My bad but yeah, this series is forever cucked because of Americans. The Yakuza I loved is long gone.

Asking for script advice from fricking American and European localizers is a way bigger than what happened in the remasters. Like you can't even make the "just learn Japanese, bro" excuse as to avoid criticism

It's not particularly noteworthy. In an interview after DQXI came out, Horii was talking about how he was going to ask the Americans for help with naming the characters next time because he liked all of their changes so much. Japan is over.
>Already making excuses to justify your consooming
I would respect you even more by saying that you don't actually care and you just want to buy the new product.
So, is there any example of wokeshit dialogue/stuff/whatever that you got in this game? People on the localizer/Japantimes thread are outraged about but they never give an example about what kind of wokeshit that you get in this game while you guys are talking about the game like nothing happened
Because localizers are working with the devs from the start, they are able to shoot things down as soon as they crop up.
As a result, anything risque was removed early on in the development process, leading to a safe and neutered game
Ah shaddap companies like Capcom did the same shit in the past, then it backfired and then they reversed course. Same shit will probably happen here since people enjoy Yakuza because it’s so Japanese

Considering Kiryu is shrivelled up, he's likely going through intense chemo which plays into the themes of pushing forward. He's going for a LINAC procedure (You can see the display on the wall.) which is a machine that targets cancer so we'll likely see him in the future akin to Kashiwagi but his story is over.
in Yakuza 9 they're gonna reveal Kiryu's secret son, Soryu, who looks, sounds, and acts exactly like him, who he had with a woman who has never been mentioned in any game ever before but was actually super important to him the whole time
Honestly, I wouldn't put it against them to pull some bullshit out of their ass like having the Amon clan cure him of his ailments and get him into tiptop shape like ain't shit happen.
If they're this unlikely to throw out Kiryu, then I see them pulling asses to make him still viable.
No they do that all the time anyway and just never acknowledge it in the plot. It's to nerf Kiryu enough to justify him needing a team when 5 had him casually 1v100 people.
Enemies still move a bit much for my liking but it seems they've done stuff like making sure area attacks are consistent with the indicators
I've seen what looks them quickstepping out of it but nope they get hit anyway
So when do I unlock ways to make shitloads of money? I assume that's the Island?
That's probably right
there'll likely be a high pay casino somewhere as well
I had the biggest fricking smile on my face when Saeko agreed to the date and Ichiban started hugging and dancing around with the homeless people. Made me remember why I loved the previous LaD so much. Excited to play more tonight, I really just love hanging out with these characters.
id rather them be freinds than lovers. Its Weird because there wasnt any shine to her in yakuza 7. it also feels like ichibans whole romance thing for saeko was sprung up just because of adachi and nanba saying that to egg him on.
>ask her out for a date >sperg out because Ichi spent 20 years in the can >lol let's be friends lmao >get's ghosted for a year
god i hate w*men so fricking much
to everyone saying the ending with Kiryu giving the speech to Ebina, LMAOO if you never experienced something similar to Ebina and how he felt, you would never get what that speech Kiryu gives him at the end means the key elements are there but someine like you can't feel it because you never experienced get fricked
Is there anything essential I should know about the kiryu gaiden game going in? I don't want to play any more kiryu games but I'm gonna get this Ichiban game for sure. I wouldn't even ask if Kiryu weren't a main party member this time.
it's not even the combat for me, it's how they copy pasted everything at the beginning from the beginning of the first one and the boring ass way everyone is forced back into action. Should have just dropped you in Hawaii and explained how you got there later.
I know Ichiban fricked up big time with the proposal and all that, but Saeko ghosting him was still brutal after all they went through. He was still like a middle schooler when it came to love and dating so it's obvious he was gonna frick up, it's weirder to me that she didn't know that after all the time they spent together.
Ichiban has as many admirable qualities as pathetic ones, that's his whole thing. Anyone who was ride or die with him for an adventure then spent 3 fricking years hanging out with him would know that by now.
well yeah but most of that still doesn't matter for some women. the moment you do something that in their eyes, make them lose respect for you or see you as lesser than the best they expect from someone, they don't give a shit about you anymore
>battles now tell you if the enemy will be weat against/resist an attack you chose, even with enemies you haven't beat before
If anyone struggles in points in this game it's all on them
It was either elec or ice people didn't have, there was also enemies having resistance to physical so you needed coverage with one of the few raw element attacks
Everything is way more clear now and guys like Tomizawa have coverage of all 3 elements so people should be fine
A big issue is that enemies at endgame resist basically everything that's not elemental or physical. Bladed may as well be resisted by every enemy in the game for how rare it is to find anything neutral to it let alone weak, and Gun is such an absurdly niche typing that only Matriarch (DLC), Dealer (Darts Airstrike), and Hitman (Endgame) have it at all. Add onto this that if you don't have jobs in the 16+range or you're in some of the crappier jobs you're gonna be stuck with really poor coverage in general.
Yeah that's how I remember it. Tendo was weak to lightning but resisted most if not all 3 physical so it was 1 or 2 attacks in the entire game that hit the weakness
I'm not far into 8 but that issue seems to have been addressed
Looks like the jobs and extra DLC pack are pack-in bonuses like FotNS' DT DLC and 7's outfit DLC so even if you didn't pre-order the physical copies should have them. Also came with a small poster inside along with the usual sticker.
That's why I opted to just pre-order it in-store at this time since I've been getting screwed over with shipping ever since at least 6's release with the games sometimes being a week after release. Then it turns out pre-ordering anywhere but Gamestop is almost impossible. >Best Buy can only pre-order games in their store if the website says you can pre-order at the store. They for some reason don't have an internal pre-order system, so if the website says they don't ship to the store you can't pre-order it. >Target hasn't done pre-orders for years in-store according to the guy I talked to at electronics. >Walmart is up in the air if they pre-order or not, I couldn't get a clear answer when I called after going to the actual store for the last two.
Which left Gamestop and I was sweating bullets they'd give me a display copy since they've screwed be over multiple times before.
15 hours in, Chapter 4, still no job change yet, but I'm just running around doing side activities...
It's pretty fun so far! Not sure if the enemy levels are really balanced though.
Is it true they brought back my homie Akiyama in this one?
Yes though he doesn't have a major role
>check out the new poker restaurant in Yokohama before leaving for Hawaii >oh cool, and electric bat for a reasonable amount of chips >completely break the early game by getting said bat, which is stronger than anything in the first ten hours or so and turns your normal attack into an AOE
Hell yeah same
Casino prize weapon that's super strong for the time you can get it is a good RPG trope
>check out the new poker restaurant in Yokohama before leaving for Hawaii >oh cool, and electric bat for a reasonable amount of chips >completely break the early game by getting said bat, which is stronger than anything in the first ten hours or so and turns your normal attack into an AOE
Not as bad as i was sold on.
His voice is closer to Kiryu than the PS2 dub guy but he's 20 years too young, the game has worse english actors so play it in jap anyways.
>but he's 20 years too young
This is the biggest issue.
Like, maybe they should have done a surprise dub of Yakuza 0 first with Yong as a test-run for this. I dont the guy wants to destroy his vocal chords like how Hayter had to for MGS4
Not that bad.
I'm still partial to Daryl Hughes since I played the fricky PS2 dub back in the day but Yong does about as good of a job as I'd expect if they had recast Kiryu from the start.
The only issue I have is that he sounds maybe more like a young Kiryu circa Yakuza 0-2 (18-36) and not like the grizzled 60 year old that Kiryu is in LAD8
Overall, good enough. Not immersion breaking or anythin
God I fricking hate Nanba so fricking much. I hate the way he looks at me with a smug fricking look on his face like "Oh you bought this game for 70 bucks?"
Frick you Nanba
>That intro sequence. >Yokohama isn't as eye-blindingly white as it was in 7 or LJ. >Ichiban controls way better than any other character in terms of moving around to the point you can spin on a dime now. >In general looks like their most polished DE game yet.
I really hope they don't swap out of the DE, they finally have it figured out just from those transitions in the intro alone.
why the lighting looks like such crap on the pause menu? there's no ambient occlusion or shadows anywhere on hid 3D model, the light illuminates places it shouldn't even be able to reach.
>go out of your way to make realistic looking game >but can't be bothered to make it look realistic in all other terms >"uhhhh i wish devs were more incompetent like this duhhhhh"
moron.
it's a good game, maybe they can patch it, but western devs make trash games and obsess over making them look as perfect as possible, effectively polishing turds

they did try to polish the shit out of Yakuza 6 though which is why it still looks so good in a lot of places but it apparently ran like shit so their response to that was to just lower every other setting and make it so even when you play on max, it still looks subpar due to consoles not being able to run the game properly with the max settings they wanted.

is there a good comparison review between the different versions?

