what even was the point of 4 outside of introducing saejima and akiyama
easily my least favourite RGG game which is weird considering 5 is probably my favourite
Face it, the series belongs to secondaries now. They are like GTAO players and were single player campaign enjoyers, they'll never acknowledge real fans again, you've been replaced by a more easy to please low iq fan
For me its gonna be like his >octopath traveler 2 until yakuza 8 releases >yakuza 8 until rebirth releases >rebirth until i finish it, then rise of the ronin >later, persona 3 reload if its good
I'll play Y8 first since it comes out first, but after P3 releases I honestly don't know. There's no way I'll be able to finish them both before Rebirth, so maybe I'll do Y8->FF7R->P3. That is if I finish Y8 and FF7R before Dragon's Dogma 2 and Ronin. Why did they all decide to release a bunch of long ass RPGs next to each other. Jesus
my path right now >mechwarrior 5 and zone of the enders 2 >then tekken 8 and yakuza 8 >then lost judgement and whatever till something else I like comes up
it's not terrible, vanilla 3/4 is better than 5, but 5's mods make the game pretty great.
yaml with original mechs and clan mechs and vanbiomes makes it awesome, but would need all dlc then. Can't wait for MW5 clans but would wait till the mods come out for it.
>playing through trails from the start, currently in Trails in the Sky SC >gonna play through the entire Yakuza series, only have 0, 7 and the Judgments if you count those under my belt >gonna no life Relink >gonna try and work on my backlog
I don't think I'm playing 8 until next year.
>Metroid series playthrough >Y8 >maybe an SMT playthrough again and do 3/4/4a/5
I'll see what P3R is like since it's on game pass, but I really can't get into Persona despite wanting more press turn combat.
I'm doing whatever until Yakuza then after I finish I'll play P3R. After P3R is Dragon's Dogma 2 and then maybe I'll go back and play Granblue Relink if I hear good things
I'm still missing a few games in the series before I can play Y8, so I'll probably peck at Y6, Gaiden and the Judgement games throughout the year before I can play it.
Dragon's Dogma 2 and EDF 6 are also on the block for the year, and also MGQ Paradox Part 3 when it finally drops.
Finishing the Plat for Bloodborne, Legend of Dragoon, and Dragons Dogma while trolling in BF2042 until Dragons Dogma 2 comes out. Might replay Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers
Weird. I was getting severe burnout through 4 and 5, which really started killing me in 5. I liked them both, but Y5 took me two years to complete. Went straight to Y6 afterwards yet I'm loving it. Can't wait to play every night.
>Y5 took me two years to complete
to be fair you could play yakuza 5 without any significant breaks and it would still feel like it took 2 years to complete
Really? I played 0, K1 and K2 in 2022 and put 100+ hours into each.
Then in 2023 around Thanksgiving I started playing 3. Beat it, immediately went to 4. Beat it. Went to 5, beat it and last Saturday beat 6. Playing them all back to back actually made me more interested in the story and wanted to play more and more. Although, 3-6 I only played for the story, I would go back to anyone one of them to play more sideqeusts and minigames. I loved 6's story though. Made me cry several times and Kiyomi is a sexy motherfricker.
>6 janky
It isn't, do you not have any upgrades? Also protip use weapons because they are extremely powerful and abuse extreme heat mode and upgrade anything heat related because it's broken af and you pick up any weapon near you
The big fights with lots of enemies are designed around weapons for sure
Yakuza went from low energy to high energy over time and most people loved it. But this is why both 1 and 2 kiwami feel uncanny with their low energy story and substories and high energy kiwami additions creating an atmosphere dissonance
I think it'll just be Komaki Knockback instead and not Tiger Drop, considering how much they tend to lock Tiger Drop early on, but Komaki Knockback will interrupt any action people try and do.
>didnt seem like kiryu could equip weapons in dragon of dojima style based on the demo >wondered how that would work by endgame if everyone’s equipped witth maxed out weapons while he’s stuck with fists that have 0 stats >they gave him a version of ichiban’s personality system and all of it just boosts his stats as a reppacement for no weapons in that job
interesting way of dancing around that i guess
the tiger drop is already in a skill in the demo. he does a combo that pisses off an enemy and tiger drops them
>yakuza is so fricking stylish >really want to like the games >but they're 90% cutscenes, 5% walking and only 5% combat
really need a western studio to make an entry and turn those numbers around
>but they're 90% cutscenes, 5% walking and only 5% combat
Are you just running from story node to story node, because 90% of my gameplay is doing all the side shit and then occasionally having a story moment once I'm done for the time being
>western studio >less cutscenes
Legitimately made me lmao. It would be the same amount of not more, but some of them would let you walk around at a snails pace while people yammer on around you
I don't think you've played a Yakuza game if that's what you think. Also lmao at thinking a western studio wouldn't put even more cutscenes in the game.
chapter 7, everything before that is the intro to the story and mechanics. I wouldn't even do much side stuff until Chapter 7 or Chapter 9. Just run through it.
Producer man says it's the longest main campaign they've ever done, over 70 hours if you just do the main quest. Almost twice as long as Y5. Producer man also said if you tried to do all the side stuff, "it may never end. "
Idk if I will replay it 13 times like I did Y0, but I would probably assume it's going to be top 3, just on the first run. Probably no achievement/trophy for Legend since NG+ appears to be locked behind DLC. I would assume this is probably the biggest game they've made by far. (and that's a good thing)
Kiryu walking the earth to meet everyone he's ever met and do some kind of substory, etc with them. Lots of returning characters he visits (since he has cancer and is going to die and shit (supposedly))

