Both work, Gram is better if you have thorns. You could get Balanced Blade for her 3c too. Ultimately she is only good for Auto arena.

Betty's singular use is AI arena. Go with Mimir's to make people's life harder, since she'll heal and cleanse too after taking aoe damage if someone else dies so she can anchor.
If you're unironically trying to use her as a main tank in PvE content go with Gram.

I gotta say watching Gintoki without having access to his full potential, JP obviously missing the 5th god, is a little sad. He goes in, slaps 80% off of the tank and that's it. Nothing else. Have yet to see him kill a tank even if they're missing ~10% hp.
There's also this absolute madlad in my guild who posts his matches where the other side gets Gintoki who always grabs Saintess and gets some work done with her. There were even a couple times where he looked like he fricked up pick/ban badly and ended up 2 tank 2 healer + Saintess that he actually ended up dominating in. I always thought she wasn't bad but boy she looks pretty good.

I don't even remember what they did. I just remember dpsing them and getting lucky. The problem with this voyage is that once you beat 10, 15 isn't really going to be an issue. I personally feel though like you need a damage cut for the samurai's fire move. But other than that if you DPS him fast enough the other two are push overs if you follow their rules.

Thanks for the advice but as dangerous as Werner is, Ares is the biggest problem, two consecutive AoE and the only way to survive is to silence both units which basically means praying to the RNG and in addition Matthew is more of a hindrance than a help. .
Only 4 units + Matt against two boss units is absurd, at least in act 2 they had the decency to give Matt an FB for all units allowing you to free up slots for other skills and use combinations of units from different factions

There's a chance of data transfer even across regions, but it's highly unlikely and probably wouldn't be worth the work for them.
If the market for SRPGs and gacha in general was shit like Valkyrie Crusade or PhanKill, I'd undoubtably just play Langrisser again because the quality is so much higher. But gacha has come a long way since then and there are some pretty good games I'd rather experience than restart Lang. Especially with Archeland on the way, if it turns out really good I might drop Lang honestly. I pretty much only log in and do event challenges nowadays.

Also it seems everyone just ignores the "guard" skill, parfait scooter and 3c is the go to. Since we don't have that fancy new hammer everyone on JP is using Ymirs, with Guardian Armor, Tyr and Apex Boots. I don't see this changing until the new hammer comes, and maybe it won't change then either who knows. Enchant is, unsurprisingly, mostly breeze with a few full moons hanging around somewhere, together with one hp stacker who isn't even that high up with 2 green.

She actually gets damage from her talent and has more attack on soldiers. She also gets access to a second skill that heals after battle which can be useful, on top of the other effects.

I was thinking about grabbing Iron Chancellor, Rozenciel and Florentia if I went Empire for bonds + faction buffer
Healers are really inconvenient as faction buffers, although that doesn't make Rozenciel any less strong. All of those are good for PvE, although Ironblood Commander's legs are kind of short. I wish I could suggest Lucretia, but you would probably want to pick up Autokrato too, and that would be quite a pain. There might be wishlist banner next month, but you also could have other plans for that. I might say prioritize Bernhardt even though he's not as exciting as some of the others, since you'll have to bring him anyway regardless of the team comp. 5* like what was suggested by the other guy should be alright though. Empire and princess has some extremely good overlap.
He does seem to be a whole lot less useful. But, I don't know if he has a good replacement since being able to attack and retreat as cavalry is pretty nice, and sometimes you really need cavalry for PvE stuff. Even when you include Elwin in his SP class, it's not nearly as convenient. So he's not a waste to build, just lower priority.
You don't have the atk bond for IBC, Rozenciel and Florentia and all three need it.
I don't know if you started the covenant mode but you have two team Princesses and with the units you have it is better to build the Empire faction since it does not overlap with the princesses you have. Your only problem is that you don't have mage and healer for Empire.
Don't rule out building SR units since you have the essential bond to build some and are very useful like Freya when you need Fixed damage or Sophia which can be used as an off-faction healer if you need it.

Empire would be better, Yeless ain't so great. Like you could build Landius since he's great at slaughtering mages in pve but he isn't that great vs a lot of melee. He also buffs Gintoki but that's also pure pve, I highly doubt Landius got used any more than before in CN apex.
I would personally get started on Wehttam and Bozel, with Bern or Elwin next. Leon after that and if you want to pvp Epsilon. Only Elwin really needs 6* so the rest can stop at 5* initially. This is, of course, not taking into account future banners.

He's still ridiculously strong and is iirc still the only unit who can retreat 3 spaces after battle without needing a skill, which does come in handy in a fair amount of content. Chivalry>Assault is also as good of a combo as it always was.
I personally still use him in some content at 6*, Gold Knights are stupid strong and tanky, with his unique helping negate his weakness. I can't recommend getting his unique though, it's powerful on him but there are so many others that are actually a huge impact.

I don't really pvp so you're going to have to wait for someone else to answer that. From just spectating a lot of pvp looks to just be a slow push with a few characters who can move again/snipe/just straight go in from long range or throw a huge aoe or 2 out. By the time the slower pushers make it to the "front line" the map size is already reduced by a lot if someone didn't already resign.

I personally use Hilda as lancer for the higher defense and hp since she's basically never going to kill on counter, and physical enemies are most of the time what you end up defending against most of the time. I usually use her with other short legged people so her lower range doesn't matter. I can always just teleport her if anything using LoG anyway. Since cav units are EVERYWHERE in pve I'd guess you can go ahead and use Christiane as cav just fine but I don't have her.

For the most part it progresses about the same no matter what you do. Mana ore ends up being the biggest sticking point near the end since it goes up so slowly. The wishing machine is probably the best facility since you can get generic SSR shards from it, so probably work towards that whenever you can.
Level up all your resources as fast as you can.
After a while apartments aren't as important since resources are limited, the bronze ore is the one you need most so have the buildings take priority over wood and the other gemlike ore. Mana Transfer Pool are also important plus Storehouses since eventually you'll need a lot of each material.
I'll say Bernhardt, Lucretia, Rozenciel. Hilda are all great and probably the most vital. Leon, Helena, Elwin and Ares are all .strong
Who are the must-haves for Empire if I'm starting them out
The best of the SSRs are probably Bernhardt, Rozenciel, Lucretia and Hilda. Iron Chancellor is also pretty good, and Florentia is excellent for PvE. You really want Bernhardt running your faction buff, since your want the others to be doing their own thing, and Lance has been completely screwed by Zlong, so don't bring him. Lucretia is stupidly good long range DPS and currently does not have anyone that can match her. Rozenciel is almost required for a lot of challenges and there aren't any non-SSR healing options, so you might run Sophia instead. Hilda is a really good tank, but you can run Vargas before you get her.
As for others Leon has kind of been powercrept, but he's still pretty good for PvE stuff. You could also potentially use Christiane as your tank, although she'll want to be using her 3c princess faction buff/guard skill. And yeah, like the other guy suggested Elwin can be good for challenge content, but until you can fully unlock SP classes he moves very slow.
JP is so unfair, dumping Gintama with two destiny banners I wanted to roll before and after it, then dumping this lotto skin too.

