Why are Paladins a low intelligence class in this setting?
Paladins are supposed to be the /fitlit/ class not axe-swinging morons like warriors.
Why are Paladins a low intelligence class in this setting?
Paladins are supposed to be the /fitlit/ class not axe-swinging morons like warriors.
Why are you playing a game from an antiwhite dev in the first place? Shame on you!
How is Larian anti white?
They got mad at people who made white male characters
>mad
If you think making jokes about how uncreative normies are is being mad you have severe mental issues
Then why was their trailer character a black lesbian? Isn't that also uncreative?
Yes it was also boring goyslop. How does that translate into the devs being enraged by how people made their tavs? You supposition is moronic
There's quotes from devs, moron. See:
Because clearly this means that they are ok with black characters but not ok with white characters
Literally has nothing to do with being angry or not. You are trying to change the subject lol. Pro tip if you find yourself having to get evasive your point is a bad one
>joke
Ah yes, the classic leftist defense of calling their moronation "satire"
Lmao, no. They posted about peoppe making white male characters several times and when the game was in kickstarter they were like "WHAT THE FRICK WHY SO MANY WHITE MALES ARE INTERESTED IN OUR GAME WHERE ARE ALL THE WOMEN?!?!?!?!"
These homies genuinely lose sleep over the fact that white men play their game
you qanon rightoids need to stop whining and go leave and let us play our video games.
AHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHH HELP MEEEEE HELP HELP HELP ME RIGHT NOOOOOOWWWWW THE /misc/ BOOGIEMEN ARE AFTER MEEEEEE AHHHHHAHA AAAAAAAH AAAAAH HELP ME RIGHT NOOOOWWWWWW
>“We are sorely disappointed,”
Yeah, that totally sounds like a joke to me, you moron.
Disappointment is a different emotion than anger, you know that right? Or are you too mentally stunted to realize the difference
Sarcastic leftist whining =/= joke
>“We are sorely disappointed,”
HAHAHAHA
OH MY GOD ITS SO FUNNY
SOMEONE SAVE IT AND PUT IT ON AN IMAGE MACRO LMAO
In all honesty, Larian being mad enough to comment on their customers preferring the wrong color IS quite funny.
Idk, the next line of them saying 'come on guys we put in so much work' kind of sounds like it's a joke. Since there is a bunch of different species and subspecies, having everyone specifically play white humans is kind of funny to point out.
>'come on guys we put in so much work'
It certainly is a joke, but maybe not in the way you say? The character creator, I mean.
>Since there is a bunch of different species and subspecies, having everyone specifically play white humans is kind of funny to point out.
I believe that if they made those races anything more than human-with-paint, players may have played those more. As it is, players are willing to choose a mechanically weak race because the rest are just plain terrible thematically. Nobody wants to play the ugly ass halflings or dwarves and nobody wants to self insert as a michael jackson with a worse nose.
AND ALL OF THE VOICES SOUND THE FRICKING SAME WHERE IS THE EFFORT LARIAN
I agree the character creator is not amazing, but tbh I'm enjoying the rest of the game and find it impressive so I'm not too fussed. I think it's more of a crime that you can't change your appearance at all for the rest of the game, like that is just lazy tbh.
how exactly was Larian's generic black woman with an afro that they used for the official gameplay showcases any less generic thant he white male though? There are far more black women in this world than white men by the way, so their character is objectively even more generic by real life standards.
It isn’t. What does that have to do with anons claim that larian were mad about how people rolled tav? Don’t change the subject
Why are you so mad at people selecting the superior option as their main character?
Pretty sure they got mad that it was human fighters, not the skin color of the humans themselves no?
On this, it's been a running joke in D&D since forever how common elves and humans are in comparison with other races.
Nah. https://boundingintocomics.com/2020/10/16/baldurs-gate-3-devs-sorely-disappointed-that-most-popular-character-creation-option-is-a-white-human-male/
Fair enough, I don't know if I'd go so far as to say this makes the devs fully anti white, but rather this is to be expected from the voices at all major game companies. I bought the game in EA years ago, and hadn't touched it since, playing it now though I like it and haven't found anything 'progressive' so far. Hopefully there are mods that turn wyll white in the future though.
>Boundingintocomics
Bounding Into Comics are just basically the Alt-Right version of ComicBook.com
Added to the list of anons that very clearly haven't the slightest idea what the "alt-right" is
>Muh Kotaku article.