Kiryu is for a bit but he goes back to Tokyo. Kiryu and Ichiban have their own parties. Tomizawa is Ichban's Black Mage where as Namba returns to do it for Kiryu.

A large part of the game is going to take place in Ijincho with Kiryu, so we'll probably get some bits in Sotenbori (since Gaiden was supposed to be a DLC and most it takes place there). Then ofc we will get Kamurocho in some manner. So I would assume you go to every map they have in the game. It remains to be seen what maps will be available.

Games looking to be huge. I'm fine with turn based unlike most people but enemy rng placement got very annoying.

what I played of the demo, the shit mobs can be avoided this time around. That was a major asspain in Y7. You just couldn't avoid them, probably because they wanted to force the grind on you. but it was very mean spirited.

They should have done what Earthbound did and auto-beat any encounter with a low enough level to yours.

They give you the option to auto kill mobs but you get less exp and materials.

I would have actually preferred if they relegated trash mobs to arena fights spread around the various areas and only had mobs in the dungeons. The game should have been more focused, it didn't seem like it had enough boss fights and the ones that were there were just spongier versions of regular mobs for the most part. Almost no point to use most of your skills outside of AoE or quick attacks.

in 7, there are two despawn accessories, midgame in part time hero rewards and late third game in sotenbori arena. One more evidence towards the games designed around the player completing all the side shit immediately as it arrives.

I played the game during the first week it released, Idk about the first one, but the item from Sotenbori Arena just didn't work. Idk if they ever fixed it or if it was a me problem. But I had that thing on and nothing changed, even going to different maps and reloading from the mian menu.

Really only if they’re within the ring, but the vast majority of the time they aren’t
They could’ve redid it to have free movement with a movement gauge or whatever to better plan combos but they just took the lazy way out

I dunno, when I played 8's demo I felt like the enemies didn't move around nearly as much as they did in 7. Also the only reason I had a problem with enemy movement in 7 was because they didn't show attack ranges so you had to vaguely get an idea of where some moves would hit and since you couldn't control your own movement you had to try and awkwardly wait and hope things line up. Also it felt like you had a lot less MP than normal in the demo to combat skill spam, it seemed to me like they want you to do a lot more normal attacking with environmental items and the combo attacks.

