That's nice but I'm busy planning on stealing everything in the Kecleon shop and escaping into the walls. Go find a monster house or something.
Ghosts being able to enter walls blew my mind as a kid
I used to travel through the walls as a Misdreavus and calculate how much time I could spend not on hunger, but on health. If I needed more I would head back and Pain Split a Kecleon. It was certainly interesting.
this game
Used to scare the shit out of me as a kid
Probably because of how the music starts off
>Discharge
>Gen 4 move
>In PMD Rescue
>lightning rod
You didn't beat the game
>Discharge
>In PMD Red
Based moron.
Now Heat Wave? THAT's my shit.
>move didnt exist yet
also
>hitting seedots with electric and expecting ohkos
amazing how the mystery dungeons had better gameplay and story than the main games
Only one of them does, and it's only better than the post Gen 5 games.
>images you can hear
That Grimer sprite always gets me.
It's so dumb looking. I love it.
these were easy as shit cuz they trigger by entering a room, if you walk back into the passage the monsters will just come one by one and it's free exp you guys realized this right, you didn't enter a room with a TM or gummi just because it may trigger a monster house right?
of course you goober, the problem which the gif shows is when you literally start the floor inside a monster room and don't have a corridor to bottleneck them in
t. never once got the failsafe room generation that's just a massive monster house with no corridors or rooms
AAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>Go to Mt. Travail
>See a Kecleon shop
>Pick up a gummi with full intention of buying it
>Ledyba walks in just out of my line of sight, figure I can beat it once it gets close
>Ledyba uses Baton Pass
>Warps me off the shop grounds
>Kecleon accuses me of shoplifting
>Die
What kind of sadist frick designed this?
always carry a pure seed
>2 Apples
>2 Oran Berries
>1 Reviver Seed (2 if in known AOE Bullshit Dungeons)
>1 Escape Orb
>2 Held Items
It's like a whole page worth, but I will never leave from base without my trusted toolkit. I was and am WAY too stingy with Pure Seeds, saving them for postgame and then not using them.
>walk up to shop
>step on explosion trap
>blows up half the shop's inventory
>that aggros kecleon
>die
i hate this game sometimes man
Good times in Spelunky
that was the best thing they fixed in 2
My first experience ever with a shop keeper in Spelunky was being called a terrorist as a boulder went into their store lmao
if I remember right if you try to step outside of the shop with an item you can't afford the game always assumes you're shoplifting it. I think that fricked me hard once just because I was a few dollars short for a reviver seed or something.
Always actually talk to the kecleon when you want to pay don't make him stop you on the way out.
Ugh I hated trying to recruit kecleon
>Use itemizer orb on an enemy that fricked me over.
>Put the item in the Kangaskhan storage and never take it out.
God I love creating my own crazy little adventures Ganker.
What happens to Pokemon that have an itemiser orb used on them? Are they still alive? If so, what happens when that item gets used or eaten?
Death. Death happens to them.
Can't you get itemized and it counts as a KO?
So not death, but I would appreciate if it just killed you and deleted your save file
>Can't you get itemized and it counts as a KO?
No because enemies cannot use orbs
Are orbs affected by cowering or confusion? If so you could use on on the partner if you don't have the nontraitor IQ skill.
That can't happen either, using items isn't affected by confusion, only throwing them
Can you get confused and use it on a teammate? What would happen then?
Oh my fricking god anon, stop trying to stealthily drag people into discussing your fetish. I hate when people do this predator shit.
I was genuinely curious. I didn't even know confusion fetish was really a thing, calm down.
People don't like Gates for a lot of reasons. Slow text speed, cut dex with mostly gen 5 mons, only 5 starters, dungeons are more cramped with 95% of encounters taking place in narrow hallways. I actually liked Gates because it has in my opinion the best partner, the second best story behind Explorers, a couple great twists, decent story pacing, and a nice supporting cast.
I think Super is worth trying if you enjoyed the rest, but like what others said, it starts off really slow. Kinda like the opposite of Gates, the gameplay was a lot more fun and forced me to be more resourceful and turn back on items rather than spam my stab move. The partner also has access to at least one range move so they can stop being a useless shit in hallways and help out. The difficulty is turned up, but you have a lot more items like wands to compensate. It may or may not be good depending who you ask. Recruitment is a lot more complicated, but I liked seeing the cameos of characters from previous games. You get an OP Salamence early but you can't bring him on story missions. The story is my least favorite. Serene Village drags on, and Lively Town doesn't feel much better. The climax was great, but the twist feels forced. Lot of interesting ideas, not that good of an execution.