Your core team>faction buffs minus Elwin>guards>anything that isn't garbage for the situations you want to use x character in. Lets use Elwin as an example because I already mentioned him. Unless you have summons or something to keep the refreshes rolling you don't want to bring his 3c to most pve situations. Wasting a turn to FB sucks but there are times where you can't just sac a non summon to refresh via his 3c.
So the 3C for stuff like Liana or Tiaris is still worth it?
Liana is great if you have a Jugler Plush, otherwise it's not as great. Tiaris is purely pvp or a short map you can blitz down in a couple turns. I don't recommend any healer 3cs until the rest of your core team has theirs unlocked. Eventually you'll have way too many moons and will be able to get the other mats basically any time you want so you don't have to worry about rushing unlocks.

Not really, money isn't as much of an advantage, biggest obstacle is that the grind is real and not being a day 1 player is a big disadvantage in high end pvp.

Hard to say, it's been running for almost 4 years, it doesn't seem to have a chance at growing but it hasn't suffered a big decline and it doesn't cost too much to maintain.

Yes, but to be honest you need like 5-6 months to be somewhat competitive and to reach at least Silver/Gold tier.

yes
Its the best SRPG on the market, but the grind is fricking awful, and no matter how much you spend you will not be able to skip it.
If you can make it thru the massove difficulty spike at lvls 50-70 and you can be patient enough to grind every day and accept youll be stuck many times thru 50-70, youll reach endgame in about 6 months.
At that point you have a few more months maxxing your heroes and just grinding up stuff like soldiers and gods to be truly competitive in apex.
But once youre there, apex makes it all worth it imo.
Lately a few heroes are pretty op cheese, but smart bannings help and in matches where you can avoid the worst/most game breakingly op heroes, even SR heroes are competitive in pvp if kitted right.
I love apex. Makes it all worth it to me. I do wish theyd nerf or ban some heroes because pvp was better a year ago before those heroes broke it, but even with them, its a very solid pvp experience.
Is the later difficulty strategy based or basically item/gear/level check?
Mostly stat/gear checks. Its really tedious.
When you hit that wall (and its a hard wall), just focus on sweeping your dailies and farming the resources they give.
Youll just need to slow grind thru till lvl 70, but keep in mind that your account levels by stamina spent (ie: 1 stamina = 1 exp pt). So thats what I mean by just slow grinding to 70.
You just need to hit account lvl 70 so your heroes can hit lvl 70.
If you feel like you like the game enough buy flag ASAP. I never spend unless it's those super rare 5 vouchers for $1 deals but if I did flag would be the first thing I would buy.
A lot of people slap double green on cav Jugler for example. Basically any sorc user gets bloated as frick. Elven cavs also are huge bloat, Narm goes sky high once you get her SP and put those on her.

SSSS is always a little tricky, even with super end game comps and gods. Some of the law and map combinations are a b***h to deal with, so you do just have to give up on clearing them. I haven't swept up to it yet so I can't help you with specific advice.

Since your tank got one shot I doubt what I did will help. I basically one shot Alustriel with Elwin, sword danced Grenier and Yulia with Bern, finished off with Leon and Elwin, dunked on Jess with Bern and nuked Chris with Leon. Tiaris provided her talent and Lucretia literally just sat there and provided moral support because I was moronic and forgot what the law was. Coulda done it faster if I didn't go with stat boosted characters and actually used Thor but whatever.

He finally posted a match that wasn't more of an SP Lana showcase https://files.catbox.moe/9650op.mp4. He typically just ignores the fact that her berserk mode hits allies (no exclusive yet) regarless of whether or not he gets to pick Rozen. The typical comp he goes for is 2 tanks, 2 aoe and 1 healer. Sometimes, like this one, he goes 2 healers, though this time it was due to banning. His Lana is also ridiculous, every time there's an Epsilon on the other side he gets one shot.
How strong is he? He wiped out the opponent with only AoE and Cherie lost a life in counterattack against Saintess. Was the opponent on par with him or not?
If nothing else this video proves that Saintess is not a mediocre unit as other people claim.
Ranked match, he's in Langrisser right now. Cherie got fricked partially due to reflect damage and his using the def+ from ranged attacks armor. He basically is an aoe only player, there are some matches where Saintess gets banned because the opponent recognizes him and he wins literally with only SP Lana. The last match he posted was exactly that but I can't record it any more since we just got the Azusa and Oboro maint so chat log is cleared.

