This. As much respect as I have for them sticking to NMS and improving it, it's still an absolute boring slog to get through, and once you've seen 8 or 9 planets, you've seen the other 100,000 of them.
Yeah I think itd be neat to take all they learned developing and fixing NMS and make a more handcrafted game, looking forward to it.
NMS is entertaining for a few hours but as you say, you need a special kind of autism to keep going after that.
Try your old char/save for a bit. One thing I didn't like is at first it felt likes a slog to make real money or get cool tech or anywhere interesting but that was just me. But after like a month of play I got my Freighter, Fleet of Frigates, Multiple bases and 600mil+ in the bank and still finding little interesting cool things.
>whats the matter, not enough CGI for ya?
What? The problem is that it looks too much like CGI you dumbfrick. It looks cheap and nasty like all the cartoons poos shit out.
yeah but what the frick is the game
they showed people flying on mounts and climbing hills and meeting bunny people
but what the frick is the actual game
looks as mechanically shallow and dead as nms. the promises of a procgen earth sized game world just sound like a guarantee of sameyness only covered up by bright colors and fricked up fauna. but who knows maybe they'll make something compelling. skyrim managed to be compelling despite having the mechanical depth of hungry hippos with all the same enemy variation, maybe this will too. or it might be a good with friends game at the very least.
Not sure how you can make that assumption based on a single in-game trailer. no menus, etc. this is a way more interesting premise than loading carbon into my exosuit because theres bad weather on a freak nuclear planet. I definitely think this game looks way cozier, I want to play with friends and build shit / explore
I'm not saying thats how it definitely is, it just looks like it plays comparably to NMS. The same engine at the absolute minimum with obvious a similar design philosophy. The rest is extrapolating what I personally think is likely. I'll be happy if they make something a little deeper and more engaging than NMS but based on this small amount of video, I am in the "interested but suspicious" camp
I think if they take the lessons theyve learned from NMS (and theyve been tinkering with systems non stop with all the updates), and untie themselves from having to build on top of a thing that already exists (which is what this is), there's a reasonably good chance they can deliver something that delivers. Very curious to learn more about the non-exploration/building aspects of the game for sure. Seems like a reasonable variance of weapon types just from that little trailer alone.
>this is a way more interesting premise than loading carbon into my exosuit because theres bad weather on a freak nuclear planet
Instead you get to load weather resist potions into your armour because there's bad weather in the mountains.
What is it with all those fantasy open world Games that devoid of story and characters, and basically are the wood cutting and mining simulators?
They are promoted as some next gen adventure rpg games, but every time I checked them out on twitch, it's streamer autistically piling up the resources to then build some shitty wooden hut and quit the game.
Seems like the waste of time and resources.
>autistically piling up the resources to then build some shitty wooden hut and quit the game.
these games are made for autism, anon. theyre incredible.
Oh shit
A multiplayer survival game which won't look like in the trailer because I don't have friends autistic enough to build bases long terms and random people will kill me on sight because it is more optimal way to play the game shhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet nigguh looks like trash is back on the menu
its ok anon just be my friend, i rebuilt windhelm as faithfully as possible on a mountain in my friends valheim multiplayer server for all of us to base out of. ill do the same in this game and you can have a house in the grey quarter 🙂
I hope it's more RPG-ish with spells, classes, stats, and shit. NMS already has good itemization so enchantments and equipment will probably be alright, but the lack of combat footage is worrying.
>2013, NMA announced. I have never and will never again be as excited for a game >2016, NMS releases and breaks my heart so entirely I am incapable of game hype anymore. >years of updates >I don't give a frick about any of them. the game is still about shooting red rocks to power you to shoot blue rocks to go somewhere to shoot red rocks >I still hate NMS
>2023, Sean Murray shows his lying face on stage again >"oh frick here we go again" > >it actually looks cool >is entirely real gameplay showing features from NMS
FRICK YOU FRICK YOU AAAAAH FRICKING c**t homosexual SEAN I HATE YOU SO MUCH
but I'll probably play this still
kill me
No idea but a cozy game like this looks kino, anon. Just glad they're not tripling down on NMS and have already been building this on the side for five years.
I've seen what Hello Games did with No Man's Sky, so I have no reason to believe that anything in the trailer is not real. The fact that they settled for a single diverse planet makes me feel like they understand what they did wrong in the past (or at least a few of the things they did wrong). But I'm just intrigued, not excited, since I don't even know what the gameplay is like.
>The fact that they settled for a single diverse planet makes me feel like they understand what they did wrong in the past
The fact that they STILL have the same fricking 5 planet types in NMS tells me they don't.
It's quite literally just reskinned NMS. Maybe you haven't seen the current state of the game?
Animals Races, Flying Beast Mounts, Multiplayer base building and "survival" all that is currently in NMS.
this they got to beta test on NMS for 10 years and have been working on this for 5. they get a fresh slate without carrying the corpse of NMS another 500 miles.
Almost nobody here supports this game, calling them ugly doesn't change the fact that you blinded your own mother upon birth from the hideous abomination you are, stop projecting, go flop on a Discord and jerk off there
No it doesnt?? By what fricking metric
Its just Nms copy pasted with 2018 graphics?
Why would you trust a trailer? from those Black folk of all people?
It does by the metric of you crying that comments on videos are actually positive (kek you read comments). I'd trust a trailer because all of this is literally in line with everything in No Man's Sky from a systems they've build standpoint. If it was just going to be a NMS copy paste theyd just keep building on top of NMS. Overall one of the only exciting games probably in the next few years.
Someone eventually needs to perfect the survival-build-craft...
I seriously doubt it'll be this one, but that is something that is due to happen in the next decade or two.
I just realized the top one swimming, is that a damn Otter person? Sean if you see this, as a long time lover of the Redwall books since I was in 3rd grade; you better not frick this up, I'm begging you.
somehow i get the sense that this won't be good. it looks like they saw valheim and tried to copy it, but i don't think you can make a game like valheim unless you are a lazy welfare state citizen
what i mean is that american game development is just hard focused on just delivering a product in tunnel vision mode. i think american devs are usually too stressed out to really stop and think about the subtleties of game design. on the other hand the valheim devs live in a welfare state and thus have an easier time slowly working things out and testing cute little new mechanics. valheim is full of cozy mechanics that define the game more so than anything else does, like the way food & rest mechanics work to support light roleplay and how the game forces you to occasionally go on long boating trips and breathe in the atmosphere. they even added volumetric smoke physics for no real reason other than to make building houses feel more cozy. i don't think you'll see anything like that in this game, i think it'll just be a lot of spectacle and theatrics but no actual substance or reason to draw you in
theyve been working on their engine for like 10 years at this point. I think theyve been very focused on their product and will be cutting a frick ton of technical debt and spaghetti code off with this fresh start vs. dragging NMS uphill the entire time. Looking forward to learning more
it's not that they don't care about the product, it's that usually american game development models itself off of big tech, and big tech only cares about "metrics" and "performance". but you can't really put a metric on a game inexplicably drawing you in despite generally looking and playing like shit, like valheim does. and it's hard for devs to justify spending time on these possibly-pointless prototyping endeavors that the valheim team was undoubtedly defined by, because everyone is trying to hit deadlines in order to not become homeless.
to this day i think NMS is an unfun mess full of pointless mechanics that don't really do anything for the vast majority of people. it feels like most of the game came from a spreadsheet and was only tested for bugs, not the actual enjoyment or congruence with the rest of the game. that's my take on it at least
>i think it'll just be a lot of spectacle and theatrics but no actual substance or reason to draw you in
It seems like a lot of games just have a set of game mechanics and the world, lore, story, characters, and all those things in it are just overlooked. Like nobody cares to create a world that people want to get to know anymore. The world is just a background to the "mechanics" and a afterthought while all the focus lies in "do the same thing over and over and get a better item or stat".
This looks fricking EXACTLY like No Man's Sky, right down to copied water plants. At least it seems to be a bit more biome variety. I expect a complete jankfest.
>Build a remote settlement with your friends >Wall it off from furries and unclean races, aggressively defending your borders >As your numbers increase begin expanding into surrounding territories >Hello Games releases a free patch that lets furry characters exodus to a new world where they can start from scratch >Empire just colonizes those worlds too
This is going to be the best game ever
As long as they bring it to GOG as well (letting me play offline in singleplayer) then I'll be happy.
Everything in the trailer looks genuine, you can tell it's got a lot of the same NMS DNA with how the lighting, models, and animations look.
I just hope they do have some more game-play that isn't just hitting a bunch of rocks like NMS basically was (even though I still love that game).
You guys don't understand how cool this game is, DID YOU NOT HEAR WHAT SEAN SAID
It will use OUR REAL WORLD'S GEOGRAPHY
You will be able to visit your shitty hometown in a fantasy setting
And I think every time you create a new world, it creates a new fantasy version of it
It sounds bretty based if you ask me
>starting area is based on geo IP
Might be cool I guess, gonna suck for people who live on islands like me though >mfw going to fantasy isekai version of city and it's still full of methheads and bums
>playable furries
And just like that it'll sell like hotcakes. If you give the furries a game where they can customise a character to their liking in this sort of setting they'll make sure to come along and pour money into it.
What a stupid name
but enough about you
no man's sky was also a dumb name
cringe
The triumvirate of dumb named bad games has assembled
but enough about your first, middle, and last name
I'm not a game you Ganker wannabe kwab back to the mudshow
>92
KWAB
How is this title bad? Do you not know what fire watch towers are?
still defending your shitty little award grab game on Ganker? frick off your game SUCKS
Sean such a Hipster bad game named. No man's sky....Light no Fire...Tell me lies...Sweet little lies
Come on baby light no fire
I would have called it "Earthbound"
>Oh cool the No Man's Sky people are making a new game, I wonder what...
>Oh its just a really big No Man's Sky planet that's fantasy themed
what better team to make that game?
This. As much respect as I have for them sticking to NMS and improving it, it's still an absolute boring slog to get through, and once you've seen 8 or 9 planets, you've seen the other 100,000 of them.

