Hopefully the focus on Aqshy will introduce something native to the realm that can make me interested in it.

No wonder people avoid your thread OP
Played in an unusual game due to a friend visiting. 6,000 vs 6,000, Skaven vs an alliance of Sylvaneth, Seraphon, Troggs, Flesh-Eaters, and Mawtribes. Very slapdash, we played it all on a friend's billiards table with very little terrain; it was mostly an excuse to do something with the friend.
does splatter-cleaver activate on the mortal wounds given from a tyrants thundermace?
Yes
source on that chief?
Mortal wounds caused by an attack are in fact wounds allocated by an attack. Read core rules, specifically wound allocation, damage, and mortal wounds.
nice, the second part of 14.5 makes it very clear cut that it should work
What are some fun elite armies? I don't have a lot of space for a new army but I still want to paint something new and possibly large since my last painted army was CoS and painting their tiny heads was a pain
Maggotkin mortals
almost every army in the game can run elite, what catches your eye?
Stormcast, Sylvaneth, Slaanesh or something in Destruction since I'd like an army there except for Behemat, I don't like their sculpts
I don't mind old sculpts and I really like water, pirate or monster-themed shit but Idoneth seem weird and are permanently out of stock at my lgs
Maggotkin are kind of pirates, but uh...not the conventional kind.
Gloomspite gitz can run an entire army of trolls, so there is your monster theme if maggotkins range doesnt tickle your fancy.
kinda funny that the only piracy-themed army is getting squatted when 4E drops
they're squatting khararon?
With the mentions of maggotkin, would any anon happen to be knowledgeable in regards to maggotkin mortals and give me a QRD?
The completion of my first army (gitz) is approaching quickly if I keep up my pace and nurgle mortals (esp blightkings and sorcerers) have always caught my eye. Do they just slowly creep up taking hits until they get stuck in and whittle enemies down? Is summoning essential? I heard they're forgiving for scrubs and blightkings are some of the coolest sculpts I've ever seen.
also share any tips for getting extra models from 1 box of blightkings
I heard plaguebringers are OP and i want to get their vanguard box cause it seems very good. I'm not in the market for a GUO. But all this might go out the window if Ironjawz get a christmas box as they should
>supposedly pirates/raiders
>well equipped and wealthy order army
what exactly do they raid? I'm not familiar with their lore. KO tend to be the "oh yeah forgot they're here" faction for me.
also no, KO aren't being squatted if you're being serious. he meant ogors since ppl like to troll and say they're being squatted cause they have the next oldest range
stormcast with dragon riders, Krondys and karazai are like 500 pts each and that one angel b***h is 250, or Ogors with beastlords and beastriders on stonehorns (hopefully the thundertusks stop being ass in 4th). ogors themselves are just elite inherently. the vanguard box is about 900 points I think
>what exactly do they raid? I'm not familiar with their lore.
Who do real pirats raid? Other ships
>Akshually....
Pirates raided mainly coastal settements
>what exactly do they raid?
could be anything. kharadron are somewhere between legitimate navy, mercenary army for hire, realm traveling merchant caravan, and outright pirates and it varies wildly based on the skyfleet, and they very much have the pirates of the carribean them of "the pirates code, but its more like guidelines". they even have a model dedicated specifically to finding loopholes in their code mid fight so they can get away with some untowards nonsense without """technically""" breaking their code.
and no, i wasnt serious about them squatting kharadron. i just found it funny that in a discussion about "the only piracy themed army" no one mentions the actual army of black market mercenaries with flying pirate ships.
>the actual army of black market mercenaries with flying pirate ships.
As other anons have said another KO wave leaning into this would be a great way to spotlight a bunch of minor factions by way of mercenaries, like the Sslyth for Dark Eldar.
Pity it probably won't happen.
The thing about age of sigmar is that the lore is loose enough that you can just do that.
Make a force of piratical renegade kharadron? Not a problem
Grotbag scuttlers conversion army? Checks out
Group of human pirates who either stole or bought a small flotilla of ko vessels and use them to sail the seve skies? Fine
This isn't 40k. No one's gonna get assblasted if your knight is a woman or you put the heraldry on the wrong side of the model. Creativity and custom projects are encouraged
i know several people have done skaven themed kharadron
Either ogors or dark elves
Ogors are probably your best bet for destruction because of how viable monster mash is for them, and they've even got a pirate UW warband who'd just be a great foot hero even if the rules for them went to legacy
Bonereapers have options for strong elite army lists and don't require masterwork painting skills. Slap some contrast and you're done
FEC/Maggotkin/StD. Yes I play all of them, yes they are superior to other suggestions.
Oops all annihilators.
Tyranids are probably going to be the cheapest army to collect this edition, so maybe keep an eye on it if you really care about playing/finding games.
That being said, Seraphon are naturally cheap to collect thanks to the both it's current vanguard box, and the nature of AOS.
4th may change that so just keep an eye on the current vanguard until the first month of 4e.
I'm doing a 5000pt game on saturday, how long can I expect a game of that size to take? 5 hours?
Probably more
Probably going to take full day to play out.
Bring some movement trays
Watchu playing?
One last ride for my Sacrosanct Stormcast (plus some thunderstrike to reach 5k)
Opponent is bringing Sylvaneth.
I see thank you.
Oooh, nice. Mind sharing any pics with us?
I offer some Chaos Warrior WIPS in return
Cool warriors anon.
Here's a good chunk of what I'm bringing, I'll post pics of the battle here this weekend.
>oops all sacrosanct
I'm sorry for your loss.
Thank you.
I'm in the anger stage of grief right now, I plan on not buying 4ths dominion equivalent, and proxying any sacrosanct as the new stuff.
We'll see how my resolve holds up when they show more models.
2000pt games can often take up to 5 hours already so id say you should probably plan around 7-8 hours
I and those I play with must play pretty quickly as it's rare for my games to reach 4 hours.
I did have an 8 hour 2k game against some guy who had hundreds of gobbos once, that was fricking exhausting.
Bonesplitterz are probably getting refreshed, as an expansion to Ironjawz in the vein of the !Bonesplitterz Weird brute's aesthetic/fluff. Even if it's just a new shaman, maybe mounted, and a ragerz style hero.
