Legally what could SE do to force Takahashi to finish Xenogears for them or at least force him to tell them how to make it?

Bold of you to assume SE gives a single shit about Gears.

Within the past year one of their shareholders specifically told the president he'd like a Xenogears remaster.

    Why would they?

Because the Xeno series is back with Saga and Blade and no one else is calling out the monopoly on the franchise.

I think Takahashi would only agree on condition it's Nintendo exclusive.

Let Nintendo publish it like Super Mario RPG

Sell the IP rights to monolithsoft/nintendo is a legal option.

I think Takahashi would only agree on condition it's Nintendo exclusive.

That would frick it over since 1 99% of the fanbase couldn’t play it, and 2 it would lead to a monopoly

        >That would frick it over since 1 99% of the fanbase couldn’t play it, and 2 it would lead to a monopoly
What moron logic is this? Only a niche group of gamers actually give a shit about xenogears and even fewer actually ever played it. Also I don't see how making it nintendo exclusive is a major barrier to access it.

Square Enix doesn't give a shit about Xenogears. Monolith Soft is fully owned by Nintendo. Its time to move on.

Square doesn't have a bad relationship with Nintendo, it probably wouldn't be hard at all to get Takahashi involved in some way to actually finish the game if they ever remade it. I doubt Square gives a frick enough about Xenogears to do a remake though

Nintendo needs to stay out of it

Thats not really possible. Monolith Soft is fully incorporated into Nintendo at this point.

There shouldn't be a remake at all if they aren't going to fix disc 2 and if Takahashi isn't involved then everything besides the important parts of the disc will be pure fan fiction and I wouldn't want any of it

Nintendo OWNS monolithsoft. They will have to be involved at some capacity.

if so, what are you doing here?

Apparently Takahashi was keeping the door open for SE in a similar way to how he did with Namco for connecting Gears to his work like what happened to Saga.
They just took too long and now they’re going ahead.

Takahashi doesn't have to leave Nintendo or Monolith to do a little work on a Xenogears remake/remaster, similar to how Nomura didn't stop working at SE to do some stuff with Smash Bros.

He likely would since if they remade Gears it would be PS5 only and Nintendo doesn’t allow employees to work on competitors games.

I don't see any reason it would be a PS5 exclusive since none of their recent remakes or remasters are aside from VIIR.

Simple, monolithsoft will get the rights from Squeenix to make it for Switch, and Takahashi will finish it and tie it back to Xenoblade and Xenosaga, fulfilling decades of build up
And finally, Episode 6 can be made

This seems somewhat possible. Squeenix seems to be hemorrhaging cash and assets and if they're like most other major studios they'll need to take some measures to costs or maintain growth. Selling off a series dead for a quarter century could give them a boost for that year.

There’s this dude who runs a PlayStation centric social media page who also happens to be a massive Xenosaga fan, anytime it’s mentioned that Blade exists and is now tied to Saga he goes dark and pretends he didn’t hear that so he can continue to try to will a Saga PS5 remake into existence
He also lost his job as a surgeon over pausing surgery to partake in the console wars on Twitter.

Did Takahashi ever say what the complete idea was like? Poor guy will never be able to tell a complete story

      >Xenoblade Trilogy and its expansions.

Takahashi wouldn't even want to finish it. His planned story for Xenogears has already been remade and reworked so many times, Xenogears and its perfect works timeline are a mere draft at this point.
If you want to get a general idea of what the prequels to gears could have been like, play Xenosaga.
If you want a different take on Xenogears with the same themes, ideas, and concepts, presented differently and more subtly and in a less pretentious way, play the Xenoblade trilogy.
If you want a very rough idea of what sequels to Xenogears could have been like, play Xenoblade 3 specifically, and wait for what Monolithsoft is cooking up next.
If you care about Xeno, play all the games.
Either way, it's time to move on.
