They hiked up the price of the latest DLC while offering less content than previously, then told people "buy our shit or we stop making it". Even Warhammer autists have a limit it seems. They all still bought it of course.
man why is every company doing this now
they promised so much for 3 now this? i love this game to death and they do me dirty like this
Because the few competent devs get tired of the shit higher-ups are pulling and either stop giving frick or just leave.
Now you are left with new hires that don't know the product and ofc roasties, diversity hires etc that aren't helping.
Total war codebase has to be absolute nightmare because the same bugs are constantly coming back.
I've read somewhere that they had to rewrite big portion of some system just to fix few minor issues. That does not sound like good design to me.
>That does not sound like good design to me.
Doesn't really surprise me. They still use a modified warscape engine, as in the one from Empire TW, with just new shit bolted on to it.
Considering that last games aren't trying to emulate line warfare they might have to use suboptimal solutions and depending on how many of the engine developers they still have it might be an issue too.
The timeline is >WH2 comes to the end of its lifetime >most of the bugs have been fixed >prepare to make 3 >moronic Sega execs decide now is the time for a AAAA live service super game, throw a dart at a list of names and CA happens to be it >almost all of CA’s devs are poached for this dead on arrival project >3 is left with a skeleton crew that is clearly not used to working on it >as a result, they make 3 not with the build 2 ended up with, but the bugged mess it started as >3 is now even more fricked than 2, due to compounding on broken issues and causing a mechanicus tier spaghetti nightmare of code >as a result of desperately trying to fix this, immortal empires come out a year later than it should (for reference, mortal empires came a month after release of 2) >they finally get some momentum back and release some DLCs that, while being overpriced, so actually fill a gap >meanwhile Sega finally realises how much money their moronic project is bleeding >CA knows they have to desperately recoup costs for the impending dirty bomb that’s going to drop >release a moronicly overpriced DLC
We are here.
They are probably not lying when they say buy it or there won’t be any more, because Hyenas is going to kill the company
I blame both.
CA might be bled dry but it doesn’t excuse their abject incompetence or terrible PR.
Sega might not have directly ordered their stupidity and money gouging, but it was their pants on head moronic edict that started the mess, all to chase a fad that’s already dead
why not?
are you actually suggesting that CA had much input in what sega tells its wholly owned subsidiary to do?
sure it might have been CA management that decided on making a fricking 80s nostalgia whatever shooter, but guess who put the management there.
sega is VERY hands on with its studios, so much so that it was big news that RGG studios has so much independence in its decisionmaking. we didnt hear the same for CA

It wasn't Sega that did diversity hires with 2 months of experience in CSS to work on Warhammer 3.

and diversity hires are not responsible for anything you fricking moronic muppet.
diversity hires are not supercharging the price to 250%, nor cutting the quality and content standard in half, if just that.

Pricing isn't the only issue dummy, it's lack of ability to write coherent code and fix bugs that exists since day one. Not to even mention AI that's worse than some Atari games at times or make a proper siege rework. Play the game first.

