My friends know I'm obsessed with PM (or how the call it "the Lobotomy game series") and want to try the game, but one of them is my friend who doesn't even watch a single cutscene and skips everything, the other got hard walled by LobCorp already.

I will be satisfied if they fix the overly verbose list of passives and game effects, make them easily readable and add keywords to decrease the number of paragraphs of simple effects. Maybe add text formating like ygo/mtg for the effect triggering, something like (on hit) (emotion up) (turn end) instead of making it a long explanation that drags on with the other eight passives each character has
Time will tell as always, but I do have hope in them, but we do have to see the gacha rates and all other monetization details, I know I’m not a big expender, but that’s mostly because usually the relation between cost and benefit is not reasonable to me, if a roll is cheap I can see myself casually supporting them from time to time, but expending money in a possible bare minimum roll is not fun for me, if is too expensive or the rates a really bad then I may simply invest in the usual special gachas that guarantees me something.
Yet, the fact that this game won't have duplicates already seem like a good sign for me, I also hope that the season pass won’t be more expensive than buying Library of Ruina.
Seemingly there was no sign of upgrading identities either, so on top of lacking a need to get dupes to get full power, maybe the only thing you have to worry about is leveling up identities, which means you have to spend less time managing inventory and such. Hopefully at least.

Both the EGO and ID screen literally have a synchronization level stat with a sliding wheel depicted.
The "upgrade" part of the game is still the biggest mystery, we haven't seen anything about it.

I don't know whether or not any of these have been confirmed/deconfirmed because I don't wanna look it up till the game comes out but this is my wishlist.
My guess is there'll be no built in pity but the duplicate mechanics will act as a defacto pity, since you'll exhaust the pool of filler IDs fairly quickly every roll that isn't an SR/SSR will give you a bit of currency so you can craft the SSR you want.
Whether that's any good depends on the numbers though.

you know anon, I dont know how to tell you this but 40 mins is not that long to play a video game for.
The problem is when those 40 minutes are made up of an unfun checklist and menu navigation that you go through every single day. The base management, the recruitment, the unskippable auto mode during event grinding is the reason I dropped Arknights. Things got a bit better when Annihilation skip was introduced, but it's still a massive chore that feels like doing Excel shit at the office

But the base management is LobCorp is constantly changing, you keep getting new abnos, new EGO, new departments, new missions, new recruits. In Arknights once you're past a certain point, you just constantly switch the same two teams around every 12 hours. That's what I'm complaining about, the monotony

The inclusion of a stamina system necessitates the inclusion of a sweep system. Period. No matter how fun a game is, if you're forced to log in twice a day, it'll start feeling like a chore sooner or later. Stamina is a resource you spend to help with the grind, and not using it induces FOMO. Imagine if you had to boot up Ruina twice a day to farm Finn's battle in order to get enough resources to level up your cards and be able to tackle the Ensemble
The only way to implement a stamina system well is to let the maximum cap be like a week's worth. This way, you don't have to worry about logging in every day

You just click auto play and watch the AI do the same thing you did for 15 minutes with ZERO interaction, repeat as many times as the game requires you to do for dailies/farming. This is not a gameplay element.

You do realize sweep skips having to watch anything at all right? Sweep is a function you unlock that auto completes a level, instantly, and you get the rewards. It's there in case you want to just merely get the stamina emptying done quick and have no time to play anything, or don't feel like it. This won't work on mirror dungeon most likely though since that one is a roguelike.
Sorry, I've only played games with auto-play. I didn't know sweeps were an entirely different function.
Actually I don't think I've played games with the sweep function. I play offline casuals more often than online games.
Well it's basically a function that unlocks once you 100% a stage and or get max rank on it. It's better than auto in the long run since it saves time and battery in case you're doing it on your mobile. You can also set how many times the sweep happens, like say, you have a stage that gives resources, and costs 10 stamina, and you have 100, set it to 10 and you'll get 10 runs worthy of rewards in one go.
But again, not really available on modes with rogue like elements, just static repeatable content.