>Throw itemizer orb at enemy
>Mirror move reflects it
>It turns you into a silver spike
>Which then falls into lava and melts
Fricking BRUTAL
>The god of time pokemon gets an itemizer reflected back at him
>Gets turned into spare change, which is then scattered to the winds
RIP
>Time is money
I played as shinx and torchic and i dont enjoy being depicted as a basedjak
please stop right now or the consequences will never be the same
I miss these goofy ass sprites like you wouldn't believe
Those KO'd sprites where the pokemon is crying made me feel sad as a kid
God, sprites have so much soul
I remember the first time I saw an onix in this game I nearly shit myself because I didn't realize they were actually that big. I wasn't expecting there to just be a giant fricking thing wandering around Magma Cavern like a normal pokemon.
Yeah they scared the frick out of me too, especially since the area they spawn in is almost entirely dark, cramped hallways
Also frick Aerodactyl in this game, they swarm you like crazy using Agility
Onix is big
That dopey looking Grimer is my spirit animal.
Also shat bricks the first time seeing an Onix cuz it's so frickin' huge and you expect that big motherfricker to just be lumberin' about 'til it hits smacks you in the face.
>SOVL: The Image
Will we ever get another mystery dungeon game?
Not likely, but I'm satisfied with what we got and if they made another one, there's always the chance that they could screw it up. Imagine the outrage if they made one worse than Gates.
What's the deal with Gates?
I don't know how well the Rescue Team remake did but I could see them doing something similar for Explorers
Problem is if they fricked up such a thing they might get Kyoani'd
ebin 😀
>[Enemy] picked up Rollcall Orb!
>[Enemy] used Wild Call!
I have never played a single one of these mystery dungeon games...this is the latest one right? should I give this a shot?
Yeah sure. It doesn't have the spritework of the original but it's still good.
ok but can I play as braixen in it? this is very important
Only game with the gen 6 starters is Super, and you can only evolve in postgame (unless you cheat in custom starters) so you are stuck as Fennekin until you beat the game. Sky also has Vulpix if firey foxes are your thing.
Rescue Team DX is a remake of a third gen game, so no. Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon has gen six Pokemon.
what a fricking shame my 3DS XL has a dead battery and the nintendo website NEVER HAS FRICKING STOCK of 3DS XL batteries.
Fricking have had a dead console for like a year
Just buy one from aliexpress. It doesn't matter that it's "not legit" because it's a dead console otherwise
3rd party batteries are superior for the 3ds
>playing as Braixen
>not making Braixen (female) your partner, who gets all the screentime and dialogue and loves you to death
doing it incredibly wrong
post more braixen
I don't know if the janitorial staff would like that
they would
Is good for an entry point
the only good game is sky tbh
That’s a remake of the originals
Explorers of Sky is generally considered the best
The remake is pretty divisive here, but I say this one's a net improvement overall. My real misgiving with it is the omission of the basic attack (i.e. a low damage neutral move that every pokemon can do) from the player character but the AI can still do if they run out of PP on their moves. It's got a beefy postgame if you enjoy the dungeon crawling.
No, play Super for that.
>i.e. a low damage neutral move that every pokemon can do
Lol that shit replaced moves entirely if your attack stat was high enough
The games honestly suck. Liked it as a kid because i didn't know any better.
That remake literally includes a button that makes the game play itself so even the devs know how bad the gameplay is.
I've played every pokémon game since Red, practically lived on Serebii and /vp/ for a while, and I have never understood why people praise the mystery dungeon games. They got terrible reviews on release, and when I actually went to play them (even trying the "good" ones that came later) I have always felt that they were just super tedious and frustrating. These games truly suck ass
>filtered by literal children's game
>practically lived on Serebii and /vp/ for a while
Good to see you here, Joe Merrick.
>lived on serebii and /vp/
>thinks professional reviews aren't moronic
If it's not your thing then it's not your thing. Mystery dungeon games are a very niche genre.
