I'm so fricking tired of this lie. Unless you are an absolute moron, you can make your own builds and clear the entire campaign as well as low to mid-tier maps just fine. I say this because that's what I've done since the game first released. Yes, if you want to clear the most difficult content, you may need a guide or a lot of experience. But that is not a negative. If the game was so easy that you could clear the most difficult challenges without putting in effort, everyone would complain about that as well >but muh big skill tree
I genuinely think you have to be stupid to get overwhelmed by it.
Playing as marauder? Look at the skills nodes in his general area of the tree.
Going for crits? Try investing in the nodes that improves crit.
Going for attack speed? Try investing in nodes that improves attack speed.
I disagree. There are plenty of things with the game that are shit, such as itemization, enemy variety and the battle pass system. But the game is perfectly serviceable. And while the skill system is extremely simple, the actual combat feels good. I think you just have a very, very low bar for what you consider shit.
I found D4 to be boring, to the point where I didn't even try to engage with the end-game. And I certainly won't come back to it, or its expansion. But at the very least, I played through the main campaign.
LE, I didn't even play it for more than 3 hours. Granted, that is mostly because of all the bugs and server issues. But even without that, the combat felt slow and clunky, which for me, is the biggest flaw a game like that can have.
It's shit. Every core fundamental aspect of what makes an ARPG an ARPG is absolutely fricking terrible in D4. >itemization is awful >skill trees are tiny and have no variety. you pick extra damage or extra defense, no skills change in function or use at all >legendaries and uniques do nothing but make numbers go up, they don't open up new ways to play >endgame is either a hindrance forcing you to do specific things and/or play with others

You have to be trolling. It takes fricking 5 to 10 seconds of clicking a wet noodle basic attack until you can cast your spender skill twice, then you mash 20 second long CD skills that do nothing but give you buffs or make you invincible. The combat design is the WORST part of the game. I refuse to believe you're being genuine about this.

Keep reading moron. I say you can do that without guides or experience. With experience, which I have since I have played the game since it first released, you can clear the hardest content.
Saying that you should be able to beat the most difficult challenges as a completely new player is just dumb. The complexity of PoE is perfectly fine. It is simple enough, as its core, for a new person to grasp, assuming he has more than the average sub-Saharan IQ. Yet it is deep enough that it still has something to learn for experienced players. How people see this as a negative I cannot fathom.

Firebrand has nodes where you can build stacks to let other spells blast even harder. Grab some of the passives in Spellblade/Mage that let's 10+ mana consuming spells to hit harder. been trying to do a co-op playthrough with my friend since launch. we've made it to level 20. i've gotten 2 offline characters through the campaign just waiting for servers to work.
It bothers me a lot. It bothers me how ugly everything is and how bad the animations are and how combat feels worse than decade old games. It bothers me there are no memorable NPCs, voice lines, set pieces, music, or even areas or boss fights. You can argue none of these things matter for a loot game but they do, they matter for every game ever made. It's made by some soulless Redditors whose brilliant idea was to solve issues other ARPGs have and didn't realize a game isn't just a collection of decent ideas for systems.
Every single ARPG I’ve ever played I blast past all dialogue. I’ve played through Grim Dawn 10 times and don’t know the story. It literally does not matter.
Wrong. I like graphics and effects, even on low settings it looks better than PoE and Grim Dawn. However: > and how combat feels worse than decade old games
That's probably because the mobs are "paper weight". There are some armadillos in the main base, you can push them around like they are carton cutouts, and most of the monsters are like that as well. But this is not only Last Epoch problem, other games, even those that are made in 2000s behave the similar way.
Isn't it funny how every arpg release/new season becomes fotm? The gameplay is literally normalgay-core, spam 5 buttons off cooldown to slash through hordes of shitty, no-threat mobs. It's crazy how many normalgays there are on this site
Except arpgs that were literally designed around trade and would absolutely israelite you out of gear otherwise, like PoE.
In LE, CoF is objectively better t6han trading.
>Except arpgs that were literally designed around trade and would absolutely israelite you out of gear otherwise, like PoE.
Is there any news how PoE 2 will handle this?
It is not always online, all of the content except trading can be done offline. That being said, I really can't understand how companies keep fricking up servers at launch.

