Entry-level jobs, games background development etc.

generally big studios like DICE don't bother with "entry level" anything. if your goal was to work at DICE one day you'd have to
            >get at least a bachelor's degree (look up their job offerings to know which one for which positions) because big companies rely on moronic requirements to filter out a large number of applicants quickly, they get too many applications to hire smart
            >work on several (commercially released, "real") games over a span of at least 3 years before you apply
my immediate advice would be to not think too much about one day working at X or Y studio and instead make smaller goals like accomplishing one of these two requirements ASAP. then you can reconsider if you still want that shit. game development doesn't pay well compared to other tech jobs, there is a massive oversupply of talent because it's one of those artistic passion fields. that sort of applies to all media but video games are especially like that. and then if you do get the gig you will have zero creative control. maybe you don't want that any way, that's fine. just saying because most people who think about making games do want to have some impact on what kind of game is being made. at a company like DICE 99.9% of employees have ZERO creative impact, just working endless overtime doing what they're told by soulless ticket/task systems. you can see that in their products as well.

I'm not a dice dev but I worked several years for Avalanche studios, which is literally in front of Dice. I've been in there a lot of times and know a few people from there, drop your question and maybe I'll be able to answer. No guarantees of course.

Do you know how long the concept phase and the pre-prod phase general is for the BF titles?

And do they also work with EA's Game Changer program?

        Anonymous

it really depends on the game and on things like having to rework it after backlash like it happened with bfv, but as a rule of thumb, a few months before the release of the 1.0 of a game they're already pre-producing the sequel. After the release of a game they start development of the follow up right away, there's no time period where they do nothing. When a game is getting updated with expansions and balance patches, they are already super deep into development. I remember talking about the pacific expansion as it was coming out with the weapon designers and they were actively working on the gadgets of 2042, the game was already on the value balancing phase. That should give you a rough reference of how far they were already. It was before announcement, I'm sure.

No idea what the ea game changer program is, lemme ask to a friend who's still in EA

Regarding the QA phase for quality assurance, when does this actually take place, in the pre-prod phase or in the concept phase?

At some studios creating a prototype. Is that also the case at DICE or how do they determine the type of gameplay?

Do you think it's also possible to enter into a certain partnership with DICE itself, similar to a Influcener thing ?

Not directly with EA but with DICE in the form of marketing etc. (if necessary submit a business marketing plan for my partnership)

            >Regarding the QA phase for quality assurance, when does this actually take place, in the pre-prod phase or in the concept phase?

QA starts right away, they keep testing the game in every stage of development, the further they're into it the more intensive the testing become. Of course during pre-production it's very light, but even then they already collect and give feedback on design and data from the previous game

            >At some studios creating a prototype. Is that also the case at DICE or how do they determine the type of gameplay?

Yes they make prototypes, normally with the previous game as base. Then they build on top of it.

            >Do you think it's also possible to enter into a certain partnership with DICE itself, similar to a Influcener thing ?

Yes they frequently collab with influencers, the marketing department chooses them (ie trevor Noah and Pewdiepie) but sometimes the dev team asks for them. For example Ian of forgotten weapons helped, but as an expert, not as influencer. They're not open to you bothering them, is DICE choosing who to collab based on their popularity and/or skillset.

            >Not directly with EA but with DICE in the form of marketing etc. (if necessary submit a business marketing plan for my partnership)

They're not looking for them to come, they actively contact people. They're DICE, it's not like they need random kids to go to them, they contact people, and people obey.

What do you actually mean by the Battlefield reinterpretation?

Would you like to continue working in the industry or what would you recommend if someone asked you which makes more sense in tech or the game industry for a safe and pleasant job?

It would be best if I had someone in the gaming industry that I could talk to every now and then. I would like to put my Discord name/email there, but I don't know if anyone will respond to it and not use it as spam since it is Ganker.

                did I say that?

                >Would you like to continue working in the industry or what would you recommend if someone asked you which makes more sense in tech or the game industry for a safe and pleasant job?

frick yeah it's the best job ever. I especially like working for a big company because you barely do anything and games hit the market by inertia, at least at the managerial level where I'm currently at. I'd never trade it for a soul crushing office job, I'm literally making GAMES

                >It would be best if I had someone in the gaming industry that I could talk to every now and then. I would like to put my Discord name/email there, but I don't know if anyone will respond to it and not use it as spam since it is Ganker.

Hard pass, no offense, but does it sound like a worthwhile trade to you?

                >Whip the people who made the water in Just Cause 4. It looks worse than the water in JC2.

I don't work there anymore, but we knew it don't worry. JC 4 was a total fricking mess. We had planned a super long term dlc plan and it all got canned, squenix told us to frick off and left with the license. I don't even know where the license is now, I think Squenix sold it, but it has never been actually owned by Avalanche

Bot modes mandatory in all future Battlefield or potential Battlefront type games. PvP is cancer due to the newer generations of kids being gutter trash in terms of personality.
Even kidnap EA executives to make it happen.