You guys know there's an item that just completely gets rid of enemies on the overworld, right? You can't get it normally until Sotenbori but it exists. You can also get it early through Part Time Hero if you do the bug delivery quests, although it needs two gold bugs
i'm so fricking ready. Debating on if I should get the DLC. What's all included in the master vacation bundle, assorted outfit pack, and sujimon and resort bundle? Is it just more outfits? If so, I don't need that
cheat items or rather stuff to make the side stuff and crafting easier. then there's the extra jukebox music and you get a few outfits. The big "dlc" to get is the preorder bonus, which for some reason gives you NG+ and two jobs. The rest can be ignored imo. I don't think it adds anything substantial.
Of course there's a subbed option, it's just that sega seems like they've mandated dub trailers only on their english language channels. They're doing the same thing for the Persona 3 remake, it sucks.
The only problem with Ichiban is that they made him too old. He's only around 12 or so years younger than Kiryu and will be an old man too by the next game. Are they gonna ditch him for another new protag soon?
Of all the games of this franchise, wich one has the biggest maps? I know most of the Yakuza are out of competition but I never played Like a Dragon, Judgement nor the late Yakuza games.
Size is apparently "Hawaii" (claimed by devs at least, though it has yet to be fully seen) > Yokohama (Yakuza 7/Lost Judgment) > Kamurocho (Yakuza 4 underground and rooftops) > Kamurocho (Yakuza 0 since you still had the park and the area where the Millennium Tower is supposed to be) > Fukuoka > Kamurocho (Yakuza 1-3, 5) > Kineicho > Onomichi > Sotenbori > Tsukimino iirc.
Sorry, forgot a few as well. Downtown Ryukyu (Yakuza 3) is relatively small so I'd put it probably close to Tsukimino size, and Yakuza 6 Kamurocho got shrunk down because of the Dragon Engine build + story events, so it's probably closer to Kineicho size.
Eden the city is pretty small, smaller than downtown Ryukyu I'd say since you can walk from one end of the city to another in roughly a minute. The Wasteland is the largest map by far considering you have to drive everywhere to make even a sizeable dent, but it's also pretty empty.

