It depends on your weapon/playstyle. If you use all the tools you're given such as throwables and puppet chain fully upgraded then it's not too difficult. I beat the final final boss in about 6 attempts which is a lot less than it took me to beat Orphan.

I think the misunderstanding comes from the fact Romeo thought P could understand puppet language like all puppets do. Geppeto probably intentionally made it so P can't understand.
Romeo does like his friend, but in the grander scheme of things, he needs to stop Geppeto and alchemists. And P was getting in the way.

The same way you fight everything else in this game - Grind it until you memorise the nonsensical flailing attack animations. I would like to praise Lies for all of the stuff it does well but while currently playing through it all I can think about is how poorly the animations work with the player.
Yes having the final motion of an attack be unreactable and then adding a completely random delay during the windup that doesn't follow any kind of logic makes the game 'Harder', congratulations China you've solved the mystery, but that isn't the kind of difficulty I want to see out of this genre. I was thoroughly disappointed with the black jobber brotherhood. They look absolutely amazing and early trailers made it seem like they had a huge role in the game. In the end, it was just another stalker fight that can be cheesed.
The first trailer the game was in snow and Geppetto looked more like a good guy or the story was about P following his steps.
Trailer 2 and 3 is almost just like the released game, just with some weird enemy placement.

I saw a lot of anons complaining about Fuoco in NG+ and NG++ but I just facerolled him, I just used pizza cutter blade + auto parry handle, he has a lot of openings so I just spam R2 and when he tries to throw a tantrum I just use auto parry.
does he have different attacks? he was pretty easy on NG. Close the distance, stop letting him take pot shots at you. And either leave the pipes alive or carry debuff clearing amps to remove burn.

If players didn't involve themselves in the matter, who would've realistically won? Alchemists or Puppets? For alchemists, there can't be that many people with diseases left to "evolve" them into new recruits. Puppets could have kept printing themselves if P didn't stop the factory. So it seems puppets would have the numbers. But then again if early-level P could defeat Fuoco, Laxasia or even Victor could have easily taken out the factory.

Definitely agree. I was more interested in the puppet enemies myself. It was weird to me that they took the story of a puppet and relegated puppet based enemies to about 1/3rd of the game and sprinkled a few in elsewhere.

So I restarted after reaching chapter 6 because I told the truth thinking that was the better thing to do. The first boss, the clown, killed me more than any other boss this time. He killed me 4 times. I one shot the Scrapped Watchman and Fuoco, and the Archbishop took 3 attempts. For reference I took 3 hours to beat the Archbishop my first run. I was kind of scared this rerun was going to be torture but it's surprisingly not been too bad.
Was thinking of doing ng+ but don't think the levels are good enough to justify it. Sekiro had fun traversal. How long does a ng+ run take you once you know the game?
What the frick NG+ is a huge difficulty spike. I'm used to this being a fun victory lap outside of a few bosses in certain souls games (4 kings come to mind)
What is a STRchad supposed to do in NG+? The Ark suddenly feels pretty weak and Noblesse Oblige is SLOW
It is hyper armor but it starts immediately and last a tiny amount right after the animation ends. Think of it as another perfect parry but you eat the hit with 99% damage reduction. You lose guard regain unless you have the perks and impaling grabs will get you but it doesn't knock you away like with a normal parry so you can counter immediately with an Unga charged hit.
This is the first Soulslike to make me quit. I got to this boss and just gave up. I was not having fun at all. I beat every Souls game including Sekiro and Elden Ring, I beat Hollow Knight Path of Pain, I beat Nioh on a bunch of hard levels, etc.
I walked into this room and was just filled with revulsion. I was already deeply pissed off about a lot shit in this game, but this was the last straw. Either I do not understand how the game wants me to play it or it's just not my speed.

You got dodge, block and parry and you mainly need to be competent in the former two to succeed. It was just the psychological element of it I think. I went through so much bullshit and knowing I have to fight these guys again except all at once psychologically broke me. I'd spent this session going from Green Monster to this fight so maybe I was just losing it.
I actually found the first Black Rabbit encounter to be really easy. I summoned the spectre and then just whittled the Eldest down until he was almost dead, and then slapped him with like five thermites and it was over.

You can buy another pure physical dagger in Chapter 6 by finding a Hotel shop expansion, but the flame dagger is really good, try playing around with handle/blade combos.

First playthrough I think it's best to main one attack stat. I had 40 motivity and a mix of vit/capacity at that level. But if you're that far with your build you are probably fine for the rest of the game.
More bosses should have been like him IMO. At the bare minimum the Swamp Monster should have been a two-phase fight with only one health bar like Victor.