>It's unbelievable how shit this game looks and feels.
watch out you're gonna get plenty of (You)s from people who think that presentation doesn't matter in a game like Diablo (which on an unrelated note is a game with amazing presentation)
No. The game can look bad but still play well, see Diablo 3.
Then a game can look good and play like shit, see Wolcen.
If skill usage isn't satisfying or feels impactful, your arpg is shit.
Yes, it's even better than GD in some aspects.
For example, you have a skill that can be improved, and there are nodes that let you cast another skill (or 3rd party small skill, like Flame Nova). These skills can be improved by nodes ELSEWHERE, on your character or on your mastery (Flame Novae from all skills now become Frost Novae and have increased damage). Grim Dawn doesn't have that, only indirect improvement via Increased Z Damage Type +X%.
>Don't have to deal with tradeBlack folk >Play to get the gear and not play to get currency >Bosses aren't designed around alt-f4 >Have fun the whole game and not just at the end
PoE 2 needs to copy the first two things, it's shit that 70% of my playtime is chasing currency so that i can play what i want
>moron instantly jumps to the most extreme example that 99% of trade doesn't even get
Yes you can clear the game with scuffed gear but this isn't fricking fun when the point of the game is to get the best gear.
SSF makes all your drops worthless. Even if you finally manage to somehow drop that super rare item, you have nothing to do with it.
It also considerably slows the grind of the game because now, instead of buying chromatics from someone, for example, you need to go around and pick up tri color socketed items for 20 hours.
THats the point of the game for you. I personally find it fun to make the best progress I can using whatever I find along the way, using whatever scuffed skills I enjoy using. I can't think of anything more dull than buying all the shit you need and then making a build like following a recipe.

I'm not whoever started the convo, I'm another anon. My point is people can play a game however they want. You think the point is one thing, thats your opinion only, not the only way to play. I always do play SSF from the beginning, I have never traded or followed a guide in any arpg. The fun for me is working it out myself, even if I spend a lot of time making shit builds and starting over. I really don't see the point in buying everything you need and following a build when the fun is making a build that works with whatever drops along the way.

If you follow the conversation the talk was specifically about PoE because it does SSF awfully and is literally designed around trading.
LE and GD and even Diablo make SSF perfectly fine and viable because they actually reward you with loot and not some dumb currency.

>you're wrong for playing the game as it was designed >I'm special because I'm a contrarian
SSF cope is always so funny.
I don't use trade in LE because the game is actually well designed for solo play.
It'll work fine for an hour and then shit the bed for an hour.
I got to chapter two and then I stopped having the ability to pick up any drops, they wouldn't even appear when you moused over it. I lost out on the starter idols due to it. Meh
I get we're starved for new arpg's and this is something different to play for a while but its incredibly mediocre. I can't even get through the campaign before losing all interest to continue a character.
would have been 1000x more funny if with every kill the character got bigger and one kill would chain explode the whole mobs in the map resulting in a game crash
>werebear is unlocked as soon as you unlock druid >but can't use it properly for several more levels because you gotta jump through a bunch of hoops just to make sure you can stay in werebear for more than 5 seconds duo to rage mechanic
this is ass, hope they rework this
I think the time travel gimmick is kind of neat. I definitely like the setting a lot more than Grim Dawn but it really just makes me hope that Titan Quest 2 is still happening.
>time travel gimmick
To my knowledge this gimmick only present in one dungeon where you swap time, otherwise I don't remember a single other instance where you can do that.
??? You time travel constantly throughout the campaign and it's the basis for the entire endgame.
Gimmick is something you use, not type of decorations you see. Nobody call it "fantasy gimmick", "sci-fi gimmick", etc.
In this sense you use time travel gimmick in one dungeon and it's cool, sad that entire game wasn't built around it.
So far the instances I remember are >going to a different time to get some device to activate a bridge >going forward in time to get a crest to access some wizard college for a side quest
>going to a different time to get some device to activate a bridge
Fun fact, if you open map you can see that this device teleport you 50 meters away from main area to that tiny area.
Anyway, you clearly aren't done that dungeon yet, you would understand what I meant - you swap time with D key whenever you want this change area, monsters around and obstacles around you.
Here is how you have fun with this game. Since you need to gamble (read craft) to make rare items good, you need money and materials to reroll shit all the time.