Are you talking about PC vs. Xbox vs. PS4? Because some Xbox vs. PS4 vs. PS5 comparisons exists but not that many PC comparisons and it's usually against the PS4 or PS5 version.
If you're talking about the various DE versions that's just something you have to play to figure out. K2 losing instant battle transitions and losing a lot of effects while changing how Heat looked, Judgment changed Heat again, Judgment Remastered completely overhauled the lighting and looked worse than Judgment in most respects in my opinion and that's how 7 and LJ would go on to look like, then Gaiden and 8 look to be on a new version of the lighting because it doesn't look much like 7 or LJ. Gaiden especially.
I'd rather go back to stiff and janky Yakuza 3 combat than play another turn based cringe. I'll maybe get IW when it's $15 or there's a rral time combat mod like that WIP one for LAD.
I'm in Hawaii and I've been running around with Kiryu for a while now. When do I get Nanba and Adachi back? Does Saeko join too or much later? I hate having just 1 party member.
you get nanba and adachi back in chapter 7. 3/4-6 is all Ichiban, Kiryu, Eric and Chitose until chapter 8 and Nanba leaves with Kiryu and you're stuck with those 5 til chapter 12
seconding this guy
did anything important actually happen in Gaiden or was it the usual Kiryu shenanigans saying he's gonna get out of everything and comes back anyways?
It pretty heavily relies on you having played at least 3, 5, 6, and 7. It completely spoils 7 entirely multiple times including right at the end where it just explains every twist in 7 in like two minutes.
seconding this guy
did anything important actually happen in Gaiden or was it the usual Kiryu shenanigans saying he's gonna get out of everything and comes back anyways?
>did anything important actually happen in Gaiden
It established the Daidoji far more than 6 did and they're an actual organization now, introduced us to Hanawa and his friendship with Kiryu, showed us the monk is on Kiryu's side, showed us how Kiryu is losing his mind being away from everyone he loves, established Akame as The Florist equivalent in Sotenbori, and we have two characters who should be appearing in future games since apparently they didn't appear in 8.
Some people dislike the story more so it depends on if you like the subject matter or not. Pretty much everything but the substories are a step up over Judgment. >Is Saori in Lost Judgment
Yes, though she feels more like a b***h at times than she did in Judgment.
Those are the loose terms. That's the main subject matter so if you don't find that super interesting you may find it worse than the original. There's other stuff going on in parallel with that subject, but that's the main focus of the game.
Well it's more like I don't mind it than disliking it
Long as it's not too much of a slog I think it should be fine, it helps if the gameplay is good. Any rhythm minigames?
>Any rhythm minigames?
Seiryo Rabbits School Story. It has some good songs, Girls obviously being the best.
>Some people dislike the story more so it depends on if you like the subject matter or not.
I have no idea why some people say this. I personally find LJ’s story to be far more compelling than Judgement’s. Judgement definitely has a good story, but its mystery is pretty predictable if you’re even passingly familiar with mystery genre tropes. The Mole’s identity in particular is extremely obvious.
LJ has a really interesting and unique thematic take on a classic murder mystery though and Kuwana is one of the most compelling antagonists I’ve seen in a game in years— Helped by the fact that Dig In Your Heels and Unwavering Belief go harder than they have any right to. I think the substories are mostly lame compared to Judgement’s substories though.
Also, as good as the combat is in both Judgements, the boss design is horrendous outside of a few encounters. I don’t know why RGG thinks giving a boss an army of mooks is a good idea, especially considering that the best bosses in both games are the 1 v 1 fights.
I liked LJ's story but a lot of people here complained about it both from the aspect of Yagami refusing to acknowledge other arguments that could easily shut everything down, even basic ones, and from the repetition oft he argument.
Honestly, the final boss is one of my favorites.

To be fair on Yagami’s argument, it is a very strong argument since it collateral damage is a very real concern in vigilante justice. Plus, Yagami has mental trauma over letting young women die after what happened in the first game.
I find it interesting because Yagami and the killer are arguably both being hypocrites, just in different ways.

Oh, and the guides from 7 work for Challenge Shogi if you want to do that instead of repeating Puzzle 4 like 50 times.

Sure, but he also could have added onto the argument. Instead he harps on that one very strong point when he can add more from his past into it.
>PS5 controller drifts with 7 and 8 >Doesn't drift with Gaiden or literally any other Steam game >Changing the deadzones and sensitivity does nothing
It's turn based so I'm just dealing with it but this shit is driving me crazy.
This is modern Yakuza, it's pretty much impossible it's missable, and it's almost a guarantee the Big Swell or whatever the equivalent is will be only available in PA so you have to go into it regardless instead of clearing stuff in the main story.
If you're going Kiwami play 0 first
If you want you can emulate the first two and play in the release order. Y1 and Y2 have a certain charm to them that isn't present in later games.
Bros I was suppose to do it but I couldn't...
I wanted to play all of the Yakuza series to be ready for the launch but I am still in the middle of the fricking Yakuza 5 and it's never ending
I already played 7 so at least that is out of my way
so I started playing Yakuza 4 and so far to my surprise the game is good despite some nonsense. The finale must be a complete shit show since other anons warned me of this game
It's more that part 4's a shitshow but the finale makes up for it in coolness
so I started playing Yakuza 4 and so far to my surprise the game is good despite some nonsense. The finale must be a complete shit show since other anons warned me of this game
Legit ruined the ending. It's like they can't find a balance between overly goofy and overly melodramatic. Oh well, Ichiban kind of won in the end so whatever.
Every element of Kiryu in the RPG aspect is extremely nonchalant. When the game separates the two and you're playing as Kiryu, they explain the game is still going to be an RPG by just giving you a popup menu saying "Because of Kasuga, Kiryu also has schizophrenia now"
I wish they would've at least had a cutscene during a battle where Ichiban says something like, "Woah what's with this guy, he's huge!" or something to that effect and then Taxi guy could've just been like, "Huh, what are you talking about?" and then Kiryu could be like "Nani!?" and then had an inner monologue where he was like, "Just for a second he looked like a monster." And that coupled with the message that Ichiban's delusions have rubbed off on Kiryu could've been the flimsy excuse for why Kiryu has the schizo delusions too.
If you didn't speed through everything by mashing X, you'd know that NPC's will have icons above their head that can be used with ALOHA LINKS and the game tells you this plain as day.
Is Freelancer useless in this game like it was in 7? It seemed like it gets big attack boosts compared to other jobs so maybe that's how they balanced it?
Hawaii is really well realized, i really enjoy how they captured the feeling of it being fundamentally different from the Japan locations. Also this tinder minigame has gotten me fricked up, i feel genuinely uncomfortable playing it as someone who has never used a dating app IRL
I'm enjoying it, lot of improvements that should've been there from the beginning
What I want the most is more freedom is how you make your jobs so I'll more have to see on that front
I have accepted the lack of balancing since every RGG game is like this
It's weird how between Gaiden and Y8, they were pushing for Kiryu's big finale, but all Y8 ever does is blueball you from start to finish. What, did they fricking get cold feet?
Kenzan Kiwami happening is something I'm not expecting anymore considering they removed the memory in the western version of 8 which wasn't necessary and they skipped it to remake Ishin which didn't need a remake at all. There's also all the subject matter they'd very clearly have to strip or change which I don't think they want to deal with in terms of a landmine of damage control. They're probably just gonna write it off as having happened and not something they're gonna return to like Dead Souls or the Black Panthers.
Personally, I'd rather see RGGO as an actual game with a full playable Ryuji Gaiden in it. RGGO is the exact same story and characters as the mobile game with a proper ending instead of leaving it open-ended while being JRPG gameplay, and Ryuji Gaiden would be just his story. This would mean they'd need to remake all the maps from 5 in the DE though.
main entry
SEGA went full moron with the marketing for this game since Yakuza and Persona are the only games produced by them that aren't complete flops
the moronic name is a part of that marketing
He's getting one more game at least

That's actually good news then, though I'm still not holding my breath. What's up with that one guy's screenshot with 19/19 then?

>Date and Watase spent atleast 2 years to make the dissolution plan >Watase and his crew had time to plan convoluted plot to take down Kijin clan >Not one(1) person on either family has enough foresight to create a safety net (beside muh company) to help ex-yakuzas that agree to quit
I know Yokoyama has a hateboner for Daigo, but he usually bounces on Watase's wiener
Yokoyama's a severely shortsighted writer. He likes to end his games on either a relatively positive note or at least with a degree of finality, only to walk back on it in the next game. Case in point:
>Y1 ends with Kiryu moving on from the yakuza life and handing off the reigns to a worthy successor. >In Y2, that successor turns out to be a Korean terrorist and Kiryu gets pulled back into the game. However, the game ends with Kiryu finding a second love. >In Y3, that second love flies off to America. Kiryu is now running an orphanage in Okinawa, far away from Kamurocho. >Y4 doesn't really walk back on Y3 too much. Kiryu is now fully comfortable with his past and is last seen welcoming Saejima back into the Tojo Clan. >Y5 starts with Kiryu having left the orphanage and running away from his past again. At the end, he reunites with Haruka. >In Y6, Kiryu goes to jail and is separated from Haruka once more. Kiryu fakes his death in order to protect the kids at the orphanage, meaning he can no longer make showy public appearances anymore. >In Y7, Kiryu just straight up appears in a somewhat showy manner at the dissolution of the Tojo and Omi. The only reason no one recognizes him is because everyone is fricking moronic. Dude just walks around in his old suit as well. As already mentioned, the Tojo and Omi are dissolved, but Daigo has a plan laid out to keep everyone fed. >In Y8, Daigo's plan ends up failing.
Generally, the issue is that Yokoyama continuously writes himself into corners by wrapping each game up in a neat and tidy manner, only to realize when it's time to make the next game that, oh wait, the story needs a fricking conflict. And because he's incompetent at his job, the only way he knows how to introduce conflict into his stories is by destroying everything the previous game builds up.
It's not like they've just met each other, they've been close friends for 3 years, though to be fair he should've at least just said that he wanted to officially date her with marriage in mind and not just straight up propose to her on the first date.
I really hoped it moved on from the cringeworthy adult man protag acting like an anime teenager but it was short lived.
Come to think of it, Ichiban being loved in this place isn't surprising in the slightest.
>Call Kiryu "Taichi Suzuki" in this game >Has an event with someone who literally only knew him as Taichi Suzuki (Nakajima) >it's still another Date talks to the guy while Kiryu listens in event despite Date literally never meeting the guy
Come on
>The Amon of this game is Jo for Kiryu's side, and the gimmick of the fight is you're fighting all of the Amon brothers(Jiro, Sango, and Kazuya) at once >But for some reason Jo uses Shin's model
Surely this was an error on their part, how do you mess that up?
Will there be any sort of continuation of Saeko romance later on in the game, or was Ichiban friend zoned? The main plot is so moronic that this is the only thing I care about at this point.
The ending doesn't have them get together, but there are multiple parts in the story and the ending that show it could eventually happen and leave it open to continue that plotline if people like it.
>Dub gets Patrick Seitz for Yuya of all people
Of all the guys they could use him for? That's a weird choice? As silly as a scene it is, genuinely the "SHEEEE-mano YAH KOO ZAH" guy was the perfect choice for Yuya's personality.
Go out and touch grass, the preorder items are included in every physical edition, at least for this current print.
Just make sure the back of the box has this text.
Kson's EN voice is amazing, unlike that other who sounds terrible voicing as Kiryu. This will be a good opportunity for Kson to become a proper VA, which means more Gundam kits stream

