Why are SMRPG fans like this?
>Link's Awakening remake

>OMG THEY'RE CHIBI JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL GAME SOUL TAKE MY MONEY
Why are SMRPG fans like this?
i think you're just too obsessed about what people shitpost about
Mario looks like Mario in SMRPG
Link looks like a funko pop there
I wasn't aware Mario was a spherical midget.
play the original game then
iirc people didnt mind the chibi as much in Links Awakening, people had a bigger issue with the price tag. you should have posted that Diamond and Pearl remake, and even then people shat on it because it looked like fricking garbage.
The SMRPG remake looks fine, though honestly Mario doesn't translate too well in that style, the others seem okay though.
>iirc people didnt mind the chibi as much in Links Awakening, people had a bigger issue with the price tag
And Mario RPG is the same price. Sssooo...?
I don't think this is completely accurate about LA remake.
People were idiots that thought they would ever get a remake of Link's Awakening but with 3D Zelda gameplay and budget. This was always extremely silly and only morons and teenagers would have this expectations knowing that for a such a project, it would need the main Zelda team to step in, which they probably never will since they're supposed to be doing the next Zelda game instead of a remake.
The remake by grezzo was actually amazing for what it was. The artstyle was perfect for the game and elevated the atmosphere in its own way, with the wonderful reorchestrated soundtrack to add to this.
You could tell the team cared for the original game, since they even changed shit like goombas looking too official in the first trailers and made them look properly unofficial, as in the original game.
>People were idiots that thought they would ever get a remake of Link's Awakening but with 3D Zelda gameplay and budget
Holy strawman. No one was asking for "3D Zelda gameplay".
People just didn't want the game to look like funkopop garbage with blurry edges.
If you're keeping the top down gameplay structure you might aswell keep the proportions of the characters or else the original layout of the game won't work at all. Not even mentioning things like character expressions, camera perspective and readability of the actions. The answers to all of these questions were already in the game boy artstyle, and changing it would have been unwise.
In any case you would have people complaining the proportions look all wrong and that it looks weird.
>Holy strawman.
pretty sure reddit is open again, nobody is making you stay here, tourist
>do a claymation style for link's awakening
>don't do it for super mario RPG, the one game it's actually appropriate for
what the frick were they thinking?
It's completely fricked. Link's Awakening should have tried to emulate the anime style of the original official art, whereas SMRPG SHOULD look like how the LA remake does.
Glad I’m not the only one who thought link’s awakening art style was lazy and lame. Game is massively overpriced and overrated. You probably only liked it if you have nostalgia for the original which to me would be unplayable based on what I’ve seen
>Ganker is one person
actually i b***hed about the link's awakening remake because of the funko eyes and fricking obnoxious disgusting vignette.
https://voca.ro/1npKNxuMvyJZ
Because GENO!
Links awakening looks like baby toy shit
And SMRPG does not?
Looks like Mario
t-rex arms
It doesn’t look like dumb shiny plastic toy shit like picrel and it stays faithful to the original
Because the original links awakening game wasn't meant to come off as Chibi. It was an unfortunate restriction of the Gameboy that the remake devs ran with
Mario RPG is this way by design
The original Link's awakening game was a game boy game and in order to remake it, that's the constraints you have to work with, which means you either make it a chibi game (which it was by force), or make a fully fledged 3D Style Zelda game, which grezzo has no expertise doing and nintendo would never let anyone but their own team do.
The remake we got was great and had all the attention to detail you could ask for it.
>which means you either make it a chibi game (which it was by force), or make a fully fledged 3D Style Zelda game
Kek no it doesn't. There is no rule that states that 2D Zelda has to be chibi.
Even if the remake went for a different look people would just b***h that it wasn’t faithful to the original artstyle
LA's artstyle was chibi in the original game as well. Look at the photo album.
You are full of shit OP and trying to stir up shit for no reasons. Why don't you start a facebook group where you post that kond of shit everyday to get people to click and argue? You'd get money out of it instead of seeming like a bored manchild loser with no life.
What if you liked the graphical choices for both but still believe that the price is to steep for both?
I think they both look terrible.
I hate that no dev wants to invest in quality HD spritework.
It's almost like that art style works better for SMRPG than it does Link's Awakening.
see
The artstyle of the game was a mix between chibi and a more normal proportioned one.
they remade the game, not the promotional art, lmao. Do you even fricking play games?
Yet the remake made everything looks like plastic toys. The original did not look like that.
yes, they could have gone for a more classic 2D anime aesthetic. Maybe like a heide or doraemon era art style but less hideous. Though that itself would have been a tenuous interpretation too. Because the only faithful replication would have been a touched up 2D pixel art style. That's just a fact. But honestly not what most "muh authenticity" gays would have wanted.
The original didn't look like anything further than being a gameboy game with very minimalistic aesthetics. Bringing that minimalistic look into a modern 3D design comes with needing to interpret those huge ass pixels into creative decisions. You could give everything flat colours, since the original didn't really have textures, but that would be wasting an opportunity to make something more interesting. For example, giving everything a plastic look fits with the proportions of the trees and characters, and also speaks to the theme of koholint being the product of imagination, relating it to toys. Don't even need to bring up that the tv advert for the game in Japan looked like pic related.
I understand some people being atracted to the idea of something more mature, but the remake did its homework flawlessly to be what it is.
they remade the game, not the commercial, lmao. Do you even fricking play games?
The commercial bit was just for flavor. There's plenty of good reasons to make the remake look like it does and I listed some of them to you. Get fricked.
>Super Mario RPG looks like Super Mario RPG
>Link's Awakening doesn't look like Link's awakening
GEE I WONDER
Link's Awakening remake should have looked like ALBW but in HD. It's already a perfectly reasonable art style and completely appropriate for LA (and the Oracles).
SMRPG fans are probably just happy there is a remake at all. Using the chibi designs seems bizarre to me, especially when they aren't really striving to match the aesthetic of the original. Everything just seems to be designed to match the gameplay of the original, when a re-imagining would have been a better idea (keeping the plot and characters, but giving it a more modern turn-based JRPG feel along the lines of Dragon Quest), although I was never a fan.
the LA remake is really nice tho, shame it lags in certain spots. Only morons complained about the artstyle.
Plastic shine and DOF are what turned me off from the LA remake. It looked like babby's first unity project with asset flips.
Also it doesn't look anything like that promotional picture.
Because LA didn't require that they look like fricking bobbleheads. Grezo said they were "Being faithful", but even the artwork in game from the Gameboy Printer you can do didn't look anywhere close. Washed out, fricked up looking piece of shit. Mario RPG is faithful looking, taking sprites and changing them into models without making them look like ass, or thinking that they should do Claymation style.
Ganker is not one person and both look like shit.
Z:LA remake was cute and fun