I kinda wanna get the game but it's really ugly and brown and unappealing. Gameplay looks cool but damn bro if the aesthetics aren't at least halfway decent I don't wanna play that shit. Characters are so ugly and gay looking.
I would say it's serviceable. I haven't hade the same feel as I did in poe where you could have 50+ minions on screen at the same time. Maybe you could hit that number with the right combo of equipment in LE but haven't spent enough time with a necro build to confirm it.
I'd say about an 8 as well, and I'm a full two days into monoliths. I expected endgame to fall off harder, but I quite like it. Warlock is a lot of fun, and I expect trying new masteries will keep me interested for a couple months on and off in between other games.
3/10, finishing last 90 monolith to see how "endless" monolith system look like, which I hope is unlocked right after
game is pretty boring, skill customization is nothing interesting, bosses are garbage, monolith are the same over and over again, dungeons are cool, arena isn't
>30 hours to reach 90lvl monolith
What are you doing with you life so it would take you so long? It's 1 hour per monolith plus story few hours long and most important I play at x2 speed. So everything takes me half of normal time.
>are the servers fixed yet?
Have been playing offline since launch, buddy got into it las night online, was getting 5-10-15min loads between zones, his characters armor wouldn't load so she was default looking the whole time, and the mobs in each zone wouldnt load ( they would be there but invisible ) meanwhile im offline with zero issues zoomin kek
That's good to know. Do we have any suggestions as to whether offline or online is the best choice? I don't plan on playing with anyone else but I probably wouldn't need the AH.
Game was FRICKED all day yesterday for me.
It's 6am where I am right now dude on a Sunday and the game servers still can't fricking connect
I'm just gonna uninstall and check back in a few months
shits mid anyway
I've been playing grim dawn and having heaps of fun doing necro with 2 handed. Its a lot of fun being able to do melee and summons at once but missing out on off-hand gear really sucks. I found a cool spellcaster off-hand that lets me summon a skeleton that gives me and my other skeles a huge armor buff and I really want to be able to use it. I was hoping dismantling gear lets me pull the bonuses off them and put them on other stuff but it just gives me crummy materials. Big sad.
>Its a lot of fun being able to do melee and summons at once
It doesn't work that way. In Grim Dawn pets scale with Minion Damage, you need to take all the nodes you can take to boost it past 1500%+, this way you CAN'T possibly have good melee damage (you can do 50/50, but your pets may not function without enough bonuses).
I'm just doing the campaign and it seems good enough. I can tell that I'll hit a wall eventually since I'm having so much trouble already finding ways to get more cold damage out of my phys to cold modifier while keeping my resistances up and then also stacking pet bonuses but it does for now. I actually struggle a lot trying to juggle all the multiple ways to stack bonuses. It feels overwhelming at times.
They're working fine now. Not as good as a year ago as there's still some hangup from going from zone A to zone B sometimes, but I only expierence that twice last night when I was playing.
The endgame sucks just as much as it does in D4, what the frick? You just run monoliths like a homosexual and there's no big bosses or anything to work towards.
Last epoch literally and unironically has a fully offline mode that they released with 1.0 and they're even telling people that the best option right now is to just play fully offline.
Just because morons complain about not being able to play online, doesn't mean the game is always online, shitposter-kun.
Offline is actually objectively better in this game.

It's made by some soulless Redditors whose brilliant idea was to solve issues other ARPGs have and didn't realize a game isn't just a collection of decent ideas for systems.
it's whole hype is basically "it isn't Diablo 4 lol"
grim dawn is still better
None of these things matter in a loot game, no matter how much you'd like to pretend they do.
last epoch is designed by reddit, thats why
Every single ARPG I’ve ever played I blast past all dialogue. I’ve played through Grim Dawn 10 times and don’t know the story. It literally does not matter.
Wrong. I like graphics and effects, even on low settings it looks better than PoE and Grim Dawn. However:
> and how combat feels worse than decade old games
That's probably because the mobs are "paper weight". There are some armadillos in the main base, you can push them around like they are carton cutouts, and most of the monsters are like that as well. But this is not only Last Epoch problem, other games, even those that are made in 2000s behave the similar way.