This is stage 4 rush, which is generally the highest stat check for this mode. He lists his troop attack at the start. 70% for Holy/Demon/Mage, 60% Inf, 50% Cav, 51% Flier, 42% Lancer.
I have full Aniki, and it took me 11/22 to do Stage 1. The largest red flag is having most units at 5* and only some at 6*, which indicates your account might not be very old. It also means you might not have had a lot of time to build other units up and get some good enchants on a variety of gear. Who do you have at 6*?
Stage 3 can be done by having the boss kill itself. So you want units that can move again after attacking, and ideally a holy unit who can one shot the gargoyles. Easiest here is obviously Kayura with her huge range and 3 space teleport, but it can work with Leon. The only stat you need here is HP to survive the boss aoe.
Stage 2 is also not a very hard stat check, it's mostly a tank check. You're either going to rng it by stacking buffs, or you have a tank with undispellable buffs like Ledin/Grenier/Albedo/Vargas who can tank the single target hit. You also do you want a good amount of dps to break the shield in 2 turns, but that's honestly not a very high stat check.
My account is one year and a few months old.
6 *: Yulia, LoG, Ledin, Gustav, SP Elwin, SP Narm and SP Lewin
All the other units I use are 5 * and 4 *. To deal with ET, AB and covenant I preferred to upgrade to 5 * most of the units I can FB and which are in-faction for ET and AB.
As for the equipment, I have 6 mage sets (3 breeze, 2 clock, 1 for Bozel), 4 flier / aquatic set (2 rough sea, 1 for Luna e, 1 for Jugler), 2 Archer / assassin set (1 rough sea, 1 meteor), 8 infantry / lancer / cavalry set (2 breeze, 2 rough sea, 1 full moon, 2 hard rock, 1 steel), 4 healer set and in addition I have various pieces of equipment at lv 50.
You can clear 1 and 2 to start collecting weekly rewards. Skip 3 and 4 until you have more resources. You have more than enough equip sets, so the low number of 6* is like you said, probably because you focused more on getting people to 5*.
Do Emerick's bonds right now, and he + SP Narm can cheese the first fight. The rest can just be misc. dps and hopefully a few good debuffers. Put on Goddess Tears and Nightblooms if you have any. Just don't let the boss ever use his second aoe by never putting 2 units in the same direction and he's basically a meatstick. Just make sure you have 100% hp on every other cast of his 3rd aoe. If you have Elma you can cheese him even harder. Prioritize killing the Assassins when they spawn every 5 turns or so and don't be afraid of using Thor to clear them. You have a lot of time to dps him down. Also lets you get used to the reinforce and swapping mechanics, and how op it is.
2 is harder, but since you're not doing 3/4 yet, you can use Frigg here with all your mages/Yulia and Ledin. Put in SP Elwin too because he's a good dps. Kill Hati on T1 and damage Skoll. The gimmick here is to lower Hati's HP down when he's on the top platform before killing Skoll, then breaking Skoll's shield, and instantly killing Hati after respawn. Should only take 2 cycles. The other gimmick is that the statue will hit 2 units for 90% of current HP after every 20 actions, but Skoll is only single target, so unless it hits your tank you're at no risk of dying. If your Ledin cannot tank, you need to either build up Vargas, or make him tankier. It's possible to deal with Hati instead of Skoll, and technically it has lower requirements, but it's also more complicated. SPWin is since even if he gets hit with 90%, he just heals it up himself. Gustav and LoG are great here too, so you shouldn't have much trouble with Frigg.

I have Landius guaranteed and I was wondering if it would be better to summon Christiane with the build banner or not
I'm interested in Landius because Yeless is the only faction that I have not built due to lack of units and if I decide to go down this path I would also try to summon Angelina and Shelfaniel so that I can use Oliver and Melania and therefore have a complete team of 5.
I'm interested in Christiane because I don't have a tank capable of resisting magic well but I honestly don't like the character. In this case, I should also summon Tsubame.
That's almost the worst Yeless team you could use. Landius himself is still good though, and having him lets you use other characters in the future.

When exactly can I use Landius. He doesn’t faction buff anybody in PvE so I don’t even use him at all even when I have him fully built
He tanks physical better and still brings the ranged counter. Of course princess has a huge roster of good characters so if you have a really good team for that already then there's no real incentive to use Landius outside of physical heavy maps with ranged enemies. Of course if you have Hilda built up then you have no real reason to use Landius ever unless you want to run some sort of Yeless team for covenant or something.
I would like to build a Yeless faction mainly for when needed in the Forbidden Battleground challenges.
I am aware that they are not the best units for Yeless but considering the bonds they are the ones that give access to more units for the faction. Alternatively with Landius the only units I could summon are Lanford, KoM and Listell.
For the moment in faction I only have Rachel, IBC, Oliver and Melania and I can't use the latter two because I don't have the bonds. Melania is the only healer besides Wiler for Yeless and Oliver is a buff stealer that I could use in Glory if I needed to.
I finished Act 2 with Hilda and unless Christiane becomes necessary in Act 3 I would prefer not to summon her since I don't have Tsubame.
I never use my Landius anymore unless I need a 5 move tank since I'm too lazy to change Christiane or Hilda's classes. Still, Landius and Christiane serve different purposes. Most notably, Christiane will get you nowhere in main story part 2 as a magic tank and only having access to Phalanx. If you have Hilda, she almost completely eclipses Landius because of how weak Yeless is compared to Tensei. Tensei doesn't even have that many strong PvE units on average, but you can blame the holy trinity of Rozalia, LoG, and Lucretia all being in Tensei. Yeless still has the old staples of Rachel and KoM, Brenda is still solid, and they recently got Archon and IBC, plus Adankelmo later on. The problem is that because of how strong Yeless was previously, a lot of these units are far removed from the rest faction wise and the only reason they want Landius is because Mythic and Strat is in an even worse position for PvE.

I got that Tiamat armor, two Odin hats and two Astaroths. I might finally replace Yulia's mdef down sr hat but I have no idea what to do with the rest.
Lana is still the only one to use Astaroth, but it's rare enough you're better off keeping it for futurepowercreep that synergizes with it.

The other mage dps staffs such as Queen's Scepter, Pale Staff, and Astaroth are shit with the exception of ab leaderboarding which isnt even worth it considering the monthly reward increase for top 1-10, 11-100, and 101-250, is just 1 fricking hero stone PER MONTH.
The other bosses such as events, gods, and general pve can be cleared with the regular BiS equipment. Optimizing for damage isn't worth the hassle of switching equipment.
I'll take the 100+ ore now over the chance for the next 2 years of a viable map wide mage dps
Sometimes you need to optimize for damage. Just look at stage 4 of the current thing. Sure if you use Frigg SoD synergizes anyways and you have more leeway on clearing, but not every account has that leeway. Especially if you’re going for a Baldr clear you need to maximize damage wherever you can. Some challenges you also very barely net kills if you’re using a guide and it’s super annoying to have to go off track. Or maybe a forbidden battleground map needs your Astaroth to cheese stun T1. These situations don’t pop up often, even moreso if you can clear normally anyways, but it’s way better than 100 ore.
I have never needed to optimize for damage when I reached end game. Frick optimizing for what if scenario. I am always out of red ore because of characters to build. I have received more than 2k ore for rare items and I’d rather use it than make it lay dormant for 2 fricking years which they ((might)) make it useful.

You yourself might have never needed to optimize, but niche equipment has more uses than AB and when people do need to optimize for damage, it sure as hell is worth the hassle of switching equipment. Also you can build characters you want for fun, but unless you have something specific you're building them for, it's not like you can't just build them later. I don't see any point in tossing something that has even a slight possibility of being useful compared to just doing something ahead of time. Even for the shittier rare ones like CoG or Spirit Griever, I keep at least 2 copies. You can ore and build those characters at any time, but you're not going to just randomly get a copy of Astaroth or Pale Staff to drop if you ore all of it.

