I think there are people who assume lego "sets" are all the same. hell I've seen people think assorted buckets are lego "sets" (are lego buckets still a thing?)
I was going to say this seems crazy expensive for such a small build but it lines up with the 10 cents per piece line they've had going for forever now
Think it helps that rather than being made out of a bunch of plates like Optimus, Bowser's full on brick
Some real classic shit going on here (even if he's using a lot of modern parts)
wait, so optimus runs on bionicle anatomy? I thought he had a bricklike exterior
and to be honest these "sculpture" type sets for adults tend to be more brick
If you pull up Optimus' parts list on bricklink you can see the vast majority of his parts are plates. Definitely some brickwork going into him, but to get that level of detail you need smaller parts.
Bowser doesn't need that kind of detail so they can get away with this. And you're right, a lot of sculpture sets tend to be more brick - they just make it look like it's not half of the time
they always get sold out where i live
also they're pumping out new sets left and right, if that isn't the sign of them selling well then i don't know what is
>mario lego sales never slump >nintendo decides to not renew the license with lego because they're nintendo >we never get minifigures
They already did, somehow the Mario mandate didn't touch these
I haven't owned LEGO in a long time but I really hate these. Are they well received? Why not just do Mario like the regular yellow guys?
Lego initially pitched normal style minifigs, and Nintendo blackballed it. A requirement of their collaboration deal was no minifigs ever, which is why we get stuff like the NES set and Question Mark Block. They don't want figures of their characters to be compatible with the normal minifigs because people could then mix and match parts of their licensed characters.
I loved lego as a kid, but I've refused to even buy lego anything until the release real mario sets and figures. Do any lego rumor autists know if thats in the plans?
Nothing on the horizon. People are begging, but it sounds like it's Lego themselves who are stubbornly on the weird direction they took Mario. Nintendo had been more than happy to just do normal minifigs and sets.
Actually made one myself a long time ago when I was a wee lad. The colors aren’t exact, but the right pieces obviously don’y exist for it to be so and I was working with what I already had.
Honestly, what Lego Zelda sets could they make? Most memorable locations from the games are too big in scale to be done satisfactorily, except for the Master Sword pedestal or a BOTW shrine or something.
>Lost Woods clearing >Zora Domain pool >fishing pond >one room of [insert dungeon here] >Hyrule Market
If you seriously can't think of small-scaled sets that could be done for a Zelda series, you didn't have enough Lego sets.
All sets as a whole have trended to more smaller pieces, instead of bigger unique ones. Easier to manufacture, and allows for more variety in making your own sets.
1999: Lego Star Wars paved the way for licenses
2011: Ninjago got introduced that started to swallow one original IP after the next over the years
2014: the Lego Movie premiered and resulted in normies getting into the hobby
2021: "Everyone is Awesome", the first set that's pure corporate homosexualry, is released
Licenses were a mistake. Lego stopped making their own stuff like Rock Raiders, Knights, Space, Arctic, and so on because why bother with unique ideas when you can just do licensed stuff.
Licenses were a mistake. Lego stopped making their own stuff like Rock Raiders, Knights, Space, Arctic, and so on because why bother with unique ideas when you can just do licensed stuff.
also 90's to 00's lego were moronic, left to their own devices they would have died. even bionicle was just a temporary save.
Bonkle saved them for the time back then and even with licenses their sales dwindled.
What actually brought them back was to tell all those idiotic experiments like Znap, Galidor, Explore and whatnot to go frick themselves, putting the brick back into focus as their core product, cutting back on the special pieces and moulds, restructuring their company where everyone could do whatever they liked into something with proper communication between the different departments (before that, if someone needed a certain new mould they just tooled it without any regards to budget and already existing inventory so they ended up with multiple chef-hats for example back then) and, well, just being fricking "LEGO" again.
Of course a lot of this has been thrown out of the window by now ever since the company started swimming in money again and prostitutes itself out to whoever has a lucrative IP.
And we're also back to the moronic experiments with the countless attempts at smartphone- and app-integration that almost never work plus a massive decline in plastic quality over the years.

