I played the first one and got bored that you had to slow walk everywhere or the Muslims would chase you.
Then a friend shilled the hell out of Black Flag a few years later and wanted me to play at his house. I just remember sneaking around bushes for like 5 minutes before getting bored again.

I've heard good things about 1 and 2, and Black Flag is probably the most polished "authentic" experience before they devolve into RPG elementslop. Plus I really liked the story sans the modern day stuff

        >"authentic" experience
It's authentic in a sense that it plays like an AC game but in the end It's a game about pirates more than a game about assassins.

    After AC2
AC1 and AC2 are the only games in the series that I played. I liked them. Ah, and also a couple of addons for AC2, but they sucked ass.
And then I saw the trailer for 3 about LE COOL NATIVE AMERICANS and I was like "lmao don't care" and that was it.

To this day the first two games are the only AC games for me, I don't know anything about the others.

played 2, brotherhood, revelations, and 3 back in the day and 3 was the last one
eventually realized it was the same game over and over and that game is pretty tedious so I stopped
even later I eventually realized that these games have so little going for them other than gud grafix and it's fun to kill people will the hidden blades. besides that it's "go here talk to this guy watch a shitty cutscene follow this guy and literally just walk and listen for 10 minutes" which is not fun at all. also the climbing was a pretty novel concept back in the day but then you eventually realize it's just "push the stick up and tilt it a little if you need to"
appeals to 12 year olds but once the novelty of AAA development wears off it wears off it's gone for good

I think the problem is you're going into AC looking for an intense stealth or action game when in actuality it's a collectathon. You can't hate AC unless you also hate Spyro/Banjo/Mario 64 etc. They're the same fricking genre whether people like to admit it or not.

      >Effortless combat
      >Lots of jumping around exploring areas to collect gizmos and whatsits
      >Super relaxing to play while you're watching TV

If you go into the games looking for something like Spyro instead of Metal Gear Solid you'll find them very enjoyable.

        Anonymous

I don't think spyro/mario/banjo are comparable to AC at all. those are sincere 3d platformers while AC games are action/adventure open world games. that's quite the false equivalence
I certainly wasn't looking for anything specific either I was young and wanted to play everything and anything. no expectations at all
I just don't like AC games and find them boring, it is what it is

    Here’s what they should’ve done
    >Make an Assassin’s Creed game set entirely in modern day to give a proper conclusion to the Desmond storyline
    >After that, they’re free to make any AC game they want that’s set entirely in historical settings with no modern day story in the background weighing it down
    >Also, don’t introduce magic bullshit. The pieces of Eden are meant to be ancient technology.

Once they ended Ezio/Desmond trilogy i was done. That´s the peak and even the ending of revelations suffers from, let´s say, questionable quality. That said i played 2 other AC games after that. Unity, because i wanted to play a musketeer like character during the french revolution and there are virtually no other videogames on which you can do so (also Elise was cute, sue me) and Odyssey because i wanted to see Roman armors and their take on the greek world.

Luckily for me the games have no narrative continuity after Ezio and the present day plot is mostly a mcguffin to get the ball rolling.

Replayed most of the series recently

    >AC1
Actually is prob my early game fav. The setting and tone is done well, the cities feel run down and the graphics hold up really really well. I played the directors cut version that added a bit more variety to the game, base game was very samey

    >AC2
very fun, love the different cities. The gameplay is faster and more fun, stealth takes a sad hit. All the historical tidbids are fun, venice is beautiful, ending is dumb. Also didnt like how time just jumps 5 years by sitting on a bench, like wtf

Brotherhood> Rome is cool, loved learning about all the locations and how well the map is laid out. Story is ok, 2 was better. Didnt play the multiplayer.

Revelations> City kinda sucks and the story is pretty dumb. only good parts are the altiar moments. Ottomans being the good guys and Byzantines bad is so stupid, should have been neutral to the conflict. The cave city was neat though

    >AC3
I really like american colonial history so that was fun for me. Playing as Haytham was 10/10 goat. Connor...ehhh...he has the best combat animations in the game. The game overall is OK. Not the best, not the worst. It gets stupid towards the end, the dramatic finale should have involved Haytham not some literal who. Like cmon its writing 101. The future stuff gets so stupid it almost kills the franchise.

    >4
Love the pirate shit. Love Edward. Does a lot right. Story is pretty solid. Ship combat is fun. The future stuff DRAGS the game down hard. Here, lets take a break from being a pirate and do computer puzzles.

Ac rogue> its okay, kinda a more bland version of 4. Could have been cool if it really explored the templars better. The river map makes no sense geographically.

    >Unity.
The best historical recreation of a city ever made, so amazing that they are using it to rebuild Notre Dame. Aside from walking around and really feeling you are in 1700s france, its pretty meh. It does have the most fluid parkour in the series

    I stopped here

It would have been III but Black Flag hooked me back in because pirates. I got Unity with my PS4 but that was such a disappointment that it was the last time I touched the series. Watch a summary of 1 and just go straight to 2. 2 is easily the best early series game. 1 is not bad as much as people say, it's just rough, where 2 hammers it all out and it's very good. Even 2's expanded games are good if you like the setting and story.

I'd say most people agree you should definitely play 2 and 4; 1 if you're interested. Any of the others I honestly don't even think are that great or fun or interesting but some of their settings might interest you to try.

I never cared in the fist place. I didn't care about the original. I watched a friend play 2 and didn't like it. I played 3 because I was bored and they gave it for free on ubisoft's platform and it was utter dogshit. I pirated black flag because it's allegedly the best one and it was a complete waste of time. I also played rogue and it was also shit but at least the ship gameplay was kind of fun. It had better ship gameplay than black flag. I've never even seen gameplay of unity, syndicate, origins, odyssey, valhalla or mirage.