Frigg is more accessible, but obviously not everyone has stronger mages than Pdps. Frigg also takes 2 turns to setup.

They're generous with that, until they aren't. Black Avatar was 20/25 turns for accounts well into endgame that optimized for dps. Imagine missing Lucretia/Rozalia, or SP Lana/Cherie. Then there are challenges where the optimal strat is to quickly clear something which has nothing to do with the time limit.

Yes, you need to accept the fact that the RE: Incarnation storyline and heroes background were adapted and somewhat changed (looking at you Lucretia and Gustav) for our new heroes from Langrisser Mobile to fit into Zlong newly made game. Without them we wouldn't have the continuation of Langrisser franchise.

Well, there are four paths to choose:

So depending on your choices you won't date every girl in your first playthrough. Also Elma, Maiya and Towa are available on every path. I've decided to try each one of them and even I didn't get all the girls confessions, but it's not really worth the time to do this, only if you are going for your favorites. The secret scenario can be pretty rough too.

The artistic direction of L1-2 remake is not comparable with that of Tonelico but at least tries to be as faithful as possible to the original Langrisser even if it eliminates some of the peculiarities such as the large armor.
Leaving aside the style of the faces, I find that Chris, Narm, Liana and Lana designed by Nagi are not bad, in some ways better. It must also be said that the drawing style of Urushihara has changed over time and, I say this as a big fan of Urushihara, the Betty drawn by Urushihara in my opinion is inferior to that of Nagi, the modern style of Urushihara is not suitable for Langrisser, especially in coloring.

We might get another one during 4.5 anniversary, but it still feels like they don't really want to toss these out too fast. Funny to call 1.5 years between limited banners too fast, but I guess collabs count too.
I might be going for Towa/Epsilon/Kreuger/Sissi. Probably Towa/Sissi since they look more PvE relevant than the other two. Missing very few characters, but I'll still be picking up Saintess, Gustaf, Oboro, and Kaguya off Destinies. The problem is I also want to comp Gintama, Lightbringer/Annie, and NuZeri/NuLucre so unless I get lucky I'm going to have to make sacrifices somewhere. Currently at 430 pulls saved, and I unfortunately had the luck to go just before pity on Ashumere/Lostham. Not sure if I should skip Saintess or someone else, since she's Lightbringer's bond. Towa and Sissi are never coming back on a good rate up for me though.

Vargas is still pretty good if you don't have one of the empire SSR tanks built, since he can revive multiple times. Hein as SP is also pretty good, but overshadowed by the SSRs if you have them. Emerick is pretty crucial for an easier Ragnarok stage 2 and Iris could also be used for that, although she can be replaced.

All but Altina have some kind of use. You might be able to bring one out from time to time in non endgame things while Vargas might be able to tank something that's actual endgame. There may also be niche endgame uses for some others. Iris is a good healer so that's something at the very least. Though saying good healer isn't saying much when every healer that's used is at least very good. Lance is lol though. Literal shit, just forget about him unless you really really REALLY like him. Like, REALLY like him.

It’s worth doing since there are lots of enchant stones in the long run. Thor makes them even more trivial except for H&M because of his melee ranged phase. Also those two bosses you mentioned are particularly good with Jugler.

Hard to say since a veteran player would probably have no issue with most of them. The last boss can be fairly hard though.
You need to consider your soldier training level, how many stars your units have and whether they have both classes unlocked, the quality of your enchants and masteries, and how many fully built units you have available.
From personal experience I can tell you that in most cases you should be able to complete the various maps, not easily, if you have at least 70% atk soldiers, units of at least 4 * (better 5 *) and decent enchants and mastery.
The biggest problem in covenant is the variety of units, if you are used to mainly using only physical or only magical units, you may have problems because there are some laws that reduce the damage of one of the two types or there is the law that a a certain HP% the damage of a type is halved and at another HP% the damage of a type is increased. Another important thing is fixed damage, at least one if not two maps per covenant have the law that decreases all types of damage except fixed damage

So on a whim when they were available I bought the equipment and character select bags, but I had no idea what to pick out of the equipment bag, and am still sitting on it. Is there anything really amazing worth grabbing from it. I just have so many options I'm a tad overwhelmed
Equipment bag is mostly for people who pvp and need more swordsmiths/twilights. I guess you can pick up a super rare weapon that you can't get or don't have enough of, or last rites.
I sort of agree with the other post, but whatever you pick, make sure you can use it on several people. So, the swordsmith emblem and twilight stars are still good options, but you'll never have enough Ragnaroks or Last Rites. I guess the other stuff that you need constantly are Forbidden Defender's armor and Fury of Tyr, but those are a little more common so not as worth it for the money.

Lucretia is fine without her attack bond the same way Hilda is fine without her defense bond. It depends on what you want to clear. Losing either is ~12% in stats after heart bond, but characters usually have more attack in the first place and heart bond makes up for more defensive stats. In PvE, you usually want the damage more than trying to cheese any challenge oneshots. In PvP, Hilda's def bond would probably be slightly more important, as ST Lucretia would nab almost any kill anyways on other dps. Keep in mind that Hilda's playrate is going to go down later on though from Lightbringer while Lucretia is still omnipresent.
I managed to roll IBC in my last 10 so now I'm trying to choose between bond unlockers out of Maiya, Virash, Werner (non Sigma ver) and Autokrato with my 2 of my 3 saved up pick bags.
One of the bags is going to Licorice no matter what for Florentia ATK/Lucretia DEF
If you haven't hit the 765 day bag yet, it lets you choose a Lang 1-5 character, so you can pick up Virash for free. He's also popping up on a destiny soon I think.
Auto only unlocks Lucretia, but you can use her everywhere. Maiya unlocks 4 bonds, but they're all the def bonds of dps while Werner unlocks 3 def bonds and Archon's attack. If you plan on using Archon, I would go Werner who isn't a bad unit himself. Else just go Auto for Lucretia.

Water soldiers are useless outside of lobsters if you have Jugler built. Elementals and whatever those pirates were called are good but super niche, so you can ignore them completely. The rest are garbage or even more niche.
Phalanx are the only useable lancers. Offensive wise amazons are decent but not really worth the resources. States are like the only other actually good lancer troop that's useable but are once again not really worth the resources, especially when still building up other core soldiers.

