If you were there back in the day it was VC. VC was all anyone wanted because everyone was a Human/Elf Rogue, Hunter, Paladin or Warrior who salivated at the idea of having two Cruel Barbs (enchanted with Beastslaying/+2 Weapon Damage glows), Cape of the Brotherhood and the Defias leather set.
No homosexual nobody cared about a particular boss in SSC enough to define the entire experience of the raid around it, VC did that because all the other drops besides the meme ring that usually broke your group when a DPSgay stole it for the 2 agility and the Sneed axe that never dropped were purely forgettable
- Dire Maul was added later whereas Deadmines was available from launch
- if someone wanted to run Dire Maul they always specified which wing it was and/or Tribute run