BoC might get refreshed, Gavespawn have always dominated the fluff and art always showed a different take on minotaurs. I'd expect Gavespawn Brayherds with Morghur and a Bloodherd subfaction; no drogres. It'd fit a Kurnothi versus box and Wanderers are in a similar squatted situation
I don't think Beasts of Chaos are getting refreshed per se, but I could see the concept of "Undivided Beastmen" being revived in Slaves to Darkness down the line, much like Slaangors with Hedonites and Tzaangors with Disciples of Tzeentch.

so not counting releases that consist in just one hero or kit, we have roughly 9 significant waves to look forward per edition, with that and in mind our big waves for the edition I think will be the following
>order releases:
SCE, COS, FS
>elf releases:
umbraneth
>death releases:
OBR
>destr releases:
GSG, OM
>chaos releases:
SK, chorfs
The Hurricanum hasn't been shown but I doubt it's staying if it's full of KF references and the war altar shares the base. Probably just squatted
that kit is not a priority for either aos or tow, I don't think one writing that's easy to file away is reason for concern
But the same isn't true of the griffon?
the griffon is a priority for tow and featured in their rulebook too
plus GW likely wants you to buy thalia rather than the griffon
B-but what about Idoneth?
idk
pity hero, warcry stuff and some end-campaign centerpiece are the most optimistic things I can see for them
What do you think Idoneth need?
Actual Thral hero would be nice, but Thralmaster basicaly stole that niche mechanically. I guess named thral would be distinct enough
So you'd be happy with just the pity hero?
Want and need are different things
Snail objective markers.
Myrmidon style elite infantry maybe? ( Like Fuirann)
Embailor with a bunch of Angry Animals ( Crabs, Cephalopods or something) or
mounted on some kind of animal (Squid or a barracuda) that buffs mount attacks given how skewed we are from infantry atm.
Re-sculpt of Soulscryer on 40mm so I can use Lorai in tournament.
Prince Lurien on "Black Dragon"
New Kharibdyss or a Tidecaster on mount.
>so not counting releases that consist in just one hero or kit, we have roughly 9 significant waves to look forward per edition, with that and in mind our big waves for the edition I think will be the following

you're going from dom to sub

You're forgetting about how weird things got in 2021 and 2022.
We got an army a month in Spring 2021 then after the Stormcast and Kruleboy releases in the summer AoS just stopped for more than a year.
Other than the very small Sylvaneth and Nighthaunt releases 2022 was literally only pity heroes
Since the battletomes are all going to be online, are there going to be pity heroes this edition?
If so, how will plan to GW sell them?
4e will have battletomes like every edition, there's just a lazy index for everything at launch
See 40k
Ah, I am moronic I see.
>See pic rel
You wish they were going to pure digital rules. No, GW will continue selling printed products until people stop paying for rules.
>skavengay is moronic
of course
>battletomes are all going to be online
As I understood it we'll just see AoS do like 40k. The "faction packs" will be available at launch and will give you the tools to play an army, but then those are likely to get supplanted and taken down once battletomes are released, and no digital editions will be made for battletomes.
Bought the new CoS spearhead last week, with the success of TOW am I about to get squatted? Am I keked?
yes, you need to buy all special characters and brown pigments or else
but if I don't make them brown, are they tournament legal?
idk I haven't been following it closely, I just heard that it did far better than GW were expecting and that the "scope has increased"
>success
>ToW
HAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
you mean the game that just cancelled the 2 armies used to announce it? that old world? the game thats so desperate for sales its waging an internal civil war just to pad its accounting sheets? that old world?
Delusional
How so?
Because I have disposable income and I am a human supremacist and I will paint every single model with white skin.
>I am a human supremacist and I will paint every single model with white skin.
Based, personally I like painting the odd unit sun kissed every here and there but only when it seems fun.
Having mixed race units in CoS makes sense since the cities themselves are made up distant and scattered tribes all brought together.
Mixed race dark oath makes zero sense since they're suppsoed to be long standing clans made up of distinct cultures and families.
aye I can adhere to that
Can I ask why you bought the spearhead box
Why wouldn't you?
I'm brand new and wanting to start a cities army but not sure where to begin. I like all the new sculpts/models/castellite stuff
It looks like an ai generated image.
its a book cover anon.
What should I do with the warlocks in Krethusa's box?
Sell them?
Build them as dark riders?
why would you not build them as warlocks? arent warlocks her whole theme?
New rat ogors will be unveiled today. Believe it.

THE WHITE DWARF IS REAL
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/04/22/grombrindal-returns-to-the-mortal-realms-to-celebrate-the-500th-issue-of-white-dwarf/
Kickass model
>Legends Rules
I guess they have to, since he's a FOMO model, but they could just...not make him FOMO, yknow?
Use him as Gotrek
Nice. I actually like him in the second AoS Gotrek audiobook a lot, glad he finally gets a real model and not a fricking repainted slayer.
Fricking god damn it. So he isn't even a real character with any planned narrative.
Grombrindal is straight up a character in the AoS Gotrek books, although he is in disguise.
I'm just mad they did the whole sagas short-story collection, had Grugni show up in BR Be'lakor, and now Grombrindal has a model -but it doesn't mean anything in the end.
maybe he WAS meant to mean something until TOW changed plans for the dispossessed plastic kits and the whole idea was scrapped
It was around the same time of kragnos and people already speculate he was the result of some other scrapped thing for beasts getting repurposed
The kragnos idea was just some shitpost sourced from this very general.
Stop being moronic.
>Cursed City rules
why?
GW has been doing this a lot of character recently for some reason
Encourage stock clearance before it goes oop?
>So he isn't even a real character with any planned narrative.
He was given a new body by Grungni and now travels the many places of the Mortal Realms, helping duardins whereever he can.
And they've done nothing with him, moved all dwarfs to TOW and they will be dropped from the game next update just like wanderers. Fricking awful.
All of the good dwarf models are still in AoS and they basically "returned" in BR Be'lakor so it's not crazy to think we're getting another dwarf army. Although they seem to have made a lot of last minute decisions with old world so it's impossible to predict any of this shit anymore
>All of the good dwarf models are still in AoS
I don't expect them to continue being used in AoS after BoC. Let alone getting a reimagined dwarf faction that doesn't look like ass and completely misses the appeal of the original, like it happened with the high elves.
