combat is more fast paced and it's overall prettier, but it has weaker pvm outside of the combats since the missions are very few and there's not a lot in the cheevo department

I think wakfu has more indepth mechanics than dofus. But dofus is less afraid to break the mold and be more creative. At the same time it feels that Wakfu is more willing to revamp broken aspects of the game while Dofus very rarely modernizes super ancient archaic bullshit (like incarnations)

but its not exactly the most creative in exploring all of them, a lot of the things sure they exist but they aren't really pushed to the limit whereas in dofus it feels like every single avenue of possibility has been explored and they are constantly trying to find more and more depth and complexity out of the more limited set
dofus is definitely a lot simpler, but its getting all that it can out of that simplicity, while wakfu doesn't live up to the potential of its mechanics and variety.

I used to play 10 years ago, Water Xelor, so it was unbalanced as shit and borderline useless, but it was fun to roleplay the disciple of Nox.
Back then the game was terrible, zero support and when the servers bugged out and all the mining progress was undone, they ... made an event that gave free mining bombs, as they couldn't rollback.

It's more about changing how the class plays and feels. Give it new passives and stuff. For the other part, they've been trying to rework all the classes for the last years or so, because some classes feel really old and that the monoaccount server are coming, bringing a bunch of new player.

The intended gameplay is it's like FFT where everyone is controlling one unit. If you multibox you can play 100% efficiency since you're controlling the whole team and that kind of defeats the purpose. At least as I understand it.
Also can you customize your character's appearance at all? Because the male of the class I like looks moronic enough I might just play a girl and I don't usually do that.

You get like 8-11 hairstyles and 1-2 outfits depending on class and you can manually set the RGB colors of individual outfit pieces, skin/hair color etc.

As stated above, no multiboxing or npc companions to assist you during combat means you'll need to cooperate with other players, which is good since regions gives global bonuses to everyone who does the shared missions there. At least thats what I remember last I played a few years ago, when the server I was on was mostly dead and none of those missions were completed save for the starting area.

well you can try but the game has no native controller support at all, you'd be using touch screen 90% of the time
the gm in my guild uses linux so it works but I doubt it will be fun to control without a mouse

"nowadays" depends a lot on when you stopped playing. Crafting is easier (and actually worth it), items are pretty strong, competitive mode means your old gear can still be relevant, the endgame is 230 so there are a lot of brackets, dungeons got reworked so a lot of them are shorter or not as bullshit (still remember the absolute insanity of Haagen Daz), it's generally in a great state. The only problem is that like 20k people play in the international server. You can now see why there's shilling around the game.

That would be Osas, and they have a wide selection of monsters they can capture across different regions in Wakfu for whatever your playstyle. Not sure where they stand in the meta today though.

Sadida and Enu are both high power level but very one dimensional. They're pretty much played on auto-pilot. They're useful in groups but maining them would be so boring. I think you should play complex classes cause it will be fun to explore their mechanics and you'll have a couple of different builds available.

Enu or Sadi?
Out of those 2, you should go Enu. Sadida is strong but poorly designed and one of the most dated classes. Half their kit (dolls) is completely useless (and even slows fights down so your farming will be bad). Their support side is strong, but very simplistic so you will get bored of it.
If you want a support with summons you can play Masq or Osamodas. They also have viable builds that aren't support so you can change roles to fit your team.
Are srams any good for the dickass thief experience?
Srams are powerful, but expect a rework somewhere down the line since they are very old.
The latest update really benefitted Srams. They gained a lot of versatility (before you had to choose between AoE or single target build, now you can use both at the same time.). They have big, big numbers and with help from a positioning ally you can set up to AoE backstab multiple enemies at the same time for really good mob clear. They have good mobility and invisibility is unique and pretty much makes you take 0 damage from mobs for a turn. They do damage and positioning and not much more however.
Panda for the best tank/positioner package or Ougi if you want a sticky melee off-tank that doesn't position enemies but deals good damage.

I don't know about wakfu; I know in Dofus retro some french dudes waste up to 10k euros to build broken sets and pvp; there are pvp mechanics and missions and you can "hunt" other players so I suppose it does.

Sac, osa, eni in that order are the OPest classes. Sac can tank/deal damage/place, eni can heal/support/deal damage, osa can do literally everything. And xelor is a big dick damage dealer/can also place. Anon is right all you're missing is a Feca to roll over the entire game.

Wakfu is the prime exemple of a game that gives way to many options to choose from for your build for my own taste. Like, yeah, it's fun for player expression but optimising your build is fricking hell.
Still, i won't deny that the last time i played Wakfu, the game was way more fun than what i remembered. It might even be more fun than DOFUS since this game is a mess full of bugs and is also curently facing a severe content drought now that more than half of the devs left to work on the Unity port.

The format of the game lends itself well to fun-having and socialization, given the turn based nature, partying being a necessity, it causes endless bants in-between turns, easily one of the most social games I've played, I doubt there will be as many people as we had before but enough to have a decent guild for sure

Iop and Pandawa suffered a bit because they haven't been reworked in a long time, but they are still fine. Same with Enutrof, they just had their bonus droprate thing removed. Some classes can solo better than others, but you should be fine picking whatever. Your pick should depend on the role you want to play and how complicated you want your class to be. Xelor for example requires maximum keikaku autism while Iop and Sacrier are still caveman tier.
