Kiryu is a mascot now and will be used for all future games. They've mistakenly concluded he's beloved to the degree that he can actively be their poster boy.
I feel that even if they continue making mainline games (that aren't prequels) set in the year they released in, they'll continue using Kiryu well after his expiration date. He has cancer? He'll just fight it off so he can come back for the next game. He gets way too old to keep doing this? Komaki is even more ancient so he can still bash heads at 100+. He dies? Another death fake-out. We actually see him get cremated? He'll have a clone or have his consciousness uploaded into an AI, or even be a ghost. It's kind of funny how it feels like RGG Studio appears to have written themselves into a corner with how Kiryu is aging with the series, but it's entirely possible to keep him around even after he dies of old age due to the bizarre leaps in technology or supernatural elements within the series, even if most of those are just side content.
It'll go into recession and he'll be fine for another 3 games. Pulling mystery illness out of their ass is just a stupid (and frankly quite cheap) way to stir up some drama for a character who's arc ended many games ago.
Cancer won't do it, at least not directly. He'll be put into a position where his condition/age is putting the orphanage at risk but he doesn't know how to live any other way but the way he has been. He'll get a heroic death to buy time or something along those lines whereby Kasuga and company will step in to save the day. This will be another fake death and he will continue to have cameos as a Taxi driver but be uninvolved with the plot.
I'd say if they do intend to finally write him out then he'll get the Solid Snake treatment, too old and fricked to fight anymore but won't die immediately and gets to enjoy his last bit of life in retirement.
But these are the same games that have a character go from being in a wheelchair to walking around due to some experimental drug.
>Implying there won't be a boss battle where Ichiban shrinks down to the molecular level and goes into Kiryu's body to fight the cancer cells as the final boss
Branding. Literally recognition, that's all. Kiryu has been "done" as a character for many games now and they're just wheeling around his corpse because he's someone the audience can recognize and that new fans can latch onto.
Which is weird because whatever new fans they obtained with Y7 are probably more team-Ichiban than Kiryu.
Apparently, Kenzan and Ishin are treated like dreams Kiryu had, where he imagined the games happening.
using deepl >No. 33 Magical Dreams or Memories of Swordsman >Dreams are amazing. In my dream, I somehow became a famous swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, and had to fight Sasaki Kojiro. In my dream, there was also Haruka in the dream, it was really intense. But ............... I still remember those feelings of reality, and it's hard to say that it was really just a dream.
She's basically a waitress who will become a prostitute when she grows up. Musashi loves Ukiyo and then Yoshino with Haruka as a side girl who will also marry him later on.
When you play as Kiryu you can visit locations that remind him of shit from previous games. I think one for instance was he sees the soapland Ichiban and the party stayed at for a bit in 7, and remembers that time he went into one with Haruka in 1.
>people still love Kiryu so damn much that it's hard to let him go
I think this is wrong. People LOVED Kiryu. He was cool as shit when he actually felt like he had development and plot and his character wasn't tied to a marketing post.
I know it's anecdotal, but I've never met anyone who -currently- loves Kiryu. The fans I know loved him, past tense.
I still love Kiryu and its why I'm upset they keep dragging on his story when it could have ended so many times now.
The way there are handling changing the main protagonists is the same way it happened in Ace Attorney with Apollo, where they felt afraid to just ditch the old characters and try something new so they brought back Phoenix and shit on his accomplishments up to that point for the sake of a story hook that had absolutely fricking nothing to do with the supposed new main character, just straight up sidelining him in his own game.
Ichiban feels the same way too now with how they are putting more emphasis on Kiryu then him, and for what? "Boo hoo Kiryu has cancer, he's totally gonna die now :("
Frick off, in hindsight it would have been a blessing for the last time we see Kiryu to have been laying in the snow in Haruka's arms at the end of 5
>Ace Attorney
I don't want to say it's quite that bad(or good depending on your point of view) since Apollo had it rough from day one while Ichiban had a good solo showing where the Kiryu appearance didn't overshadow him, WITH THAT SAID let's take a look at what would happen after these debuts. >Apollo gets to be directly involved with the plot of the next two games and arguably is the actual main character of the last game he appears in >Ichiban has to share the screentime with Kiryu who got a fricking Gaiden game that you should play before touching his own next installment.
Granted we have no idea if it's really going to be that bad for Ichiban but the point is things eventually got better for Apollo so there is a chance that things won't be as bad for Ichiban in 8 and onward.
AA5 and especially 6 are the absolute worst games in the series and are chores to play, so Apollo getting to have marginally more importance in them is not the win you present it as.
Ichiban is 100% Apollo given his story is going for more tedious family drama. I can't wait for 9 when it turns out he spent his childhood living with Tibetan nobility and he casually mentions his lifelong astronaut friend that no one knew about
>Yakuza 10 >Ichiban will now have 800 backstories piled on top of each other like Apollo
God, and to think this all could've been avoided if Apollo's debut backstory was just explored in the main plot or revealed to him in it. I will never understand what they were thinking. But this is getting off topic.
>in hindsight it would have been a blessing for the last time we see Kiryu to have been laying in the snow in Haruka's arms at the end of 5
Morning Glory was absolutely fricked, so no. It should've been with 3 or 4 when he's just taking care of the kids with absolutely nothing happening, would save us the milking too.
I will always be upset at how 5 pretended that the ending set up of 4 didn't happen and how every plot past it is due to the stupid events in it. But I do like every game after it so it could be worse.
>the same way it happened in Ace Attorney with Apollo
Nah it's not nearly as bad, Kiryu doesn't appear in 7 until the back half for one thing and even then the game feels like Kasuga's throughout, unlike AA4 feeling like Apollo more contributing to Phoenix's great scheme at the end
[...] >Granted we have no idea if it's really going to be that bad for Ichiban

Kasuga isn't being neglected at all, even if Kiryu doesn't really need around 50% of the focus
Well that's a relief at the very least, atleast we aren't capcom in this regard.

I love Kiryu but i'm tired of him
People weren't satisfied with 6's ending despite the actual ending being pretty much the only way they could've ended his story outside of outright killing him. I can agree with some complaints about 6, like how older characters got sidelined for the actors they brought on to the game, but I think the actual way they end Kiryu's story works and is a satisfying way to end it. Then by the next game, they retroactively go "erm actually, the things he did were actually bad and now his life sucks and it's all your fault for playing yakuza 6, how dare you!" in service of most likely setting up a happier ending that will feel ham-fisted and lame, assuming they ever choose to end it. And going off the datamine leak, his story STILL isn't over after 8 unless they want to piss some people off
I didn't like how they ended him in 6 but thought that was it, bittersweet but whatever
Then he appeared in 7
Then he got his own game in Gaiden
Now he's back in 8
Same, and its such a shame they won't let him fly free despite having Kiryu's fricking blessing. I'm not special for saying this shit, but Kiryu really shouldve dropped off the face of the fricking earth 6 games ago.

about a week or so ago, someone had apparently gotten deeper into files available on the demo, similar to how some late game model and png stuff from the full game were in the demo. In that datamine, the stuff that was claimed to be found were chapter titles, which chapters you play as who(based on information within those references), boss information including the final bosses(though Kiryu's is extremely easy to guess), when party members join your team, the characters Kiryu talks to for the bucket list side stuff, cutscene names and in game file references to audio(which reveals who has speaking parts during in engine cutscenes). The datamine information lines up with the trophy list that came out later as well with the information provided in the datamine which means a lot of it probably is accurate
What I'd like is my boy Kiryu to get some tail. Both Kaoru AND Yuki are coming back, and I still have the sinking feeling Kiryu is going to end up forever alone even if he survives.
I actually think it's pretty smart of them to leave Kiryu as he is. A good portion of young Japanese men aren't getting laid, and a good portion of those men are probably buying this video game. Having Kiryu stoic and untouched by women will make him more relatable to them and it will romanticize the "loner" life they probably already find themselves in.
I think that's why Kiryu does so well in Japan, he's like the "cool lone wolf" who doesn't need women as long he has poorly defined honor on his side.
Vacation Bundle
new game plus, with extra skins and items
Outfit Bundle
skins, apparently includes swimwear too
& Resort Bundle
no fricking clue, probably has something to do with the animal crossing mini game
There is a Pokemon pet raising/battling minigame as well as the animal crossing minigame. Those two bundles just give you some items for those two minigames.
apparently the did it with LAD's JP release and Sega of America stopped it for the international release
there's a good chance it'll show up as a separate dlc anyway so the base game would probs be enough, its not like we'll reach the need for ng+ that fast anyway
Master Vacation Bundle is the same as the Premium Masters Pack from 7 but now westerners know it exists because it's not packed in anymore. New outfits, NG+, Hard, Legend, the Big Swell dungeon (Which is probably just like the TFMT and there's probably something like it in PA to house Amon just easier like in 7), and apparently new items though 7 didn't have new items added so I don't know what that's about.
Assorted Outfit Bundle is just like 7's Bleach Japan or other outfit packs but with bikinis and some other stuff that we know of.
Sujimon & Resort Bundle is just gonna be cheat DLC like the past few games.
I wonder if Job Levels will be capped at 30 like base Y7 without the Masters Vacation Pack? Not that it really matters because you get your big stat increases from normal levels now.
they have used "oh no is he dead" cliffhanger so many times if they kill him off it won't have any dramatic effect. they're better off to just leave him in as an advisory/master character like hoshino/florist/kashiwagi and keep him to cameos
>they have used "oh no is he dead" cliffhanger so many times
This. Even if Kiryu takes a shotgun blast point blank that blows his chest and back out and we see him convulsing before a doctor declares him medically dead, I won't believe it. It'll be a body-double wearing a mask, or fake blood and a 3D hologram hole in his chest or a hallucination of the villain or whatever. I don't think they're physically able to stop milking Kiryu.
Kiryu's cancer going into remission is more believable than rubber bullets tho
that being said, he's been shot, stabbed, and beaten to state where normal men would've died
He's beating the cancer
That made sense in the plot of the game though, people assumed he was abducted while he left silently because he didn't trust his own organization.
People meeting at the top of millenium tower and be "well, since we don't know who the big bad is, we'll do what he wants and kill ourselves anyway" was probably the dumbest part.
doubt it
can't remember where but there was an interview with yokoyama a while back where he was asked about kaoru and sounded baffled when he realised that people actually cared about her, because to him, she was just some woman
I wouldn't be surprised if that scene in the trailer is her only scene and it's just to say 'no yeah we totally remember her haha :)'

