I finished it yesterday, had a grand time. I got completely sucked in for an entire week and played it 10 hours a day. I didn't expect it to be so addictive. Surprisingly the difficulty really enhanced the experience, and I'm not usually the masochistic type.

The game is boring at first.
Then you get used to the mechanics and it gets more fun.
Then it throws huge difficulty curves in your way making the game extremely unfun again.
In the beginning I had fun figuring out the different abnormalities, raising my employees and such.
Then when the suppressions started I had a lot of fun figuring out strategies to tackle each one.
The later suppressions, especially Chesed, Hokma and Binah kicked my ass at first but I also had a lot of fun making more and more complicated plans until I could execute them well enough to make it with minimal losses. Things got hectic then because I had to do them all with QoH, AiB and Clouded Monk which added a lot of chaos to the whole process.
Then I reset to day 1 to make an easier to manage facility for the last 5 days, which were honestly not that hard since I didn't keep any painful abnormalities that time around.
I don't know why, but this game had a special quality where every time my facility went up in flames I had a huge smile on my face and kept going back for more.
Play Library of Ruina, then play modded Library of Ruina, then when you're bored in about 3 months come back and ask the same question.
It depends on whether you like deckbuilders. I'm told it's mechanically one of the best deckbuilders out there, but I hate the genre so I had an awful time. I only put up with it to experience the story. Which was pretty good, though I liked it less than LC + it ends on an unsatisfying cliffhanger which leads straight into the gacha.
The gacha's story surprisingly managed to be mostly on par with LoR (with a few weak spots like chapter 2 and chapter 5) but the grinding is awful.

It's not like there is a lot of competition in regard to high production value deckbuilders in the first place. Plus there is a shitton of slop in that genre pushing Ruina higher, even if you don't prefer it above all other deckbuilding games
It plays nothing like a deckbuilder. Having a deck that you can edit between encounters isn't enough to make something a deckbuilder like Dominion. The continuous growth and modification of a deck in incremental ways is what makes something a proper deckbuilder.
Yugioh and Magic the Gathering aren't deckbuilders despite the very obvious act of needing to build a deck before you begin. Their gameplay is focused on dueling one another, rather than iteration during gameplay itself.
LoR is more like a tactical RPG battler with cards instead of menus. Yes some principles from deckbuilders will carry over (draw skills being super powerful, ideally you want to be energy positive or neutral after totaling energy spent/gained so you can keep playing in the next turn), but that's true of all card games where cards and mana are a resource.

He's right though, the term "deckbuilder" is pretty specific in what it refers to and that's when the acquiring of cards and incremental changing of one deck is part of the gameplay mechanics. If you were to do something like a tournament in a draft format where after each match everyone got an extra pack to modify their deck then that would make them deckbuilders, but by the standard rulesets neither would be deckbuilders despite involving deck building.
It's kind of like RPGs, almost every Game involves Playing a Role but the term is more specific than the literal interpretation of its component words.
I'm sick of so many games forcing their delivery of their game mechanic to be deck-building when it doesn't need to be.

I stopped my first playthrough at about day 33-35 because I was getting sucked into other games. Without having done any suppressions or seen the reported bullshit from the last few days, it was still a pretty uphill battle, but I understand that it was on me for not putting enough effort in grinding, learning more about ordeals, etc.
Are there any tips on how to properly scale your nuggets, how to balance departments, abnos and such? And yes, I read the manual, I sleep with the manual under my pillow.
I guess that the best tip is try to do the suppression and missions ASAP. Some are really hard (specially Gebura's) depending on the abnos you have, so going back to memory depository is a valid option. After finishing all of Hod's missions you'll get pretty good upgrade for your nuggets that makes restarting and hiring new nuggets in general way easier

In terms of core mechanics Ruina is literally StS tier, utterly godlike. The big flaw is that there's a lot of content that could still be expanded (to the point where economy cards are severely lacking and you end up being forced towards 2-3 of them around lategame unless you go for very specific strats) and so the game ends up feeling samey after a while. That said, the campaign isn't long enough for that lack of card variety to hit- it's probably going to strike around your 3rd playthrough.
So, mod the hell out of it by the time you get there.