They where upset people where making uninteresting boring characters and not using the system, as in they just pressed start and didnt care.
Kotaku made it about "boring white males."
For a anti white company I SURE DO HAVE A LOT OF WHITE PARTY MEMBERS! Only one frickin black one at all.
no lol that's why the default character now is a black guy
>They where upset people where making uninteresting boring characters and not using the system
all the while giving no apparent customization at all during the character creation screen.
>all the while giving no apparent customization at all during the character creation screen.
I keep seeing this meme. I think it really is a skill issue, even if you choose one of the preset faces, the hair and makeup options (even for male characters; not all makeup is visible) can create a huge variety of face shapes. That and the facial hair.
>makeup options can create a huge variety of face shapes
I was hoping for layering makeup, like a foundation or facemask to hide blemishes to make the character look prettier, but it feels satisfying when you pull off panda eyes and any sort of tired looks.
True, I enjoy that the color and intensity can be fine-tuned separately, it's a small detail but I've been finding a lot of variety with it. And having the makeup be preset-based might turn a lot of people off but everything I would have done manually is covered by the presets.
>even if you choose one of the preset faces
You can't do anything other than choose one of the preset faces....
You can match dozens upon dozens of hairstyles and makeup options anon, isn't that enough for you?
There are many hairstyles and I'm grateful for that, but nearly all of them are ugly in my eyes, I wouldn't think of using the majority of them on my characters.
Default custom characters are random. You'd know this if you actually played the game.
calm down pajeet, your script is outdated. The character customization is good, and the default character for non-gays is a white dragonborn.
Is it because they can't read that far-right people are so easily brainwashed ?
You would be a bit disappointed too if you made a character creation tool with a lot of options, especially for non-human characters and 95% of people used it to make the most generic human white male with dark short hair.
It has nothing to do with being anti-white but that's exactly with misunderstandings like that that you end up a total /misc/ schizo.
>make a character creation tool to make all the npcs in the game
>wtf why doesn't the actual player want to be some made up orc thing as his self insert
They're stupid to expect that in the first place, but benignly stupid
To make a blog post shaming people is anti-white and you are anti-white for defending them, thanks
Always gives me a good chuckle seeing the far left unironically call someone else brain washed. A literal pot calling the kettle black moment.
I was there when this happened, they were just picking fun of their early access testers in their dev updates. Larian does this all the time.
When they overhauled the character creator a couple years ago they did a data poll to see what the most popular options were. In one of the dev diaries, they averaged all the most common decisions together, and picrel was the result. The joke is that you can pick anything and "generic human male fighter hero" is still the most popular.
The game is anti white, far leftist, pro lgbtqia+, woke garbage
Nope
you will never have a womb
I don’t have a womb myself but my ponderous swinging balls means I can take a womb whenever I please. You will never know the feeling of having women desperate to breed throwing themselves on you lol
I don't see how it is any of those things. Legitimately I understand not buying a game but all of the gay shit is player choice involved, there are no gay characters or troony characters or anything. But I guess the same argument can be made that being able to murder innocents in the game isn't good either, but I assume you don't have a problem with that? Also how is it anti white?
and its a good thing
Paladins are religious which makes them pretty dumb.
In DnD not believing in anything earns being food for Asmodeus. The most agonizing fate in all of the multiverse.
I thought not worshipping a God caused your soul to melt into some kind of atheist wall made of other souls.
That's for people that believe gods are real and still don't worship them. But there are people that think gods are just beings with superior powers that larp as ones. Those people go to Asmodeus.
>But there are people that think gods are just beings with superior powers that larp as ones.
but isn't that literally the case for a lot of the gods in D&D? I mean, the whole plot of BG1 and 2 is basically a mortal becoming a god and Baal and Cyric, the previous gods of murder were also mortals.
>But there are people that think gods are just beings with superior powers
How would that not fit the definition of a pagan god? It's like saying chairs aren't real, there are just objects made to be sat on that we pretend are chairs
Funny you say that because one of Asmodeuses biggest ongoing operation is creating false religions that will turn people into bitter atheists.
Depends on the setting. Forgotten Realms post-4E had that shit.
In Greyhawk nothing happens because Gygax thought it was imbecilic to grandstand over atheism in a setting were Gods are granting miracles and straight-up walking the earth and if you want to run a total imbecile that's on you.
He was too good for us.
>since 3rd edition
Weird, I don't remember anything like it. Anything about it in the BOVD?