You have incredibly shit taste
People like it because it's gateway furry fantasy. Some actually enjoy the gameplay while others just stomach through it to see the story.
What if you do all three
the remake still sucks balls though, change my mind
It's a remake of the original GBA/DS game, and it's actually a (rare) good remake. There's a few trade-offs with the original but overall, an improvement.
The other DS games, Explorers of Time, Darkness, Sky, are also very good and probably the best in the series.
The 3DS games are very lackluster and I would only recommend them if you really liked the others and definitely want more. Super is a little better than Gates to Infinity. Super is frustratingly close to being a great game but so many things, particularly mid to late game, were bungled.
What did you dislike about Super?
It's a remake of the second best game in the series so it's got good bones, and the changes (outside of sprites) won't rattle your autism like they do mine because you'll be new to the series. I'd say try it, think there's a demo on the eshop.
SKY
I played through it last month and had a lot of fun. I dropped it immediately after finishing the story (because of my large backlog), but maybe I'll go back and check out the postgame sometime.
t. longtime fan of main series pokemon, but never played any of the other MD games
>Actually a ROGUELIKE
frick. Why is understanding this so hard for developers?
>Step into empty room, nothing in sight
>Take another step
>Beautifly used Silver Wind!
>Beautifly’s Attack went up!
>Beautifly’s Special Attack went up!
>Beautifly’s Defense went up!
>Beautifly’s Special Defense went up!
>Beautifly is at double speed!
>Beautifly used Silver Wind!
>Purity Forest
I grinded up rank points by doing rescues in all the end game dungeons, but those poor souls in Purity Forest were not getting any help from me.
Too great a chance of a wipe, and then that's hours of work down the drain.
Even to this day I'm still not entirely sure how to beat it. The restrictions the dungeon places on you are hardcore.
Use electrode for sonic boom which is always 55 damage or some shit
Use charizard for heat wave which is room clearing
Use alakazam for teleport which is good
and uhh someone else I think has powder snow which is room clearing
Kecleon is a good choise for that dungeon too
it's all about the pokemon you choose, some are nearly impossible while others are pretty easy if you know what you're doing.
kecleon is pretty much the best mon you can take.
reminder there is a guy doing clears of purity forest with EVERY pokemon
he's currently 106/386 complete
and he has done some very hard ones like shedinja
That is absolutely mad. Huge respect to him, but my goodness that is indeed mad.
Fricking insanity
Respectable insanity, but god damn
kek
Holy shit, now that's some bad luck.
I laughin', but that's some phenomenally bad luck.
Sweet Jesus.
whats the chance % on this? lol
It varies between dungeons, but Magma Cavern has an 8% chance per floor. The probability of encountering 6 monster houses in one run of it is apparently a 0.0000262%, or a 1 / 3,814,697 chance
Did you know that in Sinister Wood, the Sudowoodo enemies will never move until you get close?
Did you know that the Kadabra in Solar Cave are always asleep when they spawn?
Oldschool PMD was filled with these cool details
Super on 3DS brought back gimmick enemies
ledyba always spawned in groups of 4 and were sleeping
Braxien/delphox always held wands
Cascoon Silcoon would never move and just use harden
for me it's level 1 dungeons.
I'm debating on whether or not i should erase the data on my pmd1 cart to start a new game. on one hand ill be able to experience the story again, which is what i want, but I haven't completed all the post game content yet. what do?
emulate you dummy
Man, I'm on the same boat.
I replayed Pmd Red like a year ago, left the postgame content for later and I still kinda need to go back to it.
I say start a new save and enjoy the game to its fullest.
I think I may just do that too.
Postgame PMD1 is pretty legit but it doesn't take too long to get back. I'd restart.
just dump your save and then wipe it off the cart.
super easy if you have a hacked 3ds.
Just play it over again on a flashcart
The actual gamebreaker, right here
>get out of the tutorial
>first dungeon has room wide one-shot AoEs
Nice fricking balance, none of the other PMD are like this
That game is an absolute mess balance wise. Just hire overleveled mons and abuse items
I had no issue completing this game until The boss battle with yveltal and the elgyem protagonist was Tepig and the partner was Chespin both of these pokemon evolve into their final evolution for this fight which causes them to both be weak to flying type moves. Yveltal has Infinity Wing an AOE flying move with life steal. Every attempt ended in 1 turn with yveltal OHKOing my entire team on the first move. The only way I managed to beat this fight was by using an orb to teleport to Yveltal and using the multi move mechanic to get extreme luck with rollout and crits.