NMS is entertaining for a few hours but as you say, you need a special kind of autism to keep going after that.
They are now competing with Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls after seeing how much they failed to compete with No Man’s Sky
They may end up dethroning Bethesda
Mogged. Starsisters, it's over. The Welshman gets the girl.
>all those bunnies
Based
A man of culture I see
Picked the frick up, I like playing as bnnuy
Legit curious about this. NMS is kinda been my zone out game lately after work so if it's just a reskin of that count me in.
This.
havent played in like 2 years but just reinstalled to vibe out for a bit. should I just re-roll season mode?
Try your old char/save for a bit. One thing I didn't like is at first it felt likes a slog to make real money or get cool tech or anywhere interesting but that was just me. But after like a month of play I got my Freighter, Fleet of Frigates, Multiple bases and 600mil+ in the bank and still finding little interesting cool things.
Did they forget to texture the characters or something?
whats the matter, not enough CGI for ya?
>whats the matter, not enough CGI for ya?
What? The problem is that it looks too much like CGI you dumbfrick. It looks cheap and nasty like all the cartoons poos shit out.
LMFAO literally No Man's Sky Fantasy edition, utterly fricking soulless.
Calm down bozo you'll get a new COD game in a few months.
Buy an ad, your disney dreamlight valley expansion won't sell itself.
take your meds, you're seething uncontrollably because you're a crybaby b***h.
yeah but what the frick is the game