seriously, how the frick was she able to put more energy and talent in that final goodbye song she did as coco but in here, she just complains fricks it up big time? is it just because she's seething she didn't get a role in in main cast of Gaiden like that one other girl did as Akane instead?

i hope they add druski, moist critical and mutahar some ordinary gamers in the next yakuza game so i can hear the defense you homosexuals will make
i like the bowling ball/bowling pin knockback combat now. It was in yakuza 7 but it clearly felt like it was unintential/half-asses. im glad its fully realized in lad8 because its pretty fun to pull off
I don't think you can? I believe it was 1* in the demo as well. As far as I understand it they're weapon tiers. Ichiban's best bat from 7 is now one of the starter ones, essentially.
>Beat Y7 battle arena, go from level 32 to 43, upgrade gear etc >Majima still grapes me

how's the game bros, any Gankererdict yet?
the story sounds kinda shit and like a dragon's gameplay wore thin over the 50 hours i played it, so i've held off on buying it, but if they've improved the gameplay and the side content is fun i might pick up the standard edition.
the cutscene shit in the first chapter was really boring and uninteresting to me but actually playing the game and fighting enemies. I like the combat changes with the whole dragon engine ragdoll physics playing a part in making the combat more complex with its knockback. i cant describe it properly but its more realized in this than 7. if you get the game, Get it on fanatical for 60 dollars instead of 70 and get creamapi for the dlc because sega doesnt deserve a penny for paywalling NG+
I think 8's the first game to finally be made for the current gen systems or at least expecting you to play on them. Tons of these signs aren't even clearly rendering and seem to be intentionally low res while statues are also looking lower res for some reason. Compare it to 7 and LJ. These are all on a PS4 Pro at 1080p. I don't think it's a glitch but who knows.
The thing is the story in yakuza games are completely about taste
I have seen a lot of people who love yakuza 6 story, while another bunch of people hate yakuza 6 story
A lot of people love kiwami 2, others hate kiwami 2, some yakuza fans still hate yakuza 7 for been turn base and the story been about “power of friendship”
If you find the story bad, then okay… the world won’t stop spinning because you didn’t like something
>don't criticize my game, if you do, you're clearly some sort of self centered person who says that because you think your opinion matters enough that everyone should listen to it >just don't complain bro. if it's not to your liking, shut up and move on, lol. nobody cares
why are you homosexuals like this?
i liked lost judgment/judgment story the most because they still felt somewhat grounded and weren't too convoluted (compared to the other yakuza games) The coin locker baby in yakuza 7 is Utterly fricking moronic, but i dont play these games for their stories so im not that bothered by it.
It IS objectively shit writing though.
Yokoyama decided to just completely "forget" the Daidoji even existed in order to writer Kiryu to that specific ending that could not be reached whatsoever due to him still being slave to them.
He didn't even write himself in a corner, he could have found a way to write about that specific issue, but instead he just choose to specifically ignore it and hope the player is too moronic to care about it or won't notice or or whatever.
How the frick can you say such a frickup in writing can be considered "subjective" and up to the person's "taste"? Jesus fricking Christ, you people are legit morons.
>If you find the story bad, then okay… the world won’t stop spinning because you didn’t like something
The world won't stop spinning if you just have a nice day, you worthless Black person. Goddamn, we can't even make fun or shit on a story if it's fricking bad because someone like you almost always want people to stop criticizing things because it might actually deter people from buying this shit. I repeat, you can have a nice day and the world won't stop spinning. Black person.
Yuya definitely makes sense because he's in practically every Yakuza title, he would be like Kiryu's Namba. Date being his Adachi also makes sense. And then if they didn't write Sayama out of 3 onwards, she could be the love interest that's always around. If only...
>Yuya and Date after you first meet them >Some random b***h that never shows up after Yakuza 1 and isn't in any cutscenes >Majima after the final fight in Shangri-la(so near endgame party member) >Florist basically serves as your Fuuka/Rise/Futaba type character in this universe
>Best girl >is a side character to never be seen
Can I live in the reality where she is somehow never apart of judgement and instead in ichiban's party. She would be a cute straight man to ichischizo
>Nanba very awkwardly and loudly slurping on his drink. >Then he starts staring off into space when Ichiban says she walked away.
They're really making me like him way more in 8.
>Autistically refuse to acknowledge that Joryu is Kiryu to strangers, even his closest friends and allies like Daigo and Majima >Casually lets someone like Kasuga that he talked to for less than an hour years ago to acknowledge him as Kiryu
Why is he like this? Did he even introduce himself as Kiryu to Ichiban in 7? I don't remember. but I'm pretty sure he didn't and yet he allowed Kasuga to refer to him as Kiryu in 8.
>Did he even introduce himself as Kiryu to Ichiban in 7?
I just rewatched it. Seong-Hui goes "Nothing gets past the legendary Dragon of----" and then Kiryu cuts her off. That's all that alludes to it. The only other possible thing it could be is in those interim bits that Gaiden didn't show us he told Ichiban who he was, or Ichiban just figured it out based on the whole "Dragon of" thing.
The entirety of chapter 1 is basically a 3 hour long substory. I get it's there to introduce people to the cast but I'm kind of surprised they'd do all this right out of the gate.
4Gamer: >Good day to you today.
I understand that orders for the packaged version of Yakuza 8 have been very strong. We will have to wait and see how users evaluate the game, but first of all, the retailers have determined that the game is "going to be a hit".
Yokoyama: >It is doing well, especially in Japan. Now there are both packaged and digital versions, so it is difficult to compare the number of orders with past titles, but in terms of the number of orders for packaged versions alone, it is the highest in the history of the series. I can say this now, but at the time of "Yakuza 7," the number of orders for the packaged version was incredibly small.
>game they spent shit ton of money to market towards the west via moronic e-celebs sells a lot, especially since you're also advertising it as somehow being a good entry point in the series even if you didn't play anything prior to that
and the moron is going to think they bought it because he just happened to wrote a really amazing story that stuck with people or some shit like that lol
Whose lifelong hero? No one in this game has any reason to idolize Kiryu. Nanba's completely disconnected from that world. Kasuga was in jail for 20 years. He completely missed out on literally everything that made Kiryu a household name. Kiryu went to jail in 1995 and came out in 2005. Kasuga went to jail in 1999, during Kiryu's incarceration.
I mean, yeah, Kiryu was the "Dragon of Dojima" long before Y1, but no one gives a shit about what he did back then. Literally none of Kiryu's feats are ever brought up prior to his incarceration.
>get to actually see arakawa "the assassin" rather than arakawa "the strong-willed individual who cares heavily for his men and his clan's reputation" for once
nice
>got into the POCKET FIGHTER substory >started to cry like a little b***h
I DON'T UNDERSTAND
HOW THIS MEANINGLESS FRICKING SUBSTORY HAS MORE SOUL THAN ANYTHING THAT HAS HARUKA AND THE MAIN STORY INVOLVED
I get it's a Yakuza game but it's insane how long some of the cutscenes are, like the one with Captain Sawashiro at Heian tower felt like a solid 8-10 minute cutscene, but it's a giant info dump, so far that's the longest one I've had, but there are a lot of cutscenes that feel at least 4-5 minutes long unless you're rushing through the dialogue.
I'm only on chapter 3 though, so you might be further than me, if there is like a 15 minute cutscene later on in the game, I might just do something else while it's playing because holy frick.
This made me laugh, they have a "Frickboy" dating profile you can use. I'm having a blast though, almost done with chapter 3...I think? The CRAZY bike minigame was pretty fun, so far everything has been great/funny.
I don't know when you unlock job switching, guess it's in chapter 4? I don't know why you gotta wait so long to unlock job switching because I really want to use some stronger/better jobs, like right now you're kind of stuck with the default class for everyone, but Kiryu is so strong I guess it doesn't really matter.
Lau Ka Long got shot in the head. Through the forehead and out the back, his brains were splattered on the wall. He's fine in Yakuza 7. Literally nobody is off the table, I'm surprised they haven't brought back Reina
easy video recording is one thing that i envy with console players. I record cool clips all the time when im on my switch. But on pc i really dont want to open up sony vegas everytime i want to properly trim stuff.
Listening to the dub karaokes >Only Saeko, Chitose, Zhao and Nanba's actors know how to sing and got the least affected by autotune sabotage. >I can forgive Ichiban's voice because they very clearly made him just have fun rather than be technically good which makes songs like Summertime Groove fun to listen to and the Future I Dreamed Of more cheesy(in a good way). Though his Judgement is actually more autotuned than Yong's which makes me thing the robotic effect was just a deliberate choice they thought would work for the song on both versions, which is dumb >Whoever told Adachi to sing like a younger guy because it's funny needs to be fired(and probably was). >Joongi's actor clearly isn't a singer and also has the worst example of autotune that just makes it even more obvious. >Seonhee's clearly knew how to sing but got sabotaged for no reason(they literally ruin her voice by adding an artificial vibrato effect that is completely unnecessary). >Yong's is just kind of mediocre, ranging from trying too emulate the approach Ichiban's actor took and failing(Pride From Despair, Like a Butterfly and Judgement), sounding really bored(Machine Gun Kiss), or trying and not being that bad at singing but literally just using his normal tone of voice and dropping the Kiryu voice he goes with(Baka Mitai, Tonight, Baka Darou and pretty much all interjections).