Still a good game I liked it more than rescue team and less than explorers but frick me that fight took ages and if it wasn't for the fact that multi hit moves are broken I would of never cleared the game.
>Parents knew I liked them pokaman games
>Got me PMD Blue Rescue on DS
>Loved it and tried to completionist it
>Could manage the 100 floor dungeons with mediocre legendary pokemon 30% recruit rates
>Basically gave up on the 100 floor "reduced to level 1" dungeons because they were unbalanced fricking aids
>Played PMD Sky and enjoyed it for a while (I think?) but I genuinely forgot everything about it
>Pick up PMD Super recently on Citra, runs fine but chugs to complete ass for a second every time it first loads an area
>Play it for like 5 hours over 2 days
>Hate literally everything about it
>Every change a net detriment seemingly done just to try changing the formula because "???"
I hope it's dead now because I'd rather they not continue after Super.
>Venomoth used Silver Wind!
>Venomoth's Attack rose! Venomoth's Defense rose! Venomoth's Sp. Atk rose! Venomoth's Sp. Def rose! Venomoth's Speed rose!

What the shit? the plot of this is I get isekai'd as a fricking eevee? did a horny furry write the plot of this game?
kinda hot ngl
here's your water stone, eat up
NO. I will not be a submissive and breedable vaporeon(male)
>spoiler
He's barely started and he's already become an average mystery dungeon fan
All the PMD games start with you, a human, having turned into a Pokemon. In Gates to Infinity you're not the only one, and there's a group of doomsday cultist Pokemon that are tracking down all the isekai'd humans and slaughtering them to send them back to their world so they can complete their apocalypse ritual unopposed.
I recall at least one doujin related to pmd. Only seen the first page, but I'm pretty sure it exists.
There's quite a few actually. I don't know exact names, but there's plenty out there.
s...source please?

hey thanks anon, now I'm going to play the game one handed for a while. Just saved caterpie in the fissure!
Glad you're enjoying the game anon.
wow he's literally me
oh no you got the low tier.
I miss Friend Areas.
The games overall had great story, great gameplay, great artstyle. But what I really love is that it also had great music. Every game really nailed the music imo. You had the grand adventurous music, as well as the calmer atmospheric music.
Golem used Rollout!
Golem used Rollout!
Golem used Rollout!
Golem used Rollout!
Golem used Rollout!
You were defeated by Golem’s Rollout.
Post yfw
I don't want to go
PMD1's ending always gets me.
That music changing from the calm and quiet into the main theme at 1:00 is so fricking good.
One thing I really liked about this ending is your Partner stopping to say
>”Ah! Are [Backup Pokemon 1&2] okay?!”
It’s just sweet to me since the script doesn’t acknowledge them most of the time
yeah that was nice, later games just prevented you from using recruits during important story moments and i don't like that.
Yeah that was always a major complaint I had to the later games and why I held red and blue as my favourites. The later games stop you from using recruits so regularly that I didn't even bother with the system entirely after a point.
I thought Explorers was pretty smart about it outside of a couple of moments.
>"This is a GUILD expedition, your recruits aren't guild-affiliated."
>Dusknoir grabbing you in the middle of the square, meant to be a surprise moment
>the Hidden Land is only accessible via Lapras' back, which barely fits you two + Grovyle
I'm aware there are more situations than just that, but these few are pretty well done. Shame about the others, for the most part.
sure the game justifies it, but it's still really shitty game design.
being unable to use your recruits for the majority of the game is awful.
you get only a couple dungeons with your first recruits (waterfall cave and apple woods) before they get sidelined for the expedition which leaves them massively underleveled, then you only get a couple more dungeons after that before the future arc, and after the future arc begins you can't use recruits for the entire rest of the main story.
but whoops, can't use them in the first postgame dungeon either, since that's your graduation exam and your teammates aren't part of your team apparently.
and then when the postgame story actually picks up they're sidelined yet again, since you can't take them to mt travail or any of the dungeons after it.
you might as well not even be able to recruit until after dark crater, wouldn't make a difference.