Check Geppetto's desk for a letter, play the completed piano tune if your humanity is high enough, get the golden lie, talk to the hotel NPCs for a bit of dialogue, and trade boss souls with whatever treasure collector you have
Game is straight up bad outside of its visuals. It tries to be like Souls/Sekrio in terms of combat but it is a cheap, uncanny imitation of fromsoft perfection. Bosses have insane hp pools, next to no cues and absurd damage while you barley dent them with attacks.
The parry mechanic is a farce. I've completed Sekrio up to NG + 4, Elden Ring to + 6 and this is a rip off you would expect from some inexperienced intern/a team of people that have only seen fromsoft games in videos. The timings are inconsistent mob to mob and there is terrible enemy hit boxes on attacks. Cues on attacks are poor and there is no difference between light or heavy attack windups. But unlike Sekiro, there no reward for parrying an enemy beyond getting off a glorified heavy attack ever 10-20 perfect parries which barely dents the boss's hp bar. If you miss a perfect parry your weapon durability gets destroyed (more on this later) and you take a large chunk of damage. You're forced to interact with this atrocious system.
Dodge is also implemented terribly. It's gimped from the start and standard features found in other games in the genre are locked behind skills, meaning until about act 4/5 (half way through the game) you're liable to get chain stunned and killed because you cant roll out of stagger/knockdown. Iframes on the dodge are pretty much nonexistent.
Weapons often break half way through a fight meaning you have to about with items to kill many bosses as their massive hp bars means you are often beating on them for about 5 to 10 mins. It's an absurd mechanic no one asked for. Why is it in the game? It adds nothing but another bar you have to watch and manage and awkwardly using the grindstone mid fight (you'll drink your reserve of quick use ones if you get stuck on a boss) unable to do anything between boss attacks (because they bounce off the boss and do no damage with low durability) for ages until you refill the bar.
The road sign with the tyrant dagger is fricking insane. It has a 30 percent crit rate and does not need ergo to enable spear mode like the ark sword. This is the best weapon in the game. And the crit boost fable art boosts to crits to almost 100 percent
Advance with a bit of Tech too got me through the game very well. It was only for the final final boss where I felt there was probably a better option than any Advance weapon I had.

I personally had a lot of fun with Motivity and the heaviest weapon possible in my NG+ after doing Advance in NG, go into the courtyard and just swing random weapons around

I don't know where I'd personally rank it yet as I'm just getting to archbishop in NG+ whereas most of the others I've put a lot more time into, but I definitely would put it pretty high on the list. It depends on your weapon/playstyle. If you use all the tools you're given such as throwables and puppet chain fully upgraded then it's not too difficult. I beat the final final boss in about 6 attempts which is a lot less than it took me to beat Orphan.

I saw a lot of anons complaining about Fuoco in NG+ and NG++ but I just facerolled him, I just used pizza cutter blade + auto parry handle, he has a lot of openings so I just spam R2 and when he tries to throw a tantrum I just use auto parry.
does he have different attacks? he was pretty easy on NG. Close the distance, stop letting him take pot shots at you. And either leave the pipes alive or carry debuff clearing amps to remove burn.

If players didn't involve themselves in the matter, who would've realistically won? Alchemists or Puppets? For alchemists, there can't be that many people with diseases left to "evolve" them into new recruits. Puppets could have kept printing themselves if P didn't stop the factory. So it seems puppets would have the numbers. But then again if early-level P could defeat Fuoco, Laxasia or even Victor could have easily taken out the factory.

I dont think its the nameless puppet that comes out of that box, Gepetto seems to have a magic box full of all kinds of bullshit considering how the NP wouldnt even nearly fit into that box in the first place, so theres room for more than just one thing.
Imho Gepetto does some magic with hand of god + P's heart, which results in a new puppet being created, P 2.0 with brown eyes instead of blue (like u can see in the bad ending cinematic), with Sophie/ergo voodoo not being involved, and thats the hand you see coming out of the box

So I restarted after reaching chapter 6 because I told the truth thinking that was the better thing to do. The first boss, the clown, killed me more than any other boss this time. He killed me 4 times. I one shot the Scrapped Watchman and Fuoco, and the Archbishop took 3 attempts. For reference I took 3 hours to beat the Archbishop my first run. I was kind of scared this rerun was going to be torture but it's surprisingly not been too bad.
Was thinking of doing ng+ but don't think the levels are good enough to justify it. Sekiro had fun traversal. How long does a ng+ run take you once you know the game?
Monsters are complete faceroll and you can ignore almost of them, bosses are the "heart" of NG+

What does it do? I thought it would be like hyper armor or something but I'm still getting staggered mid attack
It is hyper armor but it starts immediately and last a tiny amount right after the animation ends. Think of it as another perfect parry but you eat the hit with 99% damage reduction. You lose guard regain unless you have the perks and impaling grabs will get you but it doesn't knock you away like with a normal parry so you can counter immediately with an Unga charged hit.
This is the first Soulslike to make me quit. I got to this boss and just gave up. I was not having fun at all. I beat every Souls game including Sekiro and Elden Ring, I beat Hollow Knight Path of Pain, I beat Nioh on a bunch of hard levels, etc.
I walked into this room and was just filled with revulsion. I was already deeply pissed off about a lot shit in this game, but this was the last straw. Either I do not understand how the game wants me to play it or it's just not my speed.