> Although they seem to have made a lot of last minute decisions with old world so it's impossible to predict any of this shit anymore
Exactly. They also made a ton of plot hooks for BoC that now don't matter.
I like it. Something went right.
Where's the Fyreslayers and KO decorations?
They don't fricking exist, he is drabbed from head to toe in his old WHFB Dwarf (dispossessed) gear.
They're just calling the dispossessed bling "KO and FS decorations".
he got a compass but thats pretty much it
Or you're a dumb no models tertiary who can't tell any of the AoS dwarf design language because you've never seen a peep of it irl.
I have the KO VS Tzeentch box from 2nd ed. But I also have 3.4k points of old WHFB dwarfs.
This anon
has it right.
>I have a box of models I never put together so I can't see the ornamentation that was literally CAD ripped from KO and Fyreslayers
Of course Grombrindal is going to be wearing his classic armor and cape under it. The fact that you even question that makes me think you can't even name his magic items that haven't changed since the 80s.
What the frick are you talking about now? I didn't see any AoS stuff on the actual dwarf, but I was proven wrong so I corrected myself.
>The fact that you even question that makes me think you can't even name his magic items that haven't changed since the 80s.
The fact that I question what`What are you talking about?
Also, he's missing his helm of Zhufbar.
He’s never had his helmet modeled on his head since the George Bush Sr administrator
KO Compass and Fyreslayer Rune on his axe.
Don't forget the giant face of Grimnir on his belt.
it's just a dwarfen face, nothing grimnir about it, unless you want to tell me all kharadrons have the face of grimnir on their ships and masks too
Some do, they mostly have Grungi's face though.
You can tell because Grimnir's beard is straight and Grungi's is curved a lot.
they must mean these
easy to miss or mistake for just random dwarfen decorations
they could have put more effort in showing how he took many guises, like a kharadron mask strapped on the belt and magmadroth hide instead of the fur on the cape or some keys
yeah that compass is on pretty much every KO infantry model, and those beard dongles are straight off the runemaster model
It's a grogshit mini with aos trinkets sprinkled on it. I can't believe you guys are actually okay with this shit when we missed out on what could have been a new fyreslayer/kharadron mini.
Its a limited whitedwarf fomo mini, noone really cares
Becouse it's the white dwarf, a miniature that comes from fantasy. I don't see any problem if he is a fantasy stile minis with aos coat...he is literally a relic that lived in bith settings
Is this the future of AoS? What are clearly WHFB models being sold as "for the mortal realms"?
>standing on a bloodreaver helmet and a kruleboy shield
>Has fyreslayer and KO accessories hanging on all over him
>WHFB
It's a fricking WHFB model.
>say moronic opinion
>get utterly, 100% btfo
>say moronic opinion again but put fricking in front of it
Die alone Ben. I will pour acetone on your models next time I see you.
In what way is it whfb? Its covered in AoS I think you should go cry in wfg you'll find it a nicer experience
It's not and now go back to your containment general. I'll see you there in a minute.
I love the "restating thesis" method of dumbfrick moron argumentation
>Legends
Just like Dispossessed
Shame it's just a commemorative thing because they hinted at the white dwarf returning, though I guess the parallel of bael grimnir is a thing too.
Rip Dispossessed, it's a nicely timed send off for them I guess. Gotrek proxy or counter as something similarly powerful that CoS can take like the Celestant Prime
I dont think Gotrek will go away with the rest of the dispossesed
*proxy the white dwarf as Gotrek
What's the point if you can't run both him AND gotrek
run the white dwarf as a runefather or an admiral instead
I want them to be in the same team whenever gotrek gets the same treatment as callis&toll, the blacktalons and the gunnar family
>the monday miniature reveal is a legends gimmick model
aiyeeeee
no, it's a rat
Confirmation of Dispossesed going the way of the goat.
Did anyone actually think otherwise?
no
>Release a new model clearly using the Dispossessed aesthetics
>Kill off Dispossessed model range
>Don't give him rules for a game system where he can look like the other dwarfs instead give him half baked rules that'll be cut in a year
What
Sasuga GW-sama.
He is a FOMO mini
No need to give long-term support to something most players will never own
Reminder that the 40th anniversary Grombrindal model was the first tease at Primaris marines (he's wearing MkX armour), so this one could very well be a tease at Dispossessed.
Now this is Maximum quality COPIUM, folks.
I didn't say it was gonna happen. I said it's possible. I frankly don't think they're coming.
>so this one could very well be a tease at Dispossessed.
But all his "teases" are just refrences to KO anf Fyreslayers
>tease at Dispossessed.
Anon, Dispossesed are getting squatted just like dark elves.
CoS will be fantasy imperial guard, just humans with some lesser races sprinkled in, because humans are what sells supposedly.
Maybe if they didn't strip the dwarves of their identity and made two one-note armies based on two aspects of WHFB dwarves, they would see more interest in the short kings.
see
To be frank, that post was more about "Hey, I know this trivia about the 40th anniversary model" more than actual statement about Dispossessed.
Neat but his base is obnoxious and it's not good for kitbashing so not buying
>so not buying
We're all so sad :l
So is he supposed to be an AoS grom or old world grom? Or is it just another schizo grom release?
He has direct refrences to AoS menlet armies and had an art with both of them announcing him
aos grom
grom as an unforged is one of those weird decisions that went nowhere and were never referenced by any novel or story where he featured, so that one is the schizo if anything, although he did his fair share of ripping and tearing so maybe he started his aos journey as a madman
As of now this is what GW has decided he looks like in AoS.
I FRICKING LOVE this bit of art. It's so good!
Did the warlock engineer ever cast outside warp lightning in fantasy? I don't deal with many rats and never have. I know you could buy it a rifle though, so maybe they're returning to formula in a sense.
It's very regal without him being over done. No super flashy pose, armor, or weapon, but you can still tell he's an important individual and seasoned warrior demanding respect.
>Did the warlock engineer ever cast outside warp lightning in fantasy? I don't deal with many rats and never have. I know you could buy it a rifle though, so maybe they're returning to formula in a sense.