I didn't get who I wanted and got a new off-banner, a duplicate off-banner, a guaranteed unit in destiny and a useful unit of which I don't have the main bond. Luckily I've learned to stop and not waste all the crystals I have like I did in the past when I didn't get what I wanted.
Many in my guild have gotten off-banners. Perhaps the usefulness of the build banner should be re-evaluated, more than a help it seems more a trap to make players spend resources.

What’s the alternative, wait for 3-6 months for a character that they want which also isn’t guaranteed since they may or may not have the two other characters in a destiny or the character that they want is also in a rate up?
As many veterans say, a new player should only summon on destiny banners and not rate-ups. In my opinion a new player should also summon useful units and not units they like, I know people who started before me and still haven't completed ET because they only summoned waifu or units they liked without thinking too much. A good summon can sometimes make a big difference to game progression.
Regarding the build banner, it is true that it is useful, but getting a duplicate or useless off-banner in pity is not pleasant especially for a f2p or for someone who needs a specific unit needed to progress in a content.
Zlong should start to be a little less buttholes, it was clear that sooner or later the normal schedule would not be enough to make most of the units available and using the build banner and the future build banner L1-2-3 does not solve the problem. I remember that one of the strengths of LM were the Destiny banners, the problem is that apart from the most common ones, the new ones are not as advantageous as in the past. Suzette, Renata, Mariel, Lambda, Kaguya (although strong her atk bond is quite rare), Rainforce, Vincent, Epsilon, how useful these units can be for a new player?
A new player will have more and more problems in obtaining some key units, just think that the destiny Elwin / Leon / Bernie at least until the end of the year will not return to global. A game like this needs new players as well as veterans, I can accept the slow progression but now even the banner schedule starts to become a problem.
Yeah its a gamble regardless but it is worth it. You can't really play safe rolling destiny banners because it also fricks you up in a way, it is also a gamble, 66% chance to get fricked, and then 50% chance to get fricked. So you waited half a month at least for 2 cycles of that destiny banner to recur. You think that the next would always be 0% chance to get fricked until...
A scenario:
So you saved up for a destiny banner and you can see that it is recurring so you roll hoping that you get it... but you didn't, so you save up for the next destiny banner. And then guess what? the recurring banner changes the roster and the hero you want gets out of that destiny.
Lets take the look at the destiny banners that do not change.

Questionable banner. Landius is not good for early game, Jugler is kind of deprecated, and Yulia is a good pick but there are other heroes that improve qol by a lot.

Ledin is Narm's attack bond for ancient beckoning which makes Ledin an unironic good pick contrary to popular belief. You'll want Rachel way later in the game "if" Yeless competes with the Empire, Glory, and Princess PvE faction.

You probably wishlisted tiaris anyway so you won't roll in this banner.

These are the banners that you want to save. Historically Elwin's banner recurred September 2021 - January 2022(3 months) - June 2022(6 months) - October 2022(4months) so a ballpark of 4 months. Bozel's banner is October 2021 - July 2022(9 months - did wikigrisser mess up?)
Lets pretend the average is 4 months. Thats enough for a player to save and go for the highly contested banners while playing safe on the recurring ones. It doesn't help that the strong characters are usually on a rate-up.
You may be biased by seeing a lot of people with off-banners but that is just the minority, You don't see the 80% of people who does not get fricked
Landius is required for Act 2, especially if you can't get Hilda and / or Christiane with at least one bond.
Yulia 6 * is a one girl (sword) army.
Jugler makes life easier in some challenges.
Ledin is a beast, the only things that make him inferior to other tanks are the lack of a ranged guard and revive, but he still does his job well.
I have Rachel but I haven't had a chance to use her properly yet.
Altemuller is not the best, but it is a 100% buildable unit without problems and to date I would have preferred to summon him rather than Rachel since she has been on the bench for months now.
Lana is a good mage, the problem is that by now the players are spoiled with LoG and above all Lucretia.
It’s hard to recommend those characters because of power creep. I’m sure they would clear content just fine, but the tensei characters are super efficient at clearing stuff
What I meant by Ledin being a good pick is that you wishlist him so that you don’t need to roll on that destiny banner and get a glory buff on a tank with SSR stats instead of using a SR tank in the early game pre-70 which is approximately 3 months. Sure you can get Hilda or Landius, but do they faction buff anybody especially Cherie
Jugler is deprecated in PvP, although he's still in rush boxes I guess, but he has no replacements for the times you do need him in PvE. On normal maps LoG and Lucretia clear more efficiently, but for bosses SP Lana is still right below Lucretia and that's only because of Lucretia's 3c still being the only ST skill to apply mdef -30%. Ideally you would bring both anyways if you needed mages.
The only 2 I would never recommend are Rachel and Alte. I did use Rachel for Ragnarok stage 1, but that's basically the only playtime she had in a year. Unless you desperately need a strat buff, Alte is one of the worst pulls.

SP Lana hits like a fricking truck still and can be set up for high ST or wide AOE. She pairs well with Lucretia or any Princess team. Definitely still worth investing in, especially with newer content requiring more and more long range mages.

The 12 unit rotation banner to help new players constantly rotates every month, so the Elwin/Leon/Bern banner appears every 4 months, same with the other 3.
We get 3 destiny banners every month now to compensate for the expanded roster. The problem you're describing is just because we have far less units that powercreep PvE compared to PvP, so many newer units aren't as useful as the old ones, but still get put on destiny banners. I mean, it wouldn't hurt for them to double up on those banners because they're a fixed 12 and have 2 run every month, but it's not like you necessarily need the starting units to clear content. There's just some really bad picks for PvE. I wouldn't put Mariel/Epsilon/Kaguya on the same level as the rest. The other thing is that destiny's are less useful to newer players because they don't have many of the other units in the first place because the roster is larger, so it usually ends up being a coin flip.
Getting rid of off-banners is probably never going to happen. Doubling up on the new player destinies might, but it looks like they prefer to do the 1-3 wish banners instead. It does alleviate it, but it does suck to pull a dupe off-banner. The solution I would prefer would probably be to implement a 2nd and 3rd wishlist banner at maybe level 60 and then 70. The 2nd could be a fixed 8 of PvE staples not from the 1st one, like Rozalia/Lucre/LoG/Hilda/Rozen/Flo and 2 more. Then the 3rd could just be a choose your own wishlist.
If anything, I'm pretty sure slow progression from 60-70 and difficulty spikes from not grinding Aniki are way bigger of a problem for newer players.