also, the translations of all the songs are kind of awkward. But i feel like that's not exclusive to this game, this is pretty much always going to be the case when song translations don't have someone with some experience with music there to make the song flow better.
>and probably was
No, that's intentional. The dub actor even stated on a Youtube video that he did an in character karaoke for 7 and they decided to do the "funny" take where he's not even singing in character because it was "funnier". So it sounds like they did the same in 8.
I gotta agree that the game is a SLOG so far, not sure if it speeds up but the first three chapters are slow as frick, actually the third chapter is a bit better, but the first two are just so slow, kind of hoping after chapter 3 it gets a bit faster paced.
Someone said it's not until chapter 6 but I haven't gotten there myself.
>Chapter 6 to get job switching >Gotta play like 20-25 hours or some shit to get job switching
They bragged multiple times that Infinite Wealth is their biggest game yet, so it makes sense that the pacing is slow. Just getting Ichiban back to hero class is 2 hours.
The English version of Like a Butterfly is so bad, the rap part is so poorly written out that both Ichiban and Kiryu's VA deliver it with different rhythms and they're both off. It's so noticeable too, I don't know how a single person on the localization team listened back to this and thought it was good enough to use.
Just unlocked Sujimon battles I bought the Deluxe edition so using cheat ones that came with it for now. and grinded a smidge since the game warned me of long cutscenes an hour before bed.
Any real reason the DLC Sujimon can't work on the island or be in the Sujimancer class?
CAN SOMEONE FRICKING TELL ME WHEN YOU GET JOB SWITCHING UNLOCKED? Bunch of anons said they haven't unlocked it yet and some are like 10-15 hours in and in chapter 5 or further.
You can look for icons on the map, I think? I know I found a party chat right outside the hotel but there was an icon for it. It's like two hearts or some shit.
It depends on the game
In every game but 7 and 8 you run around open world Japan beating people up
In 7 and 8 you run around open world japan beating people up with turn based paper Mario bing bing wahoo combat
This is from 2009, when transgender ideology wasn't headlining as the next civil rights movement yet. People were still in the live and let live phase.
I hope that now the world has got the chances to see that destructive castration cult for what it is they wouldn't make the same mistake again.
I never played yakuza.
But is that a gangster got into an accident and now dreaming about going on an adventure with a random hobo he saw on the streets
Sawashiro is cool
That's not even the right company dumbass
loved how he was able to go toe to toe with Kiryu
DIE DENUVOSCUM
ANYONE WHOPLAY THIS SHIT IS SUPPORTING DENUVO israeliteS
ALL OF YOU ARE israeliteS
Seethe harder pirate scum
>That's not even the right company dumbass
My bad but yeah, this series is forever cucked because of Americans. The Yakuza I loved is long gone.
The Y3 remaster from 3 years ago removed michiru so you're kinda really late on noticing
Asking for script advice from fricking American and European localizers is a way bigger than what happened in the remasters. Like you can't even make the "just learn Japanese, bro" excuse as to avoid criticism
I would think removing content that was already there in all regions is worse but I guess that's a matter of opinion
It's not particularly noteworthy. In an interview after DQXI came out, Horii was talking about how he was going to ask the Americans for help with naming the characters next time because he liked all of their changes so much. Japan is over.
>Already making excuses to justify your consooming
I would respect you even more by saying that you don't actually care and you just want to buy the new product.
>jews rape a bunch of women in hollywood, causing Metoo
>punish gamers for it
Just said you are mad because of no switch version
So, is there any example of wokeshit dialogue/stuff/whatever that you got in this game? People on the localizer/Japantimes thread are outraged about but they never give an example about what kind of wokeshit that you get in this game while you guys are talking about the game like nothing happened
Because localizers are working with the devs from the start, they are able to shoot things down as soon as they crop up.
As a result, anything risque was removed early on in the development process, leading to a safe and neutered game
I haven't seen any controversial things from the screenshots so far. Still needs to play the game to find out though
There isn't anything controversial, it's all corporate sanitized
Ah shaddap companies like Capcom did the same shit in the past, then it backfired and then they reversed course. Same shit will probably happen here since people enjoy Yakuza because it’s so Japanese
>Only 34,344 Players on Steamdb
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
OHNONONONONONONONONO
THATS WHY YOU israeliteS SHOULDNT PUT DENUVO ON THIS SLOP AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I don't remember. Did the previous game have time limited denuvo or did someone manage to crack it?
Never cracked, they put it on GOG with no DRM
I still need to finish 7
That's literally the highest simultaneous amount of players the game series' ever had, you failed shitposter.
>Baldur Gate 3 : 155,070 In Game
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA EAT MY SHOES DENUVOJEWS
goalpost status: moved
comparatively Yakuza games cost literal pennies to make and in just the span of 1 year we got 3 and judgment games on pc
>its another donating food to the homeless mission
brother I was playing spider man 2
good early game banger
Considering Kiryu is shrivelled up, he's likely going through intense chemo which plays into the themes of pushing forward. He's going for a LINAC procedure (You can see the display on the wall.) which is a machine that targets cancer so we'll likely see him in the future akin to Kashiwagi but his story is over.
>his story is over
hahaha
I think you mean Ichiban's story is over
They're going to use the magic Monster Energy from 7 but instead of being able to walk again it cures cancer :^)
prooof?????????
You people should know better by now
I hope you like Robo Kiryu, Solid Kiryu and Liquid Kiryu
moron
in Yakuza 9 they're gonna reveal Kiryu's secret son, Soryu, who looks, sounds, and acts exactly like him, who he had with a woman who has never been mentioned in any game ever before but was actually super important to him the whole time
He had his son with Kaoru, that's why she's been gone for so long, she's been raising his son in America.
Honestly, I wouldn't put it against them to pull some bullshit out of their ass like having the Amon clan cure him of his ailments and get him into tiptop shape like ain't shit happen.
If they're this unlikely to throw out Kiryu, then I see them pulling asses to make him still viable.
So it's an excuse to reset Kiryu to level 1?
No they do that all the time anyway and just never acknowledge it in the plot. It's to nerf Kiryu enough to justify him needing a team when 5 had him casually 1v100 people.
I like it, the ui changes and proximity stuff makes combat better
Enemies feel like they move less so far
Enemies still move a bit much for my liking but it seems they've done stuff like making sure area attacks are consistent with the indicators
I've seen what looks them quickstepping out of it but nope they get hit anyway
That's probably right
there'll likely be a high pay casino somewhere as well
I had the biggest fricking smile on my face when Saeko agreed to the date and Ichiban started hugging and dancing around with the homeless people. Made me remember why I loved the previous LaD so much. Excited to play more tonight, I really just love hanging out with these characters.
you're not going to be enjoying that for long since the rest of their "love" interactions are played for laughs
id rather them be freinds than lovers. Its Weird because there wasnt any shine to her in yakuza 7. it also feels like ichibans whole romance thing for saeko was sprung up just because of adachi and nanba saying that to egg him on.
>ask her out for a date
>sperg out because Ichi spent 20 years in the can
>lol let's be friends lmao
>get's ghosted for a year
god i hate w*men so fricking much
Yea chapter 2 so just made it to hawaii. Heard most of the stuff is unlocked by chapter 5
So when do I unlock ways to make shitloads of money? I assume that's the Island?
No hostesses on this one, I suppose? So what's replacing them.
Only the partners on the dating app minigame
You can get duds like the telephone club but the hits have FMV girls
Neat.
like a butterfly i cry......
Eri! where are my royalties!
>Eri is a rich as frick CEO that goes around the world getting railed by chad foreigners under the pretends of "marketing the brand"
you projecting your fetish, are you south korean
>under the pretends
Good Lord.
Chitose > Saeko
You take that back
I kinda embrace the english enemies just so I don't have to see the same enemy quotes I've heard a million times across multiple games
Anyone know if substories are missable? A bunch appeared in Chapter 3, so I'm scared to progress the main story.
That hasn't been the case since Kenzan so I'm sure you'll be fine
to everyone saying the ending with Kiryu giving the speech to Ebina, LMAOO if you never experienced something similar to Ebina and how he felt, you would never get what that speech Kiryu gives him at the end means the key elements are there but someine like you can't feel it because you never experienced get fricked
ESL
ichi cucks......
?si=s0hLVXRF20oCnYvb
Is there anything essential I should know about the kiryu gaiden game going in? I don't want to play any more kiryu games but I'm gonna get this Ichiban game for sure. I wouldn't even ask if Kiryu weren't a main party member this time.
Play it homosexual. Gaiden is one of the best games in the series and is short as frick.
Get the gamepass trial for 1 dollar and beat it in 2 days if youre that much of a gayogt
it's boring. I'm bored.
I’m taking breaks and doing other stuff but frick me the combat got old faster since I’ve played 7
it's not even the combat for me, it's how they copy pasted everything at the beginning from the beginning of the first one and the boring ass way everyone is forced back into action. Should have just dropped you in Hawaii and explained how you got there later.
Why kiryu final speech make no sense? Don’t tell me you are one of those who thinks “kiryu can’t cry” after yakuza 3 and gaiden? Come on now
I know Ichiban fricked up big time with the proposal and all that, but Saeko ghosting him was still brutal after all they went through. He was still like a middle schooler when it came to love and dating so it's obvious he was gonna frick up, it's weirder to me that she didn't know that after all the time they spent together.