Furshit because aliens weren't enough

see there's alot of people like this. I used to manage and build most of my group's Vanila Rust hideouts and primary HQ.
the downside is im really racist and cant go more than a few hours without screaming the n word and denying the holocaust 🙁
Sounds neat anon!

more like Pants On Fire
looks like a great game honestly, just gonna be a indie survival game like all the others and let you build shit
Love the people behind this, but I hope the game doesn't revolve around the same heterocentric attempt at drama as the trailer.
No idea but a cozy game like this looks kino, anon. Just glad they're not tripling down on NMS and have already been building this on the side for five years.

They've probably been making that stuff for this game but then they're like might as well try it out in NMS first
yeah but this game has all that stuff intended from the start instead of being bolted on to a subpar exploration game so it might suck less ass
this they got to beta test on NMS for 10 years and have been working on this for 5. they get a fresh slate without carrying the corpse of NMS another 500 miles.
still wish NMS has proper dungeon crawls

the male fantasy
Imagine spending 60 bucks just becaue you saw an anthro rabbit
Yes
I have a sickness and the only cure is bnnuy
The trailer looked nice but I can only anticipate mediocrity.
Looks like there are at least three different swim styles and fish AI
I just realized the top one swimming, is that a damn Otter person? Sean if you see this, as a long time lover of the Redwall books since I was in 3rd grade; you better not frick this up, I'm begging you.
If you look at
there's a rabbit, a badger and a mole (?)
Is this Caelid???
It's entirely possible this game has all of Elden Ring buried in it

There is mechanics but no soul
Hello Games is british what the frick are you talking about?
same fricked up housing situation, same culture, same rat race
will it be as utterly pointless as nms?
Yes I do consort with beasts, how could you tell?
YIFFE!
come on baby light no fire
Holy shit is that Open World Survival Crafting #190889234908!
WE ARE SO BACK
Journos have spoken.
MMO?
Multiplayer survival crafting it seems. Log trees, build houses, get mounts. It will be Valheim lite like NMS was Elite lite.
I mean NMS eventually grew into a psuedo mmo with subsequent patches so I imagine the same model will be used here.
This looks fricking EXACTLY like No Man's Sky, right down to copied water plants. At least it seems to be a bit more biome variety. I expect a complete jankfest.