You won't be able to 100% it on any platform without the DLC. You'll be able to platinum it on Playstation but not "Complete" it and the same applies to Xbox.
I know but at least on Playstation you can "platinum" games without owning the DLC, it's not the same on Steam. I'm going to try to CreamAPI the DLC and if that doesn't work I'm just going to use SAM to get the DLC achievements.
>You can platinum Lost Judgment without owning Kaito Files.
Really? I wouldn't know because I bought the Judgment Collection which comes with Kaito Files. I just assumed you would be stuck at 80 something percent without doing Kaito Files.
The Kiryu chapters better be fricking kino. We know at best there's a bit where he goes to a village and fights Daigo, Saejima and Majima along with the party.
That scene of Kiryu singing is going to be really fricking funny in the dub since we know what the English version of Judgement sounds like. Imagining Yong Kiryu trying to hype people up and then it cuts to him confidently going >WE'RE BREAKING THE LAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
with the autotune and all is going to be too funny to watch and I can't wait to see a clip of it.
I genuinely wonder how mad fans are going to be knowing Richardson survived when the datamine showed that Mine isn't in the game at all, meaning he probably didn't
I don't think they'll kill him, but seeing how this game is going to work story wise (with the bucket list thing for Kiryu) I don't really know how could they bring him back in a prominent role in the future.
I'll be happy if he just finishes his story here and goes back with his family. He can act as a side character/advisor along with Majima, Saejima and Daigo for Ichiban and whoever he befriends in the following games.
Ichiban's going to be 50 in the next game, he should be on the advice giving side at that point
So did the ending get leaked in that datamine?
We know who the final villains are and how many chapters major characters get but concrete details are still up in the air since most of it was just sniffing out names and shit in code
I think Ichi has one last game to give him a trilogy. Ichiban's core seems to revolve around family, and his proposal to Sae is partly due to him probably wanting his own family, so I could maybe see Ichiban accomplishing that in a possible third game, even if he's in his late forties or close to 50 at that point.
I don't think so. There is obviously a reaso why they put her in Kiryu's party, but at the same time Yokoyama said don't expect Ichiban proposing to her to be a big thing, and that the game is suddenly going to have some kind of love story or something.
I sometimes feel like Yokoyama just says things to mislead people though.
The datamines are unclear about any potential crossover once the split happens, everyone will probably reunite for the ending at least
So early on the party is >Ichiban >Kiryu >Eric >Chitose
And at some point in the story Kiryu goes back to Japan and teams up with >Seonhee >Nanba >Zhao >Saeko
While Adachi and Joon Gi go to Hawaii with Ichiban?
Yes but Joon Gi doesn't join Ichiban until CH13 lmao
Honestly, can't see the main series going on much longer.
The Tojo clan story is finished and Kiryu is most probably retiring/dying at the end of 8. Any ideas they have for Ichiban after 7 may sound as grasping at straws like this business about finding his mother or whatever comes next (marrying Saeko?).
I guess it can last as long as they have ideas, but right now having that much closure with Kiryu and many old characters in this game seems like a good point to set things up for a final game to end Ichiban's story and move on to a new series or a new spin off.
There's nothing stopping them from downsizing the scope of their stories. There's no reason every single character needs to go up against Japanese/Korean/Chinese/not-CIA glowies every single game, or unearth government corruption, or even deal with a gang. Why not try to stop one person from killing a handful of people? Kuwana is already pretty much exactly that in LJ regardless of the whole RK side of things.

I'd love another game like the psp games where the main plot is that you have to fight your way through an underground fight club and everything else happens around that
or just remake the psp games to be honest

I don't understand why they're matching up Kiryu with those people when he barely has any connection to them and them hoping to make the viewer give a shit because "wow they suddenly sing karaoke together, they're totally a team and best friends and you should give a shit about everyone here haha :)"
Idk, seems a bit weird going with the mainline while also straying that far after so many games following those themes, instead of doing something completely new like they did with Judgment. Even the idea of leaving Japan and going to Hawaii is strange, but I guess it's a cool novelty to freshen things up.
But it doesn't really matter, I'll keep buying and playing these games as long as they are good. Just a thought.
The writers and producers have been saying for a while they don't like having to limit themselves to the Yakuza. I bet they're happy to get out from under the Tojo and Omi clans. They want to broaden the underworld and now they can. If anything it gives them a lot more options. There is one relatively big unresolved plot line they could easily pull from and a few hinted at.
One dealing the the Saio triad, the others dealing with Korean mafia and US and British glowBlack folk.
Nobody knows as the irl yakuza are in the same shitter and kume-likes won irl too. Either going to go smaller private scale or continue with wishful thinking about healthy independent Japan. It's real fricking sad either way.
You can now move around during your turn and reposition yourself.
You can stand next to street items to pick them up if you do a basic attack and it shows you if you will use it on the enemy.
You can hit enemy backs with basic attacks and it launches them on top of doing critical damage, I can't remember if skills did it as well but I don't think they did.
Basic attack finishers now have your nearby party members (Massive detection range this time) always go for a combination attack instead of the enemy needing to be near them and on the ground for the party members to attack. This basically means you get 2-3 people attacking your target if you use basic attacks now instead of just maybe one party member helping out.
Essences now don't seem to be full enemy team but more like area of effect things with each one having their own special way of hitting enemies (At least what the demo showed) but it's still really easy to hit all enemies from the ones we were given access to.
MP is lower across the board even at 99 in every job according to the demo compared to the original.
You can now do limit break attacks which are effectively stronger Essences.
You can now do team attacks which are also effectively stronger Essences but they consume both party member's limit breaks.
Essentially, they've made early and midgame much easier, endgame remains to be seen.
I know but at least on Playstation you can "platinum" games without owning the DLC, it's not the same on Steam. I'm going to try to CreamAPI the DLC and if that doesn't work I'm just going to use SAM to get the DLC achievements.

Your account will still say like 87% despite having the platinum. Steam is the same way where you can get base game 100% achievements since they're just matching the Playstation trophy requirement. Xbox is also the same way because it lists 1000/1450 GS or whatever amount the DLC adds even if you don't own the DLC.
I wonder if Job Levels will be capped at 30 like base Y7 without the Masters Vacation Pack? Not that it really matters because you get your big stat increases from normal levels now.
Well, if you use the demo unlocker mod you can raise characters to 99 so base game probably lets you get to 99 now instead of needing the DLC.

Thanks for the clarification. I think DLC trophies/achievements just shouldn't be a thing.
Reminder that all the bosses you've fought so far in the series are secretly alive as daidoji agents and they were laughing their asses off behind the closed door when Kiryu bawled his eyes out
The game is tedious as hell so just set it to the easiest difficulty you can stomach and blast through it skipping all the substories and minigames because they're almost all terrible in 3.
Chronologically LJ takes place after 7 and before 8, but we have no idea what references (If any) 8 will have to LJ, and Gaiden's references were mostly game agnostic outside of one thing which was Sigiura's description saying he own Yokohama 99 if I'm remember it right.
I don't see why you couldn't play LJ after 8 if you really want it that way.
Yeah I mean, I've been wanting to play LJ since finishing Judgment because I loved the characters. But these days, playing 7, Ichiban stole my heart (no homo) and I wanted to know if I'd miss something just leaving LJ for last and going 7 -> Gaiden -> IW instead, because it'd be a shame if that were true given that until now I've been playing them mostly in order except the standalones like Judgment.
You don't need to if you just don't read the descriptions of stuff when Judgment stuff does pop up. It's very hard to miss when it happens so when it does happen just don't read what it says and you'll be fine. If you start LJ now you'll just wanna play LJ.

I agree with Moose. I'm not sure exactly what part he's talking about but if you get the ball rolling on Lost Judgment it will be very hard to stop it. I played through it a month ago and once the plot got going I didn't want to stop.
I'd take into account how much time you have available before IW. Gaiden is mandatory for IW but I wouldn't start LJ if you don't have the 30 hours to finish it before IW.
I see
Time is key indeed, that's why I'll better leave LJ for now and enjoy the rest of Y7 before going to Gaiden and IW
Yagami becomes a less engaging character in LJ in my opinion. Ichi is a more interesting character as of now. The one thing Yagami's games get absolutely right though is the "me and the boys" energy, especually in LJ. As fun as the Y7 party is, the synergy doesn't feel nearly as good as the judgement crew.
You're right on the party thing, I remember in Judgment they weren't even trying to be subtle about it and it worked so well (picrel subtle Judgment spoiler)

>I'm not sure exactly what part he's talking about
I thought the game mentioned Yokohama 99 in Sugiura's description and him running it but I double-checked and it's not there so there shouldn't be any LJ spoilers at all. My bad. Everything else can take place whenever on the Judgment timeline and it wouldn't contradict anything even though Gaiden is technically before LJ.
>people treating Gaiden games like they matter at all because there’s a couple of lines of references
Gaiden was originally supposed to be flashbacks in 8 to explain stuff with Kiryu meaning all the major characters, including Shishido and Nishitani III should be appearing in the main story of 8 as main characters who want to go against Kiryu.

Yeah Gaiden spun into existence since whatever flashbacks they were trying to make to establish Kiryu and Hanawa's relationship were too moronic even for Yokoyama to leave as is in IW. They're not sneaking famous actors in another release without any advertising so Nishitani, Shishido, and Akame are 99% Gaiden only.
>They're not sneaking famous actors in another release without any advertising
Half the Daidoji goons using the various gadgets in Gaiden are famous actors and I don't recall them hyping any of them up.
I think the boutique guy in the castle is portrayed by some sort of special guest as well
I remember the guy who ran Charles in the first judgment got a special credit so I guess he was also somebody
Mine was shot but Wesker and his buddies got shot by Daigo's coma power more than Mine so if anything Wesker should be dead and Mine should be in Hawaii.
Before I played the demo, I was more expecting Kiryu to be the overpowered party member that leaves early and come back later, only to be taken away at the end.

Seako and Seonhee have Hawaii outfits
Also yes the latter name is how it's spelt now, it's apparently more accurate than Seong-Hui
LJ is my most played game in the franchise and the only one I've bothered to do more than 2 playthroughs for. After gaiden, I'm more or less convinced that the LJ combat was a fluke. Assuming RGG doesn't give up on brawler combat after gaiden/IW, I don't have confidence that they'll be able to make combat as fun as in LJ again.
Gaiden wasn't a main game they put all their effort into, especially if it wasn't originally intended to be a thing. I'd wait until the next full length beat em up to judge.
They've been saying that they hate writing for Kiryu since Yakuza 3 first came out.
Clearly they wouldn't keep him around if the powers that be didn't demand it.
My guess is that AKSHUALLY DAIDOJI will be the answer to these questions from now on. With every new entry, I find myself wishing that Ichiban's game was a hard reboot.
The main story one had soul but they went way too hard in the side content and now I'm scared they just tested the waters for a full return.
He’s 100% coming back to tell a distraught Kiryu to stop being a b***h and become the Dragon of Dojima like he remembers and kick the villain’s ass. Basically: >LET THE LEGEND COME BACK TO LIFE