This always ticked me off with Explorers. Recruitment is great, but it was sidelined entirely for the sake of the plot. Especially with the number of story arcs that would take the player away from the Guild. Stuff stinks.
Explorers was a particularly hellish game when it came to dealing with the Partner, because holy shit they were garbage. Seeing that chippy little dunce pipe up for every little matter without ever being able to back it up both in the narrative and in gameplay was incredibly unsatisfying. Likewise, also hated how the Protagonist appeared to be a jobber every time because of them, since my Protag carried hard.
>t. Time player with Totodile Protag and Turtwig Partner
Hydro Pump and Ice Fang? Amazing. Turtwig being Turtwig? Yeah...
That said, had Riolu and Shinx in Sky. Absolutely broken pairing. Once Riolu learned Aura Sphere and Shinx learned Discharge, it was over. Nearly every battle was decimated in moments. Discharge especially, as I recall Shinx learning it relatively early on.
Wait, you barely use your recruits in the Explorer games?
Mainly whatever mons you start out with?
What the frick, part of the fun for me in Rescue Team was bringing my favorite mons along for adventures.
Even if the story didn't acknowledge them very much it was nice having them along through the whole journey.
Dang, man.
In Explorers you join an adventuring guild, and thus part of your spoils are taken by guild fees. In exchange you get room and board and the other guild members will help you out. They don't like non-members on official activities.
What Mystery Dungeon games are worth playing, and which are worth skipping out on.
If I plan on ever binging this series I wanna know if there are a couple I don't have to worry about.
Red and Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky for sure.
Every now and then I hear good things about Super, but also some not great stuff.
None of the others ever seemed worth it to me.
>play
explorers, RT/RTDX
>maybe play
super, gates
>skip
adventure squad
If you ask me depending on who you are they're all worth playing or none of them are worth playing.
They're all pretty good only Gates To Infinity is objectively flawed
Personally I think simply because of the story, the 4 main games (rescue team, sky, gates and super) are worth it imo. Though gates is kinda weak in some areas, it has very few pokemon and dungeon variety is poor so maybe skip that one. It's story is basically just a beta version of Super's story anyway.
So play red/bue (or the dx remake which is also good) then sky, then super. They're their own contained stories so if you don't want to do it in that order that's fine, though some of the later games do have callbacks so I'd go through in that order.
>must play
Blue Rescue Team, Explorers of Sky, arguably BRT remake
>worse versions of must play games but still great
Red Rescue Team, Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness, arguably BRT remake
>people say it's good but I did not like it
Super
>Bad
Gates to Infinity
the Wii one
>>must play
>Blue Rescue Team
versions
>Red Rescue Team
Wait, what was the difference? It has been years since I played them (I don't even remember which one I played, besides Explorers of Sky).
red rescue team is on the GBA rather than the DS, so you only have one screen.
that's about it when it comes to differences.
>red rescue team is on the GBA
Oh shit, you're right, I don't know why I thought they were both on the DS.
If you play Red Rescue Team you have to deal with the GBA's soundchip. Blue gives you the DS's soundchip.
All pokemon ones except gates and the wiiware games, and all shiren games
I have literally never seen any discussion on the WiiWare games
and there's a good reason for that.
they suck.
Had literally no idea they existed until this very post
makes sense since it looks like it was japan only
If I remember correctly, didn't they get a translation patch at some point?
I feel like, if nothing else, they're worth a playthrough for novelty's sake. Maybe.
>larvitar used leer!
>Chesnaught’s stats didn’t get lowered due to the resilience looplet!
>sirskit used sweet scent!
>Chesnaught’s stats didn’t get lowered due to the resilience looplet!
>Skitty used growl!
>Chesnaught’s stats didn’t get lowered due to the resilience looplet!
>Chesnaught used power up punch!
>Chesnaught’s attack went up!
>Play Explorers of Darkness for the first time
>Take the test and get torchic
>Choose pikachu as partner to deal with pesky water types
>mfw every time someone uses Earth Power
Are there any good non-Pokemon mystery dungeon games? I've only heard people talk fondly of the Pokemon ones.
chocobo and shiren are alright, etrian is fricking awful.
I feel hardened after beating the main story of this game. I am not doing the fricking postgame, the main game already was painful enough. I will say actually beating this game was super satisfying, but goddamn can it get insanely bullshit at times and made me appreciate the existence of reviver seeds in the PMD games so much more.
