Shit, I believe you. The small homing missiles were filtering me and I didn't understand where they came out until the second try. Since they come out the side I assume you can get close enough for them to never arc on you.

I was so excited when my co workers em were starting out on elden ring, a huge amount were surprisingly. I work icu as a nurse so there is a fairly large male 30 year old or young male techs looking to get to school who all go to icu. Was so fricking disappointed when one of the young kids started giving the quickest ways to level up aka mohgs area and dragon. I literally broke it down for the 30 year olds to not power game, xp will come natural, just focus on the fundamentals of spacing and roll and hit, work in spells for fun. One was amazed I beat the whole souls series just rolling and hitting including one of the young kids, I just didn’t want them to miss the meat of the game lower leveling, one guy admitted to me he was level 80 and couldn’t beat Margitt and I just said “yeah that’s because you never learned the fundamentals only leveled up and cheesed, just hit them when they aren’t hitting you it’s that simple”

That's why they think Souls is a super hard game and that once they read a 5 page guide summary on "stop mashing attack, roll first" they think they know everything about games including Souls when even that's just the surface on those shallow games. It's an AC game with the modern fromsoft tech and nicer animation/combat systems. It's the most fluid and tactile feeling AC game yet, and thus they've uped the anti and made the bosses and fights here the hardest in any AC game
It's basically Sekiro tier where if you're coming in from souls you need to put that shit aside, this isn't even close to the same genre or game style. You cannot play it like souls.
I loved that Sekiro actively punished me for souls habits aka mikiri counter instead of dodging thrust. Does this game do any of that or is it just strictly entirely new game with prior series mechanics but same developers

The controls are pretty stupid, soft lock is more accurate than hard lock but the game requires you to take your thumb off the right stick and hold a button to hover, meaning you can't aim while ascending. It feels terrible.

have you even played it? hardlock is literally gimping yourself, playing it like your usual AC makes it easier (once you unlock manual aim)
I've found the best way is to do a mix of both. Hard lock makes it easier to focus on dodging for bosses and you won't usually need to worry about hitting your target. MTs and other small targets are probably better off softlocking unless they're extra speedy.