Sorry it was ADnD. Original from the Guide to Hell. It reveals his origin as the giant serpent hiding in Nessus and that the souls of nonbelievers are what heal his broken body.
Sounds crazy, thanks, I'll look for a copy.
>2E Planescape shit
>ADnD
Maybe by technicality.
He has the same background lore in 5E too.
Yeah and 5E sucks balls just the same.
Mechanically, but the lore is a carried over from older edition and if you liked it before you can't say it sucks now.
>Mechanically, but the lore is a carried over from older edition and if you liked it before you can't say it sucks now.
Watch me: the spellplague was garbage and so was everything that flowed from it.
One of the many reasons why the cosmology is comically unjust
>Watch me: the spellplague was garbage and so was everything that flowed from it.
That's all the universally hated 4th edition that has nothing to do with Asmodeus and ADnD.
*tips*
No, paladins are moron muscle heads just
Like fighters but they have the added mental illness of being obsessed with blind obedience to their sky wizard
>Fedora wearer in DnD setting
You are extra moronic anon
The "gods" are piece of shit petty buttholes who do not deserve my worship.
Found the ur priest
Have fun in the Wall
Takes active action to get walled, passive distain will still end up getting you claimed.
Not necessarily.
Imagine actually defending the dnd pantheon
To be fair, there is actually proof THEIR god exists, miracles and such galore. Atheism in Faerun is very dumb when the gods are constantly starting shit with each other.
Ur priests are fun though, they reject and hate gods in setting, and are generally resistant to divine magics
Yes and the fact that the gods in dnd are very real is quite unfortunate since they are all selflish, petulant pieces of shit. Anyone who actually bothers to worship them is actually stupider than someone who believes in an absent god
Yes anon all the Greeks were very dumb
The Greeks worshiped their gods out of fear and greed lest Zeus would come down and rape their daughters.
No. They did not actually do that Redditstiorian
Anytime a Greek daughter showed up mysteriously pregnant, the family would celebrate getting Zeus spawn. Greeks, not even once.
Redditors get the rope
No they aren't all selfish or pieces of shit. Most are but they definitely aren't all selfish.
>I don’t have a womb myself but my ponderous swinging balls means I can take a womb whenever I please. You will never know the feeling of having women desperate to breed throwing themselves on you lol
Who are you quoting?
His dad
Look at the self portrait he posted lol, about to cry
>/fitlit/ class
>moron who thinks he's smart
>Paladins a low intelligence class

>big body type

>built like an ogre with a face of human shrek

FIX THE SHORTSTACKS LARIAN
Can you make beautiful busty dwarf ladies at least?
>busty
lmao, good luck with that. I sure hope you'll enjoy 7 different types of penises tho.
I have seen you post this in at least 4 other threads, please email Larian studios EVERY day instead.
Or get someone to mod it
Can someone explain to me how concentration spells work? It's not outright explained.
I cast Entangling Roots and it's supposedly a 10-turn spell, but it always seems to end early?
if somebody smacks you in the face it breaks your concentration so the spell ends early
Where do they say they are angry? You are illiterate
I guess that makes sense.
How do I stop getting smacked in the face?
You don't because the enemy hyperfocuses you and throws a chair at your head or something as soon as possible
Every single time
pump your ac up so you dodge everything/are less desirable to target
was playing wizard with like 10 ac and would get target lazerfocused to death within one turn, used magic armour for +3 and those blue bracers +2 plus something else to get 16 ac now you just dodge everything
its a dogshit system lmao
>its a dogshit system lmao
It was rough in bg1/2 as well, but in a turn based game like this, combat is literal torture.
BG1/2 combat is lightning quick. Entering combat is longer than a fight in BG1/2.
>BG1/2 combat is lightning quick.
It can be. If you don't minmax your stats you'll be swinging once or twice, missing, and then standing around waiting for the six second round to end so you can do it all again... That's what I was referring to, it was a pretty common complaint among normies who tried the game.
Don't worry about it, it's just something I post when shills want to make three or four of the same thread at once.
The writing is getting worse, isn't it?
>The writing is getting worse, isn't it?
You mean the Asmodeus thing? That's a thing since 3rd edition and a core reason for the blood war.
