ages. Korea started to migrate back to SC:BW starting in 2013, and brought back competitions in 2015.
Yes and then it was made clear blizz was intent on selling the game in 3 stages which meant that WoL was terran favored, HotS was zerg favored and LotV everyone finally got all the tools needed for a fair and non-frustrating game.

They still did some professional play in 2010-2012, with 2012 being the last year for hybrid play. I think I saw some exhibition SC:BW play in 2012 and it was this massive huge audience and I was really impressed people cared about it that late. But as I said, it was 2013 that the pros came back to SC:BW and started streaming it on afreeca.
People never stopped caring about BW
The competitive scene just got hit by the match fixing scandal and Blizzard trying to kill it at the same time. I think the rise of streaming around that time showed pros they could stay with BW and still make money, hence why they came back

Conversely, if 4 scourge connect to those dropships before they unload SK is in a massive advantage. Those dropships needed to do damage and they did. Dropships are thus a gamble and hoping SK would skimp on the scourge and defesnes.

SK should have been hitting Rush harder with the mutas and to deny the 2nd gas as well. Take down the depos, take down turrets, scv's, 2nd gas. In that order.

The first game victory hinged entirely on his dropships not dying to scourge and the second relied on SK not going for a fast pool. There's no such thing as a risk free victory, Rush is just making better gambles.

Mini really is a toss-up, like he can win against anyone but he can also lose against anyone. It'll be entertaining.
It was a large four player map, there's a chance that zerg will scout last and/or will get discouraged by the long rush distance to even bother.
If he has a series to prepare for Mini becomes a little more reliable. Either he looks pretty comfortable cruises through or he suffers his way to a 4-3.

-turns out car dealer was a scammer impersonating streamers to buy expensive foreign cars (BMW/porsche/ect) and leasing them, ponzi scheme in a way
-leasing becomes unsustainable, scammer sells off the cars overseas
-scammer demanded payback for the payment for the cars
-what streamers thought was just 1 car was in fact tens of cars
-scammer goes to jail and cannot pay money back (probably on some overseas bank account)
-the responsibility of payment goes to document signers (forged or not)
-streamers cannot do anything further under korean law, must pay back money
-soulkey in huge debt numbering $300-400k+ (guesstimate from zeus)

Turrets only costs 75 minerals and is sure is hell better than 1.5 marines. It's absolutely meta against mutas since zergs become muta micro gods and can just obliterate groups of marines.
Yes turrets are pretty shit but they're cheap and there's only so many units you can pump out from your production. You build them because you have no other option at that point in the game.

11 mutas can oneshot a marine, but not a turret. And the bouncing means that a few weaken other marines as well (and often kill others because of stim). Turrets have 7 range while marines have 4+1. Turrets deal as much damage as 1.5 marine, which is also their cost. Turrets deal as much damage, have more health, have more range, and can be repaired. Turrets can pick away at mutas as they are scouting for a weak spot, and they can force the zerg to shoot the turret instead of the SCVs.

because you want to click a single muta with your marine ball so all damage is focussed on a single muta. 11 mutas with 20 HP still deal full damage. 2 mutas will full health are useless. So you want to surge forward so all your marines can all attack 1 muta.

I remember a PvP match a few ASLs ago when one P didn't build cannons or robo, a single DT walked in from the front, hit a single zealot once and the guy instantly gg quit.
Thats how it works. Robo is the safest and most stable. It gets you reavers to harass and kill gatewway units with, and you can easily get detection against capemen. The question is how much you skimp on gateways and gateway units before you get reaver. 4 gateways or DTs are basically counterbuilds that gambles on the other toss skimping too much on units and tech.
DTs kill gatewaymen and anyone skimping on observers.
4gateways kill anyone trying to cut too many corners to get to reaver.
So you have 70% reaverman, 20% gatewayman and 10% capeman. With the 30% trying to keep the 70% from being dishonest

Meta doesn't evolve just rotates. Last I watched BW TvZ was T Vultures mining the entire map while hoping they starve the Zerg for long enough for a BioTank push to end it, which would work nicely against this Mutaling meta since without Zerglings mutas just can't engage a bio army.
There was an explosion of meta creativity back in Jaedong's prime, but I'm not aware of new tactics being introduced for quite awhile now.

those early 2000s matches were peak insanity. The grudge matches between Jaedong and Flash, the explosion of talent and skill. Pretty much every ASL player now would wipe the floor with the top players in, say, 2002. It's crazy how far this game has come.
Well there is only so much you can think of on an effectively abandoned RTS with 3 races and less than 20 units per race, many of them effectively useless. Like no meta ever will make scouts or wraiths or devourers good. Not to say a very skewed balance towards quantity which also make the big end game units useless.
I kind of prefer it to AoE where you have 50 civs with minute but somehow extremely relevant differences between them and in some cases so optimized a small % change in a value just makes you jump 15 slots up or down the winrate lists.

thats only a few units. And wraiths do find some use. The biggest limit is that not every unit is effective in every match. But even then variety is pretty decent. Ive played plenty of RTS that is just

yes. They were popular in PvZ in like 2005-2007 to counter ultras/big armies late game for maelstrom. They're also used to counter mutas in the midgame sometime since maelstrom has a massive range