Yeah no, I wanted the actual most large ones in term of square foot.
Well now that I got someone who played them all. Of all these, wich one is the closes to an open-world > context
I'm a gamedev who's trying to recreate a small jap city but I lack inspiration and i want to get it from Yakuza games or any games with a japanese modern setting.
Yokohama has the most diversity in terms of what you'd be looking for open world wise since it's a coastal city so it has a nice mix of a park, city districts, a river, etc. If you want full on city, Kamurocho is the best since it's just a little bit west of Tokyo city and is always crowded. If you want a map that's a bit smaller than Yokohama but not as crammed as Kamurocho, Fukuoka in Yakuza 5 is pretty nice for being relatively populated while also not crammed and not too big. Kineicho is also an option, but note that it has been deemed in real life as the most boring city in all of Japan.
In my opinion the southern side below the station is fine but the only worthwhile parts on the northern side are Chinatown and the park on the seafront.
Been playing 7 for a week, even if the combat is somewhat getting stale for everything else it's easily one of the best Yakuza I've played. Endearing characters, fun interactions between the main cast, nice ideas like everything from the turn based fights to the enemies being from the schizo brain of Ichiban... Throughout the series we pretty much only ever had different flavors of Kiryus as playable characters barring maybe Majima and Haruka so Ichiban's moron gang is a welcome change. The three main minigames are also pretty fun, I personally am enjoying the transition from rock bottom hobo to rice cracker tycoon, it fits perfectly into the main story. Hopefully they keep the same spirit for 8. I think they could strike gold with this formula much more easily than with their beat them up one.
the big highlight of the series for me is the boss fights, where you use all your skills. Turn based just doesn't have the same feeling of control, it almost doesn't feel like I'm doing a boss fight. I might have liked turn based more for the random mobs but then Y7 makes it so you can't even run around them easily. so you're forced to fight all the damn time and then once you get out of a fight, if you moved into another cell, a different mob will appear right in your face in the same spot as the last one. idk what they were thinking with that. We should have been able to easily avoid trash mobs.
I need tips. Y5 is a fricking chore to work through and I'm not Amon hunting. Is there any other reason to really work through all the side content besides leveling purposes, like how Y4 gives you the bulletproof armor Tanimura all but needed for the finale?
Shinada's side story gives you Sturdy weapons that are really good (aside from the one you start with) and Saejima's hunting is one of the better money making methods in the game, but they're otherwise optional.
The finale chapter works a bit different than the other games. You get like 2 or 3 days, so a few day/night cycles. You also unlike an extra 5 levels, from 20 max to 25 max. So, it's not in your best interest to max a character before the finale and unlock their extra 5 levels. The protag's job games are an easy way to max your level, because Y5 gives you really shit xp gains. You'd have to do like 500 fights a piece on the street for each character to max the last 5 levels. but if you save a lot of your jobs til the end, you can get most of the xp needed.
Also, you can't make a clear save for NG+ in Premium Adventure. So you need to clear everything you want or just run through the game first and pick up the substories and minigames in NG+ if you plan to 100%/plat
Really wish they released it back in November/December or at least early-mid January tbh. Too many games coming out at the same time and I'm also going back to work in February.
no one ever releases games during any of the major breaks. I guess they figure people are out doing other stuff or something and their fomo marketing would take a sales hit.
I am starting to think this is the actual reason he run the frick away in the beginning of y5 and not because of some silly korean chihuahua-sized cougar screeches.
is there a point in gaiden where you have to do the cabaret shit at all, like you sometimes had to in previous games? I just bought it and I'm planning to dummy out the video files so I don't have to waste like 40 fricking gigabytes on them
the cabaret is only necessary for the platinum, and getting rid of the cinematics doesn't make it stop working iirc
Just beat Chapter 3 of y0 and am really starting to get into it. I keep thinking the sidequests will get annoying but any time I run into one I play all the way through it and have a bunch of fun.
First yakuza (og1, og2 , og3, Kenzan) used to have missable content, meaning encounters and substories available only for the limited time after being available. Now devs stopped with that but the general development canvas remained the same. Game ASSUMES you vacuum clean your map for side stuff before moving further for the next main story bit. There's no actual freedom at all. It was especially noticeable in y7 (Y:LAD) with later chapters being basically a boss rush and in Lost Judgment with most main story plot triggers residing in just 4 key locations and you taxiing between them like in a hamster wheel, both of which would make a normalgay just speedrunning the main story want to never touch a yakuza game again.
Why does RGG spoil their story so heavily? They spoiled Shishido betraying Kiryu and the big shirtless Tojo team-up at Omi HQ for Gaiden. It’s gotten to the point that I stopped watching all trailers for this game.
And it’s not just recently either, their old intros spoiled like half the story in the previous games.
is there a point in gaiden where you have to do the cabaret shit at all, like you sometimes had to in previous games? I just bought it and I'm planning to dummy out the video files so I don't have to waste like 40 fricking gigabytes on them
