Some people like them, but I prefer the DMC-style of fighting, where you feel way cooler and move much faster. Running past enemies to get back to where you were feels cowardly and lame.
Heard there was a separate upgrade tree from the souls-levelup shit. Is there a boost to how fast Pinocchio gets up from the ground, recovers from getting hit, or improves the dodge?
Don't think so, you need to stop hugging enemies.
Also red attacks ignore iframes and can only be perfect parried or run out of range of the boss when one starts.
>Press A to pick up
here's one tiny nitpick I don't think needs to be in every souls game, especially since there's never any animation for picking stuff up.
There is, your character moves his hand forward like picking up something from a table.
Most players skip it by sprinting or rolling.

Right, I meant an animation that's not purely cosmetic. There's never a tactical decision whether to pick something up mid fight (not that you could immediately an item unless you're a god at menu management or you happen to already have that exact item in your equipped pouch).
Maybe I'm spoiled by playing super polished games with a million QoL features like Forbidden West.
Hear me out here, what if Souls... but in a world that's actually doing just fine, and nobody's crazy? One that's still in the "Golden Age". Also with a less trdious respawn system
This is what I had wished Elden Ring would be. Miyazaki needs to let go of his isolation motif bullshit. It’s fun once in a while, but at a certain point, the deadness is almost absurd.
I played the demo for about 7 hours and it's pretty good. I don't know how much variety of weapons there will be but you can break any blade apart from any handle and mix and match. It actually makes owning multiple if the same weapon set valuable. The thing I'm worried about is there won't be enough weapons to make this worth while to experiment with.
The main complaint I had with sekiro is that there's one primary weapon and a few choices for limited use tools. Already it's doing better than sekiro in that regard. However, unlike sekiro, there was absolutely no cinematics or scripted events in the game to watch and appreciate the world that this is taking place in. There was a lack of exposition about the demo's last boss, the broken constable, save for two item descriptions that they hand you unceremoniously. It felt like they could've communicated the concept that he was a mistunderstood hero a little better than saying "HE DIED KEEPING THE CHILDREN FOREVER IN HIS HEART. MOVING ON NOW."
>an entire genre called 'soulslike' spawned from dark souls yet From are the only ones capable of making a game in the genre that doesn't suck
I must say Lies of P looks the most promising but I fear it'll suffer the same problem every 'soulslike' ends up with; the realization you're playing a worse version of a From game.
The appeal from souls games lies just as much in their atmosphere as their combat. Honestly for some their atmosphere might be more important. This game looks like it has shit combat and a gimmick atmosphere, as all these clones do. DUUUUHHH LOVECRAFT COOL AND THEN PINNOCHIO. If you like this game I really think there’s something wrong with you.
how very original
>green monster of the swap
kek
'Swamp Thing' was taken
WHAT
ARE YE DOIN
IN MA SWAMP
>souls-clown
>fair-use IP
its got soul (good)
but its also souls (bad)
Souls game are fantastic in terms of gameplay.

Then don't run past them.
>pee organ
>green monster of the swamp
How did this name get a pass??
This game is so fricking derivative. I mean all souls clones are but this is just ridiculous.
Heard there was a separate upgrade tree from the souls-levelup shit. Is there a boost to how fast Pinocchio gets up from the ground, recovers from getting hit, or improves the dodge?
Yes, there's an upgreade that allows you to do another dodge in the middle of the first dodge.
Does the double-dodge improve the i-frames? Current dodge seems to struggle with some attacks or just sticks to enemies.
Don't think so, you need to stop hugging enemies.
Also red attacks ignore iframes and can only be perfect parried or run out of range of the boss when one starts.
This looks like Bloodborne. How come no one else can make a souls like without making it nearly identical to Fromsoft games ? Try something original
Looks like BB, but plays like Sekiro.
way too slow for sekiro
It's the start of the game, duh.
Some enemies have near-instant counters if they parry you as well.

The animations look so fricking stiff and unnatural. I dont get how these devs are inspired by souls but they cant nail the most important aspects.

>combat of elden ring and everything else of morrowind
poggers
That could be neat

The final boss is going to be a giant eldritch whale, is it?

Well, Sekiro had 1 weapon and people liked it.

The journals you pick up have more than one page.
> green monster of the swamp
creative writing is my passion
last boss will be called 'the evil one'
Ah yes, because names like "The Penetrator", "Ceaseless Discharge" and "Living Failures" are the pinnacle of creativity.
> The Penetrator
'Red Blade Swordsman'
> Ceaseless Dischange
'Molten Tentacle Giant'
> Living Failures
'Blue Aliens'
This is one of the most uninspired games I've ever seen.
koreans are fricking shameless

For me it's the characters. These lower budget souls games don't have the budget for modelling or voice acting a bunch of dudes. usually.
>STOP LIKING THE THINGS I DON'T LIKE!!!
bloodbros..?
Frick all you dumb Black folk in this thread. Play the demo, it actually is pretty damn good.
Oh wait you are just wanting to shitpost
> Green Monster of the Swamp
Is this a joke?
The name is on the level of Korean Isekai worldbuilding. Just total creative bankruptcy.