Can only have one concentrated spell running at a time and if you take any damage from any source you have to make a constitution save iirc to keep the spell running
>cast spell
>game tells you over and over this is your primary stat, put points here above others
>game then tries to make you make a saving roll on a secondary stat that it didn't tell you that you needed in order for your spell to continue working
kinda moronic if it doesn't use your primary stat for the concentration check honestly.
frankly, concentration as a whole is stupid. who the frick is gonna waste concentration on bless when 50% of all spells need it?
it renders support units fricking shitty compared to previous games cause they can literally only give you one real buff at a time, or one real cc at a time, your concentration is getting broken almost constantly no matter what even if you have like 14-16 con which is the most you can reasonably have. advantage on the roll from the feat isn't any that good either when you failing to make the roll most of the time in the first place its not like its even 50/50
nothing prevents you from making a smart paladin.
Because religion is... LE BAD, EVIL AND IGNORANT!
What? You're the one who shilled and bought a game made by Black person-loving leftists.
why would any religious person project their real life religion onto this fantasy game though? I mean, wouldn't a paladin or cleric who worships a false fantasy deity be more blasphemous to your christian beliefs than a non-religious character who doesn't believe in any of the fantasy deities?
Why would anyone project their critical views on religion onto a fantasy game to the point of basing game mechanics around it?
I dunno. Why would anyone put time, effort and money into animating gay bear sex?
Because it got people talking about the game and resulted in an enormous amount of publicity
they didn't though. Paladins in D&D have never had any use of intelligence gameplay wise. This is entirely you just making shit up to get mad about.
But I am not. You however have demonstrably made unfounded assumptions which marks you as stupid
I am in the process of getting my bros together for a playthrough.
I need to know if there's any dangers of accidently sexing player characters?
Nah there isn't, you can also turn off romance scenes all together.
>I need to know if there's any dangers of accidently sexing player characters?
No it's very obvious but it does pretty much force you to pick very butthole options if you don't want to suck their wieners later on in the camping dialogues.
There really are no bro characters as a result.
Yeah, warriors of the church. Not scholars of the church. Their jobs is to say what they're told and beat people over the head if they disagree.
I am convinced that the only way you can enjoy this game is if you play a 20 charisma 20 intellect wizard
If you don't win dialogue rolls you have to fight fricking constantly
If you aren't a wizard you have basically nothing other than "hit with sword" or "hit with arrow"
Shit game, but now I know there's only one class worth playing if I ever play dnd irl
If you can't beat the enemies that's a you problem entirely.
Wrong.
Problem is not that the combat is hard, problem is it takes 700 years
>If you don't win dialogue rolls you have to fight fricking constantly
Well, kind of. There are lots of fights to enjoy and get loot and xp from. You also have the option of settling things through talking. Do you want to just walk around without any fun fights?
>If you aren't a wizard you have basically nothing other than "hit with sword" or "hit with arrow"
Putting aside that warriors have some move variety, and mages will often boil down to "hit with basic magic attack melee if enemies are close and basic magic attack ranged it enemies are far", every class has some more options. There are items like special arrows and magic grenades, even the most martial focused classes can be built to use some magic or more complicated moves. You also don't need intelligence on a character at all to use magic. There is magic based on charisma, magic based on wisdom, as well as magic based on intelligence (plus there's technically magic that needs no stat).
I rolled ranger and I'm starting to regret it bros..
What's wrong with it? Doing a beastmaster ranger and my two birds are just blinding dudes for easy advantage pickoffs while the buffs being rituals means I can keep my spell slots for hunter's mark instead and because of how the game works I can still off-hand slice something if they're close enough after I shoot. Not particularly the most exciting stuff but consistent and almost a short-rest class aside from spell slots
is archer subclass no longer super busted in 5e?
Whenever all the streamers get together to praise something tremendously, that's a sure as shit sign to stay the frick away from it. I've even seen streamers say something stupid like "I bought this game, but I won't be playing it."
Chud status: seething
I mean, you have to be at least a bit of a chud to enjoy cRPGs, let alone develop them.
Not anymore now that problematic concepts like racial attributes and cosmic morality are being or have been removed.
I thought I was insane because I started playing it yesterday when Ganker was down so all I saw were a hundred thousand positive steam reviews
I fricking hated it, and we just had a 600 reply thread of people hating it for the exact reasons I did
Ganker right again
homosexual casuals and ecelebs btfo
What was the last CRPG you played and enjoyed?
None. What was the last crpg the other 100,000 homosexuals who left positive reviews on steam played? Oh yeah, also none
You are a normalgay, albeit a self-aware one.
Man this game feels like such a chore. Every single thing is a dice roll for some obscure bullshit and I am somehow just passing through 100% of it despite not even trying. Why do boomers enjoy this?