More destiny banners would be better, if I really have to gamble I prefer at least to have a protection from duplicates, especially if a 6 * unit. Being able to buy an SSR bag more often wouldn't be bad.
The idea of implementing two wish banners is not bad at all and would help with the bonds problem and above all to obtain a tank useful for act 2.
Aniki's farming is an integral part of the game, new players must understand this, I neglected it for a long time and I paid the consequences. However, it must be said that the 40/70/40 rule in PVE is still valid since the covenant and the final part of act 2 (except the fight with Transcender) can be faced with these stats and if you do not waste resources on useless stuff (eg. Redeemer lv10 used only once, Sand Sea for Clotaire used only in AoE, Dark Guard lv8 used only for Freya's 6c, Masked Maid lv10 used only for Elwin until someone told me it was better to use Steel Wing Warrior , etc) are not that difficult to obtain.

In PVP they can both be useful, Werner is strong and Sissi can create a lot of problems for the opponent.
In PVE Werner needs high stats especially if you want to use him in covenant and other endgame content, and is very useful in JB on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
In PVE Sissi is an interesting unit with useful skills but needs 6 * or 5 * + exclusive, it is very useful when used in Glory with SP / Elwin 3c. Honestly I have her 5 * + exc and I never use her.
Sissi can toss out a decent summoned tank that can absorb a hit and her buff is amazing. She's a jack of all trades. You do need 6* + exclusive for it to be reliable though
I have been wondering for some time now, 15% of the atk / def bond and 5% of the heart bond lv10 how are they applied?
They’re applied to the white number, which is base stats. The only other modifiers here are levels, class mastery, and stars which are all additive. So 10% Bond 1, 5% Heart Bond, and 15% Bond 4/5. If you’re missing bond 4/5, you have 110/125, which is 88% stats.
It amazes me that even in shit tier pvp fighting people who haven't even maxed Thor they have entire boxes of meta characters.

Just having Elwin is already great. 80% isn't ideal, but you only need to clear once, so you should be able to make up for the 20% he doesn't heal.
These are clears without Elwin, which either use Matthew instead, or use Strat.
Nekorin also has Princess clears of older content.
I remember when I tried Pheonix 65 without Elwin, I ended up using Angelina just to rotate the debuffs and tank when Ledin couldn't. So Ledin/Angelina/Tiaris/Almeda/Leon. Focus on surviving, not speed clearing. If you can't finish due to the time limit, then consider where you can improve on mechanics or dps.

No, and even if there was a sharding improvement it would most likely be for new players only.
You always have to consider the people actually paying money to roll on banners. A good chunk of the game's revenue comes from people rolling dupes on newer banners to quickly shard up units and/or just get them.
Shards allow you to max 1/2 of the released characters as we only get 2 a month. Every dead month is +180 shards for the player base to catch up on. This is also assuming players even want to shard up both characters on the release banner. If they release a banner that's a bust and not worth sharding up, either to delay powercreep or otherwise, it's another +180 shards. The wishing machine we got recently has around a 1/20 rate, 1/30 at the far end if you're unlucky, which is an extra +7 shards or so per month. Then, every double GoF week is +63 shards. The people spending money are assumed to at least get the characters in the first place, but many other people will stop after rolling for one, and then go for the destiny banner only if the unit is good, which means even if they release a good double banner, that banner has to stay that good for 6 months.
So onto solutions. One of the most common is probably upping the limit per day. But if you just look at the last year, going to 12 might be the limit, and it would definitely impact the game's revenue already.
Starting last year, we had Samurai Troopers, Lucre/Auto, Ep/Mu, Suz/Christ, Giz/Alpha, Ham/Werner/Marie, Elma/Kerz, Ares/Saint, Gustaf/Michel, IBC/Archon, Valkyrie, Oboro/Azusa, Caro/Kaguya, Lostham/Ashumere, and will be getting Brenda/Julian to finish it out. Maybe 1/4th of them would meet the 6 month criteria, and like less than half would be priority to shard. We also had a completely dead month.
New player solution is simple. Double adventurer aid to 2 months, give double GoF during it. Give 500 universal shards at level 60, and 500 more at 70. ~1500 shards which is half a year's worth.
Fair as your analysis is, I disagree. I am of the idea that if they made 18 GoF permanent their revenues would not decrease, this is because you have to consider the mentality of a whale and of those who compete in Apex, none of these people want to wait the time necessary to shard a 6 * unit, whether it is a month or longer.
In the current state of the game 9 GoF a day is not enough to build all the teams necessary for endgame content and Zlong, as always, does everything to penalize non-old players by limiting the use of units.
I don't even say to increase the daily shards per unit but I would like to be able to shard more units in one day. To face covenant you need at least twenty units and for ragnarok about thirty and they must be at least 4 * (with some exceptions)
If we consider the next upgrade system, Zlong are completely ignoring the new players and frankly, under current conditions, I would never start playing LM today.
Whale != compete in Apex. You can see in the discord, from content creators, and from top guilds that the number of people who immediately 6* every unit on release is an extremely small minority. The people who plan their GoF around Apex playoffs and roll only units who will make it into their box or they want to try out are way larger. Hitting EoL every cycle wouldn't even be anywhere close enough to 6* every unit on release. 12 is a toss-up. Perm 18 would absolutely hit revenue. You can literally max all future units to 6* without rolling any dupes.

For a new player, yes. A year of playtime, with occasional double GoF, wishing machine, is around ~3500 shards. You get a small boost of 15 for 5 GoF for every new unit, so ~3600. If you added in my preferred solution, it would be ~5100 in a year, or since you can hit 70 earlier, 3300 in half a year.
Covenant/Realms does need 20/30, but you're discounting the use of SRs, and that you don't really need the full 8 for all the Realm maps. Emerick, Narm, Hein, Iris, Sophia, Sonya, then Liffany, Klose, and Klose on some comps. The latter is also extremely end game content, and I don't think a year is unreasonable to get to it although ideally if this were a standalone game you would be able to run through the content pretty quickly.

Realms yes, but the tower defense mode and the related passive skill for units is another horizontal upgrade system. I mean, I don't disagree that giving new players a boost of shards is better at retaining them while not losing out on that much revenue.

