>Age of Empires 4
>Crusader Kings 3
>Civilization 6
It just means "new game" anon, don't you know old good new bad?
b-but that's an actual mobile game
Because mobile games look like soulless mass produced garbage, they are the generic flash game look of the today.
>soulless
subjective
>ugly
subjective
>matter of taste
only sane one on this board
>subjective
sure, but "mass produced" isn't. there's a whole modern design pipeline made to shit out games with no experimentation, no risks taken, just regurgitating gameplay that has already been created previously and not even trying to improve upon that. This is not subjective.
Never said that it wasn't a matter of taste, you and incellphone gamers just have shit taste.
>soulless
>subjective
Wrong. Soulless mean low effort aka "wagie did wagie work". Conveyer belt vs. handmade is good example of IRL soulless vs. soul. This is why AAA games are forever soulless, they are manufactured by marketing teams and executed by lowest paid coders - none of them gives a single frick about what they do.
Same with OP, game look like someone followed guide on how to make cheap/fast game, no desire to improvise or go above what guide say.
homosexual
>Why is it a bad thing?
blocky, huge models, small worlds, too colorful
basically it looks ugly
high saturation, low contrast, simplified shapes
graphics designed so things are visible and clear on small screens
>why is it bad
it's a matter of taste. i don't care either way
Looks uninspiring and tasteless, like the graphic desginers didn't care. It's the least amount of effort while still keeping it babby friendly.
>inb4 subjective
yes.
mobile game = simplified
looks like mobile game = looks simplified compared to it's contemporaries = looks less strategical compared to it's contemporaries = looks less fun compared to it's contemporaries
Prejudice. Phones are considered inferior gaming devices because that's not their intended purpose. The same sentiment applies to personal computers.
Imagine if you paid $100 for a flight sim and it looked like flappy bird. That's what it means fricking braindead idiot.
its a bad thing because people dont like it. nobody said that it has to be a bad thing for you
Free thought is a bad thing though. The world works better the less divergent others' thoughts are from mines. As a baseline I'm already a peak being.
>Why is it a bad thing?
Soulless, flat and generic hammered by underpaid Asians in sweatshops.
I think it's a qualificative that's overused and used abusively. But it's sometimes true.
oh dont let the shitty blur mobile graphics fool you, game is a massive resource hog and will take ages to load maps and make your gpu fans go ape shit.
>looks like a mobile game
>What does this even mean?
Stop asking questions and just enjoy life and games.
I cannot enjoy anything if a single anon on any board on Ganker dislikes it. They have to change their mind first
exquisite taste. Who is your favorite?
Yădakk, I've always been a fan of roads... I just wish there was more in terms of trade mechanics
Also, did you know the Dec is making a top down open world version of Polytopia? It's early, but looks alright.
Mine's any of the special Tribes except for Aquarion until they get their remake. As Tritons and Crabs are not good enough to justify being the only Tribe to start without a technology. Maybe starting with Writing would fix it? 15% research cost reduction to signify being an already advanced civilization that fell from grace but still retains some knowledge? It could be too powerfull of a start or mean nothing at all...
Would diplomacy make the game better or kill it?
Diplomacy was just added in the newest update.
Really? I guess it's gonna become my go-to time killer again now
fisher price vidya
What game is this?
Battle of Polytopia. Singleplayer is free on smartphones, multiplayer is a one-time purchase. But it's relevant to this thread because it's also a PC game on Steam. So how do we classify it? By which metrics do we judge it?
It's a mobile game
all the intricate details stripped out to make it less painful on the eyes of some moron zoomer sitting on a train or in bed in the dark with the phone 5 inches away from their face, i guess
it looks like shit
When devs simplify visuals by default, that's mobile graphics.
When players simplify visuals via mods, e.g. small trees, that's QoL enhancement.
>simplify visuals
>small trees
Small trees are not simplified visuals, the trees look the same they are just smaller, the cube mod however I cannot forgive.
"mobile style" evokes the same distinct fear of being controlled and feeling of oppression as corporate art.
Its soulless but expressive.
An aesthetic can deliver a message. For example, if a game has the aesthetics of a mobile game, it delivers a message of limited game mechanics compensated for by aggressive monetization.
