Exodus is weird, some parts of it are better than anything in 2033 by a mile, and other parts like the desert are just pure meh.
Same story for me. This happened like two weeks ago. My first attempt actually crashed when going down the ladder. Not a good first impression. I decided to give it another attempt but it just didn't grab me.

You make good points, OP. I hate that shit too. It's Western-influenced design through and through, where they have this pretense to waste your time with moronic, uninteresting story that the devs think is important, but the average player falls asleep because of them. This is why I never got through the starting section of Witcher 3, despite numerous attempts.
Unfortunately, to get to the moderately good part - or where the game opens up - you need to thrudge through the crappy cinematic tutorial. For this game, it's like an hour at most.

There is no omni present god that judges you. Your doing has impact on how your companions act, if you cause chaos in a hub by murdering innocent folk a companion may stay behind because of your actions. Bandits and other scum can be killed at hearts content, it scares me how many people can't see the difference between those that are killable and innocents.