only realistic thing in game tbh. you really expect women to be empathetic towards men they have no respect for and look at as if they're pathetic?
Ichiban has as many admirable qualities as pathetic ones, that's his whole thing. Anyone who was ride or die with him for an adventure then spent 3 fricking years hanging out with him would know that by now.
well yeah but most of that still doesn't matter for some women. the moment you do something that in their eyes, make them lose respect for you or see you as lesser than the best they expect from someone, they don't give a shit about you anymore
No way, a woman used a man to get things despite not really caring for him? Surely this never happens?
I wouldn't piss on that b***h (Saeko) if she was on fire.
>battles now tell you if the enemy will be weat against/resist an attack you chose, even with enemies you haven't beat before
If anyone struggles in points in this game it's all on them
I remember when I was playing the first one almost every enemy resisted everything but one attack type towards the end. I wonder if people complained.
Also came with a small poster inside along with the usual sticker.
brehs... why shes showing off her feet..
Built for Big Ichiban wiener
you just sold me on this game
her feets are really stinky anon
I already bought it, you don't have to continue to sweeten the deal
>tfw i wont be getting the game until monday
>brack mondei
Some of the CD choices are odd
Why is one of the Puyo tracks the final boss of fever
15 hours in, Chapter 4, still no job change yet, but I'm just running around doing side activities...
It's pretty fun so far! Not sure if the enemy levels are really balanced though.
anyone else getting english voices inserted in even when i set it to jp? hearing it during camera mode and level up, as well as some random npcs.
switch to english than back to japanese
Yes though he doesn't have a major role
Hell yeah same
Casino prize weapon that's super strong for the time you can get it is a good RPG trope
Is it true they brought back my homie Akiyama in this one?
>check out the new poker restaurant in Yokohama before leaving for Hawaii
>oh cool, and electric bat for a reasonable amount of chips
>completely break the early game by getting said bat, which is stronger than anything in the first ten hours or so and turns your normal attack into an AOE
Frick I gave up looking for the casino when I saw it wasn't in the washroom
>That reveal at the end of Chapter 3
Christ wtf
>just started
Ichi is so fricking autistic bros I love him
Pozzed westernized game. Shan't be playing
Are there any good bosses, so far they’ve all been the same shit
There's something surreal about hearing guys like Bryce Papenbrook in an otherwise japanese voiced game
>ichiban asking saeko out
Oh God
>proposing to her in the first date
First time i turned off a game due to pure cringe
Give it to me straight. How bad is Yong’s voice acting?
Don't you dare criticize Yong. That's toxic. However he's allowed to talk shit on his twitter/youtube for a living.
>Playing dub in the first place
God fricking damn it, I hate all of you. Bring me back to comfy Yakuza threads during 2012-2015.
he's quite literally, and unironically, BREAKING THE WORLD, with his performance.
See, my problem is that the dub is dogshit even without him
Bland, but somehow not the worst new casting of the dub. To me, that goes to Akiyama
God I fricking hate Nanba so fricking much. I hate the way he looks at me with a smug fricking look on his face like "Oh you bought this game for 70 bucks?"
Frick you Nanba
Leave him alone, he's homeless while having a medical degree. He's obviously worse off than you
>That intro sequence.
Better than 6? I doubt that.
Getting the thunder bat in chapter 2 in the poker casino before leaving japan turned out to be a major boost.
Holy shit, did Dame Dame go into a coma?
worse, he became a zoomer, sheesh fr fr
why the lighting looks like such crap on the pause menu? there's no ambient occlusion or shadows anywhere on hid 3D model, the light illuminates places it shouldn't even be able to reach.
i wish more game devs didn't care about such irrelevant nonsense
>go out of your way to make realistic looking game
>but can't be bothered to make it look realistic in all other terms
>"uhhhh i wish devs were more incompetent like this duhhhhh"
moron.
it's a good game, maybe they can patch it, but western devs make trash games and obsess over making them look as perfect as possible, effectively polishing turds
they did try to polish the shit out of Yakuza 6 though which is why it still looks so good in a lot of places but it apparently ran like shit so their response to that was to just lower every other setting and make it so even when you play on max, it still looks subpar due to consoles not being able to run the game properly with the max settings they wanted.
is there a good comparison review between the different versions?
God that hair looks awful. It looks like an old man trying to make himself look young. What were they thinking?
>an old man trying to make himself look young.
its pretty common in asia
>Implying Matsumoto is old.
He's 60, that's older than Kiryu.
He's still got a good 40 years in him, I'd say that's young.
He's going straight to seppuku if things keep going...
This wasn't because he tried to look younger at All, but whatever.
I'd rather go back to stiff and janky Yakuza 3 combat than play another turn based cringe. I'll maybe get IW when it's $15 or there's a rral time combat mod like that WIP one for LAD.
>janky combat
Shut up 0gay
do you guys get crashes when enabling FSR3 framegen?
i haven't tried it because 60 fps is enough for this kind of game and that's what i get with 4k xess ultra quality on my 6900XT
i'm on 1060 and wouldn't mind upping reflections and shadows
still looks great and i get 55-60 fps no problem
love it
the only game coming out in current year i actually enjoy
I wonder who's the real protagonist
I mean the game is essentially a big send-off party for kiryu so yeah him being the protag makes sense.
That homosexual is never getting sent-off and the future five games are going to be a "real send-off" for him
We'll have a game with bald kiryu with a white beard and you will fricking play it
bro I love LAD 8 so much theres alway shit to do
Played 7 hours, enjoying it so far. I kinda wish I could already change jobs and plan ahead on who is going to be what but I assume it'll be soon
>soon
hahaha
LOL have fun with default jobs for 15 hours until you get to chapter 6.
show me the new haruka
Haruka a shit so no.
>the whole date sequence
I'm in Hawaii and I've been running around with Kiryu for a while now. When do I get Nanba and Adachi back? Does Saeko join too or much later? I hate having just 1 party member.
Doing the objective to go to Akane's house again gets you Tomizawa if you want another party member
Ok thanks. It doesn't have to be Adachi or Nanba, I just want more than 1 party member.
anon... Kiryu can't make friends so he has to take Ichi's. But Ichi can make friends easily so he gets more on his own.
you get nanba and adachi back in chapter 7. 3/4-6 is all Ichiban, Kiryu, Eric and Chitose until chapter 8 and Nanba leaves with Kiryu and you're stuck with those 5 til chapter 12
I want to play Gaiden, but the only games I’ve played are 0, K1, Judgement and Lost Judgement.
Would it be an issue if I skipped ahead? I’m generally familiar with the plot beats of the other games.
seconding this guy
did anything important actually happen in Gaiden or was it the usual Kiryu shenanigans saying he's gonna get out of everything and comes back anyways?
It pretty heavily relies on you having played at least 3, 5, 6, and 7. It completely spoils 7 entirely multiple times including right at the end where it just explains every twist in 7 in like two minutes.
>did anything important actually happen in Gaiden
It established the Daidoji far more than 6 did and they're an actual organization now, introduced us to Hanawa and his friendship with Kiryu, showed us the monk is on Kiryu's side, showed us how Kiryu is losing his mind being away from everyone he loves, established Akame as The Florist equivalent in Sotenbori, and we have two characters who should be appearing in future games since apparently they didn't appear in 8.
>the lemonade and kiana quests
I've been on this one road for two fricking hours
The worst thing about that slampig kson shoving her fat digital breasts in my face is that i can't look up porn of her.
I'm enjoying Judgment
Will I enjoy Lost Judgment
Is Saori in Lost Judgment
Some people dislike the story more so it depends on if you like the subject matter or not. Pretty much everything but the substories are a step up over Judgment.
>Is Saori in Lost Judgment
Yes, though she feels more like a b***h at times than she did in Judgment.
>the subject matter
I heard it's about school bullying, but is there anything else in loose terms?
Those are the loose terms. That's the main subject matter so if you don't find that super interesting you may find it worse than the original. There's other stuff going on in parallel with that subject, but that's the main focus of the game.
Well it's more like I don't mind it than disliking it
Long as it's not too much of a slog I think it should be fine, it helps if the gameplay is good. Any rhythm minigames?
>Any rhythm minigames?
Seiryo Rabbits School Story. It has some good songs, Girls obviously being the best.
I liked LJ's story but a lot of people here complained about it both from the aspect of Yagami refusing to acknowledge other arguments that could easily shut everything down, even basic ones, and from the repetition oft he argument.
Honestly, the final boss is one of my favorites.
alright frick I guess I have to buy it
To be fair on Yagami’s argument, it is a very strong argument since it collateral damage is a very real concern in vigilante justice. Plus, Yagami has mental trauma over letting young women die after what happened in the first game.
I find it interesting because Yagami and the killer are arguably both being hypocrites, just in different ways.
Yes to all.
There are also playable Saori sections just like in the first game.
Oh I'd like to play with Saori alright
Very disappointed for Ichi final boss even the music doesn't slap that much
ive been playing this shit nonstop for 16 hours... so addicting man
What's sidestory 3 and 4? It skipped directly to 5
Some JP players have already done all the puzzle shogi stuff for anyone looking for solutions.
Hello Work outfit codes also just went out.
Oh, and the guides from 7 work for Challenge Shogi if you want to do that instead of repeating Puzzle 4 like 50 times.
Sure, but he also could have added onto the argument. Instead he harps on that one very strong point when he can add more from his past into it.
>ive been playing this shit nonstop for 16 hours... so addicting man
hey thats me!
Nig ger
NINTENDO?!
They've been doing this for a while. With ass catchem and such.
So, Sujimon are...real? Ichiban isn't just a brain-damaged schizo? Does he have some kind of They Live shades implanted into his brain?
