This is all bollocks because ogryns and ratlings differ more from the human form than eldars do. The Imperium runs on pure hypocrisy and accepts whatever it's profitable to accept.

Not enforced well, at any rate. The planet was discovered by a Rogue Trader, and RTs famously don't give a shit what the Administratum has to say about that sort of thing.

            Anonymous

They're commonly categorized as mutants, but that varies from planet to planet. The arbites categorize them as "proscribed citizens", which precludes them from most off-world travel and being counted towards an imperial tithe. I think it's implied that they aren't seen in military service (because GW doesn't make the models anymore) because puritanical inquisitors persuaded the munitorum to alter their classification.

        >The most the Imperium would likely tolerate are cat-like eyes. Anything else is abomination.
The imperium tolerates Ogryns and Navigators and Space Marines and Ratlings and Squats and the goddamn Space Wolves literally turn into goddamn wolves due to their fricked up geneseed, normal humans with cat-ears and claws would not be outside the range of acceptable abhuman especially if the traits were consistent and bred true (i.e they're not random chaos mutations but regular genetically inheritable traits)

          Anonymous

"Tolerate" being the key word. Most abhumans are tolerated because they're useful. Marines are the Emperor's creations and as such get a free pass as long as they don't stray too far. Not all Imperials even like Marines, it's just hard to worship the Emperor as a god and claim his creations were a mistake.

I'm pretty sure DCoK would be strongly adverse to, or at least confused by getting hugged. The Guard's so varied in culture (and genetic makeup) as a whole, some guardsmen probably see their position in the Guard as easier than life on their homeworld, others are probably terrified nonstop, I'd hesitate to put a lable on the Guard as a whole or make assumptions about individual guardsmen.

What I've heard was that the guy who won the first 40k championship was allowed to add anything to 40k lore, and he chose anime catgirls.

          Anonymous

I've heard that too but with no evidence to back it up I assume it's just another urban legend/game of telephone. Like people claiming Starcraft was supposed to be a 40K game but they couldn't secure the license when the reality is Blizzard internally discussed reaching out to GW back when Warcraft was in development but ultimately decided to pursue founding and growing their own IPs instead after getting burned on their last licensed game.

            Anonymous

What was their last licensed game? Before you say WarCraft, that was also not a warhammer game at any point, that's another myth.

              Anonymous

The Death and Return of Superman is the one that caused them to swear off licensed games iirc. Which makes sense, as I heard the Superman 64 team had similar issues with DC suits and that they're the reason it became a game about flying through rings and not much else.
              >Before you say WarCraft
I literally just explained that one: they internally discussed pitching it as a WHF to GW before agreeing they should do their own thing instead. It was heavily inspired by Warhammer to be sure but as you said it wasn't a "hastily repurposed WHF game" as the urban legend goes.

Spoke to a bloke at GW's HQ who told me felinids are being hashed out. The thinking is they're a race of busty all-female catgirls that were genetically engineered by a horny planetary governor. At the discretion of the governor, they only get deployed against Slaaneshi cults and Emperor's Children. For some inexplicable reason they're only given unloaded pistols to fight with while being recorded at all times by skull probes.

        What sort homosexual are you?

          Anonymous

*should NOT - my mistake and typo there. Genuinly speaking the Ctarl-Ctarl and Puma Sisters are very much fitting in with the baseline Aesthetic of 40k beeing "Would look cool on a 80s / 90s Metal Album Cover". I guess, if you want to make them a bit more exotic looking, you could go a bit more into the direction of lets say the furry guys from Fire Emblem or give them a more cat-like apperance in terms of there human body proportions. Its not like 40k can't be a bit silly, Necromunda is complete Bonkers and one of the best parts of the setting for it.

40k has always drawn heavily from 80s and 90s media. So if we somehow do get official felinids, I strongly suspect they'll end up looking a lot like the Thundercats.

        Anonymous

I think original Thundercats would be a perfect balance, not too anime, not too furry, alien yet feline enough and 80's coolness

I think that was the intention of the guy that had them added to the setting. If I remember correctly he won a competition or something and he got to add a pice of fluff to 40k

I want them to be in there. I want at least some of them to fit the catgirl archetype. First of all because Warhammer's Warhammer even with catgirls and far more importantly because it would cheese off a certain type of Warhammer Fanboy who's far too seriouspants and not even in a misplaced quest for realism in warhammer sort of way. You know the ones.

      Anonymous

yeah it would also be fun to see the disparity in the grimdarkness of the universe against the catgirls' natural genkiness. People here would get so fricking asspained though, I can't even blame them though. You'd get such an influx of legitimately obnoxious troglodytes who jump in every discussion to turn it into loreshit.

      >You know the ones.
Hell yeah brother, the kind that doesn't seem to grasp that 40k isn't real.

      Anonymous

I'd rather not have them follow the genki formula. Instead, I'd like them to spec into being really enthusiastic and bombastic big game hunters.
As I saw it put once, the reason cats have the preferred prey that they do is because that is what they can efficiently hunt. If cats had human intelligence and tools, they'd look at a T-Rex and see Dinner. Put a bell on them? They become even better stealth hunters because they learn to not let the bell ring unless they want it to.
Eyeballing an equivalent role on the battlefield, maybe put them as Anti-Vehicle or Anti-Hero Infantry (depending on loadout) that're weak to standard infantry? Maybe with a Trophy Hunter ruleset where they get stronger the more Characters or Vehicles they kill?

I drew this Felinid Guardsman a while ago. Since the species name just means "Hairy Human" and Kroot apparently can't tell them apart from baseline humans. These two facts indicated to me that they look probably a lot like humans with hypertrichosis

          why

The mech suit things and the rounded breastplates in the artwork remind me of the votunn. Or do you mean why would I rather not have them as their own army? That's mostly just because I like the idea of regular guard regiments.

          Anonymous

Not just that, but "his darling" calls them hot as frick. His "darling" being a voice in his head that either belongs to a daemon or to the God-Emperor himself. Meaning hot catgirl ass is enough to sway either Emps himself or turn a Warpspawn away from Chaos for a spell

            Anonymous

Given the other lines, the psyker's beloved is likely a fragment of the Emperor's consciousness. So catgirls get a pass at the highest level of Imperial authority.

              >the psyker's beloved is likely a fragment of the Emperor's consciousness.
That's my personal belief too, but there's also a strong case for it being some tzeenchian daemon doing a funny. Some other anon once said there was some side story on their website that strongly implied the latter but he never brought forth any evidence, so instead I prefer to go with the interpretation that Emps fricked loves catgirls.
