Yet with that said, I don't actually have a lost if ganes to play when I upgrade to the current gen. There's no single game I could name if I ordered a Series X now and someone asked "what what gane do you want?"
This is also my first time realising this is true for Lords of the Fallen.
I think it has something to do with games being built for console and then ported over. something about how current gen consoles handle things like memory and shaders is not being translated well to PC, and devs are putting no actual time into figuring that out. so many of these games have had no much performance issues that I couldn't even bring myself to try to enjoy them for more than an hour or so before refunding
Elden ring aged like milk, at first it tickled your childish fantasies, but then it got repetive open world slog fast with no replay-ability and worst PvP / Invasion system. DarkSouls 2 is where FromSoft games peaked.
Some of this is neat. I don't remember undreezing a frozen land. I fondly remember the pirate section because spooky pirates is my bag. This half makes me want to replay it. I've never done that before though, because 2 was shit. Like 30% of the game I really good. The rest is like the final hours of DS1.

Is Watchman one of the harder bosses in the game? I struggled badly with him, took me like 25 tries, and after that the following 3-4 bosses only took me 2-3 tries.
No. He's the last fight before summons right? No idea why he took you so many tries but I'd imagine you'll be stuck with Swamp Monster for a week if you couldn't handle scrap boy
yeah, I think on first playthrough he took me longer than most later bosses. I'm shortly before laxasia on second playthrough now and the only need more than ~3 tries for swamp monster, so it's likely just a matter of getting used to the game
Lords of the Fallen has the better level design and it's not even close. Lies of P has zero exploration, it's all linear hallways. Also Lords has better bosses that don't always rely on delayed attacks, don't have hyperarmor and and Lords at least has some poise where Lies with every hit you take you get staggered and it's very easy to get stunlocked to death.
Lords does not have better bosses than LoP that is just an absurd statement. Bosses are the best part of LoP and the worst of Lords.
Lords does have a much larger and interesting world, level design, and exploration. However the umbral lamp mechanics actively work against making exploring in Lords enjoyable. Having to pull out the lamp and go through a long ass animation to interact with stuff like moving platforms regularly is terrible flow design. So what you end up with is better level design that is annoying to explore rather than as rewarding as it should be.
Lords also has the ds2 problem of shitty inefffective enemies copy pasted into large swarms to compensate. Here again the umbral acts as a detriment. Also the frequency with which Lords turns former "bosses" into regular enemies is actually absurd. The majority of bosses are capra demons. At least ER hid stuff like this in the caves.
Ultimately what it comes down to is P made all the right decisions mechanically and executed those decisions with a higher level of polish and care. Lords is a more ambitious game in scope but has worse thought out mechanics and a lower level of polish.

LOTF bosses are a fricking abomination compared to Lies of P. LOTF boss design peaks on Pieta and goes down the shitter the longer you play the fricking game. Adyr's ""fight"" was so terrible i will forever remember it as the worst fricking final boss fight of all soulslikes, it's like an inferior deacons of the dead with Adyr infodumping on background, like holy shit why would you do this?
Lies of P gets cookie points for basically being PCborne-lite to fill up that seething vacuum.
Overall, Lies of P is just slightly superior but after the kino first half of the game, the second half becomes a fricking slog to get through. The (elite)mobs are so damn bad and most bosses need you to rely on perfect parrying(which sucks compared to Sekiro) or just lightweight dodging around to attack the buttflaps.
Waiting out a fully charged attack on a stagger sucks as well if the enemy is zipping around.
Only the fable arts and legions make up for the combat which is otherwise quite boring.
The game is gorgeous but the level design is nothing but corridors with the occasional side room.

Enemy design is like a night and day. I'm pretty sure those giant puppet soldiers at the exhibition have more unique moves and patterns than all lotf bosses i've seen thus far.
Even in terms of exploration which seems to be the main draw for lotf they are honestly not that different. I'm up to the burning city and thus far the entire world progression has been a straight line except for one miniboss who just loops to a completely useless "shortcut".

nah that horse boss for the first beacon is pretty good. the biggest problem with him is the devs chickened out and let you beat him by just dodgeing/parrying and waiting for his human form instead of making it requirement to use the umbral feature or parry. I would guess no gamers sub 100iq even used the umbral parasite feature of the boss against the boss and just played it like dark souls because its easy enough to do.

you dont need to use the lamp. just die once and you go in umbral, then you can attack them. when they die they explode and do damage to the boss and if the guy is on the horse nearby it knocks him off.

completely different philosophies and goals, and aesthetics.
LoP was meant as a first soulslike project for the team to learn how to make them. So no multiplayer, linear structure, game isn't too big, weapons are hand-crafted and few, movesets are more limited than in, say, ER.
LotF was more ambitious with multiplayer (you can see how it turned out), big levels and greater focus on exploration.
I don't see a point in direct comparison, they aimed for different goals and will resonate with people who enjoy different elements of souls formula.
I prefer LoP, but hope they improve exploration aspect in the future. Their level structures are great, but game is completely linear
Lies of P is an extremely competently made game with a huge moveset variety and well designed enemies and bosses. Its only weak spot is argualy exploration because it's fairly linear, but it actually has several standout levels regardless, like the factory which is a huge multi leveled area with a mazelike structure.
LOTF is an amateur project with the scope far beyond the comprehension of the dev team, which results in nearly all its aspects side from world design to be a complete shit.