Moose is trying so hard to shill this slop. It’s adorable
go talk about discord friend somewhere else moron
Well, Ganker? Did you buy the hippie suit or the drip god suit for your date?
>PS5 controller drifts with 7 and 8
>Doesn't drift with Gaiden or literally any other Steam game
>Changing the deadzones and sensitivity does nothing
It's turn based so I'm just dealing with it but this shit is driving me crazy.
Dualsenses are shit and prone to drift. I have 3 dualsenses and only one works 100%. One has drift and the other has a broken R2 button.
>dramatuber starts posting some moronic shit about you
>career ruined
Ichi...
>guides say substory 3 and 4 are unmissable
>i'm in chapter 3 and never got sidestory 3 and have 5 already
this shit is giving me tons of stresss.
This is modern Yakuza, it's pretty much impossible it's missable, and it's almost a guarantee the Big Swell or whatever the equivalent is will be only available in PA so you have to go into it regardless instead of clearing stuff in the main story.
There's almost no game where you do the substories in the numbered order lol
Yeah, but it's supposed to be an unmissable part of the story, yet i missed it.
"unmissable" means you don't get locked out of it by progressing the main story, not that you're forced to encounter it
3rd one is for the Crazy Delivery minigame
4th one is for the Poundmates
both unlock after you meet his name is Jeff
Is that after getting Tomizawa?
yeah
Is this the correct order?
If you're going Kiwami play 0 first
If you want you can emulate the first two and play in the release order. Y1 and Y2 have a certain charm to them that isn't present in later games.
if normal
0>k1>k2>3r>4r>5r>6>7>gaiden>8
if awesome
ps2 1>ps2 2>3r>4r>5r>0>6>7>gaiden>8
Did they make karaoke easier or am I just damaged? I got rank 1 100 points on first try on all songs
Nope, it's been this easy since 6. Dragon Engine karaoke has the most lenient timing along with baseball.
Best way of making money? I haven't found koikoi or a casino yet
don't bother yet cause you lose it all
Yes I know but I'm in chapter 4
Bros I was suppose to do it but I couldn't...
I wanted to play all of the Yakuza series to be ready for the launch but I am still in the middle of the fricking Yakuza 5 and it's never ending
I already played 7 so at least that is out of my way
such many cases
you're supposed to play maybe 2, 3 yakuzas a year
When do you get poundmates? Nancy-chan is a real tease.
Chapter 3, but you hardly get to use them because cheapest summon is a 1000 dollars and I haven't found a way to make money
uwot? cheapest is 200
It's more that part 4's a shitshow but the finale makes up for it in coolness
so I started playing Yakuza 4 and so far to my surprise the game is good despite some nonsense. The finale must be a complete shit show since other anons warned me of this game
It's the best yakuza to date
so far I would consider 2 and 3 the best just in terms of story and narrative. I do like the smaller personal focus on individual characters with 4
Yeah I think 4 introduced its new playable characters really well
With how much he was promoted in the trailers I kind of appreciate that.
Kasuga, Kiryu and Tomizawa is a funny trio
Chickens and dogs having social media accounts feels like a joke that'd be in a dystopia novel, or facebook comic
>the streak of people recognizing Kiryu on sight carries on in 8
he's the worst fricking secret agent ever.
>ichiban's entire romance arc is a gag
Weird direction but okay.
Legit ruined the ending. It's like they can't find a balance between overly goofy and overly melodramatic. Oh well, Ichiban kind of won in the end so whatever.
>dating minigame
>she sends a hand pic
Is there only scammers on that dating app?
This felt kinda weird in how nonchalant it was.
He looks so done with life
Every element of Kiryu in the RPG aspect is extremely nonchalant.
I'll wait for a pirate maybe
I screamed like a fangirl when I heard the Shenmue story.
aloha!
BON VOYAGE
How are you even supposed to recognize which NPCs you're supposed to use that on? Only time it worked was some random walker by.
you can see the bar above their heads
If you didn't speed through everything by mashing X, you'd know that NPC's will have icons above their head that can be used with ALOHA LINKS and the game tells you this plain as day.
>ALOHA LINKS
Is Freelancer useless in this game like it was in 7? It seemed like it gets big attack boosts compared to other jobs so maybe that's how they balanced it?
Hawaii is really well realized, i really enjoy how they captured the feeling of it being fundamentally different from the Japan locations. Also this tinder minigame has gotten me fricked up, i feel genuinely uncomfortable playing it as someone who has never used a dating app IRL
Am i the only one that finds the combat mediocre? i expected a bigger improvement but most issues are still there.
I like it but it's extremely easy so far. Almost every enemy I kill in one or two hits.
I'm enjoying it, lot of improvements that should've been there from the beginning
What I want the most is more freedom is how you make your jobs so I'll more have to see on that front
I have accepted the lack of balancing since every RGG game is like this
Not really. There's too many cutscenes. The date was cringe and awkward. I put in 4 hours before I made it to Hawaii and it was mostly slog.
It's weird how between Gaiden and Y8, they were pushing for Kiryu's big finale, but all Y8 ever does is blueball you from start to finish. What, did they fricking get cold feet?
I am kinda lost. This is a main entry game of just some spin-off?
Filler episode while they work on Akiyama: Gaiden and the Kenzan remake.
It's somewhat confusing, i was keep seeing this and then that Kiryu game and i got it somehow mixed.
Sega is full of idiots who decided to stop numbering the main games since Yakuza 7 to pander to western audiences.
In Japan they still add the 8.
>Infinite sign is literally a sideways 8
Whoa...
I'm not sure if switching from yakuza to LAD in the west a good or a bad marketing move
It's Yakuza 8 anon.
>Someone who streamed the game early proved that wasn't the case actually
That's actually good news then, though I'm still not holding my breath. What's up with that one guy's screenshot with 19/19 then?
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/664443358/#664462389 here's the screenshot of the kenzan memory
can't find one of the menu though you can always find out for yourself
That's good enough for me, thanks man. I was sort of zigzagging not opening stuff up so that's great news.
So are we done with Ichiban now?
Wait what? Isn't he supposed to be the new main character? It's not like he was badly received too.
He's getting one more game at least
>spoiler
Someone who streamed the game early proved that wasn't the case actually
Pretty sure we also saw a later screenshot that showed 20 20 10 yokohama memories instead of the 20 20 09 from before
Anyone else having Kasuga say english lines during non-voiced cutscenes and during level ups even though I'm on JP audio?
Not playing another until they cut out Kiryu or Iciban completely. Pick a main character and don't chain him down with the other one.
Is it really true that denuvo scans your Pc for other games that are completely unrelated to what you purchased?
If you're not playing Palworld you're a homosexual who should kill himself. Especially if you're playing this low-effort slop.
?
Is there Kino of the highest tier like this in 8?
>kiryu is a cuck and a virgin
>ichiban is a simp for a hag that will frick anyone BUT him
looking at japan's birth rates I guess this makes sense.
GAN
LAO GAN MA
Like a Bing Chilling when?
Soon hopefully. Nagoshi is working on that already after all since he tamed up with the Chinese and their money.
>Date and Watase spent atleast 2 years to make the dissolution plan
>Watase and his crew had time to plan convoluted plot to take down Kijin clan
>Not one(1) person on either family has enough foresight to create a safety net (beside muh company) to help ex-yakuzas that agree to quit
And because he's incompetent at his job, the only way he knows how to introduce conflict into his stories is by destroying everything the previous game builds up.
pretty sure that Daigo's plan failing will be the main conflict catalyst for at least 3 more games lmao
to be fair, it literally isn't Daigo's fault in this game.
Is there a way to switch Ichibans hairstyle to the ponytail ? Is there Sujidex in this game? That was fun
>Is there a way to switch Ichibans hairstyle to the ponytail ?
you have to give Sega your email for that one
Is that a joke ? I don't mind.
you have to subscribe to Sega newsletter and they will send you a code to redeem. Then you can switch Ichiban to his suit and ponytail costume.
That's how it starts anon...
some outfits change his hairstyle so yes
and sujidex is back
Ah, okay because I didn't see it anywhere on the menu so I was afraid they removed it.
>some outfits
Shame.
When can you change costumes? Is it not until chapter 6?
That, pay $2, or get creamapi
>sub and spam list
Simple as. Thanks for letting me know anyway. Just did it.
so does kiryuactually die? is it at least well done?
no he's very sick in a hospital bed and totally won't be back ever again
Heavy spoilers
he walks away and it's open ended. Says he's got something to do. Then walks and it fades away.
Alright when's the Chitose sfm
Watching the DSP gameplay right now.
Did he seriously ask her to marry him on the first date? Literally same energy as this sperg. Holy frick
Ichiban spent twenty years in prison. It's only natural that his social cues would be a bit stunted.
>expecting a schizo autistic felony to know anything about girls
It's not like they've just met each other, they've been close friends for 3 years, though to be fair he should've at least just said that he wanted to officially date her with marriage in mind and not just straight up propose to her on the first date.
>Revelations are back(technically)
>None of the characters say "HIRAMEITA"
THEY HAD ONE JOB
I really hoped it moved on from the cringeworthy adult man protag acting like an anime teenager but it was short lived.
Come to think of it, Ichiban being loved in this place isn't surprising in the slightest.
>CHADian
SAARS! WE WON
Y0 has the worst narrative of the series. Stop defending it because it was your first Yakuza game newbie.
best narrative of the series, sorry grandpa, the new gang just did it better
>Call Kiryu "Taichi Suzuki" in this game
>Has an event with someone who literally only knew him as Taichi Suzuki (Nakajima)
>it's still another Date talks to the guy while Kiryu listens in event despite Date literally never meeting the guy
Come on
Bucket list seems like a real fricking disappointment. It's just endless blueballing.
Sega is finally sending the well groomed Ichiban codes.
Just installed the ultimate edition, what am I in for LaDs?
100 hours of content