There’s exactly one mission where you get sent to investigate a club and do a single round. After that you never have to go again and I’m not sure if there’s actually a reason to do them at all beyond being a completionist
So far it seems like it's at least partly fixed with the demo on Gaiden. You can manually position each character on their turn which also means taking advantage of AoEs and so forth, and there's actual use for normal attacks now instead of skill spam. A curated slice doesn't really say everything though.
what about the encounter rate?
that was my biggest problem with 7. you had the encounter rate of the beat em ups in a fricking turn-based JPRG, and leveling was slow unless you were grinding out a job you're shit at.
level xp was too low, i felt like
No, it’s still a spam to win fest
You can move in a small ring, and there’s more follow up attacks but they never addressed the actual issues of the system
>However, I think my favorite combat feature was Smackdown which allows you to instantly end fights from enemies under a specific level
Ah yes, mine too is the skip the shit battle system button
>IW is moronicly big >actually has a smaller file size than gaiden
the wonders that not wasting 50gb on demos that you can't install separately and e-prostitute live action videos can do
It's going to be campy with Kiryu's part, and try to force you to care when they (if they) finally reunite him with his family. Which is why I'll watch a friend play it and frick off for the Kiryu bits because as far as I'm concerned, Kiryu's story ended with 5, or even 4 for that matter. I wanted a proper reboot, not this half-assed shit with terrible character writing.
there was nothing fake about ishin hype, it's a beautiful game. Nobody knew devs are going to ravage it with zoomer fancervice (like 2 fujo baits from 7, 3 shounenshit baits from 0 and goddamn countless ecelebs) while porting it in a mobile game engine with mobile engine card based autowin combat
Honestly I'm baffled how much of a fricking curse Kiwami is as a reference for games. K2 got off lightly but still got tremendously fricked with, compared to K1's butchery and Ishin being all kinds of fricked.
instead of all this 'you can move slightly' and shit, they should have gone harder on making interactions between enemies more fluid like the original april fools video did
I'm playing brawler mod now, from what I'm getting out of the discord, it's pretty similar to mod so it should be done. but the brawler mod itself still needs a ton of work. It's pretty jank.
I was looking into how to change up some of the basic moves and I think he may have hid them. His source code is missing an entire library, the YFC, and I can't get anyone to tell me if there's a pack/unpack tool for YFC. I don't see his basic moveset in any of the json files so I can't seem to edit it. I know exactly what file is being read to get those basic moves, it's a .yfc file, but since I don't have the library (namespace in this case), I have no idea what it even is or how its used. Looks like an archive.
I feel like the biggest issue with that mod is the weak, basic moveset. There's some timing issues and bugs too but I beat the entire main story with it, barebones as it is.
Sounds like obfuscating so people don't hijack it too early, which is dumb but meh. Maybe with the full release it'll be opened up, and then people can just make Ichiban fight like LJ/G instead of this weak ass basic b***h setup that fights like a PS2 era character.
yeah it should be the first thing people wanted to change. It's possible that someone else is working on an expanded moveset mod for it. There's some interesting stuff i found already. It seems like there may have been some early testing for swapping characters in and out. Since I don't have access to the modding discord's main modding discussion, I'm getting ignored on some basic questions that should be easily answered. but setting that aside, since I don't think I can go forward with it, I want to try and see if I can add in companions to fight alongside in the brawler, or at least switch them out on the fly. Idk if it's possible to do the former since he's basically forcing everything to happen on a single turn. It seems like it should be possible to switch characters though. However, I would still need access to those yfc archives and my googling has turned up frick all on the topic. None of the guides or tutorials even mention these. Jhrino is the guy who made most of the modding community tools, so it's likely that he doesn't want to release it. If I had to guess, it may be because he reversed engineered what RGG did and doesn't wan that out. or it could have been a simple mistake to leave it out of his repo. idk.
ofc i write this long ass blog and then go check for an update and realize I fricked up on one of the submodules. ffs. this is why you don't jump to dumb conclusions like I did.
anyways, I see what is so now I'm going to focus on how to play as companions or see why he said having multiple people fight with you is not possible. well he didn't say it wasn't possible, someone else in teh comments said that. but I'd like to know more about it.
i wish he tied this beta to some discord server or something, i dont like having to download a 400 mb file everytime a new update comes out. I think aiming for the christmas release date was a mistake.
I fricking loved LAD Gaiden. I liked LAD7 but not for the combat. I don't want another JRPG game bros. Maybe there will be a mod that makes Kiryu real time combat available all the time.
There is
https://www.nexusmods.com/yakuzalikeadragon/mods/187
it's basically released as a modding resource, at least I think that's what 1.0 is ultimately going for. It's not ready yet though. I would guess that it will probably be ready within a couple months of Y8's release. Maybe planning on day one, even if it is still a bit wonky.
>Maybe there will be a mod that makes Kiryu real time combat available all the time.
We already got like an alpha or beta of something that does that for LAD and as