hey yakuza bros. I just started Y7 a few days ago, only about 10 hours in but just unlocked new jobs and am having an amazing time so far. All of my party members are stuck on the cusp of the Level 1 relationship. Two times I've been eating and a conversation has happened that seemed like it would move them along or upgrade the relationship, and the game even pauses and shows that meter, but it doesn't move. Am I doing something wrong? I spent every cent last night at the cabaret club hoping to advance the meter but nothing happened at all. Am I waiting for a story event to take place still to fix this? I'm nervous that I'm doing something wrong because I got confused just trying to do the Seiryu dungeon because I didn't realize I needed to have a full armor set on Ichi specifically, so I'm worried it's just something I missed.
NOT. COOL. DUDE. What in the hecking science do you think you're hecking doing spoiling it for other kyodais like me and him. TOTALLY UNCOOL and TOTALLY UN (wait for it) EPIC. FRICK and FRICK you and your SO. I hope you have swords in your shit cereal.
>Musician Nanba >Enforcer Adachi >Hitman Han
What kind of scuffed team did you roll with here? Why those choices? Adachi is terrible on Legend and Enforcer is by far the best on Han so why go with those? Musician Nanba is the most baffling one since Musician has nothing good on it.
>Yokoyama: IW is a happy story >Yokoyama: I based Kiryu's cancer off my own experiences (still alive btw) >it's still technically an Ichiban game
oh my god is Kiryu going to make it!??!?!?!?!?
I never thought he was gonna die just that cancer was gonna be the excuse for him to live out in retirement and the Daidoji being FORGIVENESS PREASE and let him go
The Yakuza series went down the same path as Ace Attorney >protagonist's story is concluded (Yakuza 2/T&T); no idea what to do with them now >want to make a new story with a new protagonist (Yakuza 4/AJ) >execs: NOOOOO YOU HAVE TO INCLUDE KIRYU/PHOENIX! >now each series is stuck with them forever >get around this by making a spinoff without them (Judgement/GAA)
This is pretty clearly going to be Kiryu's send off game. He finally let go of his Yumi addiction and that one trailer made it seem like he was going to go around and meet pretty much every relevant character in the whole series. They're bringing back Kaoru after all this time and even having him meet Kashiwagi
>literal developers of the game: oh shit what's happening in Ichiban's story again I've been in the Kiryu kino mines for too long
yeah I'm thinking we're back
There's a lot of the Hawaii city that's being rendered at max LODs even though it's not part of the demo area. Gaiden is much smaller and set in two small locations which are trivial to occlusion cull any hidden geometry in, and also has far fewer NPCs and their behaviors are less complicated compared to the Friend NPCs in IW who have schedules and pathfinding instead of fixed routes
I expect the full release of 8 to be much better optimized.
I really want to get 8 as it seems to have fixed pretty much all of the things I didn't like the look of in 7 but I need to finish 7 if I'm going to get 8 but I don't really want to spend too long on it. How long would it take to beat?
Depends if you do side story, if you're hook on mini games
( I was totally caught off guard and addicted by the company managing mini game so i really spent way more time in it than i should do)
Everything but the combat is the exact same as any other Yakuza game. There is literally no difference outside of the combat.
The combat itself is of a barebones JRPG. Early on you'll at least be swapping around jobs and trying new skills, but it eventually funnels itself into one single playstyle with no real reason to even bother with anything else and that's it. Neptunia games have more depth than it.
It's a JRPG. The systems it does have actually constitute an improvement over most. Don't follow a guide for levelling or assigning jobs to the characters or else you'll make it a grind for yourself and kill the primary enjoyment of learning the best strategies and choices to make.
You'll feel way overleveled when you get to Sotenbori. That isn't the case, and you should do as much of the Sotenbori Battle arena as you can manage, or else you'll get stuck on the story difficulty spike.
Don't grind in your original save file to beat the True Final Millennium Tower, NG+ on Legend difficulty and do it after that playthrough.
it's a movie game who the frick cares for the gameplay here. It's the same spam but instead of xxxyy spam it's an assigned skill button spam. The only yakuza which still directly punishes facefricking mashing approach is 3 and look where it took it
Zero and k1 punish mashing a lil bit, you can't press your strong attack if the queue is full of basic attacks. Yes it makes sense. No I didn't like that.
I think the combat is borderline awful because none of it feels thought out well. That being said, you can mostly coast through the game pretty easily. Just never interact with the post game dungeon, it's absolute dog shit.
No, it might be in 6 months but not immediately.
SEGA did day 1 for Gaiden to sell copies of 8 and is doing it for Persona 3 Reload so they can pack Persona 6 with DLC and get more people to buy it on release. 8 is the payday of offering all the other Yakuza games on game pass.
ichi is instantly more endearing that kiryu because he's allowed to have actual character while the writers for kiryu wrote him more like a self-insert straight man and any emotional moments he did have usually came out of thin air and kuroda couldn't carry the emotional kiryu like he could the stoic one (back then when 3 was coming out, he's clearly gotten better with gaiden)
Kiryu pulled up some real emotions lately. Plus young Kiryu of 0, or extra depressed y5 Kiryu, or sassy Kiryu from y7g all sound rather different. Nobody needs solo guitar skills from the bassist doing his job just fine.
Okay here's a question, do you guys think there's any japanese voice performances that are bad in these games?
It's hard to think of one myself that's in main story. If we count side stuff then you can easily just say the kids in the first ono michio substory
>Komaki and Kiryu bumping fists
It's so fricking over Kiryubros.
Not particularly. My hot take is that Kuroda has awkward line delivery sometimes, but it's mostly contained in the hostess mini games throughout the series. Not the main story, but almost none of the porn actresses can voice/act.
that awkwardness gives Kiryu his charm though, especially when he had to voice the goofy substories in Y6. it was a highlight of the game for me.

Where's Sosuke
Aside from a few side characters, typically where they try to portray foreigners (which is always funny) most of the VAs are on point. Not that they're good, but that they represent their characters well. When they speak, I believe it. It goes a long way to making some of the jank animations work. Which is why I do not like the English VAs. Ichiban is okay but it just doesn't sound like it should come out of his mouth. and don't even get me started on Yong Yea. Stupid, terrible choice. Makes me question whether they did it to troll everyone.
I was thinking it was a wig and that he lost his hair from chemo, but he was already sporting that hair at the end of Gaiden so I guess it's just a dumb disguise.
It's probably a slightly better attempt at a disguise. Remember the Daidoji gave him some glasses and a name extremely similar to Kiryu and thought that would somehow work in Gaiden. They're pretty shit at being incognito.
You've been told that you're wrong but you keep pushing it, only listening to those who agree with you. Japanese speaker here, btw. You got it all completely wrong and have been corrected, and yet you still use your own bias to justify your views. Yes, you being personally triggered by this line because of what had happened to you IS a bias. I'm sorry that you had to live through something like this, but stop pushing your beliefs on a RGG character. RGG is not subtle like this. If it was what they truly meant — they would've given us concrete proof. As it is, Shishido was just taunted.
Here, booted up the demo quickly for you. It's the final part of his basic combo in DoD.
This made me realize it's pretty weird how Gaiden just skips over everything with Kiryu's appearance in 7 proper, where he's hanging out with the korean lady and fights Ichiban.
I can't remember if it was the threads at launch or an interview with Yokoyama but I definitely remember seeing something about Ichiban having a fight planned but they cut it. Might have been someone who datamined Gaiden. I assume it's because it would just feel weird to throw in there after the final boss.
I may just be easy to please but I'm into most of them, even the hawaii battle theme, though the majima theme I think is too much for even me
Haven't listened to them since one of the uploaders got their channel taken down, I'll check it out again on release
Does Ai Uehara count as a voice performance
Yeah that's another reason why counting side stuff is pretty easy, anything from the AV actresses are pretty not great
Not particularly. My hot take is that Kuroda has awkward line delivery sometimes, but it's mostly contained in the hostess mini games throughout the series. Not the main story, but almost none of the porn actresses can voice/act.
This may be direction but I kinda got tried of hearing Kiryu in 6 with everything being voiced. He talks pretty slowly and does this really noticeable inhale
I can't wait to actively have to suspend my disbelief while the entire cast goes to Hawaii and not a single one of them speaks English for the full 60 hour game.
This and the NIPPON NUMBAH WUN speech at the end of the game were the highlights of that game. For some reason I didn't expect to see them at all in the game.
damn that sounds great, i could play the game like that i don't really like chinese cadence. something tells me Sega went out of their way to find some talent unlike how they treated amerifats.
I don't understand why they're matching up Kiryu with those people when he barely has any connection to them and them hoping to make the viewer give a shit because "wow they suddenly sing karaoke together, they're totally a team and best friends and you should give a shit about everyone here haha :)"
They did that in 3, 4, and 6. So it's not like it's unprecedented. I would argue it's pretty cool to pair him up with the homeless. I was hoping Ichiban would have stronger teammates but it looks like they're just leaning on the same folks from 7 and a few new 'everymans'
Hey, at first I had the same feeling about Ichiban's friend being in Kiryu's party instead of his own people like Majima, Saejima (or even Akiyama, a man can dream).
But later I realized it will be nice getting to see Kiryu hanging out with friends and having fun after so many gloomy adventures being a loner.
Hell, the side stories of the bar in Yakuza 6 about making friends and giving life advice to them was incredibly wholesome and is something that we haven't seen that much in this series.
I would like to have some scenes like that with Daigo, Majima, and Saejima, but maybe they figured it would be a bit too weird for Kiryu to get chummy after all this time. idk what their reasoning is.
Yeah, would love that as well but sadly don't see that happening.
I hope for a cutscene at least where they all can sit down and enjoy a chat like normal people instead of the angry yakuza super humans caught in a fricked up conspiracy they've always been
He became bros with Rikiya after the guy and his family tried to run his orphanage out of town anon. 6 he becomes bros with a cast who at the start don't like him at all and their captain kept trying to start shit with him. I don't think it's that odd for him to become friends with Ichiban's gang.
This made me realize it's pretty weird how Gaiden just skips over everything with Kiryu's appearance in 7 proper, where he's hanging out with the korean lady and fights Ichiban.
i assumed that they saved that for part of the main game, maybe for some backstories for your teammates or whatever. Seems like a huge omission from Gaiden unless it was already used in the main game.
plenty of 0 content stands on older knowledge shoulders and that stopped no one. Half of Sotenbori substories being yumeshit, dance battles? Revelations? Daigo Ryuji Ogita who? You can play gaiden as it is perfectly well just believeing the narrator and treat supposedly important people as such. Done.

0 may reference later shit but nothing plot critical is tied to earlier stuff unlike MGS3 where a big chunk of it revolves around the player knowing who Big Boss is.