Is ichiban's mother white?
half hawaian half jap
is it just me or did gaiden feel more polished?
>The Amon of this game is Jo for Kiryu's side, and the gimmick of the fight is you're fighting all of the Amon brothers(Jiro, Sango, and Kazuya) at once
>But for some reason Jo uses Shin's model
Surely this was an error on their part, how do you mess that up?
>Spikeout
Now i'm kinda wishing for Die Hard Arcade
Will there be any sort of continuation of Saeko romance later on in the game, or was Ichiban friend zoned? The main plot is so moronic that this is the only thing I care about at this point.
Ichiban's ending is happy so don't worry.
The ending doesn't have them get together, but there are multiple parts in the story and the ending that show it could eventually happen and leave it open to continue that plotline if people like it.
>The ending doesn't have them get together
It does until he fricks it up. Again.
This sucks. All that tinder grind for nothing
>Dub gets Patrick Seitz for Yuya of all people
Of all the guys they could use him for? That's a weird choice? As silly as a scene it is, genuinely the "SHEEEE-mano YAH KOO ZAH" guy was the perfect choice for Yuya's personality.
> preordered from amazon
> amazon fricked up and didn't buy enough stock ahead of time
> sold out on amazon and they still haven't shipped my preorder
frick you amazon!
Maybe I should cancel my order a buy digital. Tho I'd hate missing out of preorder bonus class....
Go out and touch grass, the preorder items are included in every physical edition, at least for this current print.
Just make sure the back of the box has this text.
Bros I'm so happy for her...
she can't voice act to save her life.... no wonder they barely made hologra episodes with her even before the china stuff.
This is the equivalent of Alanah Pearce showing up in Cyberpunk, but vtumorgays can't see that.
jesus christ her voice acting is such fricking doghist............
Kson's EN voice is amazing, unlike that other who sounds terrible voicing as Kiryu. This will be a good opportunity for Kson to become a proper VA, which means more Gundam kits stream
>THIS IS MY LE DREAM JOB SO MY ARMY OF SIMPS PLEASE PRESSURE RGG TO GET ME IN
>got in
>couldn't be bothered to actually put effort into working the "dream job"
seriously, how the frick was she able to put more energy and talent in that final goodbye song she did as coco but in here, she just complains fricks it up big time? is it just because she's seething she didn't get a role in in main cast of Gaiden like that one other girl did as Akane instead?
i hope they add druski, moist critical and mutahar some ordinary gamers in the next yakuza game so i can hear the defense you homosexuals will make
well if the next game takes play in america, it would make sense to have them in
i like the bowling ball/bowling pin knockback combat now. It was in yakuza 7 but it clearly felt like it was unintential/half-asses. im glad its fully realized in lad8 because its pretty fun to pull off
without spoilers do they mention the name drop dragon quest in lad8?
Is it soulless?
Andre Richardson speaks Japanese and isn't the same actor, so yes
not any more or less than the previous game
wait how do i increase weapons star? my bat has only one
I don't think you can? I believe it was 1* in the demo as well. As far as I understand it they're weapon tiers. Ichiban's best bat from 7 is now one of the starter ones, essentially.
I saw that there's a craftable weapon that uses the hero's bat as a material anyway
>Beat Y7 battle arena, go from level 32 to 43, upgrade gear etc
>Majima still grapes me
Fugg aaaaaaa
have you tried buying bazookas
Nope.
>Lose once but try again and have a better strategy, got to the second phase and everyone is doing okay so far
>Get to the part where Saejima and Majima pull out their own Essence attack
>Decide to take a screenshot because why not
>Game crashes
FRICK YOU. FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU THE FIRST AND ONLY FRICKING TIME YOU CRASH AND IT WAS NOW? FRICK YOU
i would like a masumi arakawa yakuza 0 type game. i think that would be neat
I love that my boy is living his best life but goddamn a fricking 45 year old virgin?
So does Kiryu just not use weapons when using Dragon of Dojima?
Will they ever do a game with a day-night cycle?
>Daigo and Watase publicly dissolve their clans
>Publicly open a security company together
>Publicly put their faces on the company
>Their clients were TOTALLY SURPRISED THAT THEY ARE ALL EX-YAKUZAS WTF after a jpeg on the internet tell them
huh
oi bruv
Why doesn't Ichiban get help for his delusions
how's the game bros, any Gankererdict yet?
the story sounds kinda shit and like a dragon's gameplay wore thin over the 50 hours i played it, so i've held off on buying it, but if they've improved the gameplay and the side content is fun i might pick up the standard edition.
the cutscene shit in the first chapter was really boring and uninteresting to me but actually playing the game and fighting enemies. I like the combat changes with the whole dragon engine ragdoll physics playing a part in making the combat more complex with its knockback. i cant describe it properly but its more realized in this than 7. if you get the game, Get it on fanatical for 60 dollars instead of 70 and get creamapi for the dlc because sega doesnt deserve a penny for paywalling NG+
thanks bro, and yeah that was the plan
i actually really wanted to like 7's combat, so hopefully i enjoy 8
>That emotional gutpunch during the fricking diaper family side story.
Come on what the frick
why do they keep bringing back Gondawara back
It's like the second most popular meme in the community after baka mitai
it's a joke that is way past its sell by date
I think 8's the first game to finally be made for the current gen systems or at least expecting you to play on them. Tons of these signs aren't even clearly rendering and seem to be intentionally low res while statues are also looking lower res for some reason. Compare it to 7 and LJ. These are all on a PS4 Pro at 1080p. I don't think it's a glitch but who knows.
It's so fricking expensive for me jesus christ
At least P3R is next week on game pass
>product placement but japanese
The thing is the story in yakuza games are completely about taste
I have seen a lot of people who love yakuza 6 story, while another bunch of people hate yakuza 6 story
A lot of people love kiwami 2, others hate kiwami 2, some yakuza fans still hate yakuza 7 for been turn base and the story been about “power of friendship”
If you find the story bad, then okay… the world won’t stop spinning because you didn’t like something
>don't criticize my game, if you do, you're clearly some sort of self centered person who says that because you think your opinion matters enough that everyone should listen to it
>just don't complain bro. if it's not to your liking, shut up and move on, lol. nobody cares
why are you homosexuals like this?
i liked lost judgment/judgment story the most because they still felt somewhat grounded and weren't too convoluted (compared to the other yakuza games) The coin locker baby in yakuza 7 is Utterly fricking moronic, but i dont play these games for their stories so im not that bothered by it.
Black person.
i wish the song phone playlist feature sitll played music during battle. i want to hear today is a diamond while battling
If Yakuza 1 was a turn based JRPG, who would be in Kiryu's party? Date, Shinji, Reina, Yuya, anyone else? Maybe the Florist?
florist it too fricking fat to move around and keep up with the party running around. they'd have to give him a mobile scooter or some shit.
Yuya definitely makes sense because he's in practically every Yakuza title, he would be like Kiryu's Namba. Date being his Adachi also makes sense. And then if they didn't write Sayama out of 3 onwards, she could be the love interest that's always around. If only...
>Yuya and Date after you first meet them
>Some random b***h that never shows up after Yakuza 1 and isn't in any cutscenes
>Majima after the final fight in Shangri-la(so near endgame party member)
>Florist basically serves as your Fuuka/Rise/Futaba type character in this universe
>Yuya as a party member
I really wish they did this in 8.
>Ichiban is a footgay
We need Yagami back to save this franchise more than ever.
Doubt Yagami's tastes are any better
yamagi is a pedochad like me
why the frick does he write like a sperg?
and more importantly, why's that woman still giving him attention after he talks like a moron?
that particular one is actually a fat guy catfishing you
Why do turn based RPGs still exist. It's not 1986 anymore
Girls in my game
where's the black queens?
why are nips so ugly
they're like the brits of asia
moron
hit a nerve?
nta but it's true
right down to the fricked up teeth
SEX WITH CHITOSE
any kinophiles?
My homosexual dog doing this homosexual look everytime I come home
needs wiener in its mouth
How do you play sicko snap again after the sidestory tutorial? Getting into trams only gives me the option to ride normally or trade points.
didnt know yamai was this BASED !
>Best girl
>is a side character to never be seen
Can I live in the reality where she is somehow never apart of judgement and instead in ichiban's party. She would be a cute straight man to ichischizo
I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS
>Nanba very awkwardly and loudly slurping on his drink.
>Then he starts staring off into space when Ichiban says she walked away.
They're really making me like him way more in 8.
sou ka..
so you riked it
nanba will forever be a homosexual
I thought kiryu had a new karaoke song but it's not there.
poor chitose
>Autistically refuse to acknowledge that Joryu is Kiryu to strangers, even his closest friends and allies like Daigo and Majima
>Casually lets someone like Kasuga that he talked to for less than an hour years ago to acknowledge him as Kiryu
The only other possible thing it could be is in those interim bits that Gaiden didn't show us he told Ichiban who he was, or Ichiban just figured it out based on the whole "Dragon of" thing.
>kiryu has left your party
It's Saekover
how do you frick up this hard
Because if things worked out he wouldn't have been at a low point to start the game
schizo ichi strikes again, romances in 7 were just prison pent-up cum delusions
They actually show it wasn't part of his delusions.
Man, i thought there was way too many fricking enemies in hawaii but once you get the street surfer you can just coast hassle free.
This has to be the slowest start in the series. After 4 hours of cutscenes, I am just now able to walk around in Hawaii.
The entirety of chapter 1 is basically a 3 hour long substory. I get it's there to introduce people to the cast but I'm kind of surprised they'd do all this right out of the gate.
they're aiming for the persona audience with this rpg yakuza
Why does Kiryu have so little SP?
he has cancer
Then why does he have so much HP?
Cancer suppresses your magical Heat powers, not your tankiness.