You gave me hope bros. I'll probably just wait for the mod as I'll be busy with other games.
I am disappointed that Yakuza 7 fell for the >boss fight >immune 99% of status effects
JRPG trope
This or the success rate on those skills for bosses is abysmally low.
especially since it's published by the company that also has RPGs by another dev studio that LETS YOU USE STATUSES ON BOSSES AS A GAMEPLAY QUIRK. Honestly they just need to add press turn to Yakuza
Gets good around chapter 5. I think that’s when you unlock Jobs and it picks up pretty rapidly from there.
Do yourself a favor and switch Ichiban to Foreman immediately even if you aren’t going to level it. Just using it once gives him an overworld ability to break walls. Not sure why they made getting that so weird but yeah
The story doesn't even really start until Chapter 5 and then it switches high gear at about Chapter 7. The end of chapter 5 is really when it starts, before that is basically all introduction.
Longest story basically translates to more filler and mandatory side shit
Wouldn’t be surprised if they put in more grinding towers instead of having normal level scaling
Rikiya is in. A memory of him at least.
I was really disappointed seeing practically all of Gaiden's nostalgiagayging being limited to 0 and the Kiwamis, nothing significant from 3-5.
>practically all of Gaiden's nostalgiagayging being limited to 0 and the Kiwamis, nothing significant from 3-5
apart from the ending you mean?
not there yet and trying to avoid spoilers. I'm just basing this on substory flashbacks and song visuals.
At least they clarified what happened with morinaga after 5, also the final boss really reminded me of aizawa's fight
3 and 5 get wanked hard in the endgame.
4 is the only one that really got neglected.