Like the first 20 replies are all wrong. Paladins in 5e are bound by an oath and not too any particular god. And yes, this does open the can that technically anybody can make a really strong oath and suddenly become a paladin but whatever that's how they wrote it.
They don't serve any church, especially vengeance bros.
Yeah, it's usually the oath itself that generates the magic. Though it can be a god, or a king, or something else, the oath and your devotion is what generates the divine magic.
>but whatever that's how they wrote it
I dunno if anyone is accusing wotc of having better writers than they used to
The character creator is a big problem, but bigger than that are the actual characters. When you see the nautiloid cutscenes you see a bunch of random characters close up and have no fricking clue who any of them are or even what race they belong to.
There are tons and tons of different monsters and races in D&D but an experienced player should be able to identify basic things like whether a character is an elf or troll or an orc, otherwise there is a problem in the design.
How do I make shadowheart good?
I'm desperate
Paladins are fighters with charisma
Cut the rope holding the boulder to destroy the ceiling of the chapel making a path.
>That was cool as frick
Enter that way
You have no option to prepare or anything the 4 morons just jump down and obviously get ambushed
>Not that cool, was expecting to have the choice to use a rope or stuff like that to get there on a better shape
The 5 enemies ambushing are standing LITERALLY on the top of 2 explosive barrels
Fire cantrip there kills 3 of them and the other 2 survive with like 5 hp.
>Sucks
I thought people were memeing about barrelmancy but what could have been the first interesting combat was solved with a shitty cantrip.
pretty much due to MAD (multiple attribute dependency). paladins already have way too many attributes to depend on. gotta have standard fighter stats of strength with a bit of dex and con. gotta have wisdom or you have no spells, not that paladin spells are that great to begin with. gotta have charisma or your paladin-specific powers suck ass. theres just no room for any int.
frankly i think paladin specific powers should work based on wisdom and not charisma
>gotta have standard fighter stats of strength with a bit of dex and con.
You can dump strength or dexterity. Wearing heavy armor means your dex doesn't influence your AC, and everything it gives is really not that important to a paladin. Or you can go with a finesse weapon and lighter armor and dump strength.
>being a finesse paladin
feels dirty somehow
but you need at least 13 dex for feats and +1 to AC even with heaviest armor. plate stuff tends to allow +1 from dex
We're talking about 5e, anon. Heavy armor just completely removes dex modifiers from your AC, and there's only two feats that require dex and one is only useful for dex characters anyway and the other is just flat out useless to a Paladin.
5e sucks donkey wiener god i hate it
>wisdom and not charisma
I want to say in 3.5 they did work this way but turn undead has always been charisma based so they made them the same stat. TBF I don't know if Paladins get turn undead anymore.
>Paladins are supposed to be the /fitlit/
moron, D&D Pallies have historically functioned off Charisma, they're divine caster hybrids, INT is the least of their worries
then D&D is stupid
Yes?
We knew since 50 or so years.
Is it just me or does Gale sound like pic related
guys i need help...i cant get past the part where you kiss the mind flayer
Don't kiss the Mindflayer. Nice trips.
but my gay virgin character is so desperate and horny he would never turn down a kiss
Stick with the roleplay bro, don't metagame, you need to kiss the mindflayer if it's what your character would do.
>wizard party member had literally fifty cool spells to pick from
>every other class in the game has
>hit with sword
>uhhhhh
>concussive hit with sword
SHIT
GAME
Wait till you find out that you can interact with the environment and throw things in your inventory.
It is kinda weird that my paladin is pretty much forced to have both low intelligence and wisdom, it wasn't my idea of how paladins were seen in this kind of setting.
What makes me confused however is the oaths, I was under the impression that I'd have a strict oath to a temple or a god or something but I don't even know what picking my oath of vengeance even really means. I don't even have a context for what is considered evil and what is not.
>my paladin is pretty much forced to have both low intelligence and wisdom
Eh, they're not useful stats for you beyond skill checks but you don't need to minmax so much that you go below 10. And 10 is just "adequate". I made my Paladin proficient with History for flavor and he never comes across as stupid.
>What makes me confused however is the oaths, I was under the impression that I'd have a strict oath to a temple or a god or something but I don't even know what picking my oath of vengeance even really means.
In 5E Paladins just swear oaths to a greater power that could only be described as "all of existence". Rather than dedicate yourself to a god you dedicate yourself to a cause. Vengeance oath means you want to kill every evil piece of shit in the world. It's the not nice Paladin.
