Bonus video. The music just pairs so well. I think this may be the best opening cinematic I've ever seen. The sense of urgency, the underlying tones of advanced technology, then the hopeful, empowering build up. Just such a great piece.
In case you didn't know, there's a whole bunch of vidya music that was performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Icarus Rising, the GTAIV theme and Halo 3 are particularly excellent.
I used to make shitty lofi years back all the time and lofi back then was so cool and interesting. It was still an extremely niche genre and people were still experimenting and each song was different but now normies found that A4 guideline for lofi trash... wtf happened to our genre, lofibros?
>I used to make shitty lofi years back all the time and lofi back then was so cool and interesting.
You literally just slap a repetitive, droning, slow drum beat over actual good music and call it a "remix" like the talentless Black person you are.
I wouldn't classify J Dilla as lo-fi, but I'm probably ignorant of the terms usage. It always makes me think of the remixes and 24/7 youtube channels that stream that shit
Lo-Fi was not remixes and 24/7 youtube channel stream shit. Lo-Fi was highly experimental music with lots of voice lines (usually japanese) in it and choppy breaks (music suddenly stops, random stop after snare etc) until the normies arrived
>creeping through the dark, winding corridors of the Habitation decks >don't know if the Alien is even active right now >music loops >finally make it to the end >I can leave this goddamn place >generator >The generator is broken. Fix it. >I HAVE TO GO BACK. >1:40 kicks in
Such an outstanding moment in an outstanding game. If you haven't played Alien: Isolation, remedy that soon.
This was my favourite track from the radio. I used to go coo coo bananas whenever it came on, driving around as a little 11 year old kid. Me and my bro would sit together, head to the roof of the Portland docks, slap in the armed pedestrians and pedestrian riot cheats, and just start blasting with the sniper rifle all day. Good times, good times. It wasn't until much later that I realised half the soundtrack is from Scarface.
I fricking love this game. Played it five times in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. Would just zip around the game world looking at shit. Graffiti (other than the ones Delsin makes), the shop signs, the buildings, pedestrians, just taking it all in. It really is such a beautiful game. And every time when this ambient track kicked in, mmm. We need another Infamous.
From about 1:40 onward. Tell me that isn't just the Horizon pause menu music.
What I love about this track is that it's so hauntingly mournful. That's the great thing about Horizon Zero Dawn that I feel other post apocalyptic games don't really capture, and that's how desperately sad the end of the world would actually be. Just all those lives, people, memories. Gone.
Funny story. I didn't actually get to hear this in my own play though. I found out about it later in a thread like this. It's supposed to play when you cross the border into Mexico, but I fell off a cliff into a river and died.
Really reminds me of this song for a fun little game, Rebel Galaxy. Really quite a decent spaceship battle thing. The song would play randomly while you flew around.
I use blocktube to block any video with extended or lo-fi in its titles.
I don't give a frick about these brain damage mixes that get recommended next to literally any video. And I don't hate extended videos I'm just sick of trying to find a song and not being able to actually find its original duration underneath all the 20 hour loops.
Absolutely love this track. You kinda get the impression that Borderlands is gonna be a wacky, goofy hoo hoo ha ha sorta game, but then you make it to Fyrestone and this kicks in and think, shit, maybe I better take this game seriously.
Dead Rising 1 + 2 are such fun little games with a surprisingly decent story. Check out everyone's favourite diabetic superstar, Rich Evan's (yes, from RedLetterMedia) no death perfect run of Dead Rising 1. Super fun and chill.
Subnautica: Below Zero has a jukebox in the game and an associated trophy for constructing one and playing it. Plis, there's hidden CDs you rind hidden around the game world. So I figure it's just gonna be some silly little bleep bloop doot doot music, nothing special. Then this song comes on. It's now one of my most favourite songs ever.
It's amazing how well this game holds up, still, 34 years later. Truly one of the best games of all time. I dunno, maybe I was just dumb (well, I was 4 when I first played it) but I never really caught on until much later that the music changes to include bongos when you're riding Yoshi.
I played the Sly series in my late 20's cos I skipped all those kinds of games when they came out, you know, Sly, Jak, Ratchet and Clank. I was pleasantly surprised by how funky this was. It's one of those bits of music that you just want to randomly listen to sometimes.
Love this main menu theme. The sense of creeping dread, military duty, then building up to a triumphant force of will and determination. Resistance 2 is one of the, hell, maybe even THE best FPS ever made.
And remember, respect is everything! This was the GTA2 main theme for all you babbys that never played it. I dunno why, but for some reason I feel like this song would be the perfect intro walk on song for an obese, English darts player.
This is the best trailer I've ever seen for a videogame, yet, even after all this time. Perfect song, perfect everything. When Ezio turns and elbows that guy in the face, damn. I was so fricking pumped when I first saw it. Ubisoft must've dumped an assload of money on advertising because they would play the whole thing on TV several times.
Hell, talking about ads. I guess there's a good chance a few of you won't have seen this. Ganker coomed our collective pants back in the day, everybody loved it.
>Lo Fi
What does this mean >Low Fidelity
No, I mean what does this mean?
Whenever I see a video or stream of it, it sounds more like typical digital sound samples than an amateur strumming away on an untuned guitar
>Be me in 2005 >Downloading Final Fantasy remixes on Overclocked Remixes >Listening to new track >Suddenly a horrifically autistic voice started singing original lyrics
Some sperg wrote lyrics to the Cosmo Canyon theme and it was fricking BRUTAL. I couldn't play three seconds without pausing.
Vidya music thread? Frick it, I was just listening to this, so why not.
>with shopkeeper
frick you

This sounds like a jazzed up version of Japanese mall music.

I hate those videos. Sometimes I hate read the comments on them.
Its 4/20:
Speaking of comments...

Hotline Miami and 2 are musical masterworks and among the best games ever made.
I agree
I was fricking hyped when I listened to the new version of the score screen in hm2
we went from this
to this
Allow me to introduce you to Hotline Miami mashups. Might as well start you off with the best one.

Most moving piece of music I've ever heard. i cry errytime 🙁
SS it has some fantastic music. This one pops into my head a lot

Was Nujabes talentless? J Dilla? The legit pioneers of Lo-Fi

Final Fantasy 8 has the best music of any FF game, and Dollet Landing is the best track. Here's a remade version just for fun.

I used to think the lyrics were crime, jail, sex. Turns out it's just the german numbers from 1 to 6. Heh.

You want underrated tracks boy, I gotchu.
