PoE2 might become really fricking huge. It's a step up from D4's casual and barebones garbage, but it's not as autism-filled as PoE1, so it sits in between and fills a gigantic gap in the market.

they've done a lot of developer talks over the past couple weeks, and it's still every bit as autistic as poe1, just with a few minor quality of life features like wasd movement and instant trade buyouts on common commodities.
I haven't watched too many of those, but from what I have seen and read, it seems like they want to reduce all the shit where you need to use third party tools, read guides on sites, watch videos on stuff, etc. etc. along with making everything much more streamlined and changing interfaces to make everything make logical and rational sense, and so on. Things like that can easily go a long way for making a game much more accessible.

The minimum to make poe anywhere bearable, is about 50 to 70 bucks. So I'd say that the majority which plays the game for more than 30 hours total, has spend at least as much. People who say they spend less, or that the game is free and you don't need the tabs, are lying and hardcore addicts who have fried their brain on the online casino. They try to sucker others into their addiction to feel less bad about themselves spending obscene time and money on it.

I keep coming back to Median and Path of Exile because past a certain point all the alternatives feel afraid to challenge me or make it so not every toon or build will do all the content. PoE rewards you more than the competition and respects you as a player enough to give you a new player alienating level of build options and gearing. PoE2 looks like it promises to take a bit of the grind and RNG out in favor of getting viable builds and support gems rolling faster and easier while being more readable than before while building upon the fast gameplay from before.

It's humdrum high fantasy stuff and the time travel element is kind of a footnote. Better than Diablo 4 obviously but that's like being better than someone at the special olympics.

Last Epoch had an """offline""" option before, but it still required you to reach the login server and authenticate with it, before then going offline. Now with the 1.0 release, they are giving everyone an actual real offline option that doesn't require you to reach any servers.

loot is personal but you can trade loot with party members if you found it while playing multiplayer
paladin has smite+healing hands for good aoe damage and healing, epoch doesnt have PoE aurabots that give massive group-wide stat buffs though.

Lich really needs another melee skill that can be used in human form, or at least more animations added to it for variety. Just the one gets really repetitive.

They absolutely are necessary. PoE is impossible to navigate for a new player now due to over a decade of bloat. The very fact that item filters are a necessity and vast majority of anything that drops in the game is fricking useless is quite possibly the biggest red flag there is. The game is the antithesis of ARPG games because you are doing yourself a disservice by picking up any drops in the first 100 hours of play. You just pray for an exalt/divine drop, then trade for your starter uniques and begin to farm while trying to farm more divines/exalts so you can make your epic build that is going to be nerfed next patch. And if you play SSF, you essentially are subscribing to a grind that makes korean mmos blush.

First of all you can only craft up to tier 5.
Tier 6 and tier 7 is drops only.
Second of all there are rare stats that are harder to get so you need to disassemble gear with those stats first.
All of that can be specifically targeted by the filter.
That is outside the usual "target only stuff you need for your class" shit.
The loot filter can be as powerful or as weak as you want it to be. You can literally filter anything in any way that you want.
but how do you use that to increase player power
...the same way every loot filter does? By saving you time so you don't have to check every single item on the ground.
By only showing items which are either a potential upgrade, or useful for disassembly into upgrade materials (and recolouring them based on which category they fall into) you spend less time checking items and more time making them drop.
Crafting mats are affix upgrades, so whenever you disassemble an item you have a chance of getting a crafting mat for each affix it has (so an item with T3 health and T2 mana can give you 0-3 health and 0-2 mana crafting mats).
You can filter to only show items which have specific affixes and only those above a set tier for example.
On top of filtering to show and not show, you can also recolour and highlight.
All of this is entirely ingame too.
You can’t craft T6/7 affixes onto gear, they only show up on dropped items. Doubly relevant because you need those items if you want to craft on uniques with legendary potential.
You should take the 15 minutes to learn to build your own item filters, it's incredibly powerful and makes target farming much easier.

Falconer going the invincible pet/follow-up pet route is about what I expected but it sounds fun. Probably my next choice after swarmblade primalist. Honestly got some doubts that this game will be that big, doubt its going to get as panned as D4 and I'll still have fun with it though.

IIRC the MTX is cosmetics, and from what I recall the grind is fairly lenient to get your initial build up until you get to the minmaxing portion of your build. Target farming is also a thing you can do if you really need it. That said you will need to use the filter system due to how much loot you run into and even the basic highest-quality/unique filter will fill up stash tabs fast.
The game is actually pretty good when you don't try to do the meta builds everyone tells you to play in beginner videos, but I'm not one who likes to suck a single video game's wiener so I'm going to say it's still pretty shabby around the edges

Saw that one of the primalist specs has a ton of stone skills. I'm a sucker for earth-bending of any sort and in PoE it's locked to slams (which are fricking trash, thank you chris).
How to make Stonebender in LE? Melee is preferred, pets are not
pick beastmaster (ignoring pets and going pure melee is viable), the new gathering storm skill can be turned from lightning to earth + on top of that you have earthquake or upheavel to pick between for a big nuke

I forgot, shaman also gets avalanche which you can turn from cold to physical if you want to pelt your enemies with big boulders, but the class is kinda meh currently and due for buffs
they rebalnced all of the skills and classes, for 1.0 shaman looks pretty fricking good now

I tried runemaster to 23 but I think I'm gonna get tired of the tri element archetype. I usually default to mages but I'm real over the generic elemental stuff. Acolyte, especially warlock, is looking cool. Anything any of you can share that might nudge me in a certain direction?