>I don't even have a context for what is considered evil and what is not.
I guess you're gonna have to actually think for yourself without little tags to guide you then.
Int is a dump stat for ALL classes except bards, mages and all those different magic based sub classes. Clerics, druids, rangers, rogues, monks... those are all classes that are typically not seen as dumb brutes, yet none need int and that's just how it has always been. This isn't a Larian invention to dunk on paladins.
Can Astarion turn the Player's Character into a Vampire? I wanna be a Vampire too but have a man give me the succ feels gay.
No. You only need to let him suck your blood once for him to get his combat ability. Any other times you get nothing and if you fail the diceroll your character dies.
Can I let him succ without the rest of the party knowing. Like can't we do it when no one else is around? I don't wanna look gay in front of the other guys and Laezel.
I dunno I told the the gay to frick off. gale is gay too but at least he brings magic missiles.
>wyll in party
>kill Karlach for his origin quest
>deliver her head to paladins for the cool sword
>forced to long rest before entering mountain pass
>demon succubus shows up
>"WHY DIDNT YOU KILL KARLACH"
???
is this bugged, some sort of sequencing issue? or is this always supposed to happen
>perception check fail
>trap triggers
>entering turn based mode
>entire party explodes and dies
>game over
so you're pretty much forced to savescum in this game? this is just trial and error bullshit
Play in the easiest difficulty if you just want to steamroll you stupid Black person.
so what should I have done differently when a dice roll fails and my whole party dies?
Maybe noticed that you should know something is coming when the nice icon pops up and sayings PERCEPTION CHECK FAILED?
Buffs
don't get yourself in that diceroll situation in the first place. there's lots of ways to approach combat.
Paladins have always been low INT since they are multi-ability dependant, STR, CON, CHA, and it used to be worse, you used to need DEX and WIS as well in 2E. So INT was always the dump stat for Paladins.
I don’t frick with paladins unless the have magic auras
Int exists to be a dumpstat for 9 out of 10 classes.
Imagine not dropping that useless shit to put more points into physical frame. Str, Dex, Con, all useful no matter who you are. Int? Only good for nerds and prancing bards.
The /fitlit/ class in 5e is Artificer, which isn't in yet.
>can play as orc but not goblin
Ruined my immersion 0/10 game
i never play this type of game before will i love this
Probably not, this is my first true type of dnd game and I think it's an absolute slog and it carries larians combat area thoughts as well which are always questionable.
I've been playing a mentally moronic wizard, been fricking so fun
Can we keep Sazza as a pet yet, or does she still pointlessly die off screen after owing two life debts to the player?
>Dying to get out of a debt.
Typical goblins.
Is it me or Dark Urge is suffering from Fane syndrome?
Like, they decided to add new origin into the cast, barely months away from the release and it's painfully obvious how little development time they had and how ill-fitting the writting is. It's like a DLC character that they rushed to include into the release version and it fricking shows.
It's basically a player character+ not a whole new origin.
except devs literally advertised it as (NOT) pc+ on every step
Yeah, but I never believe anything developers claim about their games. Spoer thought me that.
Player character + you murder everything and everyone
Fane has a ton of stuff though. If Durge was rushed they wouldn't have goblin man do stuff. Plus he has unique scenes that rushing him in would require voice work, animation etc all to come back in and do it
Is Hexblade Warlock in this game? Or, if not, did they implement the Cha-scaling weapon attacks elsewhere?
no and no, larian hates fun
no and yes, pact of the blade.
Cool. Can you stack Oath of Devotion Paladin's Sacred Weapon with that?
>Cha-scaling weapon attacks elsewhere
This, pact of the blade now gives that feature, which you can pick at warlock lv3
No there is no Hexblade but at level 3 a warlock gains the ability top chose The Pact of Blades which when active(until a long rest) makes you proficient in a chosen weapon type(you can chose a new one after every rest) and changes charisma scaling for said active weapon type on top of summoning a weapon of your choosing(or just simply enchanting the one you hold).
Pact of the blade level 3
They did axe the medium armor proficiency they get, so you'll have to grab medium armor at level 4 feat with a gravy +1 dex, if you stat out 10 STR 13 DEX 10 CON 16 INT 10 WIS 16 you can have a setup for a solid hexblade, when you grab that feat it'll bump that dex to +2. Stats to taste, but I dislike roll penalties so I 10'd everything. My warlock has as much HP as the githyanki fighter, lmao
I'm at the adamantine forge, and I was wondering what should I make. I already made the heavy armor, and I was debating making the shield too, since I'm a paladin and I can use compelled duel to force the enemy into a lose lose situation where they get debuffed if they hit me, or debuffed if they miss me; though maybe that's moronic.