It's often not THAT hard to get max rank in something, or 3 stars is how it's usually presented. You must be really unmotivated if so.
To me if it means progressing to the next level then a B-rank completion or 2 stars will work.
If I've finished the game then that's when I'll bother to get max rank on everything.
Maybe I never noticed the sweep function because I also rarely or never really use the auto-play function (sometimes I forget it even exists).
To be fair, unless the story stages have farmable content, and you're only bothering to do those, then you wouldn't really see it.

Tbh I'm kinda worried on how the interface will work on mobile. Considering the screen size of most mobiles (assuming you're not using a tablet) the icons might be small, not visually speaking, but during gameplay. I mean, I've played games with similar icon sizes as shown during the snippets.
TGS testers liked the game and PM puts lots of effort into artsy stuff like the UI (just look at how many times they changed it during development), so I think you shouldn't worry that much.

No, Charon is a result of Lapis coming out fine from the test pods, she was fine, but her self was swapped out by an alternative who calls itself Charon, much to Vergil's dismay, Lapis is gone.
She then runs across cocoon leftovers which he had turned into after succumbing to despair, which seemed to be dead after schadenfreude broke it into pieces, but when she touched it, it started to shine and emit heat, showing it was alive. Faust and Limbus company A then invade the place, which Vergilius first thinks is the taboo hunters there to kill them since the technology was was technically inside of N.corp grounds, and filming it is a violation, she then offers him to join Limbus with the promise of bringing back both Lapis and Garnet, and it ends with him asking what her story is.
Also unless you want to use MTL, the final few chapters are still not translated.
I think the story will end in "tragedy" (Dante is better than Garnet and same for Charon with Lapis) and Vergil ends up discovering he can't bring everyone back.
Or he was nurturing the Sinners to have them fed into some machine to bring them back and Dante refuses and the squad murders Vergil.
Vergil's new personality is really suspicious. He sounds so annoyed and cranky.

She tells Vergilius there is a way to pursue his dream before he fricks off from her mind space.

We really need more info on well...everything. We still don't have concrete details about the battle pass let along about anything else. There's not much (if any) advertising, just a few gameplay and early story chapter videos. It also looks like no sort of closed testing will take place. So, it's likely that the launch will have issues, and they'll have no excuse for it. I don't want to be a doomer but faith can only take me so far. I'll play it but I alone won't be enough to keep the game online.
Out of curiosity and in the interest of sparking discussion, are you considering buying the battlepass ? And if yes, what is your cutoff price beyond which you'd just refuse ?

I always buy at least a monthly pass if I actually stick with a gacha as a way to support the devs for their work. There's too much we don't know about the game to determine how worthwhile the battle pass is, or if there are other, more attractive offers available to us. If the battle pass is good value I'll definitely consider it; regarding how much I'd pay? I don't see myself spending more than €7 per month...so I'd pay €30 for the battle pass if it were 4 months long.

well Don behavior is sort of expected, the character she is based on was known for behaving like a mad man and attacking people and property, yeah there is quite a difference between the somewhat comical behavior of Don Quixote and limbus Don murder eyes, but that’s likely an effect of the City and the setting, is likely all sinners have a form or degree of insanity, that’s the sort of people the City usually creates, and the characters or books the sinners are inspired aren’t exactly model examples of mental health
I do wonder how they are going to handle Meursault, is he simply not going to give a shit about anything? Reaching the conclusion that there is little point in finding value in human life and life itself in general seems like something many would reach in the City

I think it's gonna depend on how well it does, I do not expect voice acting for every little thing, and maybe only chapter 1.
In guardian tales, they made two big chapters which is where shit finally hits the fan voice acted when it got a server in Japan, it was so well received, they've been slowly adding voice acting to all the previous worlds so far, and any new world has voice acting in it. Since its making them decent money I guess they have the money to splurge on voice acting like that. But most other side content is unvoiced.

I doubt there's any point in replaying older story stages besides completing all the challenges.
Once the story is complete you'll play the Mirror Dungeon and do your daily best and then spam all the remaining energy grinding somewhere. Events or I don't know what.