oh I know, it's why I said bionicle was a temporary save since somehow they didn't do anything with the success they have gotten. still if it weren't for licensing and apparently Lego Movie they would have gone down the shitter.
All sets as a whole have trended to more smaller pieces, instead of bigger unique ones. Easier to manufacture, and allows for more variety in making your own sets.
I know, I just find it hilarious that the massive plastic walls and hills are now actual buildable sets

Explore was supposed to replace Duplo and introduce all those toy concepts that had absolutely nothing to do with Duplo or the Lego idea in general like blanket-animals, push-toys and toddler soundboards.
IIRC, when they actually sent market researchers into toy stores it turned out that even the "Explore" brand itself was generally disliked and people wondered where the memorable red Duplo bunny went.
They had absolutely no clue at the time and some toy store chain CEO even told them "Trust me, I know more about your product than you guys do".

yeah, considering the average has remained around 10c/piece for fricking ages now despite inflation, modern sets have a better value per piece.
there's definitely some egregious exceptions for licensed sets like with star wars, and IMO giant 2000pc sets that just sit on a shelf are lame, but you're not being ripped off

I would say I'm interested, but Lego is just too expensive to ever really justify. I guarantee this shit costs 200+. I'd rather put that money towards a new console.
Oh, surprise surprise. The set costs almost as much as a fricking switch.
I wish I could be isekai'd as Bowser. I think Nintendo's lawyers would somehow track me down and then sue me and the entire real Mushroom World for copyright infringement if that ever happened, though. Hell, the big reveal as to how it all happened would probably be that Nintendo wanted to locate a real Mario universe so they could shut it down. A living Mario would damage the brand, after all.
that legitimately looks like a great design
the shell is sexy and he's right to be proud of it.
>If you like tubes you're gonna like this set
Do modern Lego sets still have really weak plastiv?
I mean you got people here believing a drawn line to the uniform is broken plastic.
This is seriously sick but the price point is just uncalled for. That's most of a Switch alone.

Future Trunks had a short jacket so it couldn't be grabbed in battle. This homosexual has no excuse.

THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLERY DOOS
it's actually 270 bucks

Anon is talking Aus bucks, though its even worse, its 375 Aus dollars.
>270 dollars for a fricking lego set
you morons will buy it. they know.
like seriously I wish they continued what they did to Chima on making minifigs not look like samefaces
yeah? it's those specialty sets. hell this is even relatively low priced compared to others
Has anybody ever made a furry convention with all of the chima figures? I always thought that would be a really funny moc concept
That's nothing new. We've had massively expensive sets like the Star Destroyer, Death Star, Coliseum, and a bunch of others.
I think there are people who assume lego "sets" are all the same. hell I've seen people think assorted buckets are lego "sets" (are lego buckets still a thing?)
>he doesn’t know
Well, yeah. It's clearly worth the price based on what they showed. I
legos havent been for children in over a decade
these are for manchild whales to buy and put on display and resellers to horde up and sell to said manchild whales for double the price
Lego prices have become absolutely ridiculous. Especially licensed sets.
Im buying it the legoing set or whatever other chinese brand that will copy it
I was going to say this seems crazy expensive for such a small build but it lines up with the 10 cents per piece line they've had going for forever now
I want to grab it by the tail and swing it against a wall
I took a comparison in dimensions and while Bowser is only a smidge shorter than Optimus Prime he's way thicker.
Think it helps that rather than being made out of a bunch of plates like Optimus, Bowser's full on brick
Some real classic shit going on here (even if he's using a lot of modern parts)

how long until they released simpsons mini figs after the simpsons set?