Apex players are the minority. I wouldn't be surprised if less than 30% of players have even touched Apex, but seeing how much they focus on Apex, this group clearly makes up more than their fair share of revenue and certainly makes up more than the non-Apex whales rolling to 6* on every banner.
There has to be a cutoff at some point. Even if you made it retroactive for a year, then people who started 366 days before would be left out. The same thing happened with the updated new player event, extended Adventurer Aid, and wishlist summons. The obvious solution for other games is to just give every existing player the rewards, since usually there the rewards given to older players doesn't matter as much as the player field is leveled more often. But giving 1000, or even 500 universal shards in Lang to the entire player base would be insane. Although FGO did give out like 400+ Quartz to the average player with their anniversary and had their 2nd best month to date, although they stacked a highly anticipated anniversary unit with 6 powerful summer servants, so who knows.
Put out an Oathsworn banner with no off-banners, give everyone 300 rolls + 1000 shards, make NeoZeri a single banner exclusive like Wettham, and then toss in 2 more anniversary exclusive units on their own solo banners in a month because why not, and I can bet you there's going to be a ton of returning players and either the game has it's best month or it dies the next from people quitting.
i'd estimate around the top 50 actually hard shard their units to 6 stars on release. and i'm saying that as someone who was a casual spender 0 EOL skins and has been in playoffs for most of the seasons.

i agree with you that 18gof would help and honestly they need better new player catchup mechanics. But i doubt they'd ever put it in cause frankly zlong's proven themselves to be incompetent cash grubbing morons. I would never recommend langrisser under its current state to any new players they'll take years to catch up in terms of ssrs and aniki training.
The fact that units need 3months to hit 6 stars after a pull is the reason i stopped spending on the game alot of 5 star units aren't apex viable due to talent cds.
If they don't increase gofs i'd like them to implement a feature where you get 2x shards from gof if your sharding a unit that's been out for over a year. There's no reason anyone should be spending the same time sharding up a launch unit as someone 4 years later.

Interesting idea but not easy to implement. Imagine if a player reached lv 60 the day before such a system was introduced, a lv 59 player would benefit entirely from the new system while a lv 60 player would only benefit from the lv 70 shards, not to mention the players who may have reached lv 70 the day before the new system. This system would have to be retroactive by at least one year to be implemented in the right way.

I killed the wolves using SP Elwin and Cherie with a Peacemaker, although it's a little RNG reliant on Cherie's end. The wolves can easily be one-shot by either of them if you disable their passive skills.

So I picked up Legend Clover because of the ongoing collab and now I'm glad Apex exists to stop them from endlessly powercreeping too quickly. But SoLS was still a mistake. If they want ordinary tank push to ever come back to non-playoffs they need to buff defensive stats.
Anyways. No soldiers, but soldiers are now an entirely separate unit that you also have to gacha for. Release schedule is also much faster than Lang, about 2.5 main units and support units each month. Alts galore with limited seasonal units that are sometimes more broken and other times seem like they have 0 clue what they're doing. A ton of faction buffers but like half are on limited units. Also training still exists, but bond is merged with aniki mats into 1 daily and you have to grind less overall. No bond unlocks thankfully. Equipment is basically the exact same as Lang.
So no 3c and still with the 5 cost limit, how overpowered could this game have gotten? For one, they have master ranks which are incredibly unbalanced. All inf can act twice on a 2 turn CD if using inf troops, lancers all attack twice on counter, assassins all attack twice on player phase, holy have a 100% revive. Then you have the complete opposite, where cav get 0.7x fixed damage per block up to 3.5x before battle, archer/mage gets 15% def/mdef ignore, and fliers get 10% stats if there's no ally in 2 blocks.
Soldiers have 3 support skills that they come with. 2 passive and 1 active, that you can only use once, but costs nothing to use. For example, Apollon gives you 5% skill damage and when you initiate battle +20% damage dealt and -10% damage recieved. Her active dispels 2 debuffs and gives 30% attack for 2 turns to everyone in 2 blocks of you including yourself.
Then the main units. I'll use Master Ria and Master Lucia as examples. Remember that infantry can move twice.
Master Ria
Talent: Ignore 10% def when attacking. Before battle, gain +20% phys damage dealt and enemies gain +20% phys damage taken. Give all allied infantry +10% to all stats except HP.
Skills: Roar/Thousand Hooves/Deathmatch with +15% attack/skill
2c passive: When attacked with a melee attack, dispel one enemy buff. After battle heal 15% of damage dealt and deal 1x Atk fixed damage to enemy.
2c 3T CD: Give all allied units in 5 spaces 20% attack and 20% phys damage dealt. After using you can act again.
2c 5T CD: Deal 2x damage to one enemy, cannot be guarded. After battle, heal 50% of damage dealt. If you kill the enemy, CD-3.
Master Lucia
Talent: +20% HP and Terrain Master. +10% stats to all Cavalry. Every time you deal damage, apply one stack of "Nightpower" to the enemy for 2 turns, max 2. Each stack causes them to take +10% phys damage. If you initiate battle against an enemy with 1 or more stacks of "Nightpower", attack twice.
Skills: Regenerate/Def break.
2c 3T CD: 3 range 0.55x aoe that hits 2 rings around the target.
2c Passive: +10% Atk/Def. When you initiate battle, +10% Phys damage dealt and +10% damage reduction. After battle you can move 3 spaces.
2c 3T CD: Give all allied units in 5 spaces +20% atk/def for 3 turns. You can act again after using this skill.
2c 3T CD: Deal 2x damage to one enemy, cannot be guarded. Before battle dispel 2 buffs.
Reminder that this game released with the same power level as Lang on release.
there's a reason every game except langrisser from zlong dies, they're an extremely greedy company they're just too scared to do anything extreme to langrisser because it's going well.
LC is developed and published by DMM. Pretty sure zlong has nothing to do with it.