The thing is that 0 is a self-contained story that requires no knowledge of the series plot beforehand.
Meanwhile, Gaiden's premise relies on you knowing the ending of Y6, proceeds to intersect with LaD's plot near the end, and the ending has the most impact if you've played Y3.
They're not wrong. Despite the series preaching the importance of your choices througout the series, nothing you did in ME and ME2 mattered in ME3.
Thanks EA.
The Omi HQ was the perfect climax for the game, anon. After all, 7+Gaiden has ended up being the true Yakuza 7 we didn't get initially and that you need to play to fully understand everything.
Besides I think it would have been weird to see or animate Ichiban and his bros fighting in the classic beat em up style.
Kiryu was done after 3. They just keep dragging his corpse out every game, despite having zero character development or personality. He's so fricking boring.
Ichi was such a breath of fresh air as a protag for this series it isnt even funny.
why'd he ran away from those trannies in the older games when they began chasing him around to pin him down and frick him in the ass if he's so open to the idea?
okama typically used for crossdressers, which has a long history throughout the world. chopping your dick off is, relatively, new and probably not the intention of okama. idk how it's used now, but okama knew they were men but had the soul of women. It's in virtually every japanese media dealing with their red light districts. It's a shame they were forced to cut it out but for real, those were some really bad substories because the running minigame sucked. I did not miss them.
So since Ichiban's the charismatic wacky one and Kiryu's the stoic one with a time stopping ability of sort, modders are gonna replace Ichiban with Sonic and Kiryu with Shadow within what, a month?
continuing with turn based is probably due to the high amount of women in japan buy the games. it's easier for them, japanese like dragon quest, etc.
Gaiden pushed the brawler style to new heights by doing in it what they originally were trying to do in Y7 with the huge ensemble fights. RGG hasn't given up on the brawler style, we just have to wait until ~2months or so after Y8 releases for their "big announcement" which is likely a new spinoff series like judgment.
I wish they had just let Kiryu retire in Okinawa at the end of 6. He could still show up for cameos now and then but wouldn't be the center of the plot anymore. I'm so bored of "Kiryu must suffer" endings. The whole cancer angle makes me feel nothing because I know RGG can and will just pull some bullshit out of a hat to magically cure it if they decide they want him around for another game.when every game is Kiryu being self sacrificing and suffering for the sake of others, further suffering no longer even registers as notable. Like who cares if he has cancer, he might as well be dead anyway given his current existence is endlessly being blackmailed by a moronic secret agency into violent action.
the datamined kiryu model looks like he lost 40 lbs of muscle, I would say that's probably the correct guess, otherwise he wouldnt' need to team up with 2 women and a frumpy homeless guy.
She'd be a great Assassin with her ability to do the old seduce and throat slit but she's a skinny lady so probably not actually that good in straight up brawls outside of imagination fighting parity.
Tbh keeping him in the story has given us some kino moments like the fight against Ichiban or the whole final chapter of Gaiden and probably will deliver hard with the bucket list in 8.
Looking back it wasn't that bad of a decision, but they must let him go for good this time if they don't want him to really become a burden to the franchise.
I'm mixed on gaiden and it doesn't help that the combat was a league below LJ. I don't really think it should exist, and Kiryu should've been retired much earlier, but the last 2-3 hours of gaiden was the first time since the PS2 era that this franchise made me feel anything emotionally.
Datamine showed there are 10 "Unfinished Business" bucket list substories(main characters) and 12 bucket list substories(sub story characters). We can probably guess who the main character ones are, but outside of Pocket Fighter and Four Shine, who else could be substory ones? I hope this time it's actually the return of Mack.
I feel like they're possible given how they've brought these guys back multiple times. But I feel like of Yakuza 2 substories, we're probably getting Il Yu-jin as one.
I mean we already know he's there, we saw him in the trailer as a poundmate. >Kiryu substory >Initially breaks into a fight but in the end they settle their differences like men and shake hands.
I just want one last side mission with pocket circuit bro before Kiryu kicks the bucket.
They had him in 7 and one of the trailers has him looking at the photo of the two while you hear him talking.
>The kid in the backpack in the trailer isn't Haruto like people assume it is >It's Akimoto and Mizuki's child that they named Kazuma to thank him for keeping them together. >Somehow we still get a mission where one of them is about to kill themselves.
Pocket Fighter's story was resolved in 6, but he's already confirmed to be one from the trailer. So whether the "story" of the substory is over doesn't seem to matter.
I know Yokoyama hates Yakuza 3, but no way in hell would Taichi be considered a sub story character. He's probably going to be a main character one as a surrogate for the entire orphanage.
Even though they only showed up in substories from 4 onward, Yuya and Kazuki are still technically "main characters" given they have some level of relevance in 1, 2 and 3.
>play Ishin >scrape together some masterwork sword finally with 1100 attack so the enemies stop being damage sponges >third tier of battle dungeon, the sword deletes their armor in one hit but does frickall damage otherwise
okay then, I guess I need some stupid cards
I had a full inventory of food from cooking but it wasn't this bad, a 600 attack sword did the trick, now the regular enemies take as much as the bosses with a sword from the end of the chart. I also just didn't give a shit about cards because I wanted to get a few of them before deciding which one to invest into leveling up. I foolishly thought I could figure it out myself without guide gaming.
>without guide gaming
Ishin's not that kind of game if you want to 100% it. Battle Dungeon requires a fully kitted out gun and the best cards to clear. Melee is actually one of the worst options, and even in Ishin Kiwami it's only good for the Beyblade and nothing else. You don't actually use normal attacks ever.
None of that shit was worth it. Ishin remains the only game in the franchise that I just turned on cheat engine for. The crafting and trooper systems are irredeemable trash.
>Taichi became a firefighter inspired by Kiryu to protect people >Infinite wealth trailer shows him at a hostess club with about 6 b***hes around him
Truly, he was the best orphan.
>Always heard how moronic rubber bullets was in 4. >Just finished 3 and 4 back to back for the first time
Honestly, identical CIA twin and Brack Moneday was even more moronic.
Black Monday isn't a dumb twist, it ties to the idea that the threat against the orphanage was really just bait, which then makes it so when Black Monday is defeated with Richardson's death, there is no longer a reason to push for the military expansion which allows the orphanage to stay.
The story didn't even need it. Just making it so the Yakuza wanted the land for real estate money would be enough. Mine seeing the error of his comical hate boner for orphans would be enough.
I didn't need to see the defense minister give 40 minutes of exposition.
At least it was an excuse to let Kiryu fight his daddy sort of. They had to chicken out of saying one might be stronger by having Kiryu sound more exhausted after then fighting Jo Amon and have him say he might have lost if the guy wasn't like 30 years older.
They even call the rubber bullets stupid in 4's story, it's why the police chief get's them by the balls beause he points out how moronic it is that Saejima got 18 headshots because the dipshit Yakuza shot everyone in the head.
If you're expecting the kind of Majima from 0 to 2 then you're not getting that. After 2 is when they tried to make him an actual character instead of Japanese Joker, and when he does do the Japanese Joker stuff it's mainly just to instigate fights he's gotta deal with anyway.
I don't know how much it actually takes to make a quality model, still so far, the only good one is the RE4 remake Ada replacement one. No idea how much they needed to do that, but the end result completely decimates the new actor's performance and it's not even close.
Usually it only takes like 15-30 seconds of audio to do a simple one for TTS. There's also direct dubbing, which isn't quite there yet. It's fun to mess with, but the AI needs more time in the oven.
She has a reason up until the Chinese warehouse raid, then she has absolutely no reason why she, as a civvy who only knows how to boxercise, would be willingly throwing herself at the Chinese mafia, Yokohama yakuza, and Korean mafia. She has her answer to what happened to Nonomiya which is the whole reason why she went with Ichiban's group in the first place, she has Ichiban and an ex-cop going after the people responsible for Otohime Land's issues, and Nanoha has been completely saved from any sort of bad issues surrounding her thanks to Ichiban.
This is like if you wanted to know why your buddy got shot and so you help a friend of your buddy also investigating the same thing, and then it turns out he and his friends are going to assault a Mexican cartel's drug warehouse alone and you decide to go with them despite not even knowing how to use a gun.
>they use fricking nyanners and other random nobodies who barely even played any of the games in the series to promote future installments before they use that (devilleon7) dude whose been autistically into the series before they were even translated and helped get others into the series long before any of this
where the frick do their priorities like? this has to make you seethe at least to some degree knowing you basically gave them free marketing and they won't even acknowledge you but instead go with some nobodies that contributed nothing to the overall attention the series got.
They're only doing it for the marketing. Their cards are legitimately all garbage and worse than Cs in actual use. Their only purpose is to throw on a random deck for passive stats.
Guys, I'm gonna be honest here, listening to the leaked karaoke tracks for 8... Zhao's English actor unironically improved the new karaoke song compared to the JP actor....
>they use fricking nyanners and other random nobodies who barely even played any of the games in the series to promote future installments before they use that (devilleon7) dude whose been autistically into the series before they were even translated and helped get others into the series long before any of this