We have no idea, only thing we have confirmed is that there are "Ascensions" to do to Identities and EGOs and that you can level them up, that's it.
Mirror Dungeon mode gives you rewards once daily (not sure if it's just 1 try or you just need to try to beat your record that day and can try infinite times).
After that? Who knows.

Yeah, that's a positive of that game. Still, progress (powering up your character) is locked behind energy and weekly lookouts there too.
I made the comparison with genshin because in that game, even if I don't have resin, I can still do the open world, quests, etc
it looks like limbus is doing a "no energy = no game" deal, and I don't like games telling me when I should stop playing them, that should be my decision

Genshin is structured for exploration to be fair, and it requires a lot more of your time daily if you plan on farming all the little things. Limbus is more of a pop in, play a bit daily, and frick off, or play it while doing something else once you run out of stuff to do.
I personally gave up on Genshin because the artifact grind by endgame was way too RNG heavy, and annoying as shit. The story was also stagnating a bit too much at the time I left, though I think It picked back up after a recent patch or something.

It feels so weird to me that they have ALL the systems implemented to manually design clashes during Abnormalities fight and yet won't allow us to do it in regular fights. They're so FIXATED on this that skills have "lanes" priorities and even taunt effects. It's so weird.
I suppose that they want boss fights (Abnormalities) to be tricky puzzle battles like usual but want goon fights to be quick fights, perfect for mobile? But then what about boss battles against other humans?
I think human bosses will have goons like in most of lor or have some high resistances and stats to compensate
If anything not letting the player micromanage goonfights makes them more drawn out, since the optimal strategy in those in Ruina was always to ignore clashes and focus fire one guy at a time because action economy advantage trumps everything else. Simply put, goon fights aren't interesting strategically in ruina and this simplification is probably an attempt to raise their potential difficulty a bit.
I do think this is a big part, focusing down a character was the optimal strategy in ruina by a long shot. It feels a bit cheap fixing it by removing the option all together but I can't really think of any good alternatives ways around it either, it's something that affects most rpgs with group battles.

Story and universe is good. Company puts care and passion into the game. Characters are fun. Different formula from throwing 1 million characters at you and focuses on a small group instead.
Also, as long as turn based RPG games go, this doesn't seem even that bad anyway. Even in DQ11 I just spammed the same attacks and combos all the time.

Setting is basically the same, with previous 2 games focusing on one particular group of people while other media touches more so on the world
As of now there are two games, one and a half comic, and one and a half novel series (one comic got turned into novels midway through).
It's an ongoing narrative in a dystopian setting, that's dark, but not so dark you can't see hope at the end. The first game has a really great narrative integrated to the gameplay to justify gameplay aspects, and the second game is like Limbus, with clashing against each other and stuff.
Also the cast of Limbus is all based off book characters, Don Quixote, The stranger, Faust, Moby Dick and so on.
Adding to it; it has the mechanical complexities of an actual computer game, but on mobile.

I feel like ego corrosion being a bit of a "jesus take the wheel situation" is kind of a missed opportunity. I like the idea of the party turning into powerful monsters that have big drawbacks to balance out, but them fighting each other is way too big a risk to even try if the odds are even moderately high. It's a lot of cool sprites and animations locked behind a feature that seems like it won't be optimal (unless there's some kind of piper ego that allows you to control them indirectly, that'd be cool).
Maybe there's a way to control it down the line for a moment or something. Corrosion happens if you're weak to it, so maybe if you upgrade EGO and the identity to an extent there could be a feature to forcefully integrated with the EGO on the field for different moves for a few turns?

When ruina came out in early access it felt like the obvious prototype of a really boilerplate mobile game, what with feeding pages to one another for exp, with the associated grinding required. After they announced limbus I got concerned that this is where they'd unload all these shit mechanics, but it looks like it inherited more from the finished ruina than from its early iterations, which is reassuring.
We still don't know much about upgrades and leveling up. Hold.

Since people brought up Genshin earlier, I know the mobile version of it when first downloaded is 14gb, with PC genshin being 30-something.