They hiked up the price of the latest DLC while offering less content than previously, then told people "buy our shit or we stop making it". Even Warhammer autists have a limit it seems. They all still bought it of course.
DLC costs more for half the content as the other DLCs
They made a whole blog about "Please buy it or we're not supporting this game anymore"
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/dlc_statement/
The DLC shitshow was really the tipping point. By itself it was already pretty egregious but I really don't think the community backlash would have been as bad if there wasn't also a mountain of bugs that are still present in the game, some of which were discovered since initial release, their abysmal patch release cycle in which major bug "fixes" are packaged together with content pataches that are released every couple of months, and I put that in quotations because sometimes the fixes don't even do what they're suppose to. It's not until recently that they're starting to have regular hotfix patches though I suspect that's more of a reaction to the backlash and I'm not gonna hold my breath that this will be the norm going forward. The seeming regression of the AI in which they are dumber than ever. The baffling mechanics choices, like how the level cap for heroes and Lords is now 50, up from 40. But the skill points system for the heroes and Lords don't account for this. Like I can understand older heroes like the Empire Captain reaching level cap and having filled all of their skill tree with points left over, its Empire they haven't received updates yet. But the Cathay heroes and the Kislev patriarchs also having their whole trees filled with points left over? How? They're base game 3 races, how did this happen?! And of course the recent update that is suppose to focus on updating said races did nothing to update them. Needless to say I am not feeling hopeful for the Empire and Dwarves update in 5.0
i dont mind price increases or less content, the issue is you cant do both at the same time
is inflation so high that you have to increase the price? that's fine if it's the same product
did you instead reduce the quality of the product to cut on costs? that's fine but the price shouldn't increase too
nonsensical
Just your typical corporate PR message to try to sound professional and reasonable but fail miserably and just make them look worse and more tone deaf. Wouldn't surprise me if the whole thing was crafted using ChatGPT.
Siphoning budget into making a team based shooter that is looking to be dead on arrival.
That and the other Total War they're making, Pharaoh isn't really gaining much traction either, for a Total War title.
>"If you don't buy our cash cow we will stop supporting it"
Worst threat ever, will buy their last dlc on g2a or similar when it's 15$ so CA gets 0$ from me.
you only need the base wh3 then you acquire the rest with creamapi, stop supporting the dlc business model with corps charging hundreds of dollars for what should have been a single purchase all to feed their useless marketing departments and CEO yachts and whatnot. buying dlcs, especially such tiny ones is directly contributing to further degradation of this industry.
> series fatigue
yeah, seems likely when it comes to TW which is basically just an iterative series of the very same game.
people who played since shogun 1 are still not fatigued, and certainly wont be simply from the fact that it is the first game with a 3 in the end.
the problem with TWH 3 is the quality and care, 100%, nothing else.
and the reason why some people might not actually go back to 2 after getting burned by 3 is that it actually feels like a betrayal and they dont feel like it, because in some ways it is, and going back to 2 just reminds you of how much of your goodwill they squandered with not giving it the same amount of care.
There are certain 'artetfacts' you can randomly get after battles or some quest battles that can be very strong but that's about it. Different factions play differently and some legendary lords within same factions also play differently.
Absolutely no. This is a typical TW. But it would be better if it really was done as heroes of might and magic. TW gameplay has always been superficial and mediocre.
Core game is still a great deal.
Just creamapi all the dlc and use mods and you have a just unbelievably massive game.
Yes, I'm defending this game.
But CA and Sega don't deserve a penny but it hasn't been cracked yet and steam workshop is really good.
>2 minute loading times with an SSD
cool
works on my machine
>6 or 8 on hdd if you really want to play
hey at least they got furriest and ratgays
oh wait what the frick happened? 12% positive reviews?
what did i miss
The last DLC is goyslop and it costs 2.5 times more for no fricking reason plus the game itself is bad, with CA not giving a frick.
man why is every company doing this now

In a different, better, world, CA would start a new team of competent developers to create a new total war engine from scratch.
>That does not sound like good design to me.

Holy shit. That's some patronizing bullshit.

Based anon buying stolen keys from grey marketplace so CA loses money instead of just pirating the DLC.
you only need the base wh3 then you acquire the rest with creamapi, stop supporting the dlc business model with corps charging hundreds of dollars for what should have been a single purchase all to feed their useless marketing departments and CEO yachts and whatnot. buying dlcs, especially such tiny ones is directly contributing to further degradation of this industry.
This.
I usually buy the dlc but I’ve been creaming lately
I have thousands of hours in wh1&2 but couldn't even play wh3 for even 100 hours. Straight dogshit through and through.
I like simultaneous turns in Co Op and chaos factions. Other than that it's crap, but better than WH1.
Unless you're back to playing TWW2 I'd imagine series fatigue is playing a bigger part than the actual quality
(not that the new factions shouldn't have been fleshed out and new enough to overcome that)
> series fatigue

if you ignore real life battles and setting i heard gameplay is actually similar to homm3, is that true?
no.
hard no.
like, whoever told you that should get checked, because they are spouting demented nonsense.
There are certain 'artetfacts' you can randomly get after battles or some quest battles that can be very strong but that's about it. Different factions play differently and some legendary lords within same factions also play differently.

>want to play as Skaven
>have to buy Total Warhammer 2 and 3
Frick you.
Just but tww3 and use creamapi
Does blood enable dlc creamapi still broken?
yeah but the blood dlc is across the games so maybe the one from the previous warhammer titles is less costly
You just need 2 to play Skaven
Don't I need 3 as well to be able to play with people who have TW3 or is every game launched in some separate launcher?
Yes , you need 3 to play with people who have 3, you can play Co op in 2 also with people who have 2 although it doesn't have simultaneous turns.