Frick the Super Gaze enemies. What the frick were they thinking with them.
for me it's those fricking bomb tanks
So is your partner for hugs or fugs?
fugs without hugs are no fugs at all
Do you autistic fricks have to lewd everything
As a kid playing this game I thought a lot about the implications of a human turned Pokémon evolving. Still not sure how I feel about it
I figured that it must be the Pokemon equivalent of bulking up or getting in shape rather than aging. After all, there's Drowzee and Grovyle and some of the guild members are likely adults yet are unevolved as well. I like to imagine that the youngest fully evolved Pokémon have different sizes like in the Charizard Valley from the anime.
That's an interesting take on it. The thing I always got hung up on is whether evolving would affect how you are if you ever became human again. Like would you be any different or would it have aged you or something
In Super there is a scene in the school where evolution is explained to the children in a implied puberty, growing up context. Also the passing Teddiursa dialogue kinda alludes evolving with growing up and how it decides not to evolve too early to enjoy its time as a child. But that's not to say there aren't older non evolved pokémon so in the end it's a very inconsistent thing.
I hated how if you choose a different party leader your main character and partner would get sent off to the friend areas as if they're any other Pokemon. Those two should live in the team base.
>up against a boss
>have partner use smokescreen so they can't hit me
>use bullet seed which does a shit ton of damage on every hit
>win
GG EZ
Any good PMD romhacks yet? Skytemple is only 3 years old but I'm curious anything good has come out of it.
there's an anon working on a QoL mod for PMD2 on /vp/, would recommend
QoL mod for blue so the kids stop shilling pmd dx?
does dx actually have qol changes?
DX is arguably the most polished game in terms of QOL.
According to posters, they are better in most technical aspects, but I hate the colors and the fricking 3d models.
I've not played any yet but a couple look cool. Psychic Puppets and Fragments look the most promising but a lot look interesting. I've only heard good things about Amaura on the High Seas and Blizzard Island Guide. Alpha also has a lot of gameplay changes in it but I don't know if it's any good. They have a full list of hacks here if you want to take a look yourself.
https://hacks.skytemple.org/
>try super on release
>weird web diagram thing where you can add any mon to your team, but they’re not always available
>immediately have access to a Salamence, didn’t even have to earn it
>last straw was running around and figuring out I can accidentally waste a turn by pushing enemy mons a space
I have not touched it since then
And they meme in /vp/ that super is good, fricking kids.
>last straw was running around and figuring out I can accidentally waste a turn by pushing enemy mons a space
It does take some getting used to since the controls are different from the other games, but the pushing mechanic does add more variety to the gameplay. Makes monster houses easier since you can push you team mates back through the corridor instead of setting them to run away and having to wait a turn.
The orb web thing is unbalanced but it does have some interesting lore connections.
Do the Etrian mystery dungeons have a story akin to the Pokemon games, or is it more Etrian style in the sense that you fill in most of the gaps?
pokemon as a franchise peaked here
This guy even says it's his best story
(Question 10)
That interview was clearly done around the time of the release of the game so it doesn't compare it to Gates or Super. Even Sky wasn't out then which had some nice extra stories.
Give up zoomie, super and gates are bad, no matter what you say to shill em. Still not buying a 3ds.
Blue and Sky are the ones I like.
>REEEE ONLY GAMES I PLAYED CAN BE GOOD, NEW THING BAD, IF YOU LIKE NEW THING YOU CAN ONLY BE A SHILL
Actual autism Anon, give Super a try honestly it's good. Gates I can understand due to reasons laid out already in this thread, but Super is great. You can recruit Grovyle and Shiny Celebi so it canonically takes place after the events of the future.
see
Why do you insist?
I can emulate it btw, so you can't fool me to spend 40 bucks and a 3ds just to say it's bad.
And see my reply to that post, honestly that Anon had a very poor reason to stop playing. Whilst Salamance does make things OP from the start you don't have to use it. The controls are a non issue, annoying at first since it's different to how it normally works but once you're used to it it's actually a very handy option to have.
I might give it a go when I have time.
where should i start with PMD?
Red/Blue Rescue Team or it's decent remake Rescue Team DX
>DX
Explorers of Sky, Anything after is soulless.