I pray this game has fights so assclenchingly hard that it leaves me waking up in a cold sweat for nights afterward to the sounds of turn changing claps. The pre nerf Lovetown and Ensemble fights ruined me for any semblance of difficulty in other games.
They have an excuse to tune them extra hard and never nerf them because of the existence of the Hard Stage versions.
LoR "players" would complain because they couldn't progress with the game, here they can just make the story relatively easy and then make brutally Hard difficulty version of the stages and people wouldn't complain, or if they do, they can always go with the classic "Ummm it's supposed to be hard, sweaty :)".
The experience of fighting lovetown, Xiao, and the ensemble floor fights were just mwah. Gacha hard modes are usually too much trouble for ne to bother with, but I'll be the happiest sinner on earth if this turns into a nonstop supply of harsh lovetown tier fights on the event/hard fights.

Sometimes they're just lame "whale or lose" or "this enemy? it has 2 billion HP this time, kill it in 4 turns btw lol" kind of "hard", just artificial difficulty. But I trust in PMoon.
For example, if an Abnormality story battle has a puzzle mechanic, failing it in the story version just causes the Abnormality to mass attack you and heavily damage you, in a Hard version it could just straight up oneshot your team and game over, so you can't ignore it. Also make the puzzle harder to complete. And ofc make it stricter damage wise, so you're forced to play Identities and EGOs that deal and resist the correct Sin damage.
But do you figure they're gonna make specific characters the 'puzzle pieces'? A lot of gacha games have particular heroes who shine in events or particular fights, and in some bad cases, basically force you to whale to get them and then powerlevel them in time. While what you said is the best case scenario, it's not as profitable as making the latest banner have the answers...

You're right but I think PM will try to get people to buy the BP or cosmetics more than anything else, if people whales on it then even better, but how do you even whale in a game like that? There's no duplicates, you can just save resources for the next best unit (gotta see how much of that resource we lose every season btw).
Also yes, due to the nature of the game I think every Hard stage will have its own op unit or team comp making it way easier, but like every gacha people will try to clear them with shitty units too, kinda like people clear the Abyss in Genshin with poorgay units for the sake of challenge or proving a point or helping f2p or new players.
Girl's Frontline (WHEN I LAST PLAYED IT YEARS AGO) was mostly like this. Massive grind, but no energy system, and they made their money through dumb whales and cosmetic buys. While energy is confirmed from what I see in the thread, I'm hopeful it'll be generous enough to where only no lifers will feel that no energy pain.

If you want to be technical, the EGO is the equipment.
You can bring up to 5 differently ranked pieces into combat per character, and you equip them using in-combat resources.
I would consider ego different than the standard asiatic equipment substat rolling cancer
Absolutely; but it is something I assume we have to farm through dungeons, as the BP EGO's seems to be non-story ones.
And while it doesn't have randomized stats or sub-stats, it's still something I assume we have to farm to widen our toolboxes in order to deal with future challenges.
So it's not asiatic equipment, but I still kinda think of them as equipment.
I could imagine them doing something like Alchemy stars where everyone has a piece of unique equipment but it just makes your skill stronger if you feed it a particular mat you need to farm
there are stats to the equipment but it doesn't have RNG bullshit
So far we only know of EGO, and that equipping it can make a shit sin stat a sinner has better, outside of the special move.

You still need to get people to spend money. Honestly, it's a difficult line. Like the biggest issue is always how will dupe works. Like in Arknights, it's extremely minor and not even worth thinking about most of the time, while other games like Genshin it's a make or break for a lot of characters and maxing out is absurd. Plus any pvp or player ranking system causes people to spend more.

Selling old Announvers 2 seasons after it appeared on the Battlepass would be in-line with their non-limited design on for example EGO and ID.

If it's anything like Guardian tales, no you do not need duplicates, any other dupe you get just serves to give you a currency which you can use to limit break a unit's max level to make them stronger and mileage is gained through pulling my itself and other events. It does have a lot of other stuff in the mix though.
No there aren't, unless they changed it from September (extremely doubt it).
When you get a dupe you get some resource to buy any Identity you want. Of course I doubt it's a 1:1 conversion, it will be probably be a very minuscule amount, but still.
Also, part of said resource is confirmed to be lost end season. We don't know how much, we don't know if it's a percentage of it or there's an hard cap to how much of it you can bring into another season.
Maybe the gacha won't have a pity to "compensate".
I imagine the dupes effictively will be the pity. Past your first few rolls you'll effectively have all the filler characters and be rolling nothing but dupes woth the occasional SR/SSR. If the rates are decent and you get an okay amount of free currency I can honestly see it being possible for even dolphins to outright get every character.