Isn't it funny how every arpg release/new season becomes fotm? The gameplay is literally normalgay-core, spam 5 buttons off cooldown to slash through hordes of shitty, no-threat mobs. It's crazy how many normalgays there are on this site
You know what's more crazy? You've never played a single arpg in your life, at least not till endgame.
yeah, I've tried poe and couldn't stomach playing it further after reaching act 2. I didn't have much fun at any point of my playtime
How many times are you going to repeat this in every single thread, despite everyone telling you that you're wrong
until I get an actual explanation why what I'm saying is not true, and not just
>you are le wrong
I tried online but it had lag so i went offline
Are we playing trade or ssf?
shitters roll with trade, normal people roll with ssf, this applies to all aRPG
Except arpgs that were literally designed around trade and would absolutely israelite you out of gear otherwise, like PoE.
In LE, CoF is objectively better t6han trading.
>Except arpgs that were literally designed around trade and would absolutely israelite you out of gear otherwise, like PoE.
Is there any news how PoE 2 will handle this?
I don't see why they would change that, since that is one of the bigger appeals for people playing it.
yeah hidden behind six micro transactions but that doesn't matter apparently because poe2 isn't d4
I think I've picked a boring build and I'm too lazy to reroll.
>steamgoys pay for always online early access turds with microtransactions
0 difference between gatchagays and you
It is not always online, all of the content except trading can be done offline. That being said, I really can't understand how companies keep fricking up servers at launch.
They needs to add cars to this game. After doing the entire monolith, some of these maps are way too big.
>so is there anything else to this genre than just pattering to normalgays?
>....
>it's just goyslop then and you should go back
>noo you are LE WRONG
go back
It's unbelievable how shit this game looks and feels. Torchlight 1 has better skill animations and effects
>It's unbelievable how shit this game looks and feels.
watch out you're gonna get plenty of (You)s from people who think that presentation doesn't matter in a game like Diablo (which on an unrelated note is a game with amazing presentation)
Looks don't matter.
The feel of the game does though.
a game looking like shit contributes to its "feel"
No. The game can look bad but still play well, see Diablo 3.
Then a game can look good and play like shit, see Wolcen.
If skill usage isn't satisfying or feels impactful, your arpg is shit.
there are still issues, but it is mostly playable now
If I enjoyed Grim Dawn will I enjoy this game?
Maybe, but honestly playing this, I just constantly think that I wish I was playing GD again and it was the new expansion that came out instead of LE.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of Grim Dawn so I may agree with you but I should play this first to find out
Interesting take. I better play LE to see if I agree or not
'poch is a better version of GD so yeah
Yes, it's even better than GD in some aspects.
For example, you have a skill that can be improved, and there are nodes that let you cast another skill (or 3rd party small skill, like Flame Nova). These skills can be improved by nodes ELSEWHERE, on your character or on your mastery (Flame Novae from all skills now become Frost Novae and have increased damage). Grim Dawn doesn't have that, only indirect improvement via Increased Z Damage Type +X%.
>brainlet goycattle arguing over goyslop:the genre
I literally can't breath
ahahahahaahahahahahaah
>Don't have to deal with tradeBlack folk
>Play to get the gear and not play to get currency
>Bosses aren't designed around alt-f4
>Have fun the whole game and not just at the end
PoE 2 needs to copy the first two things, it's shit that 70% of my playtime is chasing currency so that i can play what i want
just play ssf you absolute moron
unless you're one of those redditors who thinks the game is literally unplayable without mirror tier gear
>just give up on 70% of the gear in the game and spend 100x the time to get the other 30%
No, frick off, SSFBlack person.
>NOO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, I NEED MY MAGEBLOOD TO CLEAR RED MAPS
>moron instantly jumps to the most extreme example that 99% of trade doesn't even get
Yes you can clear the game with scuffed gear but this isn't fricking fun when the point of the game is to get the best gear.
SSF makes all your drops worthless. Even if you finally manage to somehow drop that super rare item, you have nothing to do with it.
It also considerably slows the grind of the game because now, instead of buying chromatics from someone, for example, you need to go around and pick up tri color socketed items for 20 hours.
>the point of the game is to get the best gear.
Who said that?
Anyone who plays ARPGs.
The endgoal is to get BiS gear for your build. Everything you do is in order to achieve that.
Stop projecting.
>The endgoal is to get BiS gear for your build.
Goal is whatever you want it to be.