>you're gonna buy the game regardless
I'm not. 6 was the last one I bought and played in the series. I'm not supporting any of their shit from now on but I still want to just follow and see what they end up doing with the characters so I'll just watch the cutscenes online.
watching a bit of some of his stream. dude can't help himself to constantly fence sit and shit cause he's afraid of getting cancelled or saying something to anger the usual crowd of trannies or whatever.
it was really hilarious that literally everyone was shitting on yong on twatter meanwhile he was going 'uh yikes what a mess that dub is. the harrassment though uh, not a good look.' Slimy little homosexual.
idk how it's considered harassment when you just tell the person honestly that they're shit at their job cause they are. if anything, it's actually encouraged if they couldn't help but act like a narcissistic homosexual about it and be like "yeah my work is so amazing lol im so great!"
Saw his tier video and he died for me. "Haha rubber dame dame blockuza amirite my beautiful patreon patrons?" Jesus F. Christ if you got burned out on the games it's alright to let it go dude
>tfw kind of want to play the english dub for date, danny trejo and ichiban >but don't want to listen to fricking YOOOOOOOOOOONG for the whole game
I'll never understand why they hired him
They use MP. Essences are what traditional Heat Actions are while the rest of the regular attacks could just be considered weapon attacks or random abilities you'd get like bounding throws.
With how over the top and goofy the newer yakuza games are, I hope they bring back 3's sillier revelation/IF7 heat actions like essence of smoking, essence of pole dancing, and essence of rolling.
Kiryu is a mascot now and will be used for all future games. They've mistakenly concluded he's beloved to the degree that he can actively be their poster boy.
>They've mistakenly concluded he's beloved to the degree that he can actively be their poster boy.
He is
I feel that even if they continue making mainline games (that aren't prequels) set in the year they released in, they'll continue using Kiryu well after his expiration date.
>Yakuza game takes in the year 3000
>Protagonist is an android with Kiryu's personality/brain/actually Kiryu gaven the robocop treatment
;_;
Very cool
He has cancer in this game, he's gonna die eventually.
It'll go into recession and he'll be fine for another 3 games. Pulling mystery illness out of their ass is just a stupid (and frankly quite cheap) way to stir up some drama for a character who's arc ended many games ago.
nah he'll pull through
He'll get a surgery in America to remove it, the catch is that he'll need Infinite Wealth™ to pay for the hospital fees.
Yokoyama, I kneel. You truly brought KINO to this franchise.
Rubber diagnosis
Why do they bring back dead characters when they could flesh out existing ones? Like Ishioda? That guy barely had any presence in 7.
Sad.
Rikuchads won
>kenzan is now canon
kinon
Apparently, Kenzan and Ishin are treated like dreams Kiryu had, where he imagined the games happening.
Kek that's hilarious
>Kiryu has a nightmare about zombies
lmaooooo
using deepl
>No. 33 Magical Dreams or Memories of Swordsman
>Dreams are amazing. In my dream, I somehow became a famous swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, and had to fight Sasaki Kojiro. In my dream, there was also Haruka in the dream, it was really intense. But ............... I still remember those feelings of reality, and it's hard to say that it was really just a dream.
isnt haruka a prostitute in those games ? strange thing for kiryu to dream about
Dunno about Kenzan but you save Haruka from debt in Ishin and grow veggies with her
i think a plot point is that haruka works in some role at a brothel(never directly stated if she actually sucks and fricks though)
She's basically a waitress who will become a prostitute when she grows up. Musashi loves Ukiyo and then Yoshino with Haruka as a side girl who will also marry him later on.
There's 90 memoirs in the JP version and 89 in the western versions. The Kenzan one was likely removed since we never got it.
What is this?
When you play as Kiryu you can visit locations that remind him of shit from previous games. I think one for instance was he sees the soapland Ichiban and the party stayed at for a bit in 7, and remembers that time he went into one with Haruka in 1.
He was already supposed to be out in 7, but people still love Kiryu so damn much that it's hard to let him go. That new hair is sad though
>people still love Kiryu so damn much that it's hard to let him go
I think this is wrong. People LOVED Kiryu. He was cool as shit when he actually felt like he had development and plot and his character wasn't tied to a marketing post.
I know it's anecdotal, but I've never met anyone who -currently- loves Kiryu. The fans I know loved him, past tense.
>has he been your favorite character for 10 years or was he your favorite character 10 years ago?
>its_over.gif
What a stupid post. And it's always the dumbasses who use capslock when they wish to emphasize words.
They embarrass themselves so much, the typeset just seems too comical to use, like using ! without the slightest hint of irony.
>stop capitalizing words to avoid embarrassment
>stop using exclamation marks without irony
You are officially more easily triggered than ResetEra.
>triggered
Do as you please. Those things just make it harder to take you seriously.
I'm surprised you use use periods without irony.
I'm surprised this is the first time you've come across such a common take.
>Apollo gets to be directly involved with the plot of the next two games and arguably is the actual main character of the last game he appears in
>Ichiban has to share the screentime with Kiryu who got a fricking Gaiden game that you should play before touching his own next installment.
Oh shit, Apollo Schizo is that you?
Ichiban is 100% Apollo given his story is going for more tedious family drama. I can't wait for 9 when it turns out he spent his childhood living with Tibetan nobility and he casually mentions his lifelong astronaut friend that no one knew about
>Yakuza 10
>Ichiban will now have 800 backstories piled on top of each other like Apollo
Well that's a relief at the very least, atleast we aren't capcom in this regard.
>the same way it happened in Ace Attorney with Apollo
Nah it's not nearly as bad, Kiryu doesn't appear in 7 until the back half for one thing and even then the game feels like Kasuga's throughout, unlike AA4 feeling like Apollo more contributing to Phoenix's great scheme at the end
>Granted we have no idea if it's really going to be that bad for Ichiban
See
for an idea
Kasuga isn't being neglected at all, even if Kiryu doesn't really need around 50% of the focus
I love Kiryu but i'm tired of him
I didn't like how they ended him in 6 but thought that was it, bittersweet but whatever
Then he appeared in 7
Then he got his own game in Gaiden
Now he's back in 8
I like ichiban more than kiryu.
Me too.
same
Same, and its such a shame they won't let him fly free despite having Kiryu's fricking blessing. I'm not special for saying this shit, but Kiryu really shouldve dropped off the face of the fricking earth 6 games ago.
And going off the datamine leak, his story STILL isn't over after 8 unless they want to piss some people off
What datamine leak?
about a week or so ago, someone had apparently gotten deeper into files available on the demo, similar to how some late game model and png stuff from the full game were in the demo. The datamine information lines up with the trophy list that came out later as well with the information provided in the datamine which means a lot of it probably is accurate
>turn-based
Mark my words he will again come back in yakuza 9 and all this cancer drama was his protocol nightfall
How the frick am I supposed to insert a CD shaped like that?
Kiryu has been getting ass since the first game. It all depends on how much you actually interact with the environments.
I just want to suck and taste and worship perfect Seonhee feet.
>footgays
>people
why there's no yakuza general thread actually
Because this thread has 15 IPs 2 hours after being posted. Dead series.
what a shame
Ehr, nothing wrong with something being niche.
just want a place to scroll at work yknow
I'm considering pre-ordering it but, are they actually selling premium adventure/ng+ separately? That's just fricked up
>That's just fricked up
Feels bad. I'm also buying the inflated priced version of Persona 3 Reload.
>Master Vacation Bundle
>Assorted Outfit Bundle
>Sujimon & Resort Bundle
the frick is this?
Vacation Bundle
new game plus, with extra skins and items
Outfit Bundle
skins, apparently includes swimwear too
& Resort Bundle
no fricking clue, probably has something to do with the animal crossing mini game
There is a Pokemon pet raising/battling minigame as well as the animal crossing minigame. Those two bundles just give you some items for those two minigames.
>£40 more just to get stuff which should be in the base game
Frick's sake, why they are like this
apparently the did it with LAD's JP release and Sega of America stopped it for the international release
there's a good chance it'll show up as a separate dlc anyway so the base game would probs be enough, its not like we'll reach the need for ng+ that fast anyway
This amount of DLC is nothing compared to other JRPGs. Trails and Atelier have $120+ on day 1 in addition to the full $60 game.
Not that it really matters because you get your big stat increases from normal levels now.
all jap games (except nintendo) have DLC out the ass since 7th gen.
I still can't decide whether to get it on PC or PS5
Not premium adventure just new game +
just when he thought he was out, they pull him back in
they have used "oh no is he dead" cliffhanger so many times if they kill him off it won't have any dramatic effect. they're better off to just leave him in as an advisory/master character like hoshino/florist/kashiwagi and keep him to cameos
>they have used "oh no is he dead" cliffhanger so many times
He's beating the cancer
>rubber bullets
Is this the dumbest twist in the series? I can't think of anything stupider. And that includes double-locker-babies.
>I can't think of anything stupider.
mirror face
probably, Daigo fricking off in 5 when everyone thought he was abducted comes close tho
That made sense in the plot of the game though, people assumed he was abducted while he left silently because he didn't trust his own organization.
People meeting at the top of millenium tower and be "well, since we don't know who the big bad is, we'll do what he wants and kill ourselves anyway" was probably the dumbest part.
sure but Majima did the same thing, kinda loses its luster when its done twice in the same game
>Persona 3 Reload.
thankfully that's a day 1 gamepass game so I don't need to shell out too much for it
He'll go into recession in the next game. Don't worry, they've got stories for years and do not have the balls to retire him.
Will he marry or have a relationship with Kaoru though, now that she's back.
doubt it
can't remember where but there was an interview with yokoyama a while back where he was asked about kaoru and sounded baffled when he realised that people actually cared about her, because to him, she was just some woman
I wouldn't be surprised if that scene in the trailer is her only scene and it's just to say 'no yeah we totally remember her haha :)'
I want the RPG combat to not suck but here we are. Essence spam 2: hawaiian boogaloo
>The final boss fight happens in Maui as it burns
Culturally insensitive.
>Ichi and the villain set aside their differences and decide to help the people of Hawaii through the power of friendship

you're probably going to get Saeko for the tutorial and then when Ichiban spills his spaghetti and proposes, she'll leave your party.

