No there isn't. You're just used to Dark Souls animations so anything deviating from that looks weird.
nah there's definitely something up. I think it's the hitstop combined with the animations being sped up/slowed down to suit gameplay. The parry animation is too fast and whenever anyone hits anything their weapon stops for what feels like half a second.
Look at the big sword sweep at the end, there's a weird unnatural stutter at the beginning of the animation. It just looks odd. Even DS2 animations didn't look this weird

I think Hexworks looked at Sekiro and foolishly thought Elden Ring would feature deflects when they are quite ubfit for the type of enemy design and gear balance Souls games have. For example the gameplay shows Pieta being deflected twice and riposted with a sword. Sword parries in ER are even harder than normal parries
First game was a blatant low effort Souls clone. This one is another low effort Souls clone but on Unreal Engine 5 instead of Unreal Engine 4 or whatever.