Yeah, he does rn lol
In TOW they can know battle magic and elementalism
A little tweaked from the design seen on the cover of Chronicles of the Wanderer, but still recognizably the same character.
Why do they insist on making this stupid meme character actually exist in the setting it annoys the frick out of me
tradition, he's a beloved mascot AND a now long-standing important character in warhammer dwarfs' mythos
the real question is whether he canonically has 4th-wall breaking knowledge of all the shit he's done and seen and places he's been, or the humorous miniatures and blood bowl appearance are just that
When they say "alongside" white dwarf does that mean I have to throw away money on that worthless magazine or can I just buy him
I assume they mean the magazine and the model will be two concurrent releases, not that they will be sold as a bundle.
Why do they roll so well?
Idk
How are IDK to play these days? Got an army of them NoS for ridiculously cheap and I do like the models.
I'm more wondering about their playstyle than necessarily how competitive they are.
Tempo based, you are strongest on turn 3, so you have to control the game in order to make use of that fact.
Your stuff packs a punch but can't really take one.
>two thread questions
>no subject
What the frick is this thread.
New nerd just dropped
Nice model. Interesting that he comes with a rifle now.
That's significantly less crazy looking than I thought it would be. Pretty tame tech-wise, no?
>video unavailable
Guess with the rifle and spy glass they've fully committed to him being stapled to the warp lightning canon. It's nice, but it feels like it's missing something. Hope it has multiple sculpts or options.
I expet him to be shoped into some memes becuase of the telescope and see no relevance outside of that
Surprisingly tame looking, practically civilized. I can see him sitting at a little table sipping tea, attended by a skavenslave in a ratty suit, casually surveying the pile of man-thing corpses from his latest expedition.
rat bros whats your verdict?
Paintjob is boring, but cute rat on shoulder and the sculpt seems cool
Very different in tone and appearance to the older engineers. Not really getting magic user vibes from this either. In fact the only thing really trying it to any of the older designs is the backpack element.
I think they may be taking away the magic and making more-more warp power a warscroll card and fully committing to his roll as warp lightning canon baby sitter while giving him a way to also attack from that back position now. Might also be good with jezzails.
Why does a skryre unit have the verminous head Crest? Are they removing their ability to cast? Nothing really wizard about this one. Article isn't up yet either.
He seems tall as frick even for a hq, but I do like it. He seems more calm and reasonable than the usual skaven and I don't mind it for a support artillery piece
Does he have a mechanical right leg?
Certainly looks like it, yes
this is literally "just use the crewman from the WLC as your engineer" tier. lame as frick
That's great. That makes the plague catapult and warp lightning cannon a duel build kit that's also a value combo box.
I liked more the old one, looks more menacing, this dude looks like a skaven scholar
Better in every conceivable way
it's not that much different
a little added crispness on the fur and a different equipment
Silly and crazy
Calculating and less silly
The duality of vermin
I don't know about that. I like the sculpted fur better on the new warlock. And the little accessories like clawed gloves are nice. The pose is less dynamic, but it's also less "compact". I think it might be easier to convert it since the arms are more clearly separated from the torso. And it doesn't have those dynamic smoke and lightning effects, which is nice at least to me personally, because I really don't like to see those sculpted on a model.
It's not bad but I'm probably gonna stick with these dirty little freaks who work out at the gym and the library
>rat loading shot into the pistol
SOVL...
I'm sorry james but I'm not paying 60$ for 3 bladeguard, 3 eradicators, and 3 eightbound. frick off
It's up.
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/04/22/skaven-warlock-engineer-fuse-magic-and-technology-with-this-rodent-researcher-from-the-clans-skryre/
I sleep, lemme know they show off something like an ogre or something else more generic.
They stole his magic.
I think we can expect Skryre to lose all their magic flair.
That would fricking suck. Warp Lightning is, to me, completely tied to the Skryre identity.
Same. Idk. Sucks. It's my favourite spell in the game.
Grimderp secondary. Even Mordheim had Skryre/Eshin/Moulder
>The Skaven have combined vile magic with cursed artifice since their earliest days, and the techno-arcanists of the Clans Skryre have been busy in the Age of Sigmar.
>Archanist
>Magic
arE TheY geTTinG rID of mAgIC?!
READ homie, READ
man, you're moronic, people are talking about rules, Black person
Show me where that rules sheet says the model can cast spells
Damn dude, it must be hard being this dense
??????????
The model isn't a wizard anymore. No one is talking about the fluff of the technology being magical; that's not what that poster was saying.
>I think we can expect Skryre to lose all their magic flair.
He's talking about casting spells like warp lightning and m-m-m-wp you fricking imbecile
Yeah, I was talking about spells not the lore.
That anon is being an idiot on purpose. I don't wanna cast gun like 10th ed yknow. Every hero a mage was kinda the best less obvious part of Skryre.
He means that this hero is not a caster, the other, the bombardier will probably be a caster since shrike still uses magic.
I am going to laugh very hard when the bombardier also loses his wizard tag, becomes hyper specific too, and the only skryre caster left is the arch warlock which will remain over costed.
>the other, the bombardier will probably be a caster since shrike still uses magic.
I doubt it, the Bomardier will probably just be an artillery support model. The ArchWarlock equivalent MIGHT be a caster, if this is the direction they are taking Skyre in.
>Guarded Hero keyword isn't bold but plaintext quotations
Man, GW are so fricking terrible
So non-magical and supports jezzails instead of artillery, he's been demoted from a Skyre staple to a much more niche HQ choice.
Bombardier will probably become the one who babysits the cannon
Guess we know why the Arch Warlock was revealed to be getting a new sculpt now. I guess he'll keep the magic while the engineer will be relegated to just jezzails and I assume artillery which the artillery will have the engineer check on their scrolls like now.
They might actually give more-more warp power by default to anything that can shoot now even...
>le whacky techno reddit rats
God I hate this shit, let Kings of War keep it and move to mono-pestilens
>mono-pestilens
Look guys, we found the only person in the world who gives a shit about pestilence
He doesn't, he's a secondary.
You don't play rats so why are you commenting on them
you know that nurgle is already an army right
Making Jezzails ignore Look Out Sir is gonna be so infruating. Frick these op rats.
