what the frick else should it focus on? arpgs are about repetition.
make the repetition fun instead of an item grind, having a game that "starts" when you beat it isn't much of a game at all
agreed, the campaign should be full of "gear checks" where you constantly gear yourself to fit your current situation especially for the bosses.
Snow act? get cold resistance or it will be impossible to finish the act.
Lava act? fire resistance or you will die.
boss is weak to a certain element? take advantage of that info or you won't pass the DPS check.
that's how you make the campaign more interesting to play, make it a series of problems for the player to solve and create strategies for rather than something to brute-force through to get to the actual game.
I never understood this. It always seemed like putting the cart before the horse. People grinded in diablo 2 because the world was so fun to explore and the sound design was so great that you just wanted to play it forever. That didn't mean that it was necessary to be able to grind for numbers and that was the only thing the game needed to be.
got to level 10 and experienced 3 bugs by the 3rd quest had to restart my character once

Is using Chthonic Fissure to summon zombies a legit build? This character is probbaly fricked anyway for trying that since zombies scale off minion modifiers and by going Warlock first I locked myself out of the second half of the Necro tree and thus minion damage.

I played a bit in the EA but refunded at 2 hours. It just felt underwhelming and the combat felt grindy and boring. The hitboxes were off and had a "floaty" feel to it. I dont know if they addressed the issues but it just seemed like a mid game despite it being the lmfao D4 killer.
my first unique. works good in leveling zones, got to 1500% movement speed with stealing mods mod, makes traveling the shitty bloated zones fast

Fireball has a node where you can reduce enemy fire resist. Looks extremely useful for endgame

Alright Warlock Volatile Zombies was an abject failure it costs way too much fricking mana. I don't know what to do now...
I got 4 teleporting skele rogues and a giant death knight with my spirit channeling spell. I do like the idea of the leaping and puking zombies, though. Real fricking neat-o.
They even took the D2 idea of an enigma fishymancer so you can teleport yourself and your mages around with a skill. I won't do that because I play with a controller.
Oh I'm sure it works for Necro but I'm specifically talking about taking Volatile Zombie nodes on a couple of Warlock skills. It sounded cool but it doesn't work at least at lower levels. Maybe there's a way to mitigate it in end game with gear to reduce mana costs or gain mana but I don't know.

I mean you're obviously not playing something that uses a lot of mana. The ability to go into negative mana doesn't mean jack shit when you're going into negative mana after 2 casts and sit there and wait 5 seconds for your mana to regen enough to cast again.

Warpath is so comfy, I like more active builds that press buttons but nothing beats spinning for turning your brain off and mindlessly farming. Which is what these games boil down to eventually.