I don't understand this; of all the Souls games I've played this game seemed the most balance in letting the player choose how they want to handle combat. You got dodge, block and parry and you mainly need to be competent in the former two to succeed. Most Soul-like pretty much shoe horn the player into one optimal way of facing combat scenarios you either parry to win or dodge to win with not much in-between.

It was just the psychological element of it I think. I went through so much bullshit and knowing I have to fight these guys again except all at once psychologically broke me. I'd spent this session going from Green Monster to this fight so maybe I was just losing it.
I actually found the first Black Rabbit encounter to be really easy. I summoned the spectre and then just whittled the Eldest down until he was almost dead, and then slapped him with like five thermites and it was over.
Thing is, I know I could beat these guys. I've done it before and as you all said its easier than the first time. I just realized I was not having fun and did not want to play anymore. I do not understand how the devs want me to play this. I've never felt this out of my depth in any game before, so i'm trusting myself that the game is poorly designed. I no longer wish to continue.

I kinda just backstabed the spear guy to death first since with his moveset he just asking for it, then chased down the little one and kinda traded hits with the rapier guy until he died. They really just let you 1v1 them if you kite them back a bit.
It's literally the easiest gank fight in any souls game ever. They literally walk menacingly towards you with only one person that can run signified by their weapon buff. AND YOU Literally have a grappling hook to separate them!

You can buy another pure physical dagger in Chapter 6 by finding a Hotel shop expansion, but the flame dagger is really good, try playing around with handle/blade combos.
Stick the starting greatsword on that handle and you get the most fun weapon in the game, also looks sick, only downside is the scaling

First playthrough I think it's best to main one attack stat. I had 40 motivity and a mix of vit/capacity at that level. But if you're that far with your build you are probably fine for the rest of the game.

Game is straight up bad outside of its visuals. It tries to be like Souls/Sekrio in terms of combat but it is a cheap, uncanny imitation of fromsoft perfection. Bosses have insane hp pools, next to no cues and absurd damage while you barley dent them with attacks.
The parry mechanic is a farce. I've completed Sekrio up to NG + 4, Elden Ring to + 6 and this is a rip off you would expect from some inexperienced intern/a team of people that have only seen fromsoft games in videos. The timings are inconsistent mob to mob and there is terrible enemy hit boxes on attacks. Cues on attacks are poor and there is no difference between light or heavy attack windups. But unlike Sekiro, there no reward for parrying an enemy beyond getting off a glorified heavy attack ever 10-20 perfect parries which barely dents the boss's hp bar. If you miss a perfect parry your weapon durability gets destroyed (more on this later) and you take a large chunk of damage. You're forced to interact with this atrocious system.
Dodge is also implemented terribly. It's gimped from the start and standard features found in other games in the genre are locked behind skills, meaning until about act 4/5 (half way through the game) you're liable to get chain stunned and killed because you cant roll out of stagger/knockdown. Iframes on the dodge are pretty much nonexistent.
Weapons often break half way through a fight meaning you have to about with items to kill many bosses as their massive hp bars means you are often beating on them for about 5 to 10 mins. It's an absurd mechanic no one asked for. Why is it in the game? It adds nothing but another bar you have to watch and manage and awkwardly using the grindstone mid fight (you'll drink your reserve of quick use ones if you get stuck on a boss) unable to do anything between boss attacks (because they bounce off the boss and do no damage with low durability) for ages until you refill the bar.

The road sign with the tyrant dagger is fricking insane. It has a 30 percent crit rate and does not need ergo to enable spear mode like the ark sword. This is the best weapon in the game. And the crit boost fable art boosts to crits to almost 100 percent

Advance with a bit of Tech too got me through the game very well. It was only for the final final boss where I felt there was probably a better option than any Advance weapon I had.
coil dagger or coil spear both do great against him
Coil is a slash weapon and those are both stab hilts.
it doesn't matter, damage is still great and is going to outperform any other advance weapon
really depends on what you like, there are good weapons for every playstyle
I personally had a lot of fun with Motivity and the heaviest weapon possible in my NG+ after doing Advance in NG, go into the courtyard and just swing random weapons around

I don't know where I'd personally rank it yet as I'm just getting to archbishop in NG+ whereas most of the others I've put a lot more time into, but I definitely would put it pretty high on the list. Some notable improvements from the standard souls formula (in my opinion of course):

>guard regain feels like a more well thought out version of BB's lost HP recovery mechanic
>P-organ and Legion arm upgrades are a nice addition to standard leveling and weapon upgrading, gives you more control over your playstyle

>good side quest design, as opposed to random actions having completely unpredictable effects on the world or other NPCs (also markers in the warp is a plus)
>stagger/riposte not being strictly tied to parrying

It was EXTREMELY linear. It was the same routine of shoot at worthless mobs for 2 minutes and then circle around a boss holding R2 with my gatling guns until it dies, repeat until final boss.

It's sparse early but you start to get more later on. There's not much to explore level wise so you shouldn't be missing too many items as long as you thoroughly explore what's available.