Okay, I don't like this. All of my Warlock Engineers now do nothing if I don't have Jezzails? They don't even have Warp Lightning anymore!?!?
warp lightning cannons have engineer rules on them in the current edition moron. They're clearly positioning the engineer to be the back line hero to maintain your jezzails and warp lightning cannons, possibly the new ratling cannon thing. The Arch Warlock, which we know will be returning via whitefang leaks, will likely keep his wizard tag and be a more forward operating caster who's hardier and paired with stormfiends, weapon crews, etc.
>warp lightning cannons have engineer rules on them in the current edition moron.
I didn't say anything about WLCs, you schizo. I have three of these frickers, what am I supposed to do with them now? They aren't even casters, so I can't use them for Endless Spells, like I did before.
You're supposed to either convert them to a different hero and/or eat shit and break down crying at the injustice, your choice rat man.
yeah its lame, but on its own ignoring look out sir is super strong.
I don't give a shit. I don't even own jezzails. Why would they completely change the unit instead of just making a different jezzail hero?
Mine have little tiny pistols, not long rifles.
He is very good with those pistols. We really do not need more hyper specific heroes.
>We really do not need more hyper specific heroes.
You mean like the one they just fricking turned a generalist unit into? Are you insane?
I mean no more new models that do 1 thing only. We have enough hero scrolls, even too many for engineers. He will be shooty and support war machines, while the other will probably be a mage and support more short ranged stuff
>I mean no more new models that do 1 thing only.
YOU MEAN LIKE THE ONE THEY JUST TURNED WARLOCK ENGINEERS INTO
>and support war machines
You are pulling this out of your ass.
Currently the war machines have the ability to be supported on their scroll, not on the engineer
>machines
Why are you pluralizing when it's literally just the WLC
Since we may get more I suppose. It came natural.
Yes, and if they are changing up Skyre to the point that your basic Warlock engineer isn't even a caster there's no particular reason to expect that to remain. The cannon will most likely either empower itself or the ability will be shifted to a hero scroll that also allows you to take WLK's as part of his detachment.
Same reason why they made the one with the rocket launcher a separate scroll instead of a wargear option.
Because they didn't want to print two separate overcharge rules in the same datasheet
Then make overcharge an army USR in the faction battle traits like god intended. It worked for seraphon bites.
Deathstars still happen and will happen as long as heroes buff units. Keeping them separate just makes moving, charging and fighting alongside the unit they are buffing a lot clunkier for no reason. And if you're afraid of deathstars just make challenges a thing again.
>Then make overcharge an army USR in the faction battle traits
That wouldn't have worked because the doomrocket overcharge operated differently from the warp energy blade overcharge
We are talking about the past here, mind
I guess, but having heroes able to move, go away, change the unit they buff or solo charge if needes makes them way more dynamic. Having them hidden in a unit makes either them just a passive buff that could've have been a modeless upgrade or the unit becomes just a pile of ablatives wounds
You can have that and also allow them to join a unit. That's how it worked for decades.
Has it ever worked well in WHFB? Honest question, I only have experience of it from 40k and it was always (or at least since 5th) a shitshow
It worked way better in Fantasy imo
Yes, because lone heroes were vulnerable unless you used them correctly, normally with good mounts or flying. Heroes inside units weren't overpowered by being untargetable because they were balanced by challenges. If you accept the challenge, you risk the hero dying but if you refuse the challenge, the hero basically doesn't exist for that turn, no buffs, no magic and no combat.
>yeah they fricked over your army but it's really strong now if you take units you don't want!!!
oh so this shit is starting already huh
It'll really kick into high gear with the indexes start rolling out and we see how much they fricked over most armies and units.
You said you already take lots of engineers though
I'm not that anon, but come on now. Everyone who played Skyre/Skaven took lots of Engineers because they were generalist mage-heroes who also handed out buffs to Skyre units. That generalist now got turned into a model that you ONLY take if you are pairing him with Jezzails, he has no other reason to exist.
Furthermore, people have not yet internalized that this is the direction 4E is taking overall. Using most units will be gatekept by needing to take specific heroes who will have no other real purpose except unlocking+buffing a specific unit.
>Everyone who played Skyre/Skaven took lots of Engineers because they were generalist mage-heroes who also handed out buffs to Skyre units. That generalist now got turned into a model that you ONLY take if you are pairing him with Jezzails, he has no other reason to exist.
this
more like one engineer usually because seers were better in every way by a mile.
I own three warlock engineers, one warlock bombardier, and an arch-warlock. I own no grey seers.
They all aren't the new models, I'm sure you'll find something to run them as.
>Using most units will be gatekept by needing to take specific heroes who will have no other real purpose except unlocking+buffing a specific unit.
I think that's cool but I also feel like this doesn't require taking away magic from warlocks.
>you ONLY take if you are pairing him with Jezzails, he has no other reason to exist.
He has a strong shooting attack, pew pew
It's not nearly good enough to take him on his own, especially in the context of 4E army building rules where you are limited to 5 heroes and detachments are everything.
its a one of, only one of them can ignore los a turn.
>Using most units will be gatekept by needing to take specific heroes who will have no other real purpose except unlocking+buffing a specific unit.
I mean, ok? I don't really see this as bad
If you expected them to not change around roles and unit identity that's on you.
I expected it a little bit. I didn't expect "your wizard is no longer a fricking wizard"! I don't expect that to fricking change. What's next, the fricking Plague Priest won't be able to chant prayers?
They squatted plague priests, so no they won't be chanting prayers.
I never liked warp power, I never liked sparks. Skaven being slaved to 6 heroes in literally every single build was always lame. More than half of your skryre's units output being tied to the engineers was lame.
How is this a defense of a WARLOCK not being able to cast spells?
because their damage can go on their scroll instead of mmwp and sparks obviously.
Are you stupid? I'm not asking "why did they get rid of MMMWP", I'm asking "why is it not a fricking wizard anymore". What if I want to cast Warp Lightning? What if I want to summon an Endless Spell, like, say, Warp Lightning Vortex?
No one cares about your whining dude, we on Ganker didn't change the scroll. Its done now, deal with it. They gave him a strong gun instead.
Skaven didn't need another engineer with a strong gun. They already have one.
