Legitimate discussion, do you think hitboxes are cheating? Is the ability to change directions with infinite speed unlike a stick or pad an unfair advantage, or does that ultimately not have much impact on gameplay?

We'll never know because nobody has won so much as a ft5 tranime set at Chuck-e-Cheese with one of these things. Literally zero results posted.
Aren't they banned from most tournaments?
That should tell you if people consider them cheating.
Not really. I think sticks are probably the most outdated method and if you want a controller and have no experience in the others, hitbox is probably the way to go because it does let you do some inputs a bit easier. But if you're already very comfortable with a stick or pad, just stick to those because it takes a ton of work to rework your muscle memory and I don't think it's worth it.
I never lost to a hitbox player and thought to myself "he only beat me because he's using hitbox". I lost in a lot of other ways during the match. There's more to fighting games than just being able to put your input in a bit faster.
Only early on. Most standard hitboxes will include a SOCD cleaner to prevent the biggest advantage of hitboxes, which is being able to hold back while moving forward since this makes charge characters and certain other moves an absolute menace.
Where do you even draw the line on this like this? There are people like Snake Eyez that get tournament results using old gamepads with converters that add input latency and most top fighting gamed players don't even use hitboxes in serious play anyway.
hitboxes should be mandatory in tournaments.
if you care so much about a level field, i don't see why inferior options should be allowed
For the longest time keyboards were considered trolling, an intentional self-handicap. Well you pop out a few keys and suddenly it's actually cheating. Gamepads can pull off some of the same tricks too, if you hold them funny enough. Maybe fightsticks were actually inferior all along and people let sunken cost get to them?
>Gamepads can pull off some of the same tricks too
No they can't,you can't press opposite directions at the same time on a dpad.
not all dpads are equal. joycons have 4 separate directional buttons
yes you can, you tard. We use the stick and d-pad at the same time
Stick and dpad, dipshit.
Safe to say that none of it matters at all in this day and age. Abuse any exploits and go above and beyond to obtain all unfair advantages against others so long as you skirt within the rules. Just take a look at professional ESPORT-SPORT-SPORTS in general over the years, not just fighting games.
>controller auto aim and aim assist
>screen watching
>collusion
>pot splitting
>no deodorant
and now in goy fighter 6 you have a built in turbo mode where you can press one button to receive combo and special inputs
>unlike a pad
Pad can do the same shit since hitbox does and more since it has two directional input methods.
Go and try and press left and right at the same time on your gamepad.
Left and right gives you neutral in whatever controller you are using, dumbfrick. If you are that clueless you should have a nice day before making another post.
My dad killed himself a few weeks ago. Thanks for reminding me.
Playstation dpads or atleast the PS2 3 and 4 looks like seperate buttons but really they are on one solid disc that works like a stick. Movement would be unbearable for circular inputs if they were individual buttons.
Trust your genes, anon. have a nice day.
Been thinking about it alot because of the guilt. Thanks anon.
Don't forget to do a backflip.
You literally can. You have an analog stick and a dpad.
Fair but that would be so pants on head moronic it would never be viable.
>He doesn't know
What game are people doing this in?
That's Armored Core. The Elevens go hard.
I use a hitbox and the only thing I like is ots super ergonomic like I can play all day and experience no pain or stress compared to controllers or sticks and where my hands feel fricked after an hour or so.
If hitboxes were cheating they'd be winning tournaments constant.
The only reason everyone isn't using a hotbox is because everyone has been used to stick for decades.
The rise of hitboxes/stickless is because regular sticks are an inferior product for shit like microdashes, negative edge/input buffers/OS/specific tech like Korean Backdash/etc, just like how sticks replaced pads when the latter proved to be not good enough for motion inputs and combo timing.
Personally I don't care. Although I have to say I find it fricking hilarious how completely unrelated people to the fgc are sticking their nose in the matter and even funnier are mistaking stick pads and hotbox.
Is it cheating playing on keyboard then? Because its the same thing than a hitbox
when will they mass produce those shitbox?
Stick gays bragged about their controllers for years while they thought they gave them the advantage so frick'em.
Nah, honestly controller usage seems pretty even in big tournaments nowadays between pad/stick/hitbox now that people have gotten used to it.
I don't see you morons b***hing about keyboards.
It's too bad these things are like 200 bucks and always out of stock. I wouldn't mind trying one.
>inb4 just build one
If it isn't compact, I don't want it
What's the advantage of this over just using a keyboard with custom keybinds?