Is it fun?
It was okay for the first week or so, but it's very different from Lang even if it was straight copy pasted. Goddess Trials are the only thing requiring even some semblance of strategy. Almost every time rift map and main story map is just a map event. The maps are generally smaller than Lang's too, and especially with 5 movement plus multiple act agains, you can clear maps very quickly. Aoes have higher multipliers so you can clear mobs more efficiently. AI is even dumber than Lang's, but the maps are so braindead I mainly just played on auto. You can lose up to 3/5 units and still get a 3 star to sweep. Sometimes I would have to manual for feats, but sometimes not since they're really simple. The hidden treasures are also very easy to spot and most of the times no trouble to get at all so it hardly changes how you play the map. Bond and Exp maps are both on the level of Lang's exp maps. I.e. feels like there was no thought put into them and was meant to be easy to clear. Even the Goddess trail map design is terrible. Enemies mobs have 0 threat to them and are just there to waste time. The only reason there's any strategy is because the bosses are copy pasted with their unique triangles and gimmicks, and equipment is there to counter. But your units are so overloaded that you can auto and ignore anyways sometimes.
Ero scenes are good. It uses Live2D and is voiced unlike a certain other game that dropped it's voice acting for the main story.
The other point is that Co-op is also decently fun to play. There's only 4 difficulties, but each is different enough. You can tell some care was put into the map design, but it still pales in comparison to Lang's. Everyone I've met just full autoed co-op. No alternate win conditions or anything either.
Guild EX stuff just released recently, which I can't access, but it's supposedly like Ancient Beckoning. I feel like it's just Priconne with a Lang gameplay skin, or more like Alchemist with Lang mechanics.
After more than a year of playing the game I start to think that maybe if the game was more brainless it would be better. I appreciate the difficulty of LM when it is needed, but blocking the story mode through an exaggerated consumption of stamina (there are players who give up completing the story because they prefer to spend stamina for CB aniki), stats-check or even units-check is one of the negative sides of the game that I just can't stand.
In my opinion, Zlong should consider introducing a difficulty system, with adequate rewards, that can allow everyone to face the various challenges the game has to offer.
Example:
Challenge lv 70 event
Easy, which can be completed by all lv 70 players, even the most recent
Normal, which can be completed by lv 70 players who at least have 40/70/40
Hard, which can be completed by endgame players

I entirely agree. I also just hit 1 hear of playing (got my matt skin) and I still havent made the effort to work my way through the main story (let alone not even clearing the yeless time rifts).
There is to a point where the unreasonable difficulty gets too frustrating and everything that isnt daily sweeps/grinds is seen as a chore and not a pleasure.
The worst is that the difficulty is merely a hard stat check, where even at over 8k power for each of my main heroes the challenge feels annoyingly artificial when Im fighting base soldiers at 30,000 hitpoints..
Jk, equipment is just as geared towards damage rankings as any other game like it. They just released a weapon with +30% damage dealt if you have triangle advantage and -30% def/res, an armor with +15% damage dealt and -20% HP/-50% healing recieved, and a hat that gives +50% crit chance and -20% damage.

Saw the preview for the next major update and man, I forget this game has a story, I get so bogged down doing other things. I'm only a little ways into part 2. Are there any really noteworthy rewards later i the story? Or are they actually hoping we're playing this kuso for the story?
Mainly the map events and side stories which give free SSR equips. Sometimes tickets and vouchers.
If I remember correctly, as rewards there are crystals for the completion of each chapter, some materials (class, awakening, ores, etc. but not aniki) sometimes vouchers, in some sidestory SSR equipment and GoF in some 30 stamina challenges.

Heimdall at 60%. Don't know when I'm going to stop being lazy and get Baldr to 60% but waiting for exp to accumulate was annoying for Heimdall, I totally can't wait to do it again and then again after that. I guess another one will be out by then so add another one too. I need to like, finish up Frigg at least since people sometimes bring her along instead of Thor for some challenges. How awful is her 9 and 10? Thor 7-8 were easy but 9 was annoying and 10 had Fenrir which was somewhat frustrating.
Unironically don't bother for a week and come back stronger. Rinse and repeat until you can clear.
Note Odin's summons cannot tank magic. If you have rozenciel + tank + 2-3 mages. Its pretty trivial
This is a good strategy and accessible to most players given the units used. In general, to facilitate the fight, it is best to surround Odin.
I have all the covenants at 90%, in general lv 9 is quite feasible for all the covenants but lv 10 I haven't tried yet because some conditions are annoying.
it is better to wait and slowly upgrade a covenant rather than face the stages as they become available.
You're gonna have to clear them eventually for the yellow orbs to upgrade their skills

It's fairly hard make use of the portals other than for Adankelmo herself. Going through without an act again is just asking to go 0 for 1. Then you need to be in range after your act again, which is also hard because the portals are telegraphed. She's still seen quite a bit, and the portals imo are very strong, so she could easily see more play depending on units released in the future. Right now they just mainly zone the opponent until the poison makes the portal irrelevant. They can also be used to help retreat, but again, another hard use case.
The finals was a pretty good showcase of her.
Lostham sees way more play than her because you just toss him into any box depending on the map. Both also released close to playoffs, so Lightbringer sees more play because it's easier to fit her in when she's a tank.
I agree that Elmo/Lostham are the only 2 seeing lots of play. Right below, Azusa/Oboro/Kaguya/Mcclaine see some fringe play too, especially Mcclaine on water maps. As for Gintama, Kagura actually only sees fringe play too, while Gintoki is in nearly every box.
I don't think NeoLuc is going to see much play, but SoLS is going to be in nearly every box too.

Frick Zlong for the umpteenth time. Cavalry that cannot be tanked, and an infantry capable of counterattacking even at 5 ranges plus 3 aoe units.
I think it's not even worth trying to do these challenges anymore, in the forbidden store there is almost nothing useful and the controllers are blocked behind absurd challenges as usual, even if you understand how to complete the map if you don't have the stats you have zero chance of succeeding.

To be more precise:
Infantry survive with 2% HP after being attacked by SP Elwin 6 * + unicorn
The Flier survives with 15-20% HP after being attacked by SP Narm 6 *
SP Cherie 6 * manages to defeat the crystal mage using a skill + normal attack.
LoG 6 * fails to oneshot anyone
The cavalry, flier and mage training is 50 + / 70/40 and the archer training is 40/50/40.
it is obvious that it is a problem of stats but with the current stats I have unlocked Odin without problems. How high is the stats check in battleground?
Battlegrounds was released pre-covenant and not meant for you to have the stats from it. It was like 2 and a half years ago too so I don't think we even had 80% training at that time either.
The key difference in battlegrounds is that both you and the enemy have the 1.4x HP modifier in PvP which is why blood dance is broken. You're not meant to oneshot them. If you can, then you're way overstatted already. Whether you need to depends on whether the units you have to clear the faction only challenges suits the stage.
The second difference is that enemies don't all aggro on T1. For the first map, the top left set of 3 enemies won't if you don't go in their danger zone.
A lot of the difficulty comes from their passives. The flier gives 50% reduced damage dealt and +50% damage taken, so unless your Narm is using Ullrs while having decently high stats, she's not going to one shot it. The dragoons giving 100% increased damage on initiation is another passive. Same with the infantry counterattack. You also don't need to clear the no death and faction ones at the same time, so you're allowed to take 1 death for the faction ones.
You can get everything worhwhile from the level 50 alone.