Well it looks like you're getting three flavors then
They go pew pew.
You can use them to go pew pew.
They will probably also still buff war machines.
run them as some other skryre hero, that's not going to be the only one
>warlock engineer
>no longer a warlock, no spellcasting
>no longer an engineer, no interaction with warmachines
what
See
he casts gun
calling it now; Warlock Bombardier buffs the Warp Lightning Cannon like the Engineer buffs the Jezzails
Probably, keep in mind 4E is built around detachments, so "Hero+unit he buffs" are literal army building blocks now rather than just good advice.
>heroes can't join units
Whack. If there was something they had to copy from 40k it was that.
some factions just don't have enough to do that.
What? That's irrelevant to being able to attach heroes to units. Do you think there's 10 unique heroes in 40k in each army?
>
>Probably, keep in mind 4E is built around detachments, so "Hero+unit he buffs" are literal army building blocks now rather than just good advice.
Space marines got way more
More what? The typical space marine list doesn't have 7 different characters all leading units. It doesn't even have more than 3 and only when they use 3 techmarines.
Please no. Having heroes hidden in units during melee is fricking atrocious and it makes every hero just a buff, deathstar unit enabler or useless.
>buff, deathstar unit enabler or useless.
that's still what they do anon, look at gitz heroes. GW has never figured out "what are heroes for" fundamentally.
>no warp lightning (or any spells at all); not a warlock
>no interaction with war machines or weapons teams; not an engineer
>overcharge is low-risk, low-reward — the opposite of what skryre should be
>only buffs one specific unit
This is the definition of "in name only". This has completely soured my opinion on 4e, unless they do that shit they sometimes do in 40k where they bring back the old version of a model under a different name.
is low-risk, low-reward — the opposite of what skryre should be
I'm surprised no one else has complained about this
Isn't the appeal of Skryre that you're going big or going home
On thier artillery, sure. If the hero instagibs the moment they shoot it would suck and a single hero can't have a billion damage. It's enough that you can oneshot another hero.
It should still be a possibility. Right now, the Arch-Warlock can do up to 12 MW to himself if he miscasts his spell, and he can deal 9 MW to himself if he gets really unlucky swinging his glaive.
And no one used them because despite being duel casters with access to the best natural saves skaven have to offer he still wasn't worth the points because of that. Grey seer was a a cheaper double caster with better lore and clan mechanics and as a melee blender he was mediocre at best and that's all if he didn't kill himself.
Glass hammers are fine, but the arch needs a top to bottom looking at to find him a role he can actually be played in and ideally not step on the toes of another.
I think we're going to see some big reshuffles in skaven especially for clans and how they work.
>soulless bugman tourneygay speak
don't care
I use him because he's a rat in power armour with a flamethrower and power glaive who makes a big boom with his magic
Oh, and the power klaw; how could I forget the power klaw
The bombardier is D3 mortal wounds to yourself as well, but I guess that's appropriate since that's a big explosive thing while these are just "bullets". I don't mind it, but I also expect the bombardier to have its self damage reduced as well in order to standardize some of their mechanics. This would suck for flavor, but if the bombardier gets to be a cheap skryre caster unit it might work out.
Ever since femstodes now I'm noticing things
They dont ever once use the term 'his' when referring to his abilities, only 'its' I bet this is why Look out Sir! Is gone also. This edition will make female skaven a reality and no longer just broodmothers
moron ALLERT! moron ALERT! moron ALERT!
It's a rat.
Man, the femstodes as so fricking stupid. It reminds me why I grew to hate 40k a few years back.
The big problem is that female custodes could've very easily been a thing in the fluff since there's never any reason given for why they couldn't make one unlike space marines. They not only chose not to make any for decades but then gave custodes a female subfaction with the sisters, and then proceeded to not expand upon them for no apparent reason
40k deserve such shit on. The worst fanbase of all wargames.
Mindbroken by a single paragraph in a different setting. Men today lmao, so fkn sad. And y'all chuds dare call your enemies weak/fragile and shit yet you're almost committing sudoku over this bs. Lol. Lmao.
I'm surprised someone who is so clearly moronic was able to actually type that out.
Did you have your carer type it for you?
Post minis secondary
You spastic morons were saying the same fricking thing when the grey seer's spells said "their" in 3rd edition, and we didn't get female skaven in 3rd edition.
You say that but my Eshin skavens are all female and pretending to be males to others.
Smell/musk is a big thing for skaven so that doesn't make any sense that so many would go unnoticed furgay
It's over-done... Blight City has fallen... Trillions must die-die...
>Trillions must die-die...
So a normal Tuesday?
kek.
I'm going to overlook that simply because I found the nezumi neat
but you better keep it safe or else I'm calling the snakes
Fricking ink eyes. Kamigawa was a huge wet fart of a block that literally almost killed the game but that fricking rat has polluted EDH and even the occasional modern decks for literal decades now. It's not even that good, people are just obsessed with the ninja rat.
Oh, I hated the sets, I just like the look of them
this guy in particular
Ai generated or just awkwardly posed

Absolutely newbie secondary

Hopefully it will have some additional bits on the sprue.
are maggotkin expensive if I want to field glotkinn and lots of mortals? the harbinger of decay is back on GW and i expect it to sell out again soon. the FOMO is kicking in bros, I don't even own any nurgle units. Is he even any good?
No, maggotkin are a pretty affordable army. Double up on the vanguard, toss in the Glottkin, and you pretty much have a 2k army. Not overly sold on the Harbinger of Decay though
what's the most accurate means of measuring army popularity we have? I remember seeing some anon post a pie chart of tournament popularity and FeC
thank you, i appreciate it. Their vanguard is prefect for me but I just hope and pray they don't discontinue it thus causing it to it be giga-scalped before we see the christmas boxes this year.
Btw are the duplicate scriveners and building 2 lords of afflictions an issue? i know some boxes have issues when you buy them in duplicates because you dont' want multiples of certain characters. I want to get max points from these boxes.
Why are these so expensive? You only get 3???
You are better off buying the dominion boxes and selling whatever you dont want then buying these kits, GW prices are fricking trash.
GW prices elite 3 man weapon teams like shit. space marines are full of them in 40k and they're usually like $60 a set. fricking insane.
