Outer Wilds
Some good point and click adventure games:
The Longest Journey, Syberia, Grim Fandango, The Neverhood
"Myst clones" (although not as good as myst):
Obduction, Quern
More vaguely similar games that are god tier:
Outer Wilds, Return of the Obra Dinn, La Mulana
This post pretty much sums it up. Neverhood, Outer Wilds and La Mulana are the best 3 options you have
Here you go, bro.
postal if point n click
Cyan still makes games. Obduction was really good for worldbuilding even though the puzzles sucked. Firmament is coming out this year.
Outer Wilds was a really good modern adventure game.
I've heard positive things about Quern.
Beyond adventure games, Rain World is absolutely unparalleled at immersing you into a foreign setting where the gameplay is all about building up your knowledge of the dynamic ecosystem and environment.
As a wildcard, Disco Elysium is a really well done but dialog-heavy take where you're an amnesiac thrust into a really complicated world and situation and piece together bits of what's going on and why.
the witness and outer wilds are far and away the best answers to your question
I don't think The Witness has the same appeal because the setting and narrative is just nothing.
it depends what exactly the appeal of myst was for OP, the witness and outer wilds cover all the angles and take those attributes further. i would ratger OP just try the games without me saying anything else about them because that will create the best experience
the witness and legend of grimrock 2
For something completely different from the other suggestions ITT, if you ignore the puzzle parts the game is similar to a walking simulator type game in terms of story. There are some good non-game games out there, like What Remains of Edith Finch or Dear Esther or Firewatch or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter where you pretty much just explore someplace and find stories in the world.
>500 remakes of Myst including full 3D, VR and CBT. best game remains forgotten.
it hurts so much.
Some of the puzzles in Riven get a bit too obscure for my taste. Myst had perfect puzzle difficulty.
I played them both recently. Myst is way too easy and short and the ending is one of the worst things I've ever seen, but Riven was mindblowing. Myst felt like a tech demo for Riven.
There is precisely one(1) puzzle in Riven that is actually bullshit and that is the wahrk elevator call button.
God, I wanna play Riven again now.
What's the definitive way to play myst? The original game?
I think the Spectrum Retreat captures the atmosphere of Myst and has a similar feeling to it.
They're called Mystemups and I really enjoyed picrel
Surprised no mention of RHEM.