>just be yourself, your reality is truth
Typical SSFBlack person.
>maybe if I just pretend to be moronic no one will argue any points
THats the point of the game for you. I personally find it fun to make the best progress I can using whatever I find along the way, using whatever scuffed skills I enjoy using. I can't think of anything more dull than buying all the shit you need and then making a build like following a recipe.
Go play a roguelike.
I'll play what I want pal, however I want
>says the gay that insisted people should play SSF in the very beginning
no I didn't
Sure POE has some shit systems. But I wtill only ever played it SSF, and I had 100's of hours fun making shit builds and getting nowhere with whatever I found until something that worked. You just don't get it , metagay.
>if you play trade you play meta
SSF braindamage.
relax kraut
Yes, you're literally playing the game wrong. You're looking some build someone else has worked out for you, buying best in slot and destroying everything. You didn't experience the journey, you didn't solve trhe puzzle, you justlooked up the solution. Like some c**t who takes a rubiks cube apart and puts it back together the right way, "look I made a good build!"
>you're wrong for playing the game as it was designed
>I'm special because I'm a contrarian
SSF cope is always so funny.
I don't use trade in LE because the game is actually well designed for solo play.
If you don't think trade and the things surrounding it have ruined PoE you are a colossal fricking moron
>Play to get the gear
Gear to do do what exactly?
What a moronic question
reminder
ARPGs are for normalgays exclusively, and they DO NOT belong on this website
so kindly frick off
Tell me that I can skip the campaign on new characters after finishing it, it's taking me forever to get through this slog.
You can skip major portions of it via dungeons.
Whenever there's that winged boot symbol on the map it allows you to skip shit.
It'll work fine for an hour and then shit the bed for an hour.
I got to chapter two and then I stopped having the ability to pick up any drops, they wouldn't even appear when you moused over it. I lost out on the starter idols due to it. Meh
you got filtered
I'm playing it, it was pretty funny
Straight skill issue
I get we're starved for new arpg's and this is something different to play for a while but its incredibly mediocre. I can't even get through the campaign before losing all interest to continue a character.
my build, working on a new one now
nice cheats gay
>negative 1.6 billion shekels
YOU ARE POOR
LOL
I don't get the point of doing this, you're just cheating yourself out of fun
>pesado
holy kino
I named my acolyte Menarche
Heheh
would have been 1000x more funny if with every kill the character got bigger and one kill would chain explode the whole mobs in the map resulting in a game crash
when deos the game gets fun
I kinda liked D3 and Torchlight, never played D4, and didn't enjoy PoE. Is this game for me?
yeah, sound about right, you can also check Wolcen
I think I'm the only person in the world who liked wolcen.
Yes, but also try Grim Dawn.
>werebear is unlocked as soon as you unlock druid
>but can't use it properly for several more levels because you gotta jump through a bunch of hoops just to make sure you can stay in werebear for more than 5 seconds duo to rage mechanic
this is ass, hope they rework this
I think the time travel gimmick is kind of neat. I definitely like the setting a lot more than Grim Dawn but it really just makes me hope that Titan Quest 2 is still happening.
>time travel gimmick
To my knowledge this gimmick only present in one dungeon where you swap time, otherwise I don't remember a single other instance where you can do that.
I just meant the general setting revolving around bouncing around between the 4-5 timelines. Gimmick was probably the wrong word to use.
Oh, yes, that's true
Gimmick is something you use, not type of decorations you see. Nobody call it "fantasy gimmick", "sci-fi gimmick", etc.
In this sense you use time travel gimmick in one dungeon and it's cool, sad that entire game wasn't built around it.
So far the instances I remember are
>going to a different time to get some device to activate a bridge
>going forward in time to get a crest to access some wizard college for a side quest
>going to a different time to get some device to activate a bridge
Fun fact, if you open map you can see that this device teleport you 50 meters away from main area to that tiny area.
Anyway, you clearly aren't done that dungeon yet, you would understand what I meant - you swap time with D key whenever you want this change area, monsters around and obstacles around you.
Ah, that sounds cool. Yeah I'm pretty early on.
??? You time travel constantly throughout the campaign and it's the basis for the entire endgame.
