hey, gays, I'm a sucker for GBC aesthetics, which one of these should I play though? Are the QoL improvements that significant in the remake?

either is fine, pick the one you think looks better
what QoL improvements could there possibly be for the original?
The main one is the button assignment. The original only uses A and B for items and you have to constantly swap out even your sword and shield. The remake has B always assigned to the sword, L to the shield, R to the Pegasus boots, the power bracelet is always active once you collect it and you have X and Y just for other items. It's a lot less fiddling in the menu. Aside from that the other big one is the addition of many more fast travel points.
Damn, the new one looks horrible
literal soul/soulless right there
remakes will always be the worst option
Remake gets some deserving flak for occasional framerate issues but I think it turned out really well. I too like the GBC aesthetics but I think the remake looks decent for what they were going for. Also, they absolutely killed it with the OST. Taking the simple GB tracks and expanding them perfectly, it's one of my favorite aspects of the game
>Are the QoL improvements that significant in the remake?
I'm sure there's already a fan patch for the original game that adds any needed QoL changes if the GBC aesthetic is what you're interested in.
Its a gameboy game anon, theres only 4 buttons.
>puking anime girls.jpg
Who the frick greenlit that god awful blur even without it the new artstyle is disgusting.
Play the remake, it's the exact same game only done in a cute toy art style instead of GBC pixel art.
The only differences I can think of are the claw minigame (arguably better in the remake) and the photo booth got replaced with the dungeon maker minigame.
Or just play one and then if you like it, play the other version in like a few months... the game is not that long anyway.
>cute toy art style
You mean ugly dogshit plastic style.
I liked it. It has a very tactile feel to it.
You have shit taste.
No u.
The GBC looks better and plays better than the remake IMO, but either is good. The remake was neat to see once as a fan of the original, but going back to play it I'd always just play the GBC version.
Original is unplayable compared to the remake. If pausing every 3 seconds to swap items sounds enjoyable to you, then play the original instead.
I like dx more
and then go play oracle of ages/seasons
OLD GOOD
NEW BAD
>can't use dpad
>framerate issues
It's bad
Remake has some slight quality of life improvements
if you can get past the funko pop visuals, it's the best version even though I completely agree with you if you decide to play the OG Gameboy release.
And yeah, the Gameboy release, not DX, don't be a gay.
wtf is this meme? why would you prefer the original monochrome release over the gbc dx one?
OLD GOOD
NEW BAD
even if the games are both old.
DX added a dungeon that makes the game significantly easier, you cannot reject this power up if you complete it.
I'll give you the photos even though that's a pain in the ass on itself since it's really easy to permanently miss some of them but other than that the Monochrome version is better.
Screen warping is fun
>I'm a sucker for GBC aesthetics
then why would you not play the gbc game? lol
the monochrome version is better
>Are the QoL improvements that significant in the remake?
Yes.
>Ganker is still living by "OLD GOOD NEW BAD"
you love to see it
Original Awakening has the worst dungeon theme out of any Zelda game with the Anglerfish Tunnel, being a slightly pitch shifted and sped up version of the cave theme form the same game which is 10 seconds long. Not a comment about the general quality of the game since it actually has one of the best OST of any GB game but a fun thing to observe. Even the remake had no clue what to do with that one so they made a completely new track and weirdly slapped the original tune in there as well sometimes.
>the worst dungeon theme out of any Zelda game
anon have you ever even played Phantom Hourglass? Not only does every dungeon there have the same theme, it's a song that's ultra barren and loops after 10 seconds too
Heh yeah that always bothered me as a kid especially since all the other music kicked ass. The remake OST did a bang-up job expanding some of the more simple tracks into full-blown interesting themes. This one is one of my favorites

There's abosolutely no need to ever play the orginal over the superior remake
>more modes
>more content
>more quests
>better gameplay
>QoL improvements
>widescreen
>screen now scrolls
>utterly gorgeous graphics
/v/troons seethe because its a Switch exclusive.
The remake wasn't all that bad aside from framerate drops and questionable art style. Button assignment is a pretty big improvement and they did improve some parts to avoid potential softlocks.
does the remake still have the rocket launcher?
(bomb + arrow at same time)
Yes.
The remake is pure kino and the """framerate issues""" are made out to be so much worse than they actually are
Play the original first. Then the remake in few years.
Just play the GBC version. Even if it's just to appreciate the devs work to make a good game on such limited hardware
It's shit