Tell me those xbows aren't basically spears.
Tell me they don't have more armor than Gutrippaz.
I'm still mad these aren't basically a semi-elite knob unit for KB.
If you live in Europe you can get a sqyuad of those from Stormbringer magazine Issue 14, for like 11euro per squad.
What´s the difference between Brutes and Ardboyz?
Brutes are brutal, ardboyz are hard.
The first one are more elite and punchy, the second one are bigger units and more sturdy. Ideally yiu use brutes to take objs and Boyz to keep them.
So, I should start out with the Brutes instead of the Ardboyz? What´s the local Warboss equivalent?
They got ardboy big boss for a leutenant equivalent, warchanter for a priest, weirdnob shaman for a wizard, and Megaboss as the normal boss (not counting Maw-krusha and Maw-runta variants)
How big is the mega-boss really?
Among the largest greenskins across all warhammers, but there's a lot of variance
60mm base
>How big is the mega-boss
Man Black Orcs really looked nothing like the rest of the Ironjawz
>we got smaller brutes instead of bigger brutes for an expansion
it's so over ironjawbros
We got 2 specialised Brutes as an expansion.
2 units of naked morons*
theyve already done the BIGGEST orruk they will with gordrakk, as hes stated to be "the biggest" so they literally put themselves in a corner with IJ as soon as they made new models for them
I don't know if the fluff was changed with the ironjaws supplement
but ardboys were not "real" ironjaws, they were orcs that decided to tag along the ironjaws and imitate them, despite not being as big and strong
actual ironjaws tolerate them because they put effort in being disciplined and following orders
ardboys are not strong enough to forge their weapons and armours with their bare hands like most ironjaws, so they use more conventional smithing methods
but then again the redesigned ardboys have equipment as rough as the brutes and there's a brute character whose gimmick is being a smith, so what do I know?
at the end of the day they're just lower ranking smaller ironjaws
Ardboys are mini brutes now, they're just runty with something to prove
Brute was born an ironjaw, Arboyz are normie orrukz that join in and try to keep up.
Generally Brute is bigger and stronger by default and Ardboy can't hope to match physical characteristics of a true Ironjaw, so they rely on numbers and coordination more.
Brute can bend metal with his hands, Ardboyz need smithing to make armor
God these new skaven minis are so frickxing boring.
Anyone willing to drop a link for the rulebooks?
sent 😉 im sure they'll sell fast physically even with the knowledge they'll be irrelevant in two months
NTA, but thank you anon!
was really hoping the new lookout sir would have built in spell protection too. spell sniping is arguably a bigger problem than shooting weapons sniping these days
well i guess since the hero targeting thing is once per army and only effects one unit of jezzails and reinforcement is capped at +1, its not going to be a total hero sniping apocalypse with jezzails.
still though, not looking forward to returning to a jezzail spam meta if they end up being good
Well I guess this fricking answers the little "how is this new magic system going to work when skryre and grey seers use very different magic" question, doesn't it?
why does an engineer care abour rifles instead of weapon teams and artillery?
More fun-fun to shoot-shoot then tell-tell other rats to shoot-shoot
People suggest weapons will be the ones giving a shit. Like "if theyre is a firendly SKYRE HERO wholy within 2'"
Calling it; Engineer is Jezzails and might also get additional cross scroll support on any other long range infantry type units while the Bombardier loses wizard and is relegated to the warp lightning cannon and plague claw while the Warlock keeps wizard but maintains his high point cost and can buff all shooting. If acolytes return, the orbs will not count as shooting and they'll probably make them duel skryre/ pestilens.
>If acolytes return, the orbs will not count as shooting
???
seriously what did you mean by this
Thanks for the kindness and the army rules
Does anyone have a scan of Dawnbringers 5 yet? Give plz.
It's a silly thing that's been killing me since forever but you have no idea how glad I am that they removed the minus from rend.
Well losing the most common castor we had sicks. He was great value too. I was figuring there would be some sort of shake up with the Skryre cast of generic heroes, but I had figured they'd just be merging the engineer and warlock together or squatting one of them.
If they move the bombardier into the engineers old role kind of like how they fought for in 3rd sans wlc, I think that'll be fine all things considered.
I like we have a designated non-magic shoot hero now, but I'm not sure why he's called the engineer or how overly specific he is. Hope other warscrolls have interaction or there will be artifacts or something to tune him.
I genuinely genuinely genuinely would have preferred if it they had simply squatted warlock engineers and called this new model "sniper chieftain" or whatever the frick.
Once I get past the naming, I don't think I hate it. Provided the Bombardier can fill that hole as cheap buffer caster which I think they'll do. The old engineers can presumably, hopefully, still work well as warlocks if they stick around and are anything similar to the old metal sculpt.
>Skavengays got tricked into the Starter Faction role
Remember how they removed Hero specific comman abilities from all SCE and Warclans last edition and then continued putting them on all the other random heroes?
>Remember how they removed Hero specific comman abilities from all SCE and Warclans last edition and then continued putting them on all the other random heroes?
They removed it from other factions too.
Well I think we know where More-more Warp Power will be going to now...
the best thing about this guy is that new acolytes might get mini warp lightning cannons.
If they kill or drastically redo acolytes, then James is going to need to take responsibility for the suicides and mail bombings.
I'm ok with this provided they keep the bombardier cheap and position him as the value skryre caster while keeping the WLC super charge mechanic around.
But this mother fricker has me feeling like he'll be giving a weaker area buff version of it while also having a good gun. So I don't know what the bombardier is supposed to be doing now.
>3/4 (for now) warlock engineers are gun-toters with shitty melee weapons
Am I the only one around here who liked warp-energy blades?
Verminous are sharing their helmets and in exchange they've been given warlock guns and warp stone blades again.
Can't wait for when they add chorfs and make daemonsmiths no longer be wizards
my actual real army got squatted so I'm not very sympathetic to hypothetical changes to your fake one.
You know that chaos dwarfs got squatted before your army, right?
bretonnia had an aos index too, doesn't make it a real army.
Chorfs had an AoS model release
The daemonsmith with the warpstone staff was released with the AoS logo
So did BoC. That means nothing.
>So did BoC. That means nothing.
It means that they're both AoS armies that got squatted, moron. You're arguing for my point.