Datamine confirmed:
Chapter 1 and 2 are Ichiban exclusive
Chapter 3-7 are Ichiban main and Kiryu secondary
Chapter 8 is Kiryu exclusive
Chapter 9 is Ichiban
Chapter 10 is Kiryu
Chapter 11 is Ichiban
Chapter 12 is Kiryu
Chapter 13 is Ichiban
Chapter 14 is both
>DLC trophies
that means you won’t be able to 100% the game on Steam without the Deluxe edition
It is the same on steam. You can platinum Lost Judgment without owning Kaito Files.
>You can platinum Lost Judgment without owning Kaito Files.
Really? I wouldn't know because I bought the Judgment Collection which comes with Kaito Files. I just assumed you would be stuck at 80 something percent without doing Kaito Files.
how much of a nerd do you have to be to care about video game trophies?
The Kiryu chapters better be fricking kino. We know at best there's a bit where he goes to a village and fights Daigo, Saejima and Majima along with the party.
?si=TVRfBvqPRonLZoJN
Cutscene at the end showing Kiryu singing at the Survive bar and interacting with the gang.
That scene of Kiryu singing is going to be really fricking funny in the dub since we know what the English version of Judgement sounds like. Imagining Yong Kiryu trying to hype people up and then it cuts to him confidently going
>WE'RE BREAKING THE LAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
with the autotune and all is going to be too funny to watch and I can't wait to see a clip of it.
>kashiwagi survived
>fricking lau ka long survived
>expecting they have the balls to kill kiryu
roru, rumao
don't forget richardson survived falling like 20+ floors from the ruff
actually somehow that's LESS moronic than lau ka long surviving this
I genuinely wonder how mad fans are going to be knowing Richardson survived when the datamine showed that Mine isn't in the game at all, meaning he probably didn't
Why do Japanese idealize pornbawds so much?
Anon, America is suffering right now and you are criticizing Japan for doing what is right.
>Ban on swimsuits in Japanese games
>Game is filled with swimsuits
it's a beach in Hawaii, how do you expect people to dress?
>Datamine confirms Machine Gun Kiss is going to be in 8
Not looking forward to hearing the Yong cover
looking forward to hearing the (japanese) adachi one again
I don't think they'll kill him, but seeing how this game is going to work story wise (with the bucket list thing for Kiryu) I don't really know how could they bring him back in a prominent role in the future.
I'll be happy if he just finishes his story here and goes back with his family. He can act as a side character/advisor along with Majima, Saejima and Daigo for Ichiban and whoever he befriends in the following games.
Wise old mentor who's too old to fight anymore and Ichiban visits him for advice.
Ichiban's going to be 50 in the next game, he should be on the advice giving side at that point
Do we know anything that happens with Saeko? She seems to spend most of the game with Kiryu, along with Zhao, Nanba and Seonhee.
After playing Yagami's games, I want them to go full kungfu movie with a loose cannon cop. I want a Jackie Chan police story.
I assumed the villains would be that weird cult looking guy and the seiryu guy. They've seemingly being really coy about what Jo is up to.
kek, Yagami is also like 35 in LJ. If they make another one, he'll be nearly 40.
>only 30
IT'S HIS TIME
Yagami keeps getting older but the highschool girls stay the same age. weird haha
just watched a trailer, Ichi is just so goddamn loveable
Turns out it is penile cancer and transitioning cures it.
Not like Kiryu uses his penis anyway
Judgment 3 never
>love yakuza
>love jrpg
>hate 7 gameplay
sad life man
Do we know yet if 8's system is going to have more depth or is it the same basic turn based system ?
turbased but Kiryu's limit break looks like traditional Yakuza
Essentially, they've made early and midgame much easier, endgame remains to be seen.
>but at least on Playstation you can "platinum" games without owning the DLC
Your account will still say like 87% despite having the platinum. Steam is the same way where you can get base game 100% achievements since they're just matching the Playstation trophy requirement. Xbox is also the same way because it lists 1000/1450 GS or whatever amount the DLC adds even if you don't own the DLC.
Well, if you use the demo unlocker mod you can raise characters to 99 so base game probably lets you get to 99 now instead of needing the DLC.
>Your account will still say like 87% despite having the platinum. Steam is the same way where you can get base game 100% achievements since they're just matching the Playstation trophy requirement. Thanks for the clarification. I think DLC trophies/achievements just shouldn't be a thing.
So if they keep Ichiban as the protag moving foward, who will be his Maijima equivalent?
Tomizawa
The lil chud himself, Kume
I agree with someone in a previous thread who said it'll be Yamai
>Rips off Tuxedo.
>Giant Bleach Japan logo tattooed on his back instead of a traditional Yakuza tattoo
>next time he shows up he's super buff and his hair is bleached
KUMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Why did he have such a low detail face despite being a pretty major character?
bc 7 is the ugliest Dragon Engine game and they had to scrape polygons from somewhere I guess to keep the thing from imploding on the ps4
It adds to his depiction as a whiny nobody.
Reminder that all the bosses you've fought so far in the series are secretly alive as daidoji agents and they were laughing their asses off behind the closed door when Kiryu bawled his eyes out
post swimsuit outfits
Should I start Y3 on Hard difficulty to save an extra playthrough, or is it better to just do Normal first?
Just do Hard. Nothing in the game is too bad on Hard difficulty but you might rage a bit at the last couple of coliseum opponents.
The game is tedious as hell so just set it to the easiest difficulty you can stomach and blast through it skipping all the substories and minigames because they're almost all terrible in 3.
Quick question for the Moose
I've played Y0, Judgment , Kiwami, LAD: Ishin, Kiwami 2, Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6 and currently on chapter 10 of LAD: Yakuza
I want to play Lost Judgment next and I read it's the correct way to go but, is there ANY advantage in playing Gaiden -> IW -> LJ instead?
Besides Infinite Wealth taking place after LJ chronologically there will probably be references to LJ in IW. (Mild spoiler image)
Well, going to Gaiden the only thing you'll spoil is like one very minor thing told to you in the first hour-ish of LJ, that's it.
Then I'll probably end up playing the intro to LJ until that part before going to Gaiden lmao
Thanks 4 the info
You don't need to if you just don't read the descriptions of stuff when Judgment stuff does pop up. It's very hard to miss when it happens so when it does happen just don't read what it says and you'll be fine. If you start LJ now you'll just wanna play LJ.
I see
Time is key indeed, that's why I'll better leave LJ for now and enjoy the rest of Y7 before going to Gaiden and IW
You're right on the party thing, I remember in Judgment they weren't even trying to be subtle about it and it worked so well (picrel subtle Judgment spoiler)
>eating out in a modern restaurant
>yagami is there with his leather jacket which is a little dumb but he's a dumb young punk
>normal looking dude with a t shirt and undershirt (maybe its cold out)
>normal looking woman on the left with a coat
>bleached hair guy with a little flashy from the matching jacket and pants but thats not that unusual
>meanwhile, 4th member of the team is a literal fricking ninja with metal armor pauldrons and vambraces and a face mask
this frickin' game man, i swear. lol.
Gaiden was originally supposed to be flashbacks in 8 to explain stuff with Kiryu meaning all the major characters, including Shishido and Nishitani III should be appearing in the main story of 8 as main characters who want to go against Kiryu.
Even's game was fun
Yagami becomes a less engaging character in LJ in my opinion. Ichi is a more interesting character as of now. The one thing Yagami's games get absolutely right though is the "me and the boys" energy, especually in LJ. As fun as the Y7 party is, the synergy doesn't feel nearly as good as the judgement crew.
Chronologically LJ takes place after 7 and before 8, but we have no idea what references (If any) 8 will have to LJ, and Gaiden's references were mostly game agnostic outside of one thing which was Sigiura's description saying he own Yokohama 99 if I'm remember it right.
I don't see why you couldn't play LJ after 8 if you really want it that way.
>anything after 0
0 is good, but it's just some fanfic.
this but with 2
this but with anything before 7
wanking to Saeko
>Yakuza 10.
>All 10 previous playable protagonists come back for a chapter each.
>people treating Gaiden games like they matter at all because there’s a couple of lines of references
Maybe you'll get lucky and Shishido will send an email like Kai Leng since that's about as much as you can hope for
I think the boutique guy in the castle is portrayed by some sort of special guest as well
I remember the guy who ran Charles in the first judgment got a special credit so I guess he was also somebody
Can't wait for RUFF kino
So nice of him to learn Japanese so that he can understand his good friend Kazuma Kiryu.
>bring Ruff Man back
>double down on Mine being dead
truly Yokoyama's mind is unknowable
Didn't Mine got shot a bunch of times before suplexing him off the roof?
No. Daigo activated his dead eye mode and shot the frick out of Ruff and his men
Oh no wait he does get shot like 3 times, but Richardson is literally bleeding out of his mouth so he still got it harder
Mine was shot but Wesker and his buddies got shot by Daigo's coma power more than Mine so if anything Wesker should be dead and Mine should be in Hawaii.
why bother when neither version uses the same voice actor
Chance they kill him off is very low. Would be pretty awkward to have a dead party member in NG+
It would kinda be ass if you spent the entire game leveling him in your party for them to just remove him for the last spurt of the game.
On the other hand it would be in line with JRPGs in general.
Before I played the demo, I was more expecting Kiryu to be the overpowered party member that leaves early and come back later, only to be taken away at the end.
You can still hang out with Haruka in 5's premium adventure, they're fine with making postgames that aren't canon