You want an eldritch knight
I threw my sussur dagger at an enemy on a bridge and it fell into lava
Is it over?
No you moron, here's your (You).
Paladins are known as lawful stupid for a reason. They are incredibly predictable if you know the code of the Deity they worship thus they are incredibly easy to deceive. This is, usually, countered by their ability to detect evil, but alignments can be hidden. Most paladins will ultimately trust anybody who isn't blatantly evil. However, because laws and standards are myopic today and God forbid you are told what to do, everybody thinks paladins are CG "do whatever is good and helpful" superheroes.
No.
>isn't blatantly evil
there is a reason why they got "detect evil" anyway
Like I mentioned above, yes. There are ways to hide alignment though. Plus an evil person can trick an average person to ask the Paladin to do things too without knowing, say, there's an ambush ahead or something like that.
Has anyone played with a controller? Any cons in using one? I like how it plays like a third person game with one instead of clicking everywhere with my mouse
I find it way too clunky when it comes to positioning the camera just right and later on you have so many actions that its a chore to use a controller wheel instead of just pressing the key directly on keyboard.
Yeah, probably will use it until it gets too complicated
Wish there was a wasd mouvement
>Play fighter with Int
>Take Eldritch Knight at 3rd level
Why isn't charisma the main stat of paladins anymore?
It is.
It doesn't have the star next to it?
Oh no! She wasn't our dream waifu after all?
Devs seethed about it because Paladins = White Nationalist Nazis to them.
You will never convince me DnD is a good system
I'm turning it down to easy and going to do my best to try and pretend the combat does not exist
This is literally the build of one of my main characters in my game run.
Lil Sis - Human Monk (Way of the Shadow)
STR 10, DEX 16, CON 12, INT 10, WIS 16, CHA 10
Favorite position: cowgirl rodeo style into reverse mating press
Big Bro - Half-orc Paladin (Oath of Devotion) / Wizard
STR 10, DEX 14, CON 10, INT 16, WIS 10, CHA 14
Favorite position: reverse mating press into helicopter
For some reason, I couldn't post images on Ganker, so here's Big Bro and Lil Sis doing some wrastling practice fine tuning their grapple techniques before a long rest.
Big Bro is a big magic geek despite devoting his life to the Order of the Fist of the Brown Star, well atleast keeping the Order's archives and library organized and tidy, this will be his first field assignment, or was, dang nabbit.
>Paladins are supposed to be the /fitlit/ class
Ah so you know shit about D&D I see
How many of you guys are running 3000 or 4000 series Nvidia GPUs? any crashing with the game so far? seems like everyone on steam has issues those 2 gpus but older ones or amd like Steam Deck are fine
Using a 3060 and had literally no issues in around 40~ hours.
The game is too hard for me...the bosses on act 2 filters me.
there's always easy mode you can toggle. no shame its a singleplayer game not a competition.
Yeah I have to do that on my first playthrough...
you can use easy mode to learn how the fight works and then redo it on normal. usually with each boss theres a gimmick or mechanics structure.
Could some anons help me out
oath of the ancients paladins are more of a tanky support, eldritch knights are offensive spell swords, tempest sorcerers are endgame aoe disasters
>oath of the ancients paladins are more of a tanky support,
That sounds extremely gay but I should found out Xenk is actually a Paladin of Devotion, how do those play?
>eldritch knights are offensive spell swords
Sounds up my alley but how strong are the spells they use?
>tempest sorcerers are endgame aoe disasters
Definitely going to save this for the Dark Urge playthrough then, how do Draconic Sorcerers play though? What's their gimmick?
>how do those play?