Also, not exactly a full happy ending anyway, the city isn't fixed, all she did was rectify all that happened inside the library to an extent, what happened outside as a consequence is still there to stay, Tommerry wrecked an orphanage and so on. Plus the city is probably gonna need their help in the future once she challenges the head again.

the line I said was what hit me the hardest by far. I think by how she was described, it's more overly confident, less egoistic confident. But because of this, she is easily perceived as 'rude' and such. That's basically it, every time you clear it you get an amount of exp depending on how far you got and for each level up you get on its reward track you get rewards. usually capped at a certain level kind of like how battle passes have a maximum of 100 levels.
Every new run is different from the other because you get different power ups/encounters etc so it's a fun mode to play whenever you have time because it's always there.

I have the complete Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint webnovel in pdf format, and it has a lot of pages.
But those are written using very simple prose, with little to no subtext to decypher. Reading literary fiction is a much more mentally taxing experience

The last Friday before release we're most likely going to be bombarded with different videos; Mili's song that she's been working on; a video on how IDs and ranking up IDs are going to go, a mirror dungeon playthrough, some more combat examples.
I believe that PM simply doesn't want people to focus on the gacha aspect, despite that being the only thing people -want- to talk about because we love to be outraged.
PM is moronic but not moronic enough to make it super greedy. Without counting that the dupes system and the BP show that they'd rather you to buy it every season and that's it.
PM is also borderline scared of their fanbase. if a handful of chinese autists sending death threats over an experimental update in an EARLY ACCESS game was enough to make them roll it back within hours and not push the actual update for a week, imagine the potential shitstorms around a game where people's real money is at stake.

Huh, never thought about it. It would be cool if you could raise the rank of lower rarity Identities to the max. Fire Emblem Heroes had this and I loved it.
And for the basic Identities they could get upgrades as you progress further in the story, which could create some cool possibilities as the characters grow and face their pasts in the story.

EGO seems to be primarily battle pass, and I'm sure having stuff like QoH EGO would make the battle pass sell like hotcakes.

Nothing. I'm a max level player (both regular and IS) with most operators raised and I only play it when they raise the cap. The RNG endings are the fricking worst.
The random event based endings make me see red too, but by far the worst thing about the gamemode is that the playable units with the best aesthetics are exclusive to it.

No it's not. A majority gatekeeps rolls in some capacity, where you have to beat up to a certain point in the game.
ligma bus will allow easy rerolling so you can speedrun or macro the starting rolls.
this is nothing fricking new. F2Pers do this to get a headstart. 3 of the last gacha i saw flat out allowed you to reroll the starting roll without need to reinstall or relink the account
I just never see it featured in most of the ones I tried then. The norm from what I saw is to allow it after you're done with at least a certain part of the game.
It is in fact extremely rare though becoming more common recently. If you look at across all gachas regardless of ages, probably 1% or less of them let you do that. If you only look at recent games, probably more like ~10-15%.

I think it's saying, no matter the tier, all EGO has the same pull chance no matter what. Higher tier EGO probably have some drawback like requiring tons of sanity to pull off safely, and extra resources.

A way to balance EGOs could be them requiring multiple Sins rather than 2-3. That way you're forced to diversify your team to be able to use them.
TETH EGOs can also be used to quickly reset your weaknesses into resistances.
EGO all has the same pull chance collectively, since the idea is that the different tiers fill different niches (cheap and spammable or expensive and big nuke or powerful but situational effect or whatever) rather than identities where rarer is better.
EGO has dupe protection, ID dupes instead give you shards which you can buy other stuff.