Here is how you have fun with this game. Since you need to gamble (read craft) to make rare items good, you need money and materials to reroll shit all the time.
moron
morons
moron
At that point just mod the items in and skip the middle man
im using mod to add more mobs, still pretty empty but adding more ruins my perfomance
I kinda wanna get the game but it's really ugly and brown and unappealing. Gameplay looks cool but damn bro if the aesthetics aren't at least halfway decent I don't wanna play that shit. Characters are so ugly and gay looking.
Any necro summoners here? Is this game worth getting if you only want to play a spooky skeleton summoner?
I would say it's serviceable. I haven't hade the same feel as I did in poe where you could have 50+ minions on screen at the same time. Maybe you could hit that number with the right combo of equipment in LE but haven't spent enough time with a necro build to confirm it.
From 1 to 10, how much fun are you having playing last epoch?
For me it's a solid 8, it's pretty fun tbh
7 but im in honeymoon phase, creating builds offline is pretty cool
I'd say about an 8 as well, and I'm a full two days into monoliths. I expected endgame to fall off harder, but I quite like it. Warlock is a lot of fun, and I expect trying new masteries will keep me interested for a couple months on and off in between other games.
Pretty much this
. Running Lich for the first time and am having enough fun to pull some all nighters over the weekends.
3/10, finishing last 90 monolith to see how "endless" monolith system look like, which I hope is unlocked right after
game is pretty boring, skill customization is nothing interesting, bosses are garbage, monolith are the same over and over again, dungeons are cool, arena isn't
>has at least 30-40 hours in the game
>3/10 and still planning to play more
why are you people like this
>30 hours to reach 90lvl monolith
What are you doing with you life so it would take you so long? It's 1 hour per monolith plus story few hours long and most important I play at x2 speed. So everything takes me half of normal time.
For a solo offline hack and slash it's ok for the price.
Solid 20 hours then onto the next game, i'll come back in a few months when online content exists
7. I don’t like the server issues
does aspect of the panther's "global damage" modifier affect minions
oh i just looked at the sabretooth node and that's the only one that makes it apply to a minion huh
what a shame.
>are the servers fixed yet?
Have been playing offline since launch, buddy got into it las night online, was getting 5-10-15min loads between zones, his characters armor wouldn't load so she was default looking the whole time, and the mobs in each zone wouldnt load ( they would be there but invisible ) meanwhile im offline with zero issues zoomin kek
What's more fun, runemaster or bladedancer? I played a few hours of mage in the beta but never touched rogue until now and it seems kind of slow
Bladedancer is very fun
Both but avoid shitty runemancer guides and learn to read the skills
>genre is called hack and slash
>people get mad if you hack the game to give yourself bis gear
i dont get it
If I start playing offline I can switch to online at a later dater correct?
Yeah but you'll have to start again as the characters aren't shared between modes.
By the time they fix the servers im going to be playing other games lmao
>just play offline
I got to chapter 3 and I dont fricking feel like doing the campaign again on some gimped offline character
>Burgers start logging on
>Servers goes to shit
Could you niggs just not use the Euro servers, thanks.
fricking immigrant trash
Åk hem Mohammed :^)
The endgame sucks just as much as it does in D4, what the frick? You just run monoliths like a homosexual and there's no big bosses or anything to work towards.
is this true?
no, you have the monolith bosses, shades of orybyss and dungeon bosses with t4 Julra being the hardest
Are bosses viable for pure summoner like necromancer or end game bosses are AOE b***h c**ts who destroy all your summons all the time?
>he doesn't use the undying build
ngmi
Worked fine enough until now where I can't connect at all.
see
It's been 5 fricking days already, FIX YOUR SERVERS
>Are the servers fixed yet?
Weren't you idiots complain about ONLINE games?
>always online games, blizzard : >:(
>always online games, other company : "come on I want it online" 😮
last epoch isn't always online thoughbeit
Last epoch literally and unironically has a fully offline mode that they released with 1.0 and they're even telling people that the best option right now is to just play fully offline.
Just because morons complain about not being able to play online, doesn't mean the game is always online, shitposter-kun.
Offline is actually objectively better in this game.
The skill tree in this shovelware trash is literally as bland and simple as D4.
I put hundreds of hours into Diablo 2 and 3 and I feel nothing but regret all these years later. How is this game different?
>Played a shit ton the last two days
>Can't get past the character screen today
the frick is this
