WOKE TRASH this trailer is getting worse
The dark fantasy theme looks much better than fromsoft nipshit, you can tell it's europeean who made it. I've always believed these types of games are not meant to be made by nips but there just wasn't any worthy western developper to make one. I hope this one will be the one.
This is a brand new game with the same name, it has nothing to do with the original.
Nobody knows why they insisted on using the original's name when nobody liked that game.
The developers themselves call it a reboot.
From a quick read about it, the reason why it is still called LotF is because it was originally meant to be a sequel to the first game, but it went through a lot of development hell.

it's more of a soft reboot, it's a direct sequel chronologically, according to the developers. It just takes place far into the future. If the devs said it has no ties to the original game then they're either morons or lying because they openly stated that it does.

I doubt it's going to have any callbacks to the original. It's probably one of those things where it is just enough of the same setting that you can place the original's story in the same universe, but everything that happened in it is completely irrelevant to current events. That game sold well entirely on the back of DaS, critically it is a massive failure and it has no dedicated fanbase.
Only seen 3 minutes on yewtu. It isn't loading good for me. From what I seen though the gameplay looks like janky ass. We need to move past this type of combat in gaming already enough is enough.
>Update
I finished the trailer. It looks alright. It looks like a very generic Souls clone of course but graphically it looks better than the Souls games and I do like the level design mechanic where you take your life in order to cross paths in the other dimension. It reminds me a bit of the Soul Reaver games in how you had to cross dimensions in that game for progression. Outside of this though it does look like a by the numbers Souls clone. Going to guess this goes on game pass like what MS seems to want to do with all games. Game doesn't look like something I'd be hyped for above everything else tbh.
The gameplay is basically just Dark Souls, nothing fancy about it. At some points in the boss fight it looks like you can also deflect Sekiro-style, but it's not clear. I hope that lamp/other world gimmick is relevant enough to give the game its own feel, otherwise this is just going to be le next gen grafixx Dark Souls.
Regardless I bet this is going to run like shit on release on PC.
>you can map spells and ranged weapons to your control layout alongside melee attacks
Thank God. The control layout never improved in fromsoft souls games, it was still garbage and outdated in Elden Ring.
Everyone figured this out already besides Hackiyazaki, even Code Vein has better controls than Elden Ring
Having to use anything but triggers to attack is actually horrible if you want to play unlocked because pressing face buttons make controlling the camera impossible. This is why Nioh feels like garbage without lock-on while in Elden Ring you can freely move and attack.
Fromsoftware was smart to make weapon swapping instant and equip load thresholds very generous, so if you want more weapons/ashes of war just equip more weapons into your various slots
It's not about where the attack button is, it's about the way you swap between the spells/weapons. I never ever play a pure mage of any kind on DaS/ER because having to let go of the left stick and mash the D-pad 5 times to find the spell that I want to use is fricking terrible. It's also the reason why most people won't bother equipping more than 1 weapon at a time, it's just not satisfying to play like that.
It's funny that you mention that you don't need to let go of the right stick to attack in ER, which is a good thing I agree, but having to let go of the left stick to swap spells/items/weapons is not any better.
Shill thread?
Shill thread.
Game sucked ass when it first released, and this reboot will be the same. But you homosexuals will slurp this shit up, unsurprisingly.
As a Soulsborne veteran, I really liked this trailer.
Bosses seem to not just swing in rhythm but also mix combos and area of effect attacks of various shapes to make positioning important as much as reaction and make bosses feel varied.
Magic, ranged and melee skills are all seamless and apparently slottable like Ashes of War.
The same riposte was used on both parried enemies and enemies hit by an heavy (charged?) attack, which makes me believe, like Elden Ring, that there's a unified stagger system, so heavy attacks matter and yield high rewards for high risk.
I really like the exploration/2 worlds mechanic, and if they use it smartly if will lead to interesting world design and replay value. The only issue is that some of the animations felt... "light", especially that quickstep. I also hope there's a guard-counter style mechanic, but it was very cool to see dual daggers block a magic beam.
I think they have done their homework, looked actually at what Fromsoftware achieved and how Soulsborne recently evolved, and are developing a respectable take on the genre.
I know original LotF was trying to mimic Dark Souls and maybe got 50% of the way there. This feels like 80% there but they’re a 5 years too late. I hope there’s more to it.
>visuals are much better than Fromslop >but animations are trash
Im kinda tired of Souls games but I must conced From knows how to properly animate when none of their copycats can reach that level of polish
I tried Atomic Heart - I enjoyed it but the enemy variation was so little and the gameplay loop was boring to me. Same with the locked door puzzles always consisting of snapping your fingers, or lining up colours.
Then there was the save states, I lost hours of progress once because I jumped into water where there was lasers under it. Almost uninstalled there.
Then I got near? the end of the game in the morgue, progressed quite a bit there, and died because I got surrounded by enemies and couldn't jump or move so I got knock down spammed to death.
I lost an hour or more of progress then, and I decided to just watch the rest of the game on Youtube.
This, the game was complete dogshit, buggy and unfun. I don't know if this is from the same guys, but I'm not going to risk it. The trailer looked shit anyway
>animations and combat are JANKY as hell
idk if janky is the right word for it, more like overacted. i can smell the mocap through my monitor. its the same type of cringe youd see in cheesy action movies