Neither Chorfs or Bretonnia ever had an actual army book, they only ever had Legends rules, which is where models go to die, thats how it was in 40k, thats how it is in AoS
So Chorf players are in a worse state than BoC players. Keep in mind that I didn't throw the first punch here. It's not like I was like "hey, frick you for playing BoC"; you (or someone else) did that to me.
skryre are getting the warlock coven unit from the end times back and that's where all of the warp lightning-slinging engineers are going
Rend two? Ay caramba
It's a sniper rifle twice as long as he's tall
I am pedantic I know, but that is nowhere near to being twice as long as he is tall.
He's also basically shooting depleted uranium.
I love skaven
Soon
Every day until you like it.
>was in the middle of converting a warlock engineer covered in zappy bits, wielding a shock prod and casting warp lightning from his hand
oh, uh...
I guess I'll stop that then...
No wasted effort here
Proxy and use them as something else that actually goes zap-zap-boom then
finish it and proxy as an arch warlock
I get the reference, but I still don't like it.
not everything is a reference, m8, the warplock rifle has always been part of the arsenal of the engineers, they're just making models for the various equipment and specialising them in names and abilities like they've done with the bombardier
chances are they'll also make one dedicated exclusively to carrying the brass orb
>not everything is a reference, m8,
both guns have a little rat skull tied to them
utterly unheard of on a skaven model
Warlock engineer with different arm options for the skryre artifacts would be great. Ideal brass orb b***h would probably be something with hidden or deep strike though.
I'll tell you more, I bet that not all engineers are wizards specifically because they're making another one that carries the warpenergy condenser as a separate thing altogether
for a total of 6 skryre heroes (doomrocket, brass orb, warpmusket, lightning condenser, clawaccumulator, iron rat power armor)
I highly doubt they'll split them off like that, way too many variations and new scroll bloat with too many new sculpts. However...
>I bet that not all engineers are wizards specifically because they're making another one that carries the warpenergy condenser as a separate thing altogether
You'll probably win this bet at least:
>this is the warlock engineer
>it doesn't use magic or machines
>but it does have a rifle and a spy glass
I don't know why they kept the name.
It's part of the "ensuring you can't use the same models in both AoS and TOW" moronation. They don't want you to use the old Warlock Engineer models in AoS.
But you still can.
>but it's a pistol
So what?
It feels deeply wrong to use a model with a tall glaive and tiny pistol as a model with a dinky little dagger and a long rifle. Also, there's all of the machinery on the backpacks that represents nothing now, since they can't cast spells or buff units.
>It feels deeply wrong to use a model with a tall glaive and tiny pistol as a model with a dinky little dagger and a long rifle
fantasy players have done it for years, what's the issue?
But would I want to? I don't own any jezzails; I've always found them very uninteresting.
Use bombardier instead?
Well we'll just have to see how direly they frick that one up too. Hopefully the fact that he has a buzzy bunch of gubbins on his back will force them to keep his magic.
>it doesn't use magic or machines
The magic part I'll give i to you, but the previous warlock didn't interact with machines either, so what are you complaining about in that regard?
>but the previous warlock didn't interact with machines either,
That is all shit not on the warscroll
You know what else isn't on the new warscroll? The wizard keyword.
>Shows nothing to do with the units warscroll
You truly are a moron, aren't you?
He didn't say "the warscroll didn't have rules to interact with machines", he said "the engineer didn't interact with machines". Also, the lack of a wizard keyword, and therefore an inability to cast spells, is absolutely something to do with the warscroll.
The paint job on this model seems kinda...meh by GW standards, doesn't it?
Looks about the same as usual to me.
There needs to be a term for the opposite of copium — when people are excessively pessimistic to an annoying degree. Mopium? That sounds good to me.
It's just doomgayging.
doomsayers?
Disposed, more like displaced! Haha gotten. Not but seriously, COS needs more fantasy creatures in its range, it better be in the starter for fifth.
CoS need actual CoS dwarf and elf units and characters so the army actually reflects its lore. No WFB shit doesn't count.
Would it be dumb to make a Lumineth list with no real Ranged options?
lumineth archers aren't great atm, their ranged comes from magic.
Huh, figured they werw one of the big units of the army. Works for me, don't reallt care for them.
I hope the 4th edition set will be released early june.
Dispossessed as their own army of Elves and Dwarves working in tandem in honor of Malekith and Snorri Whitebeard's eternal friendship would be aces.
It won't happen, but it's a cool idea.
Malekith will be an evil c**t in AoS unfortunately because all the development of the end times is irrelevant
He was an evil c**t in ET as well.
He acted honourably and died saving another? Snorri saved him because he was his old friend again
Our lord and saviour MALEKITH working alongside dwarfs? Frick anon, no.
Skavengays are so annoying
Fun fact: there are no hard-rules set in place for the possibility of a female rat that's born with white fur and horns or for female-looking demons of the horned rat
hyper-pregnant verminlady broodmother soon you say
>2nd edition: warp lightning has a special rule where it can be cast more than once per turn by different casters
>3rd edition: warp lightning is a once-per-turn spell
>4th edition: warp lighting is gone
Crazy that they leaked the entirity of their spell lore and hero scrolls today.
Either they're gonna go full-moron and let Grey Seers cast magitek Skryre spells, or they're gonna go full-moron in the other (more realistic) direction and remove the wizard keyword from all Skryre units.
grey seers could always cast warp lightning in fantasy
Most people don't want to hear about either "side" but the freaks at GW feel the need to insert their shit into everything now which just guarantees rampant shitposting with every announcement
You will not be missed
>the white duardin
Doesn't hit the ear quite right, I agree.
I'll never agree with the decision of changing all the race names in AoS. It's so stupid.
it would be better if it was a synonym rather than a name change
>yfw they make a more-more warp power command ability if you pick the skryre rules and remove it as a spell
I'm thinking that's what's going to happen with specific skryre heroes buffing specific skryre units unless you use the command. Command could be for skaven shooting within a lesser powered wholly 13" bubble around the skryre hero or just giving the current buff to a specific unit, maybe double issue or stronger.
Skryre looses wizards and grey seers and verminlords become the only wizards like plague priests are the only priests.
