I don't understand how someone could not be having fun in this game. Even if you're a scrub, you can find ways to piss people off with spamming. Pick Blanka and spam hard ball and jungle man slide. Drive Impact doesn't beat it and Drive Rushing after the ball hits on block leaves Blanka with enough frames to retaliate. This leaves projectiles as the most easy thing to beat ball, but that's countered by the Tarzan boy slide if you're at the right range. No scrub is going to DP, perfect parry, or otherwise punish the ball, so it's for you to spam. When the opponent is waiting for the ball or jungle man slide, you command throw them. When you're ahead, just wait for the opponent to kill themselves by running their heads against your balls. EZ strategy to win. When you get tired of that, there's way more to the character to learn to get better with. Even without the scrub tactics, he feels like one of the better characters in the game. Enjoy Blanka and piss people off for me.
I'p a scrub and I naturally went this path without knowing anything beforhand.
I'm Bronze 1 but it's really fun deplete the blocking gauge of players who never fought Blanka. Once they are in Burnout you more or less already won. The combos are hard to pull off though.
Blanka is so much fun, and Blanka chan is a perfect punctual tool to frick around.

I can't play on stick anymore. 30 years of gaming finally gave my wrists arthritis, i can barely play for an hour on my stick before shit gets too much. I read the D Pad on this thing is utter dogshit, completely downgrade from past Fighting Commanders. Which is a real shame because I loved my Fighting Commander 3 before I lost it. I just use an M30.

Drive Rush b.HP or f.HK. When they're scared you can charge them. If you're up close you can try to get the charged version meaty. Scutum to Enfold is the first layer of oki and when they jump it you can just hold the stance for a bit instead since it will blow up any non-low strike. If they jump without you going for anything you can catch them with EX Dimachaerus on the way down and just get a combo from it.

It’s actually not bad. He only has one combo he can do. And spd is easier to avoid than you’d think. Gief’s biggest weakness is he sucks against Drive Impacts. Most of his moves can’t recover in time to respond, so unless he’s expecting you to do it, it’s like a free counter attack for most of his offense. Same with Dhalsim.

The elite series 2 is a d-pad workhorse, don't bother with the stick. It's probably the best d-pad available at the moment.
yeah i had the elite2 sittin around and the Razer one but found that one to be kinda dogdoo too so i just stuck with the elite 2 and ended up tightening the left stick and used that instead of the dpad.
its not terrible but as far as pads go i just dont like them without all the face buttons up front.
though the tension adjuster on the stick and triggers and replacing the nub with the convex one helped a lot

Is there a worse matchup right now than Lily vs Guile? Genuine question. I honestly think Gief has more ways to approach Guile than Lily does, especially if she lacks wind since Guile can just keep Booming and it will generally catch her out of 214LP before the stock registers. Even WITH wind her best options to get in require a hard read with Dive or an EX Spire on reaction in the mid-range, which doesn't even give her anything after except Level 2 or a DP if he was cornered (only if you have another stock of Wind).

Imo, you never want pads that are circular. It’s best to get a pad with either separate buttons, or an actual + pad. Repeated wear can make it so you’ll unintentionally trigger the diagonal part of the circle when you’re just trying to press the directional part.

Nope. Day one, I skipped the tutorials and went straight into battle hub. Place queue for both rank and casuals, and set my character to random. Just learn as I go. What’s the fear? That you might lose? Just have fun with it. Apprehensive over ranks? It’s just a number. Just go out there and do it.

I'm genuinely baffled that they blatantly made you get more points for a win than you lose for a loss, and have modifiers for wins but not for losses. I get not wanting to consolidate 2/3rds of your Playerbase below Super Silver like V, but being able to climb ranks with a flat 50% winrate (even if that takes forever) is very weird. Even if they wanted it to be lenient and not have loss modifiers, I'd at least have a win where you dropped a round go for 40 points, and then more than that if you just won two straight rounds or got a Perfect; so if the game was close you get 40 points but if you Double Perfect somebody you get 70 (before winstreak). I'd also probably cut off winstreak bonuses after Silver instead of Gold but I get that Bronze through Gold is the second "tier" after Rookie & Iron.

Bro with winstreaks you can climb to plat with a 35% winrate. No rank below, like, high plat means anything. That at least indicates that you have a solid 50% winrate and have been grinding your char for a while.

as far as shoryuken goes. I can't do that input so fast on reaction when I see the opponent jump. I tend to do down heavy punch or back heavy punch but the jumps just catch my off guard sometimes.
you need to use denjin more carefully, its bad to blow the charge on a hadoken when it buffs your full damage combo better
when you get a knock you gotta make a decision on if you want to charge or you want oki, usually just pick based on where the opponent is on stage
shingaki lets you make the most of every opening, also heavy punch is kinda weak compared to medium and heavy kick, its only benefit compared to heavy kick is is that it sends your opponent straight to the ground but medium kick crosses up
learn to anti-air
dont exhaust yourself so early just for weak drive rush combos
if you hit a drive impact medium punches into shingeki into ex high blade kick and finish with either super or shoryuken is significantly more damage than finishing with tatsu, up against the wall you do ex tatsu instead of the high blade and can end with medium high blade if you used shingeki if not you can just use heavy shoryu

I don't know what controller you are using or if you are planning to use modern controls or torture yourself with classic controllers on the the controllers that come with PS5 and XSX but charge characters like Guile and Chun-Li are always a safe bet. Because of their history, people will assume you are a beginner practicing and will become an invincible wall in a few weeks.
This might sound strange, but I found out that Hitbox lets me hold 6 and mash 44 for forward dash and it works for the reverse as well. I'm trying to apply it to my gameplay, and it feels like I've reversed my movement tools since I'm holding the opposite direction to dash.
I really like it though because I can dash into command grab even faster as Manon.

