The swords are ranged so pages with a single large die like Oscars 3 cost or the big 3 cost page from musicians of Bremen will do the job, for general dps just use wedge pages since the swords are weak to pierce, Yuujin with tailoring is great as well
Theres nothing wrong with waiting until you get stronger combat cards.
But since they're ranged you'll want a string single die to clash with all of them, singular strike passive from valentin or hatted Kim works wonders.

After urban nightmare is star of the city and finally impuritas civitatis. Both of which are significantly longer (and obviously harder) chapters than anywhere else in the game. You could use your progress with floor expansions as a sort of barometer for progress, you're only now on abno 2 of the first of the middle layer. Id say you're about halfway into the game, but the difficulty and time investment of the endgame will make it seem a lot further off.
Also make sure to do the general receptions, some of them have some great cards and keypages.