4Gamer:
>Good day to you today.
I understand that orders for the packaged version of Yakuza 8 have been very strong. We will have to wait and see how users evaluate the game, but first of all, the retailers have determined that the game is "going to be a hit".
Yokoyama:
>It is doing well, especially in Japan.

Japs are literally only buying it for Kiryu
hooolyy shitoo
>deifying some b***h who just keeps running away from every single responsibility or problem that arises in his life
Whose lifelong hero? No one in this game has any reason to idolize Kiryu. Nanba's completely disconnected from that world. Kasuga was in jail for 20 years. He completely missed out on literally everything that made Kiryu a household name. Kiryu went to jail in 1995 and came out in 2005. Kasuga went to jail in 1999, during Kiryu's incarceration.
I mean, yeah, Kiryu was the "Dragon of Dojima" long before Y1, but no one gives a shit about what he did back then. Literally none of Kiryu's feats are ever brought up prior to his incarceration.
If you're Korean(like Seonhee), you idolize him for smashing Korean pussy(Sayama) and for being cooler than the Jingweon
>Kasuga was in jail for 20 years
he missed the hidden flashback with ichiban and hamazaki
>9 hours in
>Still haven't gotten the fourth Party Member nor have unlocked jobs yet
I am glad Kson fulfilled her dream.
Also she's hot as frick.
>I am glad Kson fulfilled her dream.
>Also she's hot as frick.
Ok chang
>have their "dudes walking in a line" moment at the beginning
>people nearby just see three dudes acting weird
wew
I'm pissing myself over here
>been walking between the simp and lemonade kid for like 20 minutes now
jesus
>get to actually see arakawa "the assassin" rather than arakawa "the strong-willed individual who cares heavily for his men and his clan's reputation" for once
nice
I like how you start out in Hawaii literally on rails
What's his problem
he's cold
>got into the POCKET FIGHTER substory
>started to cry like a little b***h
I DON'T UNDERSTAND
HOW THIS MEANINGLESS FRICKING SUBSTORY HAS MORE SOUL THAN ANYTHING THAT HAS HARUKA AND THE MAIN STORY INVOLVED
I managed to make and eat dinner during a single cutscene (hawaii orphanage)
I'm in chapter 5 and can't switch jobs yet
>I'm in chapter 5
>Hasn't unlocked job switching yet
HOLY FRICKING SHIT WHAT THE FRICK?!? You mean I gotta play with the default jobs all the way to like chapter 6 or 7? Boring as shit.
This game has some interesting ways to introduce party members
fooreez
ONE MORE TIME
Cheetos is best girl
NO MORE TIME OWARU TOKONATSU!!
>no day1 Yong Out mod
you frickers let me down
Just wait for someone to make a mod that replaces him with Kuroda speaking English
If the English dub actually sounded like this you guys would be calling it shit because it tries too hard to put on a voice.
Don’t care, still better than the current English Kiryu. I didn’t even mind 7’s dub because it’s basically half Persona actors with Wei Shen
The only way an AI mod will be serviceable will be when someone makes a better Darryl model. The current one is really bad and has tons of artifacts.
First rubber bullets, now I guess Mine was made of rubber too.
Lau Ka Long got shot in the head. Through the forehead and out the back, his brains were splattered on the wall. He's fine in Yakuza 7. Literally nobody is off the table, I'm surprised they haven't brought back Reina
>something funny happens during a fight
>go to save a video with the nvidia overlay
>it won't let me save an instant replay
why
easy video recording is one thing that i envy with console players. I record cool clips all the time when im on my switch. But on pc i really dont want to open up sony vegas everytime i want to properly trim stuff.
>Yamai is fricking cold all the time
I have never understood an antagonist more and I just finished LJ
cuz man is too drippy
Why doesn't Ichiban ask Eri out?
Because he's a 45 year old virgin with no romance or dating experience.
but so is Eri
>Ichiban's entire proposal scene to Saeko.
I'm dying.
Listening to the dub karaokes
>Only Saeko, Chitose, Zhao and Nanba's actors know how to sing and got the least affected by autotune sabotage.
>I can forgive Ichiban's voice because they very clearly made him just have fun rather than be technically good which makes songs like Summertime Groove fun to listen to and the Future I Dreamed Of more cheesy(in a good way). Though his Judgement is actually more autotuned than Yong's which makes me thing the robotic effect was just a deliberate choice they thought would work for the song on both versions, which is dumb
>Whoever told Adachi to sing like a younger guy because it's funny needs to be fired(and probably was).
>Saeko is Sae Niijima
>Zhao is Goro Akechi
>Nanba is Yagami
They’re alright tbh
also, the translations of all the songs are kind of awkward.
I think 8 probably just reused the audio from 7. I doubt they would've told them to make the same mistake as last time.
for some reason the vocation school exams drop the game to single digit fps
Man this game feels even slower than the previous one. Played all evening and I JUST got Kiryu.
I gotta agree that the game is a SLOG so far, not sure if it speeds up but the first three chapters are slow as frick, actually the third chapter is a bit better, but the first two are just so slow, kind of hoping after chapter 3 it gets a bit faster paced.
>Chapter 6 to get job switching
>Gotta play like 20-25 hours or some shit to get job switching
What the frick.
Someone said it's not until chapter 6 but I haven't gotten there myself.
Literally me
Doing all the friend links seems like it's going to be fricking cancer.
When do you get a full party as Ichiban? I want to wait until then to start really exploring Hawaii.
start of chapter 5
Where the hell are the party chats? I haven't found a single one yet.
You can look for icons on the map, I think? I know I found a party chat right outside the hotel but there was an icon for it. It's like two hearts or some shit.
those are walk and talks
which are different from party chats apparently
that legit looks yummy
illegal prostitution in america
I get it!
nice to see a healthy american white couple
beach bum
wtf even are these games about? What's the gameplay like? All I ever see from them is cutscenes.
Theyre about a guy who spent time in Japanese prison for a crime he did not commit
Ok but what's the gameplay? Is it just brawling with cutscenes in between? Is there exploration? Is it level-based?
It depends on the game
In every game but 7 and 8 you run around open world Japan beating people up
In 7 and 8 you run around open world japan beating people up with turn based paper Mario bing bing wahoo combat
Is it pozzed? Is this game pozzed? I don't want to know anything else, but is this game pozzed?
shut the frick up
No, I want to know if the game has been seen to by localisers. Tell me if it's pozzed.
Yakuza's been pozzed, homie
This is from 2009, when transgender ideology wasn't headlining as the next civil rights movement yet. People were still in the live and let live phase.
I hope that now the world has got the chances to see that destructive castration cult for what it is they wouldn't make the same mistake again.
See
Yes the Korean girl takes bbc in Hawaii
I never played yakuza.
But is that a gangster got into an accident and now dreaming about going on an adventure with a random hobo he saw on the streets
>serious crime drama
>hit enemy from behind
>no back attack bonus
>blond blue-eyed american child can speak fluent Japanese
did they just give
Ichiban speaks fluid English
Did you not do all the English tests in 7?
>fluid English
what is that
>marketed as yakuza in america
>6 hours in, still in Japan
how are you still in japan 6 hours in?
i took my sweet-ass time and didn't manage to get get over 4
ideally it's about 2-3 hours
Ive been playing for 3 hours and I'm about to bust down the seiryu clan
the frick i did that in like 1.5 hrs and i don't rush
Are there any good grind spots?
The combats a fricking slog and it’s killing my will to carry on
Is there no way to tell when a buff is about to wear off? That's lame.
