I'm genuinely falling in love with this game, i got filtered on my first playthrough but it finally clicked with me. The story is great, the setting is amazing, the characters are all great, playing as the canon exile makes it significantly better as well. Planescape failed to compel me at all with the narrative, but this game 100% has.
Which one has the comfier day time places and less dark metal corridor shit à la Doom or Quake, 1 or 2? And which one feels more like the prequels?
KOTOR 2 is darker but probably better than 1 in every way, Kreia, Anton are the best companions by a mile. Though KOTOR probably had the better villain initially with Malak, he doesn't show up iirc until the later half. KOTOR was mostly a slog i think for half of the game before being saved by a fantastic climax. Whereas this has two shitty levels right at the start, but with mods those can be skipped

Beat 1, then play 2. I had Revan join the dark side at the end of KOTOR and it greatly enhances KOTOR 2

To be fair the Nintendo DS is about as old now as the famicom was in 2004, and I think it’s early library intersects enough with sixth gen games to count honestly.

I couldn't understand why after such a brilliant first game they could frick it so bad with that sequel.
To be frank i dropped the game just after the first level, which was an exercise in tedium when compared to that of the originals.
Despite the attrocious start which could have been overlooked and given the benefit of the doubt considering just how good the original was, there was a glaring design inclusion early on that offended my highly refined sense of what Star Wars should be and ruined
the game beyond redemption.
I found the idea of having an older female as a Jedi or Sith companion utterly abhorrent. The notion was so preposterous that it immediately ruined everything.
In a way you could say the introduction of Kreia, an old hag who young men were supposed to find interesting was a precursor, a foreshadowing if you will to the existential mess that Star Wars finds itself in now. I can only surmise the on going reverence kotor 2 seems to garner be attributed to edgelord shit eaters, of which there seems to be a never ending supply.

I think the fact that it was one of the handful of RPG’s of its type on a home console up to that point made it a special game in a lot of peoples childhood memories. I think a lot of Xbox kids bought it just because it was Star Wars and wound up liking the game and the franchise.
