The creator never went troon. He's in fact making sequel LNs.

The novels ""end"" with her taking Gourry back to her hometown. But the none of the Slayers stories really end, it's more like the campaign is over.
She's literally introducing him to her father. That's about as conclusive as it gets with these things.