Try to analyze why they use specific moves that they use. What does it cover? What is the intended use? How do they extend that usage to something else? Things like that. For example, if you were to see someone constanty doing DP after a knockdown, you might think "Oh, that may be a way to get the opponent off me." At the same time, you might also see them use it for knocking someone out the air. "This move can also be used to swat away aerial movement." Gotta think practically first, and then creatively.
she takes a lot to get used to her confirms and stuff but her neutral isn't too bad
She's a charge character so you don't have a projectile if you're approaching but her reversal is a 22 motion so you can anti air without charge which is nice, and 5MK is great for just quickly slapping people out of jumps. 4/6MP and 2MK are great cancellable pokes so you can counter DI and blow people up for mashing it and just autopiloting into 236KK is simple for decent reward with the followup and safe if you don't do it, and will often beat DI anyway because of all the hits. She's got a great anti fireball move that can punish a lot of projectiles if they're too obvious and is safe on block, and her Drive Rush is only okay but she gets good combos off it and has a couple strong options to check people trying to respond to it, like DR>6HK to explode a throw tech or DR>3HK for a gimmicky but useful crossup that will sometimes dodge pokes. DR>3HP is an overhead that's pretty reactable because of the green shit but at least for now no one is blocking that the first time you do it.
I'm still figuring out whether her stance is useful for things other than combos but sometimes if you just sit in it in neutral people freeze up and let you regen drive bar, which is funny. I keep expecting it to work like Riptor's predator stance and it doesn't so I frick up and end up doing random moves on block and getting punished.

Each characters only has certain moves that can be canceled into drive impact. Chances are, you’re pressing the buttons in time, but your character just literally cannot drive impact at the moment. The rule of thumb is, if you can drive rush, you can drive impact. So be selective when poking.
I will literally sit still with my finger over the DI button and scream DRIVE IMPACT out loud while doing nothing else and I still can't react to it
Offensively or defensively? Like are they attacking you and then drive impacting you as you block? Or are you attacking them and they drive impact to counter you? There’s tips for the two different situation.

DR is insane on some characters. Its basically a free "skip neutral" button a lot of the time that gives you insane advantage on block while also has similar visual effects to DI, making the waters muddy. And it costs one fricking bar which might as well mean it costs nothing especially when you get to start your offense with it (meaning that bar is practically guaranteed coming back)
You're a bad player if you cant see how strong DR is in general. Its probably the single strongest system mechanic at any level of play higher than basic and warps all the other systems around it.

Marisa only has a few moves repeated in her combo strings. Manon can be pretty combo heavy but you can just do her grabs instead. Gief you almost don’t want to use his drive rush combos because the damage scaling is so bad.
Doing pretty well with Guile without learning any combos. I pretty much just follow any of my openers with 2MP into 28HK
manon and geif can go without combos and just do callouts

fightpads are shit and nobody has ever made one that stands up to regular use. keyboard, pad, stick, leverless (hitbox, etc) just pick one and stick with it. None will make you better at execution, it's mostly comfort.
I really wish I could get a fightpad cause I use my triggers for heavy buttons
Using triggers for that on a regular pad is a lot easier than doing a goofy half claw grip to use 6 face buttons on a pad.

I'm playing Ryu, too, so I might be able to help.
1. Chill with the donkey kick cancels. That shit is punishable on block most of the time, unless you hit it from absolute max distance.
2. Air-to-air with faster normals. Your j.LP is 4 frames and j.LK is 6 frames. You could also call an air exchange earlier and do j.MP which will allow for a juggle.
That's about it. Also, try to figure out a basic punish with a heavy starter. Last thing you want to do is block a DP only to return with a throw.

i like lily since her gameplay is relatively simple and command throws but also a bit too one-dimensional cause of that
deejay is stylish and i love the rhythm game super 2
blanka is cool and i like his movement but i'm not that good with charge characters and he seems more setplay focused than other characters, especially once you use super 2
deejay is one of the best characters in the game, he'll probably get nerfed so if you care about that kind of thing steer clear
lily is contender for worst character in the game, she'll probably get buffed so its a safe bet on a main if you care about that kind of thing
blanka is a weird character with low userbase so lots of players just wont know the matchup and never will since most people dont have a blanka main friend to grind against if thats your kind of thing
Deejay is the best out of the 3, no need for charges honestly. It does help that he's a fun character too but he might get nerfed if you care.

You're completely, right the DI mechanic is way too easy to pull off and ruins any neutral play simply because it's so likely to hit you it must be emptied completely in order to actually play the game without you or the opponent getting an easy combo. The party in third strike is no where near as easy to hand over neutral advantage and this Black person
is a moron that needs the game to hand him armor and stun mechanics in order to feel good at the game.
DI is actually a risk to attempt, unlike parry. these guys DIing you can't react to your decent pokes like s.MK, they got to fricking guess. you can just sit there and counter-DI them and fricking kill them for thinking about it. but you're not at that level yet
