Akiyama's section makes a whole point about him being pissed off at Kiryu for not including him in his death plan and how seemingly everyone other character confirmed he was alive or got to see him before he got to while Date would lie to him at every turn, making him feel like Kiryu doesn't consider him as important to him as the other major characters. The only reason he even gets to see Kiryu is because he catches them off guard by hiring some goons to ambush him.

I think the Bucket List stuff is going to disappoint a lot of people. The SUBSTORY ones (as in characters from side modes and substories from previous games) have more honest closure than the main character ones

Shinada could only work as a one off character. They made Tanimura too relevant to randomly get rid of him, especially considering most of Yakuza 6's plot revolves around Little Asia, the place he's most associated with.

Honestly, from what I've seen of the plot of this game from people who got the game early, they actually do a pretty good job balancing the two. The plot reasons Hawaii is important on the Japan end outside of the setup with Ichiban's mom, also kind of works from the more spoiler-y details I've seen.

7. The writing in Ichiban's story is nonsensical and full of extreme convenience for the sake of drama. On top of that, they just decide to end the yakuza outright despite the Tojo being the driving force for the series. And if it couldn't get any worse, they also decided that all the important character deaths of the past never happened and just bring back whoever the frick they want from now on.
The damage 7 did to the franchise can not be understated.

I started LJ again after finishing Gaiden and it's leagues better. Fluid and reactive as hell. Nagoshi really was the only thing holding this series together.

That's another issue Lost Judgment beats Gaiden at. LJ is fricking packed with shit to do that takes time to do AND is entertaining AND rewarding. But with the way Ishin and Gaiden played out, I'd fear that a third Judgment game would even be passable.

Whatever the future holds, the devs that made it worth playing simply aren't part of the team any more, and the fans that actually made it just popular enough to survive through Y5 aren't the target audience, with Y7 being the literal sign on the door saying "lowest common denominator only".
I won't deny that Nagoshi came with his own problems that needed wrangling, but with what Yokoyama has given us since he took the reins, I don't know if a tard-wrangler would stop him. Nagoshi likely took the competent devs with him too, if the gameplay is anything to go by. By and large, the series is not what it used to be anymore, and certainly isn't for the same people. What's worse, there isn't anything else like Yakuza on the market. It's wild to me that the popularity hasn't resulted in "Yakuza-likes- the same way souls-likes are still churned out.

Here's a terrible fact, the vast majority of the new audience (who started with 7 and maybe some with 0's PC release) plays the games dubbed.
All my friends who got into this series refuse to play the undubbed games and every western streamer I've seen plays it dubbed.

They can't even get the depth of field effect right anymore. It looks so awful in Gaiden and 8's demo I had to shut it off.
Big maps are more important than good graphics and it still needs to run on a base PS4, something 6 really couldn't do unless you consider 12-20fps running.

I think Ichiban sounded nice, personally I played the english dub for 7 because they seemed to put alot of work into it and was at least novel, plus most of the cast is brand new to me so it wouldn't sound out of place. But yeaaaaah kiryu's voice is so bad I'll go with the subs now.

This is unironically the first franchise I ever got somewhat of an attachment for and interacted with the community of, not even with TF2 did I get to the point where I cared enough about it and now I honestly just feel fricked over. Literally nothing that's been coming out of this series is something I'm enjoying. New gameplay isn't fun and doesn't appeal to me. Story is fricking moronic and goes nowhere. I don't care about any of the newly introduced characters. I just can't see this going anywhere anymore and I feel like shit for actually ending up getting somewhat attached to the franchise, or just characters specifically only for things to end up like they are now. Why does yakuza 6 look a million times better than everything that came after?
Because they tried really hard to make it next gen. Unfortunately, the PS4 wasn't up to the task, so they had to tone it down for all the future games.
The only other one that looks as good is the PS5 exclusive remaster of Judgment because it's not held back by the PS4.
It was their first dragon engine game and actually tried to use to the best. The only problem was the PS4 wasn't built for it and couldn't handle it
6 has moody lighting for most of it and at least a few of the staff working on it thought it was Kiryus last game.
The best thing 6 did was not have that awful hair dithering that all the future Yakuza games have and almost every modern game seems to have. I get that it's intensive to run, but come on, at least the PS5 and PC releases should still have it.

I think it's funny how instead of expanding the beat em up system which already had a lot of RPG stats in it (anger, fear, blunt, slash, fire, electricity etc.) with equipable gear that affected the gameplay like enemy aggression or how much super armor you have to basically a completely downgraded version of the same idea but now turn based... We could have fricking had Wrestler style in real time combat with Kasuga and insane enemy variety but no, RGG cannot put more than 2 weeks into designing the combat system and enemy encounter so we always get the most lazy shit out there.

Dying in the open world is not an instant game over, you just lose money That's why the atm lets you store money despite most people never using it. Dying in a story fight has that menu open and ask for a portion of the money you currently have. It's millions cause he has 30 million.

They will continue selling those games with profit because they always target new userbase. Hence why each game has flavor of the year popular celebrity in it etc. It's just all done to reel in new customers and they know that old fans already invested so much time that they will still buy a shitty game just to see how the story ends up for some characters.
