The GOG and Steam version that's already out there uses GOG servers, do you really think they're going to make this re-release use GOG servers when it's also releasing on consoles?
I really want to believe that they're release server files that have been revised for this version, but I doubt it.

Honestly, just playing any of the Battlefront games (Even the EA ones) on Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation will show them there's demand. They look at all player counts. This is more of a quick console cashgrab than a concentrated effort to see what people want.
Can someone explain to me WHAT exactly makes buying this worth it when you have the original games? It's LITERALLY the same game, they didn't update anything, the maps they added were easily playable with mods. It looks like the level and vehicle textures are bit better/sharper, but the game is 50GB if you're not getting the switch version. For perspective: Battlefront II 2017 is 90GB on PC and looks miles better. This is unoptimized, low effort AI upscaled slop thrown together by poos/interns that, at the end of the day, really only brings the Xbox exclusive content to Sony and Nintendo (PC has had this modded in for almost as long as the game has been out). It can be argued that a modded PC version looks better AND has a far smaller filesize, and is far cheaper. Seriously, this is a hard pass if you have the PC version.

Hey now, they DID add a couple things. Such as some community mods that you can already download, along with upscaling the textures bloating the filesize up to 50gbs.
Since you clearly don't play these games online anymore, there are like 20 people playing BF2 online last time I checked, vanilla interface is broken at resolutions higher than 1080p and FPP aiming is atrocious and borderline unplayable.

This is such a blatant cash grab, it's unbelievable. You can get this shit for free, just grab one of the GOG releases from RuTracker. Or buy the original Steam versions that go for less than $5 each on discount. No way in hell 20 year old games should cost $35. These morons literally repackaged it with a bunch of AI upscaled textures and literally grabbed a mod from ModDB that adds XBOX DLCs and called it a day. There is literally the guy that made that mod called them out on not including the latest version that has actual animations from XBOX.
Gamers got traumatized by Capcom in the mid 2000s where they would scrap revivals to long dead IPs because mediocre Collection Ports didn't sell billions.

I booted up BF2 last week after announcement and found 2 modded populated servers, each with only one player.
The most populated server was 20 players out of 64.
People like convenience and so do you.
Ideally they would officially merge both games together.