These are the only two passives you should really know about.
Hoo boy. I have a recommended strategy- burn bright, extinguish quickly.
First of all, I'd slot two or more 4-cost pages into everyone's deck. Preferrably unique pages like Rhino Ram, Lock, Stiletto and the like. They're very powerful pages balanced by the fact you have one of them only. With the second passive they're going to get added to your deck and you'll have a deck crammed shut of very high cost, very powerful pages. Bring as much light recovery as you can, and use 3 copies of Ominous Power if possible.
Your gameplan is to immediately set your starting Light on fire with a high cost card to make sure you're starting the turn at low Light. It will take some turns to do this because Emotion levels are quick to get initially, but by turn 4-5 you should start the turn with 0 light. Then you get to reap the ENORMOUS benefit for the turn and wallop your enemies immediately with a ton of high cost cards as they get a frickton of paralysis.
After you do this, you're going to be significantly weakened and half your deck will be near unplayable. Thus, you must bring strong light recovery cards and keep them in hand until after this powerful burst turn. Ominous Power, emotion levels and light recovery will let you keep running on fumes for 2-3 turns but after that you're kinda fricked, so it's best to use the momentum picked in the burst turn to finish the fight quickly.
In summation, your goal is to bring your passive's burst effect online as soon as possible to make your enemies into a joke for a turn, and use that momentum to win. The issue with this deck is that after you activate the passive you lose out on a powerful recovery passive, sacrificing long term performance for a burst of guaranteed clash wins for the whole team. So, it's best if you make sure there ISN'T a long term.
Yeah, cwr pages are nuts. I'll post another keypage from the mod. I already know how to build him, but the sheer absurdity of the keypage is enormous. When you get to late game, you practically spam out 3 light costs like it's no problem.

the gacha is weird because its not really like a usual gacha. All the story sections are permanently playable and viewable. The only thing you will miss is their rewards when they released. On top of that the gacha has no true limited things in it so even a new player can get enough shard crates to craft whatever the most OP shit there is at the time. In addition you can borrow friend ids that are OP as frick from another anon itt if you ever get stuck and there are lots of guides on how to get past certain filters as a newbie borrowing a friend id

in essence a 2 wave fight would require two floors to beat with the first floor you use being locked but that seems too forced and players wont be able to use higher level awakening pages since there is only a couple 3 wave fights. Same issue with having each floor be able to only fight one wave per encounter
I remember one of the anons in these threads talking about encouraging more floors to be used. His idea was basically this: If they had low health. Then they start running away from the fight and ambush another floor.
If I'm being honest, this would only work if you weren't allowed to use your previous floor, or if them beating a floor results in gaining health.
yeah that sounds like a poor bandaid but I think something like: not using the previous floor resets their emotion level by 2 less than their current emotion level but keeps the awakening pages and all bonuses granted by heightened emotion. Essentially allowing max emotion level floors to be able to cash in on the emotion level light refresh after they hit max emotion. Since I know longer fights where you hit emotion level 4 start to struggle hard with light

You'd have to download every version of LoR just to play the pre nerfed fights. As well, if you want to fight the pre nerf ensemble. Then all you would need to do is follow the pre-nerf rules. With the addition of not being able to use the ensemble pages when you get them.

Not that guy but I enjoyed fighting him playing along to his gimmick. My one guy had like 10+ sin and everybody stayed at 1-2 the whole time. The problem is potentially killing your sin dump guy, but if you keep only using weak resource pages on him then he won't die during stagger
Break its knees and speedrun it with damage. The joke is that if you play by its rules the fight is too unfair so you have to break its rules and obliterate it with brute force instead while trying to get sin as slowly as possible.

so a 16 attack with an offence level of 45 vs a enemy with a defense level of 42 makes it deal 17 raw damage x sin resistance x damage type resistance
Iirc it's 3% more damage per difference between attacker offense level and victim defense level, which caps naturally(I THINK) at 30% or 33%, there's of course damage and affinity type, same for the reverse, so if an enemy has 10 more points of defense than the attacker, then the attack will do 30% less damage.

I really hate how much of a timesink and chore it felt to play. The whole being an SCP director kinda fell off for me when I realize that there wasn’t much nuance in dealing with the SCP other than to beat the shit out of them with the auto battler. Combined that you need to take care of everyone individual stat, it just feel like a chore. In the end the game felt like an autobattler where the odd is stacked against you unless you do multiple playthrough and level yourself up. Tried other PM game and the only one I can stomach is Limbus, and even then it is an RNG fest to be considered a strategy game.