I'LL REGISTER YOU AS A moron
God I love this series of games like you wouldn't believe. I really hope Super isn't the last mainline game, I feel like there's still so much that can be done.
I MISS FRIEND AREAS SO FRICKING MUCH
true they were way more amazing then just having them all chillin where you cant see
plus they had cool music and looked generally very unique and/or epic
Christ, look at that Rayquaza Friend Area in the bottom right
This game's aesthetic was something else
Funny when I was growing up I played a game called Azure Dreams that had this same style of dungeon crawling and I NEVER played another game like it again till I found PMD
sovl
sovlful_
>b-but it's the first dungeon
>p-please I just got out of the tutorial
lmao too fricking bad
*OHKOs you before you can even see it*
I would pay money to have another Mystery Dungeon done in a style similar to the older games(in which the default attack wasn't useless garbage) and forming your own team and making your own base.
Although if there were some improvements that could be made it would be a way to be able to level off-duty members. Also how to make a story with things like Ultra Beasts.
Remember to play the non-pokemon mystery dungeon games too, friends
NEVER
>last game was on the DS but jap only and only got a western version on the fricking vita until steam/switch port
>wonder why the games aren't selling well
Also they barely promote these games, and for some reason the new port of 5 doesn't have the "mystery dungeon" named attached to it. I really hope we get 6 but chunsoft's moronation might make that impossible.
They have cult classic status in Japan and I think they just take that for granted. Whoever works in their foreign branch these days is a bunch of danganronpa fans who don't care about anything that can't be mistaken for danganronpa.
It sucks being a chunsoft fan that dislikes danganronpa, I just want more shiren and a new VN like 428 shibuya scramble
A majority of people playing PMD aren't doing it for the MD part of the title.
It's unironically one of the only good Pokemon games that captures the spirit and worldbuilding of the franchise perfectly, in a way everyone wishes and thought the mainline games would develop into before we got the modern turds.
Imagine becoming a Pokemon in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon : Explorers of the Sky...

Every fricking time.
Does anyone here actually do post-game? I played the PMD 1 and 2 and always stopped shortly after the main story because I was a dumb kid and had no idea what I was doing and it was obviously much a harder than the normal game. What is it like?
hell, it's satisfying though
There's actually quite a bit of story like content after the credits, only a bit of the postgame is the autism 99floor dungeons.
I used to as a kid though I never reached the end. In Explorers of the sky I quit because I couldn't beat darkrai and the room of fire and ground types with treeko, shinx and Cresselia. In Blue Rescue I remember beating Kyogure and something with Latias but not much after.
With the 3ds store shutting down soon whats the verdict on this game? Is it worth getting or will it leave a bad taste in my mouth
it's good and probably the hardest PMD game but holy frick prepare for 10 hours of your characters being in pokemon school
It left a bad taste in my mouth, not the worst thing ever but I'm not going to replay it.
You should post your favorite PMD song NOW
The only correct answer
Sky Tower seems to be the go-to answer for Rescue Team, but I've always really liked Magma Cavern.
This rendition might be cheesy but that's the PMD games in a nutshell, it's very fitting
I'm probably over-analyzing this, but it seemed too soft and definitely cheesy. I get that it's "Broadway-style," but it's sounds like the intro to fricking Baby Looney Tunes. The original has energy, something for preparing for a proper adventure.
>Yeah hello that will be 90 percent of your earnings plus tip plus our boss will give you no food if you frick up
Black person made me distrustful of the government and higher institutions
Did anyone ever conquer the Zero Isles dungeons in Explorers? Only did North myself, back in Time. Relatively easy condition, as the only rules to that dungeon was no recruits, and I believe no EXP. Otherwise, players were free to decimate it with their high level team of literally anyone.
Remember that Drifblim's Unburden in Explorers lets it act twice in one turn.
I will never forget. Does it still do that in Super?
>15 years ago thinking this game was for toddlers due to how Pokemon advertised it in the anime special
>Look at part of a playthrough and its a surprisingly well-made dungeon crawler
I missed out hard
>rock polish/agility now only affect travel speed
they fricked my homie geodude
>Threw my DS against the wall because I couldnt beat the time tower segment
Luckily it survived
is there a new switch games?