Yakuza is truly dead. Owari da...
the threads usually get more replies later in the day (around 7 to 8 hours from now)
that's the best time in the day to discuss these games
I also need some patience to actually watch these previews, since game journalists have a way with words that always leaves me fuming and seething

For me its gonna be like his

>rebirth until i finish it, then rise of the ronin
>later, persona 3 reload if its good
I'll play Y8 first since it comes out first, but after P3 releases I honestly don't know. Jesus

How is MechWarrior 5? I got mechapilled after AC6 and ZoE2.
it's not terrible, vanilla 3/4 is better than 5, but 5's mods make the game pretty great.
this
yaml with original mechs and clan mechs and vanbiomes makes it awesome, but would need all dlc then. Can't wait for MW5 clans but would wait till the mods come out for it.
>playing through trails from the start, currently in Trails in the Sky SC

I don't think I'm playing 8 until next year.
Every Yakuza game it's only 15 - 20 hours long if you only do the main story. With the exception of Y5 and 7.
I want to do the side quests, I did most of them in 0, 7 and the Judgments. They're too fun to ignore.
I'm playing random shit like Hatsune Miku until IW hits. Then I'll play that hard for a week then alternate between it and Persona.
I need to finish the Yuffie DLC in FF7R and Crisis Core before IW comes out.
Playing Ishin right now, then PoP and then Yakuza 8.
>Metroid series playthrough
>Y8
>maybe an SMT playthrough again and do 3/4/4a/5
I'll see what P3R is like since it's on game pass, but I really can't get into Persona despite wanting more press turn combat.
I'm doing whatever until Yakuza then after I finish I'll play P3R. After P3R is Dragon's Dogma 2 and then maybe I'll go back and play Granblue Relink if I hear good things
Yakuza 8, then Dragon's Dogma 2 and finally Earth Defense Force 6
Lost Judgment until Y8, Y8 until Dragon's Dogma 2, then probably play older games because none of the other stuff I want has a release date yet.
I have P4G, Stardew (have hardly touched it) and the Katamari Steam releases to hold me over for RGG8
Finishing the Plat for Bloodborne, Legend of Dragoon, and Dragons Dogma while trolling in BF2042 until Dragons Dogma 2 comes out. Might replay Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers
I haven't really enjoyed a Yakuza since 4. Maybe 5.
I'm currently at 6 and it's ok. Worst part is combat is janky as hell. 5 was absolutely kino and overall one of the best.
https://www.nexusmods.com/yakuza6/mods/18
But this is why both 1 and 2 kiwami feel uncanny with their low energy story and substories and high energy kiwami additions creating an atmosphere dissonance
>joongi doesn't have head trauma anymore
curses
>Unlocks Perfect Guard counteract (for the DoD/Yakuza style)
I'll cum if it's actually the Tiger Drop and it ragdolls the enemies
is blind resistance against flashbangs?
Kashiwagi, my beloved
yes, but it's for anything that causes the Stun status effect, which also goes for a few physical attacks
I think it'll just be Komaki Knockback instead and not Tiger Drop, considering how much they tend to lock Tiger Drop early on, but Komaki Knockback will interrupt any action people try and do.
>didnt seem like kiryu could equip weapons in dragon of dojima style based on the demo
>wondered how that would work by endgame if everyone’s equipped witth maxed out weapons while he’s stuck with fists that have 0 stats
>they gave him a version of ichiban’s personality system and all of it just boosts his stats as a reppacement for no weapons in that job
interesting way of dancing around that i guess
the tiger drop is already in a skill in the demo. he does a combo that pisses off an enemy and tiger drops them
>yakuza is so fricking stylish
>really want to like the games
>but they're 90% cutscenes, 5% walking and only 5% combat
really need a western studio to make an entry and turn those numbers around
>really need a western studio to make a game with less cutscenes
>but they're 90% cutscenes, 5% walking and only 5% combat
Are you just running from story node to story node, because 90% of my gameplay is doing all the side shit and then occasionally having a story moment once I'm done for the time being
>western studio
>less cutscenes
Legitimately made me lmao. It would be the same amount of not more, but some of them would let you walk around at a snails pace while people yammer on around you
I don't think you've played a Yakuza game if that's what you think. Also lmao at thinking a western studio wouldn't put even more cutscenes in the game.
Can't wait for the mod that lets me play the entire game as a beatemup.
When does 7's story pick up?
chapter 7, everything before that is the intro to the story and mechanics. I wouldn't even do much side stuff until Chapter 7 or Chapter 9. Just run through it.
>more hours spent on 3 than on 5
i kneel
Where will 8 fit in?
Producer man says it's the longest main campaign they've ever done, over 70 hours if you just do the main quest. Almost twice as long as Y5. Producer man also said if you tried to do all the side stuff, "it may never end. "
https://automaton-media.com/en/interviews/20231225-24821/
Idk if I will replay it 13 times like I did Y0, but I would probably assume it's going to be top 3, just on the first run. Probably no achievement/trophy for Legend since NG+ appears to be locked behind DLC. I would assume this is probably the biggest game they've made by far. (and that's a good thing)
What's bucket list?
Kiryu walking the earth to meet everyone he's ever met and do some kind of substory, etc with them. Lots of returning characters he visits (since he has cancer and is going to die and shit (supposedly))
Are they all going to Hawaii?
Kiryu is for a bit but he goes back to Tokyo. Kiryu and Ichiban have their own parties. Tomizawa is Ichban's Black Mage where as Namba returns to do it for Kiryu.
>when Kiryu goes back to Tokyo the combat becomes real time while the turn based takes place in Hawaii
Based
A large part of the game is going to take place in Ijincho with Kiryu, so we'll probably get some bits in Sotenbori (since Gaiden was supposed to be a DLC and most it takes place there).
But I had that thing on and nothing changed, even going to different maps and reloading from the mian menu.
that amulet absolutely should work what the fugg
You get a small movement radius in IW to fix that.
sweet. regardless it's a day one buy for me, can't wait.
That doesn’t fix the enemies moving
It really baffles me when people act like it’s so much better now when the game still has all the same issues
It’s gonna devolve into essence spam again
It helps somewhat.
I don't think it adds anything substantial.
thanks anon
Please tell me there is Japanese audio and english subs.
These preview videos having english voices makes me physically cringe.
duh
Of course there's a subbed option, it's just that sega seems like they've mandated dub trailers only on their english language channels. They're doing the same thing for the Persona 3 remake, it sucks.
