They even thought about stuff in Remake and added shit like Auto-Unique Ability, Auto-Weapon ability, Item Economizer just to remember a few that took issues of Remake and fixed them via Materia system. In what way? Because I don't see it. Both the actual combat and materia system are superior in Remake. In the OG everyone basically played the same but now each character have their own style and strategy. Remake overall combat system is leagues much more advanced and tactical than the original in literally every way. Especially on Hard mode the game pushes you to make builds you didn't even thought it could be possible.... Of-course you could beat any hard fight now using that shitty method people found by spamming Brumal Form if you want to ruin the experience.
FF7 had a huge problem where the game was filled with generic enemy encounters that were obviously no threat to the player but took the better part of a minute to clear due to slow attack rates with overly flashy animations against enemies with too much health.
Rebirth "solved" that problem and made it "better" in that 'the better part of a minute' is now 'five minutes'

They actually improved the dodging, mobility, air combat, added a timed guard ect.
Now enemy attacks have actual thought and design behind them and you can avoid taking damage just like KH2.

Final Fantasy was okay when it was doing "4 homies in a row" better than anyone else at the time which was a very brief window. The story isn't compelling, the characters aren't interesting and it didn't really do anything innovative. The remakes are no different.

My question is that if you are going to make so many changes to the original then what's the point of the remake? Over making a brand new game? This is the sad reality, the 13 years spent on the FF7 remakes could be spent making FF17 and FF18 instead. Would have been a better financial decision and a better decision for the FF brand. Realistically speaking, is VII notable or remembered for anything other than its two major female leads?
It had some of the best atmosphere and consistent but slow-burn worldbuilding of any JRPG up to that point. It's one of the few times I'll actually invoke SOVL, and a large part of why I didn't find VIII or IX appealing is because they lacked something in that department. Outside of the broken combos being absent, its the same. They even thought about stuff in Remake and added shit like Auto-Unique Ability, Auto-Weapon ability, Item Economizer just to remember a few that took issues of Remake and fixed them via Materia system. I'd say the only hurdle for part 3 to tackle is maybe some new equipment slot or materia that wouldn't take a slot cause some of them are mandatory to make the AI do shit.

In the OG everyone basically played the same but now each character have their own style and strategy. Remake overall combat system is leagues much more advanced and tactical than the original in literally every way. Of-course you could beat any hard fight now using that shitty method people found by spamming Brumal Form if you want to ruin the experience.

They actually improved the dodging, mobility, air combat, added a timed guard ect.
Now enemy attacks have actual thought and design behind them and you can avoid taking damage just like KH2.

Final Fantasy was okay when it was doing "4 homies in a row" better than anyone else at the time which was a very brief window. The story isn't compelling, the characters aren't interesting and it didn't really do anything innovative. The remakes are no different.

My question is that if you are going to make so many changes to the original then what's the point of the remake? Over making a brand new game? This is the sad reality, the 13 years spent on the FF7 remakes could be spent making FF17 and FF18 instead. Would have been a better financial decision and a better decision for the FF brand. Square and Enix were both shitstains who accidentally published a handful of decent games made by third parties or by short-lived in-house teams that were long gone before the merger.
But then where did all those talented people go?
They got on with their lives? Back in those first couple of decaces, designing and programming vidya wasn't an actual career, it was just an offshoot of general technical work throwing ideas around and taking influence from the books they read in high school. I.E. they didn't have stupid ass "Game Design" degrees from Phoenix University hanging on their wall. They probably realized that despite the popularity of (some of) the games within the medium, ultimately the sales weren't reaching the creators and their teams, not to mention the general disrespect the medium had at the time (and still has) in communities. So they got different jobs, and all who remained were people with zero self-awareness in their own lack of mechanical and/or creative talent who couldn't let go. So they kept going, if for no other reason because it was easy, and they have no responsibilities. Much like their presumed audience.

It had some of the best atmosphere and consistent but slow-burn worldbuilding of any JRPG up to that point. It's one of the few times I'll actually invoke SOVL, and a large part of why I didn't find VIII or IX appealing is because they lacked something in that department.