Not that anon but Devotion Pallies are mostly the same as the Ancient ones. Paladin can dish out damage though, it's just going to be less than a Barbarian, albeit with bigger damage spikes (in the form of divine smite)
Oath of Ancients Paladins are somewhat underwhelming until you get to lv7 where the get aura of warding and become busted good by straight up halving all spell damage they and anyone else in their aura receive. Realistically, this basically means you have resistance to spell damage at all times you're conscious. This also stacks with saves too. So if you get fireballed and save, you take 1/4th damage, not 1/2 damage
>Oath of Ancients Paladins are somewhat underwhelming
It's a Larian game so Speak with Beasts is really useful. Also they get misty step too, which is great on a melee character.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CLASS TO PICK
I ALREDY RESTARTED THE GAME 3 TIMES
Skill issue & works on my machine
Pick warlock. It's low maintenance and if you chose pat of blade at level 3 you will be both good in magic and melee. Enjoy.
easy just multiclass into every class
first decide your parties classes then fill in for the flexible slot.
How big is a party and what classes are available?
Max party size is 4. The main companions are a cleric, a wizard, a rogue, a fighter, a barbarian, and a warlock. Though they can all be respecced
Cleric, Wizard, Fighter and Ranger(?)
4 per party but there's a mod to change it to 8 if you don't care about balance. there's 14 classes that branch into even more subclasses.
In 2, it was because every class was interesting.
In 3, it's because every class is boring.
Are the powerhouses of old like Kensai/mage, fighter/ranger/cleric, barbarian/mage etc no longer as strong and fun as they used to in 5e?
Can I play as a Racist dwarf who hates elfs really fricking hard?
no
you can however play as a racist drow who hates surface elves really fricking hard
>Cant play as a Dwarf who hates elfs
Are fricking kidding me?
I don't think Forgotten Realms dwarves really have any beef with elves
that's more of a Middle Earth and Warhammer thing
>double standards
Frick leftists and their elf agenda
sure why not just kill every elf you meet. don't even have to be upfront about it be discreet. shoot the bridge when nobody is looking and it was just an elven construction "accident"
Is Cleric is MUST for any party?
Which other class can heal?
Optimal party is any type of caster, cleric, rouge, and beatstick.
>Beatstick
So another caster or EK-equivalent.
they're not a MUST but they make fights much smoother. think of the MMO holy trinity. tank+healer+dps is pretty solid combination, for 4th slot you can pick whatever that situation needs like ranged to cover melee or support to cover team.
Cleric is the ONLY class that can heal?
Can druid heal?
druids can heal and is generally a decent replacement for a cleric, but is there any permanent druid party member in this game? I know you can get Jaheira later on, but I don't know if she was a temporary party member or you could get her permanently.
if you recruit halsin he sits in your camp and later on he gives you a quest where he becomes a playable party member
I thought I could get through this without metagaming but I am getting completely fricking rekt in the Underdark.
Paladins are cucks who are forced to suck dicks, or they break their oath.
Bards are the real Paladins in DnD 5e. They give zero shit about any cuck oath. They do what they want. Their charisma is hard carrying them through everything and Bard is literally the highest char class.
To make everything better, Bard is also the highest dex class and EVERYTHING a Bard does scales with dex or char. The Bard is literally stealing your waifus pantsu without you noticing and even if you find the Bard balls deep inside your waifu after picking all locks in the house, he can just talk his way out.
Couldn't get any more (You)s on /vg/ without getting mocked so now you're trying other threads, huh?
>go to level up screen
>GPU shoots up to 80c
what the frick is it with this game?
first non emulator vulkan game? it fully utilizes your cpu+gpu.
To every dumb frick in this thread that say Paladins are devoted to the gods, they aren't. Clerics are the champions of the gods. And while Paladins often times devote themselves to a God, they first and foremost dedicated to their oath. Conviction towards their oath literally gives them their powers
I don't get how this game is woke. My paladin. Has been righteously executing every homosexual and tiefling I meet. I straight capped that white haired homosexual the second he came to me. Which made me only a little sad as he was kind of funny for a homosexual.
This is the beauty of CRPGs, the characters may be poorly written redditors, but you can literally kill them and nothing impedes your progress, no meta moralgaygery appears telling you that you shouldn't have done it, you just carry on.
Nothing stopping you from having a smart Paladin, but you have to accept that the class doesn't ping off of intelligence. Roleplay or powergame, you can't have both unless you cheat.
can skelly bro change my stats?
How viable is it to make Wyill a Bard? I'm already a warlock and I'll probably just make him a support bot.
Should be perfectly viable.
Can you respec your party?
Yes, with an NPC you meet very early, it costs gold.
Does it break any storylines?
yes
What party members will compliment my based Evocation Wizarding duo (me and my bro Gale)
I'm really enjoying act 3 the most so far. The power struggle in the city is kind of fun.
>anon learns religious zealots are brainlets
lol. lmao even.