YUCK
Finally, Dark Souls 4.
>Hit the enemy
>Even with an explosion point blank
>Just a regular human enemy
>0 hitstun
Looks like garbage
uh?
no, what are you talking about? from 30% to 70% equip load nothing changes
>projectile hits the front of the player
>player staggers to the right as though he had been hit in the left side
WOKE TRASH this trailer is getting worse
it's mid and a good product for midbrains
>those sound effects
i dont think this company can make good combat, ever

That is definitely an opinion.
Don't look bad, some of the mechanics are decent, the soul one and the two worlds connections
Shame nobody its going to play it if its not from Japan
it was made by two small studios from Europe who united into one in 2020, called HexWorks. That's why the game look like that
looks ok. I'll prob day 1 it
>no scream as he kicks the enemy
holy shit this is bad wheres the soul bros?
Looks "ok". Might play it next year when its cheap. Doesn't seem like something I'd play day 1.
Why do sfx sucks that much in western video games? They sound very movie-like, i think it's because they must hire movie sound designers.
the death mechanic is the only interesting thing about this game
I'll have my eye on it but I'm not expecting it to be worth the full price
Unsurprisingly it looks like shit, can't wait for the marketers to spam threads until launch
Idk... the attacks look/feel floaty as frick, they lack impact.
>no hitstop
this is what i mean by hitstop there is no impact
?t=199
Looks cool but the sfx sound pretty garbage.
The sound design on attacks is really fricking weak.
>checkerboard artifacting
well atleast its going to run okay
>UE5
oh wait nevermind WOKE TRASH
I liked how the flag was clipping through the floor really blatantly in that part
played this back when it first launched in 2018ish, it was half assed at best
uh what?
There was already a game called Lords of the Fallen:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/265300/Lords_Of_The_Fallen_2014/
this is just a The Last of Us 1 HD edition crap
Holy moron.
This is a brand new game with the same name, it has nothing to do with the original.
Nobody knows why they insisted on using the original's name when nobody liked that game.
It’s really strange. I don’t think there’s a single soul alive that loved that game.
I liked the exp multiplier increasing the longer you went without sitting at a bonfire but that's about it
>This is a brand new game with the same name, it has nothing to do with the original.
I doubt it

>game of the genre "when no one actually shill"
Looks ok
I will probably buy it on a sale
>fire rendering at 5 frames per second

When does he run like he needs to take a big shit.

>that dreadful movement

Can't wait to not play it
Looks decent enough. Better than the original for sure. The idea of two parallel realms sounds interesting as well.
demon souls remake vibe
why do all these new games have the same spacious airy sound effects for hit impacts and stuff?
As a Soulsborne veteran, I really liked this trailer.

Embarrassing trailer. It's like they're playing DaS2 while narrating their own fanfic.
I like it. DS2chads, remake of greatest From software game is here
Game looks awesome

You can see the DLSS artifacting in the very trailer video anon
I know I know.
I can wish for one game this year to be released at least somewhat competently.
Maybe BG3 will be.
Atomic Heart was super well optimized and Lies of P looks the same too.
those are UE4
I tried Atomic Heart - I enjoyed it but the enemy variation was so little and the gameplay loop was boring to me. Same with the locked door puzzles always consisting of snapping your fingers, or lining up colours.

Lies of P I am looking forward to somewhat as well. It performed really smoothly. Those Koreans sure know how to optimize a game.
>UE5
anon...
Don't worry. I'm positive you can have a 1080p 60fps experience without DLSS on 1060/2060 low/medium.
Lumen on high/ultra is incredibly demanding.
>american accent
>can't stop talking

the woman boss sounds american
The first one was terrible. This also looks terrible. Not interested.

But anon, that's the opposite of Souls. Fromsoft is great at animating but terrible at developing a combat system that isn't shallow.

Looks fricking good. Soulsbros are eating good this year. Still have to play Remnant 2 as well
>same old gameplay from 2009
yawn
stop making this shit if you dont have someone like miyazaki to gives your dogshit game some soul
The first one was total dogshit so no thanks I'm good.
Hexworks can hardly be less competent than Deck13; those morons coded The Surge 2 so stupidly that it won't work with the latest drivers.
>restore radiance to the sex beacons of the sentinels?
Count me in
Looks awful.
>first thing shown in the trailer is donut steel bargain bin Malenia
Pathetic.
>From schizos already on damage control
gameplay looks fine. But like every soulslike, they still get the aesthetic wrong by making it overly grotesque
Soulsclones peaked here. It will never be topped.