Seako and Seonhee have Hawaii outfits
Also yes the latter name is how it's spelt now, it's apparently more accurate than Seong-Hui
>trophy for clearing the final chapter is "The Man Who Regained His Name"
They are never letting go of Kiryu.
Should've figured that out when he made an enemy of the Daidoji and lived.
NOT COOL DUDE!? Why did you write the name!? us le hecking epic kyodais do not deserve to be spoiled like this!
Will there be a fishing mini game where you work at Daigo's seed and feed?
There is an actual chance they revive Ryuji instead of Mine.
I think Yokoyama sometimes forgets that the bomb didn't actually explode. How could his body possibly go missing. Did they just leave it up there
My guess is that AKSHUALLY DAIDOJI will be the answer to these questions from now on. With every new entry, I find myself wishing that Ichiban's game was a hard reboot.
>Implying they're not treating Dead Souls as canon.
One of Kiryu's Memoirs of a Dragon might reference it considering there's supposedly a Kenzan and Ishin one.
Gaiden had 2 or 3 Ryuji fakeouts, which seemed really weird considering he had barely been mentioned at all from 3-7
The main story one had soul but they went way too hard in the side content and now I'm scared they just tested the waters for a full return.
He’s 100% coming back to tell a distraught Kiryu to stop being a b***h and become the Dragon of Dojima like he remembers and kick the villain’s ass. Basically:
>LET THE LEGEND COME BACK TO LIFE
I never finished 7, yet I still want this.
Frick.
finish 7, you got two weeks to do so
Guuuuuuuuuuuuuh. Trying to remember where I even was. It's been two years. According to achievements I'm in the middle of Chapter 9 and maxed out friendship with Adachi...
bros...
>A FRICKING LEAF
Buy it on Fanatical.
GOAT
this is my goat
This guy was a good antagonist but his turnaround in the climax was too sudden imo.
>kills babies because they're an inconvenience to him
>Kiryu saves babies at his own inconvenience
this confrontation was fated to happen...
You know shit’s gonna get crazy if they brought in Daniel dae Kim
This franchise has degraded into a mess equivalent to neo-heisei Kamen rider, complete with its own fricking foundation X.
Difference being Foundation X is more interesting than The Daidoji.
>Can seemingly make any sort of functional Driver and gear out of nothing.
>Have entire trash heaps of Gaia Memories from how many they make.
>Can create Core Medals without even knowing how the various alchemists did it.
>Zeus was almost able to solve death itself, created the MuKaChiri Code Medals and Greeed, created AI, and a whole host of other stuff while also effectively becoming godlike in the process.
>Everything to do with Outsiders.
God this game's like 2 weeks away. I really fricking need to finish 7. I got to like chapter 9 I think so I've got a shit ton left to do.
hey yakuza bros.
You talk to them at survive bar
thank you anon!
Look at the trophy list, you'll have an answer
why did you spoiler me bro
I just say there was an answer, YOU spoiled yourself by looking,
Not cool, you're the one who made me curious to look...
NOT. COOL. DUDE. What in the hecking science do you think you're hecking doing spoiling it for other kyodais like me and him. TOTALLY UNCOOL and TOTALLY UN (wait for it) EPIC. FRICK and FRICK you and your SO. I hope you have swords in your shit cereal.
Sorry i'm not a kid i don't eat cereal.
And if you want to insult someone, go trash the other anon
who wrote the trophy name.
The chemistry with Ichiban, Adachi, and Nanba was great just three lifelong losers still somehow optimistic about the future
this was the best part of 7, especially since they're all living in a closet.
Don't forget Sa-chan. I love the party talks with her being tsun.
was there romantic quests with her in Y7? The fact that Ichi proposed in the trailer threw me off, cause she seemed like another one of da boys.
There's a whole girlfriend system in 7. It's the only way to get Kashiwagi to confirm who he is
oh yeah, I forgot about that, frick 7 had so much going in it it's easy to forget giant game segments
well you were just shoving a dozen bonsais/roses down women's throats so it's not like it was much of a mechanic
I AM GOD GAMER
>Musician Nanba
>Enforcer Adachi
>Hitman Han
What kind of scuffed team did you roll with here? Why those choices? Adachi is terrible on Legend and Enforcer is by far the best on Han so why go with those? Musician Nanba is the most baffling one since Musician has nothing good on it.
He wanted an extra challenge
some people just want to have fun and not min maxing
It's the TFMT man, it's not Normal difficulty.
7’s not fun in any case
TFMT was easy, it's just that the grinding before hand is fricking coma inducing.
>Yokoyama: IW is a happy story
>Yokoyama: I based Kiryu's cancer off my own experiences (still alive btw)
>it's still technically an Ichiban game
oh my god is Kiryu going to make it!??!?!?!?!?
I never thought he was gonna die just that cancer was gonna be the excuse for him to live out in retirement and the Daidoji being FORGIVENESS PREASE and let him go
663331830
Want a cookie?
The Yakuza series went down the same path as Ace Attorney
>protagonist's story is concluded (Yakuza 2/T&T); no idea what to do with them now
>want to make a new story with a new protagonist (Yakuza 4/AJ)
>execs: NOOOOO YOU HAVE TO INCLUDE KIRYU/PHOENIX!
>now each series is stuck with them forever
>get around this by making a spinoff without them (Judgement/GAA)
yeah but Ichi is more likeable than I AM FINE Apollo
It ain't a Yakuza game without Kiryu.
Why the FRICK does Kaito in the lost judgement dlc play better than Kiryu in gaiden?
Why didn't Kiryu just Tiger Drop the cancer?
You know that's exactly what's going to happen at the end.
This is pretty clearly going to be Kiryu's send off game. He finally let go of his Yumi addiction and that one trailer made it seem like he was going to go around and meet pretty much every relevant character in the whole series. They're bringing back Kaoru after all this time and even having him meet Kashiwagi
Yep, whatever happens to him in this game, the bucket list is a really obvious sign of Kiryu not being back as a protagonist in Yakuza 9.
If Kiryu and Sayama get married in that church at the end of the game, I can finally die in peace.
>literal developers of the game: oh shit what's happening in Ichiban's story again I've been in the Kiryu kino mines for too long
yeah I'm thinking we're back
IW is looking pretty good.
Anybody else getting bad performance on the IW demo? Hawaii is absolutely fricking melting my pc, but it runs gaiden perfectly.
Is 7 worth playing? From what I remember of it the actual combat was really basic and got repetitive really fast.
There's one difficulty spike but you could watch a movie of the game with all cutscenes on youtube if you don't have the money
Don't grind in your original save file to beat the True Final Millennium Tower, NG+ on Legend difficulty and do it after that playthrough.
just youtube it, the combat sucks, the story's even worse, and the main side minigame is just watching bars go up for 6+ hours
it's a movie game who the frick cares for the gameplay here. It's the same spam but instead of xxxyy spam it's an assigned skill button spam. The only yakuza which still directly punishes facefricking mashing approach is 3 and look where it took it
>movie game
Nice meme
This is not Uncharted or The Last Of Us, this game has gameplay
Zero and k1 punish mashing a lil bit, you can't press your strong attack if the queue is full of basic attacks. Yes it makes sense. No I didn't like that.
I think the combat is borderline awful because none of it feels thought out well. That being said, you can mostly coast through the game pretty easily. Just never interact with the post game dungeon, it's absolute dog shit.
So this isn't gonna be on gamepass I assume
Why wouldn't it be on gamepass
I heard somewhere that it wasn't
I mean they didn't put Judgment or Lost Judgment there either
No, it might be in 6 months but not immediately.
SEGA did day 1 for Gaiden to sell copies of 8 and is doing it for Persona 3 Reload so they can pack Persona 6 with DLC and get more people to buy it on release. 8 is the payday of offering all the other Yakuza games on game pass.
nishiki/ichiban's voice actor is more skilled than kiryu's
But did he EARNED Kiryu?
In general I think Ichiban is just a way more likable character than Kiryu is.
you're entitled to your opinion anon, but to put it simply, you're frickin' wrong
ichi is instantly more endearing that kiryu because he's allowed to have actual character while the writers for kiryu wrote him more like a self-insert straight man and any emotional moments he did have usually came out of thin air
and kuroda couldn't carry the emotional kiryu like he could the stoic one (back then when 3 was coming out, he's clearly gotten better with gaiden)
>Ten years in the joint made you a fricking pussy
>Eighteen years in the joint made me a DQ-obsessed schizo
25 years in the joint made saejima a pedo
Kiryu pulled up some real emotions lately. Plus young Kiryu of 0, or extra depressed y5 Kiryu, or sassy Kiryu from y7g all sound rather different. Nobody needs solo guitar skills from the bassist doing his job just fine.
Okay here's a question, do you guys think there's any japanese voice performances that are bad in these games?
It's hard to think of one myself that's in main story. If we count side stuff then you can easily just say the kids in the first ono michio substory
Where's Sosuke
Does Ai Uehara count as a voice performance
Not particularly. My hot take is that Kuroda has awkward line delivery sometimes, but it's mostly contained in the hostess mini games throughout the series. Not the main story, but almost none of the porn actresses can voice/act.
that awkwardness gives Kiryu his charm though, especially when he had to voice the goofy substories in Y6. it was a highlight of the game for me.
?si=p3_buZS5qvy7nsgY
So did the ending get leaked in that datamine?
Yeah, Ichiban dies of cancer and Kiryu abandons the orphanage again.
This better not be true or I'm not buying the game.
Why does kiryu have that fricking hair
hes in disguise
yes that is the actual reason
I was thinking it was a wig and that he lost his hair from chemo, but he was already sporting that hair at the end of Gaiden so I guess it's just a dumb disguise.
Why did they have the glowies grab him and nuNishtani?
one of them is a gay rapist and the other is a traumatized victim of the gay rapist and the glowies are homophobic
It's probably a slightly better attempt at a disguise. Remember the Daidoji gave him some glasses and a name extremely similar to Kiryu and thought that would somehow work in Gaiden. They're pretty shit at being incognito.
Daidoji is gonna be the excuse they give when they start bringing characters back from the dead en masse. They're just testing the waters right now.
>Nishitani wakes up like a cat in heat and rapes Shishido
Now I know why his eyes bugged out when the daidoji said they'd keep each other company.
>kawaii uguu drawing of a dude who raped and tortured someone
fujoshits are mentally ill
You've been told that you're wrong but you keep pushing it, only listening to those who agree with you. Japanese speaker here, btw. You got it all completely wrong and have been corrected, and yet you still use your own bias to justify your views. Yes, you being personally triggered by this line because of what had happened to you IS a bias. I'm sorry that you had to live through something like this, but stop pushing your beliefs on a RGG character. RGG is not subtle like this. If it was what they truly meant — they would've given us concrete proof. As it is, Shishido was just taunted.
I don't know what you're on about but gay rape is based and they obviously wouldn't explicitly show something like that.
So early on the party is
>Ichiban
>Kiryu
>Eric
>Chitose
And at some point in the story Kiryu goes back to Japan and teams up with
>Seonhee
>Nanba
>Zhao
>Saeko
While Adachi and Joon Gi go to Hawaii with Ichiban?
You see Joon Gi in Japan with Kiryu and Nanba in Hawaii with Ichiban so they'll switch at some point.
How many chapters total, about 15?
14
He literally has inoperable lung cancer and half of the game's plot is him doing things on his bucket list, so you're getting your wish.
I do really like the new karaoke songs, is his one from 7 also in or what?
>Komaki and Kiryu bumping fists
It's so fricking over Kiryubros.
He's just passing on the lessons he learned from Kenshiro.
>probably the final komaki encounter
>trapped in turn-based hell
I hope that guy does a brawler mod for 8 too, it should be a lot easier than 7
>Fight starts
>Kiryu get's an unlimited amount of his brawler mode for the fight
Would be too kino.
>Komaki dies offscreen
Its over...
I wouldn't mind if they brought his grandson back.
Kiryu is not actually dying, that's giving yokoyama too much credit
I don't think he's going to actually die in 8 but he'll be effectively retired.
Have they revealed how tiger drop works in the rpg system? I'd assume it's a taunt and counter stance.
It's just part of DoD's basic combo when you do a basic attack. I think it's the part that requires a QTE?
Well that's kind of disappointing.
Here, booted up the demo quickly for you. It's the final part of his basic combo in DoD.
I can't remember if it was the threads at launch or an interview with Yokoyama but I definitely remember seeing something about Ichiban having a fight planned but they cut it. Might have been someone who datamined Gaiden. I assume it's because it would just feel weird to throw in there after the final boss.
Nah that’s not it, it’s in the essence of Komaki pupil move. That’s just his basic combo string from 6
You're probably right but the way he does the punch looks the exact same as a Tiger Drop counter since it's the same instant straight jab.
looks like it, just the old slow guy with cancer variant.
8’s looking like a mess, honestly
8's music is looking like a mess, honestly
not joking, synthetic/electronic tracks fricking suck dick in comparison to earlier games
Gaiden really had an awful soundtrack too
I may just be easy to please but I'm into most of them, even the hawaii battle theme, though the majima theme I think is too much for even me
Haven't listened to them since one of the uploaders got their channel taken down, I'll check it out again on release
Yeah that's another reason why counting side stuff is pretty easy, anything from the AV actresses are pretty not great
This may be direction but I kinda got tried of hearing Kiryu in 6 with everything being voiced. He talks pretty slowly and does this really noticeable inhale
>tfw this made me remember they followed up on wailing warrior with a shitty lofi track
I can't wait to actively have to suspend my disbelief while the entire cast goes to Hawaii and not a single one of them speaks English for the full 60 hour game.
cmon they've done engrish gags in a bunch of games, no way they waste this opportunity for kiryu to sputter some bad english awkwardly.
great to see that these chucklefricks are also in kenzan
This and the NIPPON NUMBAH WUN speech at the end of the game were the highlights of that game. For some reason I didn't expect to see them at all in the game.
UFO-sama is still my favorite substory of the entire series.
Bros...
>kashiwagi joining in
that's the stuff
Kuroda nails this song. lmao @ yong
have you heard the fricking chinese dub version? dude's got the exact same vocal chords as kuroda
yong gets shat on in every language
damn that sounds great, i could play the game like that i don't really like chinese cadence. something tells me Sega went out of their way to find some talent unlike how they treated amerifats.
>Seonhee getting everyone pumped up and joining in
Best girl.
>Cuts to Kashiwagi with a blank expression hitting a tambourine
Kek.
Shill
Most of Kiryu's content seems to revolve around him meeting up with characters from the past.
Maybe they didn't want to alienate newcomers to Gaiden
>who's that weird bushy haired dude
Gaiden is the worst possible game to start the series with.
I still remember Bioware telling people you could start Mass Effect at 3 no problem.
plenty of 0 content stands on older knowledge shoulders and that stopped no one.
Thanks EA.
You still see Ichiban at the end of the game and he's talked about a lot in gaiden.
I am mad I got blueballed on that fight again but I also understand the post Omi HQ content is a mood killer and at least 2 more chapters of work.
The Omi HQ was the perfect climax for the game, anon. After all, 7+Gaiden has ended up being the true Yakuza 7 we didn't get initially and that you need to play to fully understand everything.
Besides I think it would have been weird to see or animate Ichiban and his bros fighting in the classic beat em up style.
they made another one already???
they've been making this one for like 5 years
Gaiden was a DLC that they turned into a short game.
Kiryu was done after 3. They just keep dragging his corpse out every game, despite having zero character development or personality. He's so fricking boring.
Ichi was such a breath of fresh air as a protag for this series it isnt even funny.
to be fair kiryu is very pro free love
why'd he ran away from those trannies in the older games when they began chasing him around to pin him down and frick him in the ass if he's so open to the idea?
when they say kiryu is a virgin they are referring to his pristine butt orifice.
he said he'd frick anything with 2 legs, not that he'd get fricked by anything with 2 legs
c'mon anon, it's right there!
yakuza is so troony friendly they had to censor the remasters
okama typically used for crossdressers, which has a long history throughout the world. chopping your dick off is, relatively, new and probably not the intention of okama. idk how it's used now, but okama knew they were men but had the soul of women. It's in virtually every japanese media dealing with their red light districts. It's a shame they were forced to cut it out but for real, those were some really bad substories because the running minigame sucked. I did not miss them.
i wish people would get sued for making fanart like this
it brings absolutely nothing to the table
meanwhile, shit like this
at least does something funny that you could see being part of the actual series
So since Ichiban's the charismatic wacky one and Kiryu's the stoic one with a time stopping ability of sort, modders are gonna replace Ichiban with Sonic and Kiryu with Shadow within what, a month?
Y5 sucks
speaking from experience?
The frick y'all talking about? The Man Who Erased His Name was 10x better than that fricking piece of shit turned based Like A Dragon bs.
Nah, it sucked.
>beat em up game from a studio that knows more about beat em ups
>better than a brainless jank JRPG
What a shock
continuing with turn based is probably due to the high amount of women in japan buy the games. it's easier for them, japanese like dragon quest, etc.
The cancer plot is most likely solely to justify turn based combat with him. Don't know if that makes it better or worse
the datamined kiryu model looks like he lost 40 lbs of muscle, I would say that's probably the correct guess, otherwise he wouldnt' need to team up with 2 women and a frumpy homeless guy.
I can imagine Seonhee being good with a knife but I imagine outside of his imagination, 90% of the fighting will be him and Zhao.
Seong-Hui is a trained Jingweon if I remember right so she knows how to kill people.
She'd be a great Assassin with her ability to do the old seduce and throat slit but she's a skinny lady so probably not actually that good in straight up brawls outside of imagination fighting parity.
I'm surprised they used Dragon Quest, which is owned by square instead of a Rpg owned by Sega, like Phantasy Star
Because Jap's fricking love Dragon Quest to the point SE started releasing them on Friday to stop kids from skipping school for it.
In the ending of Gaiden when you see Ichiban and all fighting in the background she's beside Zhao squaring up to some dudes.
That's Saeko and she's just cheering the guys on.
She's not, she's got her fists up in a fighting stance besides Zhao. and Saeko is seemingly hanging around with Zhao and Kiryu for a lot of the game.
I hope this time it's actually the return of Mack.
>who else could be substory ones?
the one and only
I feel like they're possible given how they've brought these guys back multiple times. But I feel like of Yakuza 2 substories, we're probably getting Il Yu-jin as one.
They did already bring the baby gang back for LaD anyway.
I mean we already know he's there, we saw him in the trailer as a poundmate.
>Kiryu substory
>Initially breaks into a fight but in the end they settle their differences like men and shake hands.
They had him in 7 and one of the trailers has him looking at the photo of the two while you hear him talking.
Oh shit akimoto-kun is coming back
>The kid in the backpack in the trailer isn't Haruto like people assume it is
>It's Akimoto and Mizuki's child that they named Kazuma to thank him for keeping them together.
>Somehow we still get a mission where one of them is about to kill themselves.
What backpack kid?
In the bucket list trailer, there's a shot of an elementary schooler's backpack with a little Ono Michio patch on it. Some people assume it's Haruto
Oh yeah, that makes more sense rather than my theory of it being the doctor from the first 3 games
Y6 resolved a lot of them, unless their doing them over again, I can't think of that many.
Pocket Fighter's story was resolved in 6, but he's already confirmed to be one from the trailer. So whether the "story" of the substory is over doesn't seem to matter.
probably some more ono michio bullshit. The Taichi thing might also fall under a substory
I know Yokoyama hates Yakuza 3, but no way in hell would Taichi be considered a sub story character. He's probably going to be a main character one as a surrogate for the entire orphanage.
Yuya and Kazuki still need to get the club back.
Even though they only showed up in substories from 4 onward, Yuya and Kazuki are still technically "main characters" given they have some level of relevance in 1, 2 and 3.
Going by the trailers they did. The ending notes one has Yuya throwing some guys out of stardust.
I just want one last side mission with pocket circuit bro before Kiryu kicks the bucket.
>Tsuruno will forver be stuck in Gaiden
Lame, I liked him.
>play Ishin
>scrape together some masterwork sword finally with 1100 attack so the enemies stop being damage sponges
>third tier of battle dungeon, the sword deletes their armor in one hit but does frickall damage otherwise
okay then, I guess I need some stupid cards
I'm surprised you even made it past tier 1 without good cards considering the damage sponge bosses at the end of it.
Did you make it through this part without getting emotional?
lmao what a loser crying about some prostitute and a fatass
Ayako isn't a prostitute, the other Morning Glory girls learned to not be a prostitute like Haruka.
Haruka isn't a prostitute, she just has a cream pie fetish.
>Taichi became a firefighter inspired by Kiryu to protect people
>Infinite wealth trailer shows him at a hostess club with about 6 b***hes around him
Truly, he was the best orphan.
I hope Taichi is a poundmate and we see a super imagination full powered ultra flying taichi kick.
This honestly fricked me up. What fricked me up even more was the moment Kiryu is shown Haruto's drawing.
why's his head so big
What the frick is the vtuber plot going to be
THAT SHE'S A MAN BAYBEE
>My homie Akiyama is back
>He's only going to briefly show up and then become a summon
Frick you RGG
>Jo has been larping as a vtuber this whole time
The vtuber is probably going to be what causes the catalyst for Kiryu and Ichiban to split up and send Kiryu back to Japan.
Can Haruka even be redeemed after 6? Will they even try or is she just going to have like 5 spoken lines again?
>Will they even try or is she just going to have like 5 spoken lines again?
Silly anon, Haruka given less screentime IS how you redeem her!
kek they got another influencer for a trailer
https://twitter.com/RGGStudio/status/1745173816345526452?t=MAZ0C-BI5L8Q6eT1IRunFg&s=19
at least he's not in the game
Why cant they just release the game right now?
>Akame will never come back
>Will never get jumpscared by "JORYU" again
IT'S NOT FAIR
>RGG studios making Kiwami 1 and looking at the majima content vs the non-majima content
I just finished 4. When does Majima get to be entertaining again, instead of dour and standing around in the background for two scenes
Sorry anon, you lose crazy off his rocker Majima for good post 3
If you're expecting the kind of Majima from 0 to 2 then you're not getting that. After 2 is when they tried to make him an actual character instead of Japanese Joker, and when he does do the Japanese Joker stuff it's mainly just to instigate fights he's gotta deal with anyway.
Majima doesn't have to be over the top anymore now that he has his bro back, he can be himself again.
>tfw still no Majima spinoff set in the period Kiryu was arrested in Y1
Like a dragon gaiden 2 starring majima
He'll be in a wheelchair by then
I'll take it.
Do we get a QTE to punch Mirei?
Why doesn't Kuroda just speak English?
you'd still have to rerecord the dialogue so it doesn't have yong yea's amateur inflections
How many clips do you need to manufacture a full deepfake voice with its own inflections anyway?
I don't know how much it actually takes to make a quality model, still so far, the only good one is the RE4 remake Ada replacement one. No idea how much they needed to do that, but the end result completely decimates the new actor's performance and it's not even close.
Usually it only takes like 15-30 seconds of audio to do a simple one for TTS. There's also direct dubbing, which isn't quite there yet. It's fun to mess with, but the AI needs more time in the oven.
Where's the grand strategy game where we play as Daigo and frick everything up
In the "Case of emergency" glass
Why are they releasing a game that takes place during Summer on a tropical island in the bumfrick of Winter Season?
Japan is in the southern hemisphere so it's summer there right now
Winter game slot was taken by Gaiden
I miss when the music wasn't all dubstep shit
?si=UFkl02g8E3N-S6SS
Saw a post claiming this was made for Monkey Ball then RGG just shoved it into Yakuza 5 since it wasn't used.
it's too bad naganuma's too busy being autistic on twitter and left sega so he doesn't do based yakuza tracks anymore
I mean he did mysteriously go quiet for a month before the JSR reboot got revealed so small hope he got hired for that and got told to shut his mouth.