why would you want soulless, funkopop tier same-looking shit?
No because they are always on sale. Mario line was a complete flop
they always get sold out where i live
also they're pumping out new sets left and right, if that isn't the sign of them selling well then i don't know what is
Just make a Mario with bricks so it looks good among all the enemy builds
Here's some instructions if you can't come up with a design
Probably around movie time
Lego initially pitched normal style minifigs, and Nintendo blackballed it. A requirement of their collaboration deal was no minifigs ever, which is why we get stuff like the NES set and Question Mark Block. They don't want figures of their characters to be compatible with the normal minifigs because people could then mix and match parts of their licensed characters.
Why is Nintendo so fricking autistic about their brands? Like this isn't even the first time they went full spastic about it.
>because people could then mix and match parts of their licensed characters
Well now I get it. That would be absolutely awful for Nintendo.
there was a flash game where you did mix up cut-apart sprites of mario, luigi, bowser, and toad?
How do you feel about K'nex?
I loved lego as a kid, but I've refused to even buy lego anything until the release real mario sets and figures. Do any lego rumor autists know if thats in the plans?
this, the ? block, and the NES set are the sculptor sets
Nothing on the horizon. People are begging, but it sounds like it's Lego themselves who are stubbornly on the weird direction they took Mario. Nintendo had been more than happy to just do normal minifigs and sets.
>not a single COOMSOOM wojak in sight
Which Nintendo series would be good for a traditional LEGO set? Zelda being the obvious one.
surprised there's no AC
>he doesn't know bless china
Pikmin, since Olimar and the Pikmin are almost 1-1 in size. You could go hog wild with the sets.
>Slave I-tier Hokotate Ship
I would nut.
Actually made one myself a long time ago when I was a wee lad. The colors aren’t exact, but the right pieces obviously don’y exist for it to be so and I was working with what I already had.
Hey that's actually really good, nice build
Thanks brother
breddy gud
Honestly, what Lego Zelda sets could they make? Most memorable locations from the games are too big in scale to be done satisfactorily, except for the Master Sword pedestal or a BOTW shrine or something.
someone made an IDEAS of the BotW stable
There are plenty of LEGO castles, just throw one together and call it Hyrule.
>Lost Woods clearing
>Zora Domain pool
>fishing pond
>one room of [insert dungeon here]
>Hyrule Market
If you seriously can't think of small-scaled sets that could be done for a Zelda series, you didn't have enough Lego sets.
Bigass Deku Tree.
F-Zero, especially if the machines are Tiny Turbo scale.
>Tiny Turbo F-Zero machines
>20+ different racers to collect
>Budget priced to be >$10
I would kill for Star Fox legos
Good lord Bowser has some nice curves.
yeah there never was an intention to make minifigs of them
imagine the semen
it's actually a bad idea, hard to wash off
He's lego, not a regular statue.
so leggo bowser
Death Egg robot when? Hell an entire lego series dedicated to Eggman would be great.
go ask lego and sega
Dear seega (and leego),
I mean do mario characters even translate well to minifig?
They're going to bundle the inevitable Mario Minifigure everybody wants in a $130 set, aren't they?
the thing is while there is no minifigure, they already used a bunch of various substitutes
so adorable!
>270 fricking bucks
>a Switch is about the same
and yet, hilariously enough, is cheaper compared to other sets within the same brick count
imagine if this was released in the 90s, it would have been CRAZY AS FRICK
now it's just moronic
I miss the old 80s and 90s Lego aesthetic.
https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/lion-knights-castle-10305
This is out soon
interesting that they made the walls actually buildable in the reimagining, explains the increased brick count
All sets as a whole have trended to more smaller pieces, instead of bigger unique ones. Easier to manufacture, and allows for more variety in making your own sets.

Price per part for 2007 is 11cents when adjusted to 2020 value, for the 2020 set its 16cents per part.
Lego has always been expensive. It's pretty low-tolerance, highly durable ABS plastic and a market they pretty much have a monopoly of.