Lords of the fallen bosses are more like dark souls 1 difficulty, and the levels are dark souls 2 levels of hard, you need tactics to get through them you cant get spam roll and R1 to kill everything unless you want a stressful time. The animations and sound design arent great, but its pretty good compared to most soulslikes
So people that want hard bosses that take 20+ tries and easy levels prefer Lies of P and people who want easier bosses that only take 2-3 tries and a big interconnected world that is hard to traverse through like lords.
As far as customization of armors and weapons goes lords is probably the best at that, with one caveat being it does not have diverse weapon animations. You can get any armor from pretty much any enemy and recolour them. And weapons have 2-3 sockets where you can put runes that add special effects or change scaling.

Lies of P had a handle/blade system which not only dictated the moveset changes but also the speed changes of already unique movesets as well as the fable art selection. It's miles ahead of LOTF's single moveset per class approach.

the game goes between puppet/carcass sections. there's still a frickload of puppets to be seen after you reach the first carcass stages. no idea what you're even talking about though

LOTF is not a bad game at all.
It has a fun gimmick, the graphics are pretty good, some bosses (some) are really fun, the OST is nice and the online system, when it works, is pretty well made and fun.

Umbral is literally the most unfun gimmick i've seen in the entire subgenre
Partially because the lamp animation is slow as shit. Partially because umbral itself spams infinite enemies at you. Partially because the game barely manages to utilize it well beyond just letting you traverse another swamp. It's shit.
And beyond umbral there's literally nothing. Movesets are all the same. Magic is dull beyond two soul greatsword copycats. Enemy design is garbage.

nah that horse boss for the first beacon is pretty good. the biggest problem with him is the devs chickened out and let you beat him by just dodgeing/parrying and waiting for his human form instead of making it requirement to use the umbral feature or parry. I would guess no gamers sub 100iq even used the umbral parasite feature of the boss against the boss and just played it like dark souls because its easy enough to do.

you dont need to use the lamp. just die once and you go in umbral, then you can attack them. when they die they explode and do damage to the boss and if the guy is on the horse nearby it knocks him off.

Horse phase is just an excuse for parrying or using an umbral gimmick shit to throw him off instead of a real part of the battle unlike horse-riding Souls bosses and Lu Bu where horse phase is its own active phase of a boss with its own quirks and gimmicks.

completely different philosophies and goals, and aesthetics.
LoP was meant as a first soulslike project for the team to learn how to make them. So no multiplayer, linear structure, game isn't too big, weapons are hand-crafted and few, movesets are more limited than in, say, ER.
LotF was more ambitious with multiplayer (you can see how it turned out), big levels and greater focus on exploration.
I don't see a point in direct comparison, they aimed for different goals and will resonate with people who enjoy different elements of souls formula.
I prefer LoP, but hope they improve exploration aspect in the future. Their level structures are great, but game is completely linear
Lies of P is an extremely competently made game with a huge moveset variety and well designed enemies and bosses. Its only weak spot is argualy exploration because it's fairly linear, but it actually has several standout levels regardless, like the factory which is a huge multi leveled area with a mazelike structure.
LOTF is an amateur project with the scope far beyond the comprehension of the dev team, which results in nearly all its aspects side from world design to be a complete shit.

Lies of P has super hard trial and error bosses in linear world/level design. Its well done.
Lords of the fallen bosses are more like dark souls 1 difficulty, and the levels are dark souls 2 levels of hard, you need tactics to get through them you cant get spam roll and R1 to kill everything unless you want a stressful time. The animations and sound design arent great, but its pretty good compared to most soulslikes
So people that want hard bosses that take 20+ tries and easy levels prefer Lies of P and people who want easier bosses that only take 2-3 tries and a big interconnected world that is hard to traverse through like lords.
As far as customization of armors and weapons goes lords is probably the best at that, with one caveat being it does not have diverse weapon animations. You can get any armor from pretty much any enemy and recolour them. And weapons have 2-3 sockets where you can put runes that add special effects or change scaling.

Lies of P had a handle/blade system which not only dictated the moveset changes but also the speed changes of already unique movesets as well as the fable art selection. It's miles ahead of LOTF's single moveset per class approach.