This one should be brought back as the vs Majima theme.
i want to play kurohyou but i want to wait until the cabaret club stuff gets translated. song is awesome.
It's a shame you'll usually kill everyone before the part at 1:19
who Asked for this? https://youtu.be/1_o8u2Wq-QM
who the frick is that fat Black person?
some rapper friend i dont know. Hes famous for being famous probably, I know he talks to drake and such.
I just replayed LaD 7 and remembered that Saeko has no actual reason to join the party. She just wanted to be around Ichiban and risk her life
wasn't she worried about her twin sister
that's her drink link story, in the main story at best it's "my coworker that I don't particularly like got killed in a conspiracy and I was curious"
They're only doing it for the marketing. Their cards are legitimately all garbage and worse than Cs in actual use. Their only purpose is to throw on a random deck for passive stats.
Guys, I'm gonna be honest here, listening to the leaked karaoke tracks for 8... Zhao's English actor unironically improved the new karaoke song compared to the JP actor....
>they use fricking nyanners and other random nobodies who barely even played any of the games in the series to promote future installments before they use that (devilleon7) dude whose been autistically into the series before they were even translated and helped get others into the series long before any of this
where the frick do their priorities like? this has to make you seethe at least to some degree knowing you basically gave them free marketing and they won't even acknowledge you but instead go with some nobodies that contributed nothing to the overall attention the series got.
did this even achieve anything?
no. ishin remake sold like shit.
Hit Gamepass quick and I bought the OP card unit DLC despite gamepassing it because it was so boring and I wanted to check it off already.
hes shy because hes gamer so he doesnt have the balls to do anything drastic. He wouldnt kyoani sega.
These people reach a wider audience. Their target isn't you, you're gonna buy the game regardless. They want the built in fanbase these people have.
>you're gonna buy the game regardless
I'm not. 6 was the last one I bought and played in the series. I'm not supporting any of their shit from now on but I still want to just follow and see what they end up doing with the characters so I'll just watch the cutscenes online.
I'm being brutally honest here, he's not pretty enough to have his face in the game
he's pretty fricking pale for an arab
Arab’s are really diverse when it comes to skin colour
Race obsessed Americans don’t know this
I stopped watching his channel after he starts shoving his fugly face. ecelebs really can't help themselves
watching a bit of some of his stream. dude can't help himself to constantly fence sit and shit cause he's afraid of getting cancelled or saying something to anger the usual crowd of trannies or whatever.
it was really hilarious that literally everyone was shitting on yong on twatter meanwhile he was going 'uh yikes what a mess that dub is. the harrassment though uh, not a good look.' Slimy little homosexual.
idk how it's considered harassment when you just tell the person honestly that they're shit at their job cause they are. if anything, it's actually encouraged if they couldn't help but act like a narcissistic homosexual about it and be like "yeah my work is so amazing lol im so great!"
Saw his tier video and he died for me. "Haha rubber dame dame blockuza amirite my beautiful patreon patrons?" Jesus F. Christ if you got burned out on the games it's alright to let it go dude
SIXTEEN DAYS
>tfw kind of want to play the english dub for date, danny trejo and ichiban
>but don't want to listen to fricking YOOOOOOOOOOONG for the whole game
I'll never understand why they hired him
YONG OUT
>Kiryu starts b***hing about microtransactions
Sega of america is obsessed with ecelebs.
So how do Kiryu's heat actions work in the RPG format
Skill moves.
They use MP. Essences are what traditional Heat Actions are while the rest of the regular attacks could just be considered weapon attacks or random abilities you'd get like bounding throws.
With how over the top and goofy the newer yakuza games are, I hope they bring back 3's sillier revelation/IF7 heat actions like essence of smoking, essence of pole dancing, and essence of rolling.
>combat still shit
>story is a nothing burger
Yup, that’s a skip from me