Are spoilers out yet? Does Kiryu die at last? And by "die" I mean die for real, not some lame fakeout.
>Kiryu is choosing not to seek treatment
He's gonna live
Nah they need to kill off old protags to make room for the new "fan favorites"
The only problem with Ichiban is that they made him too old. He's only around 12 or so years younger than Kiryu and will be an old man too by the next game. Are they gonna ditch him for another new protag soon?
It wouldn't surprise me if he only gets a trilogy
Of all the games of this franchise, wich one has the biggest maps? I know most of the Yakuza are out of competition but I never played Like a Dragon, Judgement nor the late Yakuza games.
Size is apparently "Hawaii" (claimed by devs at least, though it has yet to be fully seen) > Yokohama (Yakuza 7/Lost Judgment) > Kamurocho (Yakuza 4 underground and rooftops) > Kamurocho (Yakuza 0 since you still had the park and the area where the Millennium Tower is supposed to be) > Fukuoka > Kamurocho (Yakuza 1-3, 5) > Kineicho > Onomichi > Sotenbori > Tsukimino iirc.
thanks my dude
Sorry, forgot a few as well. Downtown Ryukyu (Yakuza 3) is relatively small so I'd put it probably close to Tsukimino size, and Yakuza 6 Kamurocho got shrunk down because of the Dragon Engine build + story events, so it's probably closer to Kineicho size.
what about the FOTNS map?
Eden the city is pretty small, smaller than downtown Ryukyu I'd say since you can walk from one end of the city to another in roughly a minute. The Wasteland is the largest map by far considering you have to drive everywhere to make even a sizeable dent, but it's also pretty empty.
Note that "big maps" doesn't mean "content-filled". Yokohama may be large, but it's pretty fricking empty.
Yeah no, I wanted the actual most large ones in term of square foot.
Well now that I got someone who played them all. Of all these, wich one is the closes to an open-world
> context
In my opinion the southern side below the station is fine but the only worthwhile parts on the northern side are Chinatown and the park on the seafront.
very cool brah too bad it's boring ass turn based gameplay for nerds
Sex with Chitose
she looks really fricking good in the dress
cute
Got I cannot wait to dress her up.
>I need tips. Y5 is a fricking chore to work through
here's your tip: You're a tasteless homosexual
I feel this series died after og yakuza 2,
I'm currently on 5 and Harukas idol shit is terrible and i dread playing 6 and 7
holy
i'm so hard
where you getting these from?
kinda fridgemode
>giant shark boss
Day 1 buy with all dlc
lightning ass curse strikes again
>3 more weeks until the game releases
If only time could move faster
Really wish they released it back in November/December or at least early-mid January tbh. Too many games coming out at the same time and I'm also going back to work in February.
no one ever releases games during any of the major breaks. I guess they figure people are out doing other stuff or something and their fomo marketing would take a sales hit.
BRING
HIM
BACK
Hot and Sticky Kiryu-Haruka 11y/o First Ovulation SEX!!!
that is definitely not an 11 year old
I am starting to think this is the actual reason he run the frick away in the beginning of y5 and not because of some silly korean chihuahua-sized cougar screeches.
ON THE TAIL
>you can actually visit other people's dondoko islands
Holy shit, rgg is actually going to make a better animal crossing than nintendo
where did you see this?
the cabaret is only necessary for the platinum, and getting rid of the cinematics doesn't make it stop working iirc
hype is dead huh is the turn based combat that bad
I just bought it and I'm planning to dummy out the video files so I don't have to waste like 40 fricking gigabytes on them
you have to visit the cabaret and do 1 round yes
great
I hope they never do this shit again or if they do, they fricking compress the video files next time
There’s exactly one mission where you get sent to investigate a club and do a single round. After that you never have to go again and I’m not sure if there’s actually a reason to do them at all beyond being a completionist
I did em but skipped all the cutscenes, was the last thing I needed achievement wise so I dealt with it .
You'll let me visit your Dondoko Island, right?
Where was this announced
I need to quit coming to these threads and watching videos. They spoil fun surprises
then leave now, the previews spoil everything that's not the story.
Is the combat fixed? Y7s combat was a joke that devolved into essence spam
Forgot to say but bosses are still boring as frick, at least the ones in the demo
That sucks maybe I'll pass on this one.
>However, I think my favorite combat feature was Smackdown which allows you to instantly end fights from enemies under a specific level
Ah yes, mine too is the skip the shit battle system button
>IW is moronicly big
>actually has a smaller file size than gaiden
the wonders that not wasting 50gb on demos that you can't install separately and e-prostitute live action videos can do
cope
kson is sexy
The hype for this feels fake like with ishin kiwami
I predict it’s gonna have the same impact as that game
nah
no eceleb trailers make this feel more authentic tbh
K2 got off lightly but still got tremendously fricked with, compared to K1's butchery and Ishin being all kinds of fricked.
instead of all this 'you can move slightly' and shit, they should have gone harder on making interactions between enemies more fluid like the original april fools video did
Dungeons are just gonna be hallways with forced encounters again, aren’t they?
the dlc practices are so shit for this game. im just being deluxe edition for the 1% chance that i’ll be interested in the bonus dungeon/ng+
Brawler mod for Kiryu sections only in 8, clearly
We already got like an alpha or beta of something that does that for LAD and as
says it should be totally doable for IW too.
You gave me hope bros. I'll probably just wait for the mod as I'll be busy with other games.
I am disappointed that Yakuza 7 fell for the
>boss fight
>immune 99% of status effects
I can't remember anything but Saeko's defense down debuff working on bosses.
Supposedly this mod tries to mend that a bit in its many, MANY changes.
https://www.nexusmods.com/yakuzalikeadragon/mods/163
they made perfect sense though
the okinawaman hates cold
the snow prisoner hates cold
the dude who was tortured for a year hates fire
>Final Fantasy goes all in on real time
>Yakuza goes all in on turn based
Who the frick used the monkey paw
I'm on chapter 4 for 7, when does the story start getting good/
It doesn't, you got jebaited by dublets and streamer slurpers
I don't watch streamers and I only play the games sub.
I think it's after you get all the party members that things really start moving forward in the plot.
Huge spoiler for one of the bosses in IW.
looks like a PS2 game.
Longest story basically translates to more filler and mandatory side shit
Wouldn’t be surprised if they put in more grinding towers instead of having normal level scaling