Looking at how the gacha works, unfortunately I get the feeling that this game is gonna be a low rates, low currency sort of game due to how it works. Being able to recoup resources the way they described is hardcaps whaling and is also just if you play long enough, you'll never be short. It's not sustainable unless the rates are awful and the free shit is nonexistent
Not all of them have to follow that formula just because it has safety nets. Plenty of games these days allow you to get tons of currency, or have decent enough rates to compensate.

same as other anon said it’s still early to say, but since limbus is PM’s first gacha and they’re a small company structuring limbus like whale milking gacha with established IPs like fgo and genshin would just piss off fans coming from lob corp/ruina. the 3 month long battle pass already sets limbus apart since at most the average battle pass is 1 month long. i think limbus will be a slowburn game to give the devs and players time
I do hope they can keep up with making events and shit because having dead weeks for a mobage is awful
since limbus is battle focused the events might be ~2 weeks long with a week long break. so comfortably 1 or 2 events per month. truthfully i’m busy with grad school so i don’t want limbus to be the kind of game that floods players with short events back to back

Identity is the characters. You use them and level them up, and upgrade them. EGO goes on the sinners, and it's special attacks that also provide status resistance buffs.
If it's easier to make a fgo comparison, EGOs are more like CEs, while Identities are like alternate versions of your character (santa, alter, santa alter lily, you know it)
Identity is like character's class, you can have tank identity, caster identity, etc. Changes their stats and skills basically.
EGO is equipment, gives some passives (unless I remember wrong) and an active skill, there's five rarities and a character can equip one of each.
Identities are the main equipment for sinners, giving them skills, passives and weaknesses/resistances. They are sinner-locked, as in only Faust may equip Warp Faust (though there are more Warp IDs for other sinners).
EGO are equippable "super moves" that have additional, powerful effects and improve the sinner's Resistances on use. They are also sinner-locked the same way IDs are, and you can only equip 5 at once, 1 for each tier.

Personally for me it will depend on how many pulls you get and the % and how much time it takes.
From the looks of it it won't be hard for day 1 players to get all IDs eventually seeing as dupes give you currency to unlock any ID you don't have and that there are no required dupes to reach certain power levels.
I'm gonna try to reroll for 2 SSRs from the standard banner and bank whatever it is you get from the beginner banner, usually that's a good enough start without trying to go for super lucky rerolls.

That doesn't seem that bad to me, shards are going to be something you passively accumulate while rolling for characters anyway. It's something like 66 roles for a 000 ID at the absolute worst.
It being split per sinner makes it a bit trickier then that, but in the longer run it works out the same unless you're a waifugay aiming solely for a specific sinner.
EGO is definitely worse as far as price goes but I guess they need *some* incentivr to get people to buy the battle pass.
egos are much easier to get in the gacha long run tho, since you never get dupes
Assuming EGOs have an aggregate 3% drop rate, in a year or so it shouldn't be too hard to have all the available EGOs.

The price of IDs is not confirmed yet. The latest we've seen has been 200 Shards for the highest rarity and that info is pretty old. Shards are also sinner-specific so you can only buy IDs of one sinner by obtaining dupes of that sinner.
This is actually incredibly generous assuming those numbers are true.
It might not seem much if you think about it from the pov of a new player with nothing unlocked but it's huge if you stick around for 6months-1year+ as you will be getting a lot of dupes eventually and you will definitely build up a fat stash of shards.
Only problem is that this will sadly most likely force the developers to go down the same route every other gacha ran into to squeeze revenue when their players had too much currency.
Which is making a shitload of limited banners.
The TGS interview mentioned some shards expiring at end of a BP season, don't know if that's still true.
I'd hope not now that shards are character exclusive, you'd need to spend around 800 rolls a season to have enough to buy an SSR ID of each sinner so as to not let any go to waste.

The unified % for them kind of implies that they might be the rarer of the two to acquire and also the fact that they are that much more expensive.
I get the feeling that it will be easy to collect the identities but EGO are going to be the main aspect by which you progress your power level or set your strategy according to.
I really don't get that feeling. Identities are the main thing, and EGO is more of a side thing you use to turn the tide of battle if necessary.
Egos are based on abnormalities and both are way more popular in the PM fandom than the associations and other factions
